I spent a lot of time at a bar eating breakfast at truck stops, I was a otr truck driver and am used to nice heavy mugs, I use one at home, and I was impressed with the size of the coffee mugs, goes hand in hand with their biscuits. Waited for manager to bring back out, which was not necessary, but someone felt would be a good idea. When it arrived, manager was less than apologetic. We frequent several of The Big Biscuits in the KC area as we are in that area 8-10 times per year and have enjoyed all of those visits. This one just opened in Springfield, which is only 30 minutes from our house so we were excited. The food was good but could be better. I ordered the Denver Omelet and it was just barely at an acceptable temperature but I would have preferred it hotter. The service was good but very slow and when the food was ready it was brought to our table and the "food auction" commenced! Take an extra few second and mark which customer ordered food instead of bringing it to the table and ask "who ordered........who ordered.......who ordered?" I know they are new and we will be back but I was hoping for the food and service to be of the level we have come to expect from The Big Biscuit. read more

The Big Biscuit was pretty good! The waitlist did't take long to get through, once we were seated, service was quick. If only the tables were a little bigger - our table of 4 was very crowded as soon as we added coffee and waters... once the food was there, it was really cramped! Maybe 10 minutes passed after we ordered and we had our food. I had the Kansas City omelet - full of meat and cheese, with a big biscuit on the side. The hash browns were kind of soggy, but edible. The biscuits are very big - filled a medium sized plate, but I couldn't really enjoy mine because it crumbled apart in my hand as I tried to cut and butter it. The others tried a scramble bowl and a breakfast combo of sausage, eggs and pancakes. Everyone enjoyed their food so it was worth the visit. I'll just pass on the biscuit next time. read more

I was here Monday, got the loaded stick biscuit. Good grief, is that thing delicious!!! Came back Monday afternoon for lunch. Got the cranberry pecan salad, add chicken. Delicious!!! Perfect portion! Tuesday, I came back and got a biscuit because, well, it IS The Big Biscuit!! And indeed it was big! Fluffy, delicious!! Thursday I came and got the Honey Money chicken sandwich with tater tots. The chicken breast was so tender and juicy, the ratio of honey mustard was perfect for me. I will definitely be getting that again! Let first start by saying that I ordered the veggie omelette because I am a VEGETARIAN. Half way through my omelette I noticed some sausage crumbles. I told our server who apologize (although it was not her fault) I watched her inform one of the managers before bringing me a new one. When she brought my new omelette she mentioned the cooks may have cooked it in the same pan as another omelette cooked earlier. IF SOMEONE IS ORDERING A VEGGIE OMELETTE THERE IS A REASON. I think this place needs to work on their resource management. We went in on a Sunday Morning and were told there would be about a 15 minute wait. There was one couple in front of us and another couple came in after us. I have no issue with waiting for a table, my problem was with the fact that they sat us at one of the MANY tables that had been empty since we got there. The food was pretty good, but it kept bothering me that the whole time we were there, there were a lot of people waiting, and there were always several tables not being used. There were several servers, standing around the back bar, so I don't believe they didn't want people to get seated and not have a server, Maybe there was a reason for it, but I don't know what it could have been - and it probably bothered me more than it should have. The food was good - and the portions were enormous, the service was adequate, though our waitress did disappear for awhile, when we were ready to pay for meal. read more
