The portions for the price were actually pretty nice, but the actual food itself was kinda a mixed bag. My partner got some Strawberry pancakes and really liked those, but I got a Chicken and Waffles and found myself thinking it was just kinda...meh. Everything was really good! My mashed potatoes were dry but I doctored them up and they weren't bad. The gravy was delicious and my bacon was cooked perfectly and how I asked. My husband didn't love his cheddar broccoli soup as the pieces of broccoli were huge and seemed to just be added at the end but the flavor was good. Honestly my favorite part was having a giant side of cottage cheese which I'm sure is just store bought but it was great. Their salads are GREAT and easily customizable. I ordered French toast (bland), sausage patties (only had one) and eggs over hard (best thing and only thing I ate in its entirety because you can't mess up eggs). Sunday 12/7/25 don't worry I won't give a time or name who but yall need to train your Sunday staff better as we waited 30 minutes for our waiter who just kept walking passed us to serve other folk, we had to flag him down, coffe was cold, took our orders later on because birthday songs were too important even though he had a 30 min window to just stand with the other waitresses to text and talk, don't worry the other waitresses were ignoring us as well, except the Latina waitress with the raspy voice and big smile she is always great when we're there. bad experience overall, we've been coming for yrs and never had a bad experience till that day, I hope the owner sees this. read more

The breakfast is amazing. This is pretty much the only place I order breakfast from in Overland Park. The prices are very fair, the portions are perfect and the food always makes me feel fantastic. Fresh fruit, eggs made to order, etc. it doesn't really get much better than this in terms of an every day diner. read more

Meet for breakfast today with friends and it was amazing! Walking in you get a hometown, friendly, casual, everybody knows your name feel. Quickly seated at a table and the waitress greeted me with a genuine smile. The rest of my party was running late but she brought all our drinks as requested. She checked on us frequently once we were all there and made sure our coffee and drinks were refilled. I had French toast w/ added strawberries and it was delicious. The other breakfast dishes were just as tasty and even though they were getting busy, the kitchen didn't skip a beat. Our food was created quickly and brought to our table hot and fresh. Normally we like Pegshs food but yesterday my chicken fried chicken sandwich was dry, tough, impossible to bite into. I took it off the bun and cut in very small pieces in order to eat. We were in a hurry so I couldn't order something else. The hash browns browns were undercooked, not brown at all. Disappointing meal. Service was fine though so it gets 2 stars for that. I've always enjoyed coming here but today was a different story. My friend and I had an our food, paid and we stayed awhile to talk. My friend is DYING so we wanted time to enjoy each other for awhile but apparently that's not okay with the staff at Pegahs. I was shocked when we were told that we'd been there too long and had to leave. We were told that they needed the booth when there were a number of tables available and there was no one waiting. What a really terrible thing to do! It was totally unnecessary and now they've lost 2 entire families and their friends who won't be coming back. read more

His only request for his birthday lunch was a "smiley face pancake" and Kristi made it happen for him, adding whipped cream to his pancake making him so happy. Service was amazing. Food was great. I usually wait until I have been to a restaurant at least three times before publishing a review - that way I can be fair to both the restaurant and possible customers (anyone can have both good and bad days). So after a few visits over the past year (lock downs do get in the way) here goes Located in a strip mall off West 87th Street in Merriam, there is plenty of lighted off street parking and handicap access. Once inside you know you are in an old school family dinner. Booths line the sides and tables in the middle. Temptation Alert: You will have to pass the desert display on your way to your seat, so take a good look before ordering your meal! Should you let your eyes outpace your stomach, you can pick up that slice of pie to take home for a late snack (yes, I have done that too). Service has always been above average, but can drag a bit depending on demand. While I have had a couple of "mistakes" (over cooked burger and steak), they were rectified immediately and cheerfully. The menu pretty much covers everything you would expect in a dinner: all the breakfasts most everyone looks for, lunch specials, and dinners that run from light fare to steaks and meatloaf! With that in mind, I have never been disappointed in either the quality or quantity of any meal. My recommendations are Steak and Eggs for Breakfast along with Meatloaf for dinner. Prices are well in line with the neighborhood and similar restaurants. Considering recent lockdowns in the area, social distancing is easily covered, and all employees wear masks. Tried this out this morning... was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Menu is huge, maybe too big. But I found a good thing that was tasty. Chorizo and eggs. Eggs came scrambled with meat mixed in. That was a bit disappointing, but okay. Would have liked a choice of eggs preparation. Our server was pretty good, never had to ask for anything, so attentive. They not only they got three family's of three or more seated in under ten minutes they dealt me going back up in between and changing or adding more food as I looked at their wonderful homemade selections of pie and cakes(I opted for their double chocolate) they always prepare the food in a reasonable amount of time with friendly faces and kind inviting warm attitude Cory was very attentive and ensure he read our order back and even gave me my cake for free and said "HAPPY EASTER" it's on me! We have eaten here twice now and both times have been delicious and had excellent service. I had the catfish special with onion petals and a baked potato this time. The first time I had the tequila lime chicken dinner. The portion sizes are very large so we both had leftovers for the next day. It's also one of the more affordable diners we eat at. read more

I used to have a Pegah's near me in West Olathe, but they lost their lease and I hadn't been to one in a while. My group had a meeting there tonight and cancelled, but they failed to inform me. Not a problem, I wanted to see if it was as good as it used to be....and it was. Generous portions, great tasting, and made from scratch, this is the Pegah's that I remember. The service was quick and friendly, the place was busy yet clean, and they still have the best pies. For you germaphobes, they are all over it when it comes to Covid. Plexiglas dividers between booths, condiments on demand, they even wipe down the pens before handing them to you. These people care and it shows. Don't think twice, just go and enjoy, you'll be glad that you did. read more

We like Pegah's but had terrible service this time around. Our food was really very good: meatloaf, spaghetti, burger... Etc. Actually the burger was great and loved those waffle fries. Couldn't get a refill to save my life. Waitress was giving a lot of attention to some tables but seemed to hate us for some reason. We had to get someone else to bring us a to go box. She finally brought our check and was dismayed to learn that a few people at our table wanted dessert. One lady ordered chocolate cake and was brought chocolate pie. When corrected, the waitress said "you said chocolate pie". We explained that NO she didn't and she stomped off to get the cake. At pay out it was mentioned that we had issues with service and the comment wasn't even acknowledged. Before I begin, let me say that every review I write starts with three stars and works its way up or down from there. You'll have to impress me or distress me to move in either direction. For the past few years I'd seen Pegah's along a route I drive occasionally and wanted to try it out. There was something about the unassuming, I'm-Not-TryingTo-Impress-Anyone, exterior that piqued my interest. I was out with my mom and my wife today around lunch time and when I checked Yelp for restaurant suggestions I saw a Pegah's near our location, so we decided to give it a shot. The interior was clean and bright; very relaxed, and exactly what I expected. The menu was a lot more extensive than I'd anticipated... we each considered various food options, but all landed on different breakfast selections. Here's where it gets interesting... our server was friendly and attentive, and the food arrived very quickly, both of which increase my star count for the review. But the food was nothing special. Don't hear me wrong-- it was good-- it just wasn't spectacular. I get the impression this place would be very consistent in quality and service... and I noticed that the lunch clientele was decidedly "mature." (And since I'm 51 years old, that's saying something!) I would go back again... but mostly just for convenience and the broad range of choices on the menu. If you're looking for a quick and easy place to grab breakfast or lunch, don't hesitate to go. But if you're looking for charm, character, or culinary amazement, there are better choices in town. read more

We are new to the area and tried Pegah's just before noon recently. My wife ordered the hot roast beef sandwich, which was served open face on bread covered in brown gravy. We were surprised there was no side item (like the traditional green beans or salad) included. The mashed potatoes were good and the gravy was flavorful but not very warm. The roast beef was tasteless and chewy. Overall, the choice was underwhelming. I ordered the Breakfast Combo, consisting of biscuit & gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon and hash browns. The hash browns were excellent and the bacon was cooked to my order. The eggs were good but the biscuit & gravy was a bit disappointing. The gravy was a bit thin and I only found four bits of sausage in it. The service was above average and the place was very clean. We will shop around the area for a "favorite diner", but may return. read more

I really enjoyed Pegah's. The restaurant has a cute, cafe or diner type style. They had a variety of offerings which is always nice since my little is a vegetarian and I am not. The restaurant was clean and the food was good. We went pre-Covid and my only complaint was that service was super slow to the point that it caused some friction at my table. I would definitely or take out or delivery if I just really had a home cooking craving but I would be hesitant to dine in again. read more

Hubby & I are regulars here. Kids last day of spring break; wanted to do a family outing. We mistakenly chose this location on this day at this time, and got stuck with the wrong server. I am giving 2 stars as the food was delicious and the lady who delivered it was AMAZING! Her smile made our little family of four at ease. Our server, she never made her name clear - it might have been Tiz or possibly Liz? Anyway, she seemed very disinterested and overwhelmed with the number of tables she had. We noticed the tall lady who delivered our food was cleaning the bar, so we asked her if we could get a coffee refill as my coffee had been empty for 10 minutes. Upon her delivering it promptly, we asked for a milk refill, which she provided so kindly and even asked if we needed a box. Which was great because we needed one. My daughter noticed our server reappear after a while, and she seemed very irritated. We noticed she confronted the nice lady who helped us and we all felt very uncomfortable. The lady who brought the box was told to leave the server's table alone by our server. It was very odd. In my opinion, when I'm eating somewhere, I don't care who my server is; if I'm empty on coffee for 10 minutes, of course, I'm going to ask someone for a refill. For that poor lovely lady to get confronted by the server was just unprofessional and rude. We only felt welcomed by the lady who delivered our food, refilled our coffee and got my daughter more milk and a container. We really enjoyed seeing her smile, especially with all the face masks in the place by employees. Will we go back to this location? We're regulars, but Ronnie's is just up the street - who knows? While writing this review, my son said he thought the tall lady who delivered our food's name was Hailey? She introduced herself, but I just don't remember. My age is catching up with me! Anyway ~ Pegah's has a good reputation, but this server has really turned us off to this location. Unless "Hailey" serves us; her personality was phenomenal and she was SO HELPFUL and kind. I would ask to sit in HER section! Since apparently assigned tables is such a big thing. What pisses me off the most? Our tip likely went to the server, and not the lady who really served us. My husband and I were talking about giving her a tip separately, but we felt SO ill at ease with what our server did to her; we just wanted OUT of there! UPDATE: Talked to "Moe" who said he owns all 4 Pegah's restaurants, and he was very disappointed in the situation that happened. He was very open and honest with me, and said he was fully aware of the situation, and it has been addressed so it doesn't happen again. THEN I found out Hailey is really Hadley, and Liz was our crappy server, and Hadley was on her first day!!! FIRST DAY, and that's the kind of service I received from her. What an amazing person! Also think Moe is amazing, because he was open and honest with me, and apologized profusely. I'll be giving them another chance, but this time I'll go in on Saturday and ask for Hadley's table. At the location on 87th there is a server named Katrina, who goes by Trina. She is a thief. Me and my pregnant wife went in for a Sunday brunch and paid with a gift card. The gift card had $90 left on it. Katrina took awhile with the card but we didn't think anything of it. Well, since then I have not been able to use the card anywhere. She must have damaged the strip so it couldn't be swiped. A couple days later I looked up the remaining balance and it was $0.00. Someone had spent $90 online at Target around 2am. The funny thing? The card statement didn't even have our meal at Pegah's on it, but that was the card we gave to pay. My guess is Katrina went to the back, checked the remaining balance, paid our bill by some other means, took pictures of the gift card to get all of the information, made sure we couldn't use it anywhere else by damaging the strip, waited a couple of days and then used it. I wouldn't be sure it was her if our Pegah's meal was on the card history, but it's not and all roads lead back to her. And she was the only other person to handle my card besides me. How pathetic and just plain wrong that you have to take from other people. Katrina, if you're reading this, get used to seeing your name because this isn't the only review I'll be writing.
