I've had my bike serviced here many times. Tony always fixes the bike beyond what I expected. He usually calls out what mistakes previous bike owners made when attempting to build or service the bike. Some people don't like the honesty and find it rude, I find it refreshing. Ordered a bike online during the pandemic and i put it together myself. After a few months I needed my tire tube replaced and couldnt figure out out to fill it so i brought it here to replace the tube and fill it with air. As soon as i told him what i needed he asked where did i get the bike and started degrading me for ordering it online and building it myself. Okay granted i installed the handle bar on backwards but HE IS SO RUDE and he talks down to you like YOURE AN IDIOT. HIS CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS AND HE'S A JERK! I just bought a new bmx online and wanted to make sure it was properly so i went here. First of all, i bring the bike in and he gives me a sigh. He keeps asking me why i bought a bike online when i can just buy it at his store... to remind you his store has no good bmx bikes. The guy probably only gives good service to the people who buy his bikes at his store. He kept sighing at me after i answer a question which made me feel like crap. if i go to a store happy to get my new bike made then i wouldn't want some ass hole doing it. Well then... now that we have talked about how rude this guy is... let me tell you about his skills. He told me he has 40 years of experience but WOAH. This guys maintenance is terrible. I dont know what he did for 40years but damn. What i thought was that he didnt take good care of it because this bike was not bought from his shop. I do not recommend this shop to anyone. If you are new to biking especially. He will shut you down and sigh at you making you feel like the most stupid person ever. read more

I could not be any more aggravated by the owner of this bike shop. I have tried going there several times because it is convenient to my house and I try to support small business, but each time I have regretted it. This last trip was the final straw as the owner had sold me the wrong size tire and when I went back with it today for replacement, he became extremely rude and confrontational. I totally agree with some other reviewers who mention his sighs and eye-rolling because he does seem to go out of his way to make you feel like you're bothering him and that we are so much less intelligent. Meanwhile, the place is always empty and he's never even been servicing a bike when I have gone in there. Also, I had gone there for a new bike for my ten year old last fall and was trying to work out a price on a nice Trek he had there. When I even mentioned taking some money off if I paid cash, he told me I should probably just go buy a bike at Target instead!! Instead I went to Ridgewood where I was treated with respect and was given a decent discount off the suggested price. I will never set foot in Bikeworks again. Not only do I doubt that he knows much about bikes, aside from trying to sell them, but he is the rudest business owner I have ever encountered. read more

Tony Ward sold me my #1 road bike, a Somec, back in 1999. Since that time he also sold me my "winter rat," a Cannondale CAAD5. Both are fully Campy equipped. They are tuned to perfection. Whenever I need something done I go to Tony, who does the job very well indeed. Since he once worked on the Tour DuPont and has plenty of experience in the world of professional cycling, Tony has a lot to say about biking in general, all of it reasonable and well-informed. I guess I can understand how, as some here say, he can come off as "arrogant," yet he honestly wants to let customers know when they are trying to make do with inferior goods. They really should listen to him about what is and is not a good bike, for while Tony is opinionated, he is a very sharp fellow and doesn't pull punches in talking about quality. I have been glad to be his friend since I met him, and I have always trusted his judgment: A#1! read more

I felt like I was in a 1950's movie, buying my bike on Main St. Friendliness, I felt like the most important person there. Selection, the newest bike on the market he had. I was a customer of Ridgewood Cycle, they are good people, but get in, spend your money, and get out! I bought a 2016 Cannondale CAAD 12 105, loaded it up with accessories and was on my way. The shop is located less than 1/2 mile from the Saddle River Bike Path, which is so convenient. Give this place a try, you will be glad you did. read more

This is the only shop that will provide complete service before and after the purchase. All is standard here including proper bike fitting, setup and any adjustments that may be needed.after few rides. Good conversation and ideas are also included and highly appreciated. Bought a Cannondale CAAD 10 105 because it had the best price in the area. what i did not pay in price i am paying in customer service. the owner is to say the least rude and very disrespectful once you close the deal. Treats you like you know nothing of bikes...but guess what some of us do know something even if we don't own a bike shop. The owner claims he has 40 years of experience, i am not doubting that, but the level of craftsmanship is just not there. Do not expect any bike fitting at all! Right of the bat, the brake calipers were not aligned properly to the rim and the front derailer took a couple of trips to the shop to be fixed. both times the owner was not happy to see me there and had his eyes rolling when asked the simplest question. i ended up switching the crankset from a compact one to a traditional type and found out that it was installed improperly (no grease and wrong spacers position as per FSA manual). he also scratched the frame and front derailer when fixing the bike. in the end i just love my cannondale but wished i had it gotten somewhere else. read more
