Disappointed. I am a big breakfast guy, and to me, biscuits and gravy are the prime rib of breakfast! That said, I had waited patiently for the new "Big Biscuit" to open in Lee's Summit. But just to be fair, I did wait a bit longer so that they could sort out in opening day issues. Maybe I should have waited a little longer. It is in the same strip mall as Johnny's Tavern and Price Chopper so it is easy to find. The location grants them great parking and the restaurant is large enough so that wait times should be short. Quantity! All the servings are large! Now that can be important for breakfast, so is quality. I ordered my favorite biscuits and gravy with hash browns. When it arrived I was surprised at how cold it was. Since our waited had gotten away before I could say anything, I had to run down another employee and point out that my meal had been served cold. A few minutes later yet another employee (maybe the manager) returned with a replacement meal. This time the gravy was warm and the hash browns were tepid. I was hungry so I went ahead and ate guessing that it was going to be futile to complain again. That was when I realized that the gravy lacked any serious flavor and loading it up with salt and pepper did not bring it to life! I did not look in the back but I have to believe that their gravy was from some generic mix and not made from scratch. While the prices appear reasonable, there is an air of indifference that hangs around the staff. And that indifference seems to have been absorbed by the food. The Big Biscuit brand enjoys a great reputation, but sadly I think we have an outlier here. People do fill the place, maybe it is a question of location, but for me I will go the extra mile and a half for my breakfasts catch the Egg & I on 291. read more

WORST PLACE that I have ever been too. My wife and i sat at a a table for 20 mins , with out anyone coming to take our order or to even get us something to drink. Most places I visit, I often feel that I've paid too much for poorly prepared food, even if the service is good. The Big Biscuit has portions that are probably pushing obscene, but the prices are competitive with similar eateries in the area. Last time I visited, IHOP was charging $6.99 for a short stack of three small pancakes. At The Big Biscuit, you can still get two plate-sized pancakes for $5.99(correction: they have raised the price to $6.59). I don't require portions to be large; I just want well-prepared food. As good as the food is, I've had strange service experiences occasionally. Sometimes, I feel like the servers have trouble tending to my table. On one occasion, I went to salt my scramble, but it kept getting sweeter. That's right: a staff member put sugar in the salt shakers and maybe salt in the sugar shakers. I had to have my breakfast prepared again while my kids ate. Overall, I recommend this place. The value is still probably the best for breakfast/lunch in the area. read more

I was given a coffee mug with a big red lipstick stain on it. Unfortunately, I am right handed and the previous user must have been left handed, so I didn't notice until I was about 3/4 done with my coffee. I was so grossed out I almost threw up right at my table. I asked to speak to the manager and this little young thin came out. If she really was the manager then I could see how the cup could be brought out with a huge red lipstick stain on it. She never once apologized. She made the excuse that they do SO MUCH dishwashing that "sometimes some dirty things come through." That's not really what you want to hear. A damn apology without an excuse would have gone a long way. I decided to contact corporate when I got home. I explained the whole experience, lipstick stain, dirty silverware, chipped and stained cups and all. I never received a response and I have never been back to Big Biscuit since and I never intend to. read more

We visited the Lee's Summit Big Biscuit on a rainy Sunday morning - the restaurant definitely wasn't crowded, so we got seated right away, but it took about 5 minutes for someone to get our drink order - and she asked if anyone had gotten our order yet (obviously the wait staff isn't assigned a particular area). It took a little bit to get a glass of water and a coffee. While we were waiting, we counted 18, yes EIGHTEEN wait staff hanging out behind the counter. Seriously, this many employees and no one immediately got our drinks? A manager (there appeared to be 2 on duty) also came around to ask if we had ordered our drinks. We ordered, the food arrived quickly. However, the food is nothing to get excited over - very average. Throughout our stay, it was apparent that the wait staff are in no hurry to offer good customer service - they just saunter around..... I was told it will be ready in 10 and there's no way to change it because the kitchen relies on the computer to tell them when an order is placed. Restaurant looks great. Had the nowait app so we got there and within minutes was seated. Our waitress was nice and got us coffee.. but it kinda went down hill from there. It took her awhile to come back and get our order but she did a good job. We had to wait awhile for food to come. I had the egg white mushroom and spinach. It looked wet, and not appetizing. It was also cold. It was also blend and for once I had to add pepper to my food. The side of fruits were fresh and nicely cut. Biscuit was their best... overall fair but sad to say I could have cooked better. My husband's first dish came out wrong. They did bring a new order but the scrambled egg was toppling off the plate and the waitress used her boob and pushed it back in the plate... Not cool. She acted like it never happened. Found this place by doing a search on Yelp and looking at their menu. So glad we found it! My husband had the Cowboy Benedict which combined his two favorite breakfasts: Biscuits and Gravy and Country Fried Steak. He loved it so much that he finished the whole thing. That's not easy to do considering the generous portion! The biscuits were big and fluffy. The country fried steak looked and tasted like it was done fresh, in-house. I had the Lo-Carb breakfast with Cottage Cheese. I wanted to try the French Toast so our waiter, Drew, let me swap out the sliced tomatoes for one slice of French toast for a small up charge. My breakfast was really large too. I ended up taking half of it home. Service was great! Drew made sure we had everything we needed and one of the managers stopped by too to make sure we were happy. We go here all of the time and today was the first time I was dumbfounded by a server. I went with my 10 year old daughter. We were seated right away. They gave us 2 regular menus and asked for our drinks. I ordered coffee and my daughter ordered chocolate milk. We looked at the menu and realized there wasn't a kid section so we stopped someone and asked if they had a kids menu. They dropped one off and then we waited about 15 more minutes to even put our order in. It was about 7am on a Saturday so they were not that busy yet. Our waitress finally came back to take our order. She asked if I needed any condiments. I asked for ketchup and hot sauce. They brought out our food fairly quickly and asked if we needed anything else. I mentioned the ketchup and hot sauce and then syrup for my daughter's pancakes. Someone else brought out the syrup and asked if we needed anything else, so I mentioned the ketchup and hot sauce a third time. It never came and by the time our waitress came back to check on us we were 80% done with our food. All this I can overlook. However, then she drops off the bill. When she finally comes back to get my card, I ask why they charged us $3.00 for a chocolate milk, as it should come with the kids meal. She said she didn't realize at the time we were ordering off the kids menu, so she rang it in separately. I said okay, so I'm guessing you will just take it off then, since it was your mistake. She instead says, well if I have to tell my manager I'm going to get in trouble, and just looks at me. So I say, you mean to tell me I'm getting charged $3 for a mistake you made? She just looks at me and doesn't say anything. Loaded sticky biscuit! This has become our go-to breakfast spot. Even when it's busy they get you sat in a reasonable time and the food is good. They seem to always be wells staffed and on top of service. Enjoyed the chicken and waffles, but not the French toast as much.
