A local favorite there isn't anything on the menu that I haven't enjoyed but my go-to is the Popeyes with the Greek salad and their homemade Greek dressing which is so good I've purchased separately several times and their mozzarella bread is life! So cheesy and delicious and if I'm sharing then their pizza, specially the pepperoni and cheese is just everything I could ask for! So delicious, I highly recommend!! The food is really good! The mozzarella bread has the perfect amount of seasoning oozing with cheese!! The marinara is the perfect taste and texture. The Italian sandwich is good and I enjoy dipping it in the house dressing. The Italian is also good leftover after you throw it into the air fryer. It is a lot of food for the good price. The service is good. The waitress that we had was great and attentive. Checked in if we need anything brought the food out as requested when ordered. The parking lot is located off the side street in the back and the inside interior is clean but outdated. The outdated part is cool because it is stepping back in time to an old Italian joint! I'm so sorry to all the Big Cheese lovers out there.... We recently tried a plain cheese and a pepperoni olive and mushroom pizza... not our favorite. We usually order from Ninos but decided to try something else. The cheese was so thick and had a strong cheddar flavor- just not what I'm looking for in a pizza. We didn't care for the taste of the sauce, and the biggest abomination was the pepperoni! Thick and chewy... no no no. I prefer a thin, crispy, and ideally a "cupped" style pepperoni. I'm not saying anything was inherently "bad" about this pizza... it just wasn't good to us. So if you have never tried it, I hope this helps to describe the type of pizza you should expect. read more

So Big Cheese is a personal favorite. I've always liked it and the food is always good. However. We came here last week and had, quite frankly, not a good experience. I was pretty surprised by what happened. We got sat down and about 5 minutes later, the waitress came over, touching me and my husband on the shoulders, saying she wasn't ignoring us but was just busy and she'd be by in a few minutes. She comes back and immediately sits down on the other side of the booth next to my mother and starts complaining about another table. Mind you, we don't know this waitress from a hole in the wall. Ok. She finishes complaining about her other table and finally takes our order. I watched her. She wrote everything down on her little pad of paper. A good 10 minutes later, she comes back with our salads. Then maybe 15-20 minutes after that, she and another waitress start bringing our dinners. She was all frazzled and snapped at my 6 year old who asked for more bread. All the while, I'm sitting there with no dinner. So time keeps going by. The rest of my family starts eating their dinner and I'm just sitting there with nothing. I finally am able to flag over the hostess (the waitress was keeping scarce), and told her that the waitress never brought me my meal. I saw her go over to the waitress and she went running to the computer. Never once did she look at her pad of paper to put in my order. She finally comes to the table as says, "what did I miss?" She claims to have never written my order down. Lie. I saw her write it down. At that point, I had to ask for the menu again because I couldn't remember which calzone I had ordered. So she says she's going to put a rush on it. I told her that's fine but please make it to go. 15 minutes later, she comes by with the check and tells us she comped the forgotten meal, and the kitchen is working on it but takeout is slammed. Ummmmmmm. You forgot to put in my order. And so you put it in as a takeout order without the rush??? Even though you said you'd rush it? At that point I just wanted to get out of there. When she finally brought it over, we were all ready to leave so I could go home and actually eat. It's a shame because I often really like this restaurant but a bad experience can put you off. I think I'll give Big Cheese a rest for a while before we try it again. read more

My wife and I went shopping at Garden City and decided to stop in here for a pizza. Great reviews and I had had some friends that had visited here before and had a good visit. We ordered a large bacon, meatball and extra cheese pizza. It was good! My only complaint would be, I think it could have had more cheese on it. We did order it that way and it was ok, but not oozing with cheese which is what I'm looking for when I order extra. Service was friendly and food was hot! We will be back for sure! read more

First time eating here and it was outstanding! Our awesome server Kim was wonderful and gave us great suggestions on some of their most popular items. We started with the mozzarella bread which was incredible.All their bread and dough is made fresh daily and you could tell. Next we ordered a small salad to share. Their housemate dressing was delicious. Next we ordered a small original pizza with Pepperoni, sausage, and roasted red peppers. It was by far one of the best pizzas we have ever had. Not bad, not great, but average. I'm not from the area so on a recommendation from a co-worker I tried their Greek Salad & a sausage/cheese/onion pie. As for taste, it was 'meh'. The salad came pre-dressed which leads to soft greens. Also, I prefer mine to have a bit more pizzazz to it & the dressing just seemed bland to me. The pie was was a solid 'C' too, a decent amount of toppings for the price and the cheese was perfectly melted, not burnt at all but again with personal preference, the crust was thin & soft while I'd rather enjoy a well-done crisped crust. The Mediterranean Pizza and Greek Salad are my favorite things to get at The Big Cheese. First, their house dressing is incredible and when you dip the pizza in the dressing it really adds to the taste! I know it might sound weird, but definitely try it! The sauce at this restaurant is delicious too. I am very picky when it comes to sauce and I really enjoy it. I also like the meatballs and i usually do not like restaurants meatballs! Overall not bad pizza. Stopped in for pickup on a weekday and although there were plenty of people, no wait or line. I believe I got some bad pizzas as mine were verrrrry toasty and slightly black on the edges. The pizzas were very crispy and crunchy which does not represent most of the photos here on Yelp. I think ordering another time the pizzas would be way different as mine were super well done (which some people love and prefer!). Ordered online and the pizza was done super fast. Probably around 15 minutes, which is excellent. Picking up was a breeze also. Staff was friendly and professional. Tried a pepperoni pizza and it was pretty good! Sauce is excellent, pepperoni was really good quality and slightly spicy (as it should be). The pizza reminded me of some styles on Federal Hill. The pizza is very bready if you're into that, but the menu did also advertise thin crust too. 4/5 on the roni pizza. Also grabbed a small buffalo chicken pizza which was kind of a let down. Not very buffalo-y and no sauce (of any kind) to speak of on the pizza so it was bland. Basically bready with a little chicken and cheese. 1/5 on the buffalo. What makes this overall 3 stars and not a solid 4 is the price, though. The small pizzas are no larger than your standard dinner plate, and were around $15 a piece. All in all I paid $31 for 2 very small pizzas which to me seems crazy, for what it is and considering everything else available nearby. read more

This has been my favorite place for pizza since I was a kid. The dough is light and the toppings are full of flavor. The salad dressing is by far the best I've ever had. You can even order it to go. Went for dinner on a Saturday night. They were pretty busy, but the service did not suffer from it. Pricing is average and our food was very good. Their house dressing is delicious I had the stuffed spinach pie, which they stuff with Greek salad. It is a good size serving. I also tried the Mediterranean pizza, which was also delicious. My husband had the buffalo chicken pizza, which he always likes from here. Our nephew had a pepperoni kids meal and fave it a thumbs up. We also had a long island a pumpkin martini, both were excellent. We will be back. read more

I went here for the first time a few days ago. I grew up in Cranston but never tried this place. Overall, it really wasn't that bad but, as usual, NOTHING is Gluten Free unless you want to be stuck getting a salad! That being said, I paid $10 for a small salad with a piece of dry chicken on top. I just wish there would be something for people with a gluten intolerance like myself that IS NOT a salad. The waitress wasn't the most pleasant person, but she wasn't really mean, just more like bored with everything. I am giving 3 stars strictly for a lack of GF options. I was shocked to realize this restaurant has been open since 1968 and I have never been here! It came up in a Yelp search so I called my friend, only to find out she had been there many times in the last 15 years and couldn't believe I had never been - so off we went! We were seated by a very friendly server who got us water and gave us a few minutes to look at the menu. The menu is pretty extensive and while they had lots of pizzas and other things that looked good, my friend told me the Greek salad was one of the best things there. I ordered the small Greek salad $ 5.45 (Feta cheese served atop our tossed salad garnished with Greek olives.) with cheese on the side, and a small Genoa Salami Sub $5.55 (Genoa Salami served with lettuce, tomato, dressing & provolone cheese.) with no cheese. The small Greek salad was awesome - a huge bowl of fresh crisp lettuce, cucumber, red onion, tomato, shaved carrots and Greek olives. I got the feta on the side but they give you a pretty big portion of it. What makes this salad awesome is the dressing. Ir's homemade and addictive. It's big enough for 2 people so I ended up eating about half. Would definitely order that again!!! My Genoa Salami sub came out toasted ( didn't realize it would - I would prefer it not toasted next time) and again was huge (see photo) .It was in a very tasty bread and had mayo, lettuce and tomato then topped with the salami and toasted. Delicious. My friend ordered a cup of the chicken noodle soup $2.95 which she said was delicious. She also got the small Chicken Parmigiana Sub $6.75 (Chicken tenders, baked & served with our homemade tomato sauce & provolone cheese.) It was a small but HUGE. She ended up leaving some bread but said the flavor was wonderful and what she usually got - it's her favorite. So you get lots of food for good prices. They have a bar, booths and tables, the servers were friendly but very busy. We will definitely come back and try the pizza based on other Yelp reviews!! read more

I come here 1-2 times per year and always during Christmas season. They go all out with the decorations and it's the most festive atmosphere I've seen around here. Regardless of the season, the staff has consistently been insanely nice. Their level of consistent hospitality defies restaurant logic, seriously. When you walk in things seem chaotic but someone on staff will magically appear within in moments to pleasantly greet you and find you a spot. The food isn't bad and is priced on par for what it is. On our last trip we skeptically tried the "pizza nachos" and were surprised to discover that they were actually really good. I hadn't been to The Big Cheese in many years. Remember the pizza was pretty good way back when. Met some friends there for lunch one day and really enjoyed the Pasta e Fagioli and the delicious homemade bread, so....I decided to pick up dinner while I was there. Ordered two orders of Chicken Parm w/soup to-go. The chicken soup was delicious and we received more than enough bread & butter. Gravy (a/k/a sauce) was tasty and there was a ton of pasta in each order. What was extremely disappointing (and gross too) was the chicken. My husband and I didn't mind the fact the chicken wasn't breaded or fried (saving a few calories isn't a bad thing!), but what we ABSOLUTELY minded was the fact that the three chicken tenders under gravy & cheese had the gristley tendon end still attached and the thin film-like tendon that covers about a third of tenders was also intact. The the tendon takes two seconds to cut off the tip of the tender and the filmy tendon just peels off once the meat is cooked and would've been such an easy fix. (I speak from experience having been a personal chef for many years.) This whole tendon/gristly texture made eating the meal quite a nasty experience. Sad to say most of the chicken parm went into the trash and in this household that rarely happens. Should've stuck with soup and bread. Maybe the chicken parm offering should be reworked to provide the customers with a better experience. Lesson learned. read more
