08/01/23: Lunch break from work go-live. Wasn't very crowded seated immediately. Staff very accommodating and pleasant. Restaurant is definitely eclectic. Ordered shrimp salad. Pleasantly delicious. Reasonable priced. If in the area again would definitely return and try other items.

The Birchwood was such a surprise find in Riverhead! The restaurant is very cozy and has very fun decor. My partner and I weren't too hungry so we were thinking of ordering just the combo platter to share but our waitress warned us there would be a sharing fee so we ordered an extra pierogi appetizer to avoid the fee. Understandable, no complaints. The pierogis were delicious, fried to a great crisp and filled with cheesy goodness. Everything on the platter was very good and a very fair portion. Highly recommend!

Service was great, from the moment we stepped in to the minute we got up to leave. Space was well prepared for covid restrictions also bright and clean. They have a very extensive menu but we opted for their specials... They had very unique dish that I've only had homemade... Meatballs in this rich thick ginger snap silesian sauce... It's a regional delicacy eaten in the Eastern parts of Germany (Silesia) that became part of Poland after 1945. Sadly this dish did not compare and I was sooo hoping it would :/. However everything else we tried was delicious, their pierogi's were phenomenal as well as the creamy creme brulee. We will definitely give this place another try and be back to try more things on their regular menu.

Drove out to Riverhead on a whim. Great service, fantastic people there!! Got a gluten free veggie vegan pasta that was awesome. The rest of my party got french dip that was also great per them. Sorry so short, but busy enjoying myself and the food and the people!!! But especially the service by... Terry I was told , world class terrific.

By far and away the worst I've experienced. I took away a star for this reason. The new spot aesthetically is just okay. As always with local restauranteurs little to no attention paid to the noise level. My ears were bleeding throughout dinner. The restaurant needs decor which creates a warmer inviting presence. Our food was delicious but the wait time for the meals and drinks was insufferable. BTW, the wait time for the check was equally as painful. To the owners, get your (you know what) together and figure this out. You will not succeed unless immediate improvements are made.

We ordered fried calamari as appetizers and a zuppa di pesce - while zuppa is translated as soup in English, the dish is closer to what may be considered a fish stew. In addition to the fried calamari we also ordered a large salad that we split. Cova is a unique restaurant that serves dinner in a family-style format. This means that the entrees are designed to be shared between two or four people. While the food is excellent, for a hungry person, the amount per serving is not worth the price. Unfortunately, the cappuccino maker was not in service, so I ordered a regular cup of decaffeinated coffee. Regrettably, the coffee was not to my liking. The Takeaways: 1. The food is very tasty. 2. The coffee is not good. 3. The price to portion ration is poor. 4. Parking is ample. 5. Make reservations.

The description of the restaurant, the menus and the reviews online made us to decide to give them a try. We're so glad that we did! We entered through the bar entrance which was lively but not crazy loud. There was a musician setting up in one corner of the bar area. We could hear him during our dinner but it was not at all distracting (and he was quite good). We were greeted by one of the hosts (who I now believe may be one of the owners). We were welcomed and escorted to a table in the dining room right behind the bar area. From what I could determine, there were at least two other dining areas and an outside dining area (for dining during the nicer weather). Our server quickly came to welcome us, ask if we had questions about the menu / specials and to take our drink order. She was attentive, pleasant and was able to quickly and accurately answer questions that we had (we have some dietary restrictions and needed to verify some ingredients. She knew immediately what we could order to dine safely. We started our order with the Chiccharon appetizer. I had anticipated that the item would be traditional crispy Chiccaron. Instead the dish was more of a pork belly in a broth. We actually enjoyed that much more! It was plentiful, cooked to perfection and flavorful. For dinner my wife and our friend ordered the sea bass special. They both thought it was plentiful, perfectly prepared and tasted great. I ordered the pork chop with spicy cherry peppers in a light evoo broth. I told our server that I wasn't eating potatoes or rice and asked for a recommendation for a substitute. She recommended the broccolini which was a perfect alternative. My pork chop was served perfectly (medium, juicy,) and was huge! We passed on dessert but the options looked amazing. We will absolutely be back again SOON. Thank you.

What began as a tiny oyster shack quickly became a gathering place for locals and visitors alike, introducing countless people to the art of shucking and enjoying fresh local oysters. Over the years, a loyal community formed around their welcoming, family-like atmosphere and genuine "come as you are" attitude. The memories made there--and the children who grew up with this beloved seaside fixture as part of their lives--are truly impossible to quantify. Fortunately for all of us, Little Creek Oysters embarked on a new home that allowed them to continue their vision while expanding it in exciting ways. Their new location at 211 Carpenter Street offers an inventive menu, an exceptional selection of local seafood, and a beautifully curated modern-rustic seafaring aesthetic that feels both fresh and authentically North Fork. Today, guests can enjoy the experience across two floors, plus an inviting outdoor patio complete with fire pits, good company, and the unmistakable charm that made Little Creek special from the very beginning. No visit to Greenport is complete without rubbing elbows with local fishermen, residents, and visitors while enjoying some of the finest local oysters around. She noted that the wait time for service will be a problem for the restaurant because people expect service. I felt badly for the young woman and didn't mind the wait. I chose not to order a second drink because my meal was completed. The cod was excellent as well as the Crispy Pork Dinner. If you have time and patience it is a very good restaurant. Unfortunately in today's economy and it being off season, many establishments must make cutbacks to stay in the black. There were 6 sets of diners for this young woman to manage in addition to the phone. I hope the owner recognizes what a diamond they have with this employee and hope another restaurant doesn't snatch her up. Besides her winning personality, she was excellent as a bartender. Best margarita I've had in a restaurant in a long time. Be certain to give this restaurant a chance.
