She has never been so calm when we picked her up. She normally is shaking and very stressed, but she must have really enjoyed her stay. Axel was also more relaxed than ever before. We just moved to Aubrey and not knowing anyone here we took our dog to The Big Dog House. Lorrie the owner was friendly and seemed to be attentive to our dog. He gets anxious when going somewhere new and Lorrie picked up on that. We were comfortable with his stay there and she has a beautiful facility with lots of area for dogs to run and play! She is an amazing caretaker and our dog seemed happy when we picked him up. No doubt we will be returning! read more

They were very compassionate as they understood we had an older fur baby that was on hospice, we appreciated their flexibility so much. I was happy to have located this doggy day care. I have a Belgian Malinois , and anyone that is educated about this breed knows they have high anxiety, and separation anxiety with their owners. I asked the owner Lorrie if I could leave my dog one night to see how he does. One of the workers Jeff took very well to my dog. He was great, and I felt safe/happy that my dog would be in great hands. Then a few hours after I left the complaining started the first night. Lorrie called me to let me know my dog kept tipping his water bowl. I told her that is something he did, and she assured me they have bowls that bolt down in the kennel so dogs don't drag them. The following morning, I get a call, and it sounded like more of a complaint then a follow up. I was told my dog had an accident in the kennel and decided to make "art" by dragging is bowl everywhere. Well, I thought we discussed having his water bowl bolted down cause it was an issue already? She also said my dog did not like her. She didn't understand cause his owner is a woman (me). From here I blew it off. I assumed this was her personality and just not take it personal. Unfortunately I received a call and a family member passed away. I asked Lorrie if she could keep my dog for the week. I was devastated, and grateful to have found a place for my dog. I went to drop off extra food for my dog. When I dropped off the food, the first thing she did was grab the bags of food and told me ," Girl YOU DON'T FEED YOUR DOG ENOUGH!!" I was shocked. I told her excuse me? She said her and Jeff were talking about how you can see my dog's ribs. I told her, I feed my dog well. He's in training, and this breed of dog is just slender. She said no you can see his ribs. She really made me feel bad. I told her I would go get more food but I had put extra in the bag. She said no it's ok. I told her I do not try to starve my dog. Lorrie told me " WELL IT SURE SEEMS LIKE IT!" Anyone that is educated on this breed knows these dogs are highly active and slender. My dog is taken to the vet regularly, and I am sure if I was starving my dog. Three weeks ago during his last vet visit the vet would of told me something. I left terribly upset. I already lost a relative and now this? So I went back to get my dog. I made other arrangement, but how dare her. She couldn't even pronounce Belgian Malinois correctly. She doesn't even know anything about the breed. My dog is well fed, trained, groomed, and taken care of. He also came back smelling like poop after one night at the kennel. I wonder how long it took her to clean his kennel? It's very sad it had to end like this. If she had a concern talk to me don't accuse me. Because I am a young women doesn't mean I am ignorant. LOVE THESE PEOPLE!!! Owner is wonderful lady, very friendly and knowledgeable. I call ahead but unless they are slammed with groomings I can usually get my 2 dogs in for a quick nail trim same day, no appt. First time I brought 70lb lab and 8lb Yorkie in for nail trims they did a fabulous job, got the nails very short and told me they used a technique where they push the cuticles back, preventing rapid growth I guess. Whatever it works, I don't have to take the babies in as often for nails. Probably once a month now that we are regulars. Also the Yorkie gets groomed and my (older) mama is VERY particular about how her dog looks, and they follow directions wonderfully. My mama is pleased lol. Have not used them for boarding but the business is on a nice chunk of land and they have open kennel runs, not crates, for the dogs to run around and play outside; tours for owners upon request. Reasonably priced and I would not mind paying more for their great service. Mama's nervous Yorkie is no longer anxious when she greets me at pickup. Dogs are very well treated and so am I, staff is very nice. Also they team up with a mobile VaxShack pet service for shots, microchipping etc, so the truck comes around once a month on a certain day which is great cause Mango, my lab, was in need of chipping. read more

Not only is the property beautiful and extremely well kept, Lorrie absoultely POURS herself into all the furry visitors! We left our Max (Boston Terrier) who requires meds three times a day, for 6 days with her and Jeff. I was completely at ease with the care plan and Lorrie actually went well above and beyond for him. I am SO grateful to have discovered The Big Dog House. There is NO doubt, that this will always be our home-away-from home for our current and future furry children! read more

They are awesome! I have four pooches, one is a 6yr old Jack/Chihuahua/Doxie mix (land shark) with anxiety/fear biting who had never been boarded prior to the BDH a few weeks ago. He came out of there a more confident dog! He sat in laps, he gave kisses (all on his terms, of course), and got lots of frisbee during his stay. The other 3 are easy-going: food, treats, and lots of lovies is all they need. We have them scheduled to stay at BDH again next week. The staff are so friendly, and I love that the owners live on-site so we don't have to worry about emergencies or the ever-changing weather causing any issues in the staff's ability to get to the facility (i.e., tornadoes, snow storms, etc. which might render some facilities unable to reach the boarders). Love these folks, and know my babies are in excellent hands when they stay here! read more

This is a review concerning my dogs', Jax and Mazie Freeman, stay at The Big Dog House from 9/13/18 through 9/16/18. I will say that the employees do generally provide great care for the dogs in their care. I was contacted on 9/16/2018 at 5:10 P.M. The kennel was calling to given an update about my dogs. As Jax had not been eating well, I was offered the chance to come pick up both of my animals early, that evening. I agreed. The kennel worker said she would gather their belongings and have them ready. My husband and I arrived at the kennel. I had to call the attendant to open the front gate. It was opened. My husband and I went in to the office. The attendant went to get my two dogs, that are our whole world. I see Jax come through the gate and then I hear the attendant calling for Mazie who was allowed to walk from the kennel to the office without a leash. Upon hearing that my precious dog is now loose in what I gathered was a contained area, I overhear the attendants talking about the front gate being open. My heart sank to my feet. I ran out calling, frantically for my dog, who then ran out front, towards an open gate and a very busy highway. I ran through the building, out the front door and was luckily able to grab my collar-less, unidentifiable, 75 lb. dog before she could run out the front gate to either be lost for good or meet certain death on a very busy highway. THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO DO BUSINESS. On top of letting Mazie loose, their collars and leashes were misplaces. I chose your kennel because you genuinely seemed to care for the animals, but that single moments careless and negligence could have meant total heartbreak and devastation for my family!!!!!! I do not want to harm your business, but this experience affected my family profoundly. To the point that we will not return to your facility. I have many safeguards in my own home to prevent my dogs from being on the loose. Perhaps a new protocol should be put in to place at your facility. The day following this incident, I presented the kennel wit the above written complaint. I received a belligerent reply to my face. All the person would say is, "I new I should'nt have let you pick up your dogs on a Sunday." The day doesn't matter, you let my dog loose.The establishment claims they have not lost a dog in 15 years. Well you let mine loose and I had to catch her. You also claim you will dispute my review. YOU CANNOT DISPUTE THE FACT THAT YOU LET MY DOG LOOSE. There is a sign by your front door that says all dogs must be on a leash. Thanks Big Dog house for taking on our miss rowdy, Fia (70 pounds of "I don't listen really great"). First boarding experience with her and we were nervous. They answer any and all questions - most before you realize it's a question to ask - shows they been doing for a while. Really like that they are there on premise as weather can change quickly here and animals can have "emergency issues" as well - being there means heart is in their caring for your fur kids. read more

They treat your pet like family. We have brought are two pups here for a couple years now and every time we bring them the dogs are excited to see the family that works there. I brought my fur baby here since I had no clue where I could take her and who/where I could trust with her. I was living in the area at the time and past The Big Dog House everyday on my way to work, I decided to call because I was running out of time to find a place for her to stay for a couple days. The owner was super nice on the phone and told me about leaving them with a dog sitter. I brought my baby here and was stressing because I didn't know how she would behave being with people she didn't know, the owners allowed me to sit with her in their meet and greet area and my baby was right at home. They showed me where she would sleep and play and made sure me and my dog were comfortable before I left. I saw them the next day when they came into my work to buy supplies after a storm and they told me she was doing wonderful and having a lot of fun. I will most definitely be bringing my dog back here if I ever have to leave town! Everyone I met when I went up there were amazing! Some of the best customer service I have experience. read more
