Dear Midwestern cyclists -- I consider myself a real expert when it comes to the area of the 'customer experience'. My Mother, who is well into her 60's, decided to take the initiative to pull her adult tricycle out of the garage and give her body a well-meaning fitness program for the summer. This antique was one that 3 of 4 local bike shops had not seen nor could they confirm the ability to help me/her/us to get it repaired and ready-for-road -- all but one. Kit is the Manager of The Bike Hub in Glen Ellyn and while I've never met the owner, I can tell you that this guy runs that shop like a 'Boss'...no 'The BOSS'!!! When my mom walked through the store, she was intimidated and doubtful that they could address her needs...based on the modern-style inventory that hung on the walls and over her head, but Kit took one look at her bike and raised his hand high to take the job. Attentive, knowledgeable, resourceful, courteous, timely & very, very, VERY reasonably priced, are at least a handful of accolades that come to mind to describe the 'Customer Experience' at TBH. I wish I could get my mom to sign-off on the 60 second video I shot of her, riding her fixed wheels around the back-o-store parking lot with Kit (on his bike) riding next to her. It's six (6) stars folks for this review...The Bike Hub is hands-down one of the best experiences I've had for 2017, a definite 'Summer Thumbs Up' for your outdoorsy types. GREAT JOB read more

Best shop in the area by far! They really it the mark in catering to all Cyclist Levels. As an avid cyclist it's nice to know a shop really tries to help everyone out. As someone who owns both Road and Mountain bikes Mark and his crew have all of my business. I've watched them bed over backwards helping mom and dads with their kids bikes left and right and at the same time having a specialist tech working in super high end Tri bikes or MTB platforms. For my kids they love knowing this shop is for all of us and we can enjoy checking things out as the atmosphere in the shop is so inviting and clean. They always keep good stock of supplies and even with everything going on they have kept my family and I rolling all season long. Unmatched Service and attention to detail After finally purchasing all of the parts needed to build up my first custom bike I decided I wanted to enlist the help of my local bike store, the Bike Hub. Easily one of the best decisions I've made in my biking career. Mark and the boys in the shop were always available to answer my questions throughout the build process and built up my Soma Pescadero with a level of detail unmatched in my bike shop experience. I have taken my bike in for routine tune ups in Chicago and every mechanic has gone out of their way to compliment the craftsmanship that went into the build. TL;DR: Mark is a consummate bike mechanic that I will be using for all future builds. He embodies the ethos of the local bike shop and brings passion to all that he does. The Bike Hub is an excellent local business and a source of pride for Glen Ellyn. I've been here several times and they've always been super helpful, attentive, and fast. Once for two tune-ups, once for a pedal purchase, and once last-minute to install the new pedals because I found out I'm a dweeb when it comes to bike maintenance. For the last-minute pedal change, they also quickly fixed some slipping gears for me, no questions asked. PS - I'm honestly reading some of the negative reviews and pretty baffled. I guess some people on Yelp just live life in a perpetual state of road rage. Those people *could* just call the Bike Hub and directly tell them what upset them, but instead they decide to try and hurt a great local business that's serving the community. The Bike Hub is a great LBS for riders of all skill level. They're always friendly and quick to help out whenever I've been there. I purchased a fat bike there recently and they went out of their way to make sure I found the bike that was right for me. I also brought in a "vintage" bike to upgrade as a back up bike for the Prairie Path and the mechanic was very straight forward on how much work would need to be done to get it upgraded. He suggested I was better off with a tuneup vs upgrade, I appreciated the honesty. The work I've had done on other bikes has always been done properly and quickly. They probably have about 25 bikes on the floor with four times that in the basement. I highly recommend checking them out. read more

Initially, I came into The Bike Hub looking for some advice on a suitable bike to replace my girlfriends cheap target one. At first, I just wanted to get an idea of what type of bike I wanted to get my girlfriend but Mark's (owner) service was so great, I had to buy a bike from his establishment! I mean he answered every question that I asked him to the T and he let my girlfriend test ride the bike and didn't rush us! When we finally decided on the right bike he personally made sure it was ready to ride and even helped me get it into my car! If you're reading this, thanks for the awesome service Mark. I've purchased two bikes and a high-end fork from Mark at The Bike Hub, and have always had a great experience there. I'll go there despite the shop being a bit out of the way for me. Best aspect is the attitude of Mark and all his staff, which is to say, they don't cop an attitude towards new riders, casual riders, old people who refuse to act their age or people on economy bikes. They are friendly and respectful.The condescension all too common in specialty sports stores of all types is absent here. New staff are just the same as former staff in this regard; I can tell that Mark hires carefully. read more

Just picked up two bikes we purchased for my wife and me. Can't say enough good things about the service we received throughout the process. Kit was great. He never pressured us. Seemed very interested in helping us find the best bikes for our needs. Answered all our questions. We ended up purchasing the Cannondale Quick 4 for both. He also gave us a discount for purchase of two bikes. We went to at least 4 other bike shops and none would offer that, including those that sold Cannondale. Mark and the staff are beyond awesome. I came across this local shop when I was looking for a bmx race bike. Mark answered all my questions and suggested a quick ride to test it out. I was sold. They even performed a check over it before leaving the store to ensure it was in proper riding condition. I was so happy with their service I brought my sons bmx race bike in for a tune up a few days later. Even with a short notice, I was able to bring it in the next day and with a quick turn around. My bike was running especially rough so I brought it in for service. They originally quoted me 1-2 weeks, which isn't surprising considering how busy bike shops have been during these stay at home orders. I left my bike with them on Tuesday morning, and by Friday afternoon they called me to let me know my bike was ready. Super knowledgeable and even more welcoming! The shop is beautiful and pleasant. But I can't say enough about how these guys make you feel at home shopping there. The bikes are reasonably priced. The mechanics know their stuff but aren't snobby. They take the time to explain all your options and work hard to give a good estimate. I had a shifting problem with my bike while on the Prairie Path and located the Bike Hub in Glen Ellyn, IL on a internet search. I walked in with my bike and was greeted by Abby who immediately diagnosed my problem and said she could fix it in half an hour at a really low price.
