I have been wanting to try this place for a while. I got the iced Cardi B (a latte with house-made cardamom brown sugar syrup with espresso and almond milk) and my fiance an iced mocha. The first sip of the Cardi B, my eyes rolled back, and I nodded to how good it was. It's not too sweet (I ordered all of this online on their website for pick up and was not able to ask for it half sweet, but glad they didn't over-sweeten it). The cardamom flavor is prominent, so if you don't like that flavor, I'd choose something else. I also ordered some breakfast items. I got the Lil' Verda, which is a breakfast burrito on a flour tortilla with scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, avocado, and salsa verde ( I also added sausage to it). It's pretty tasty! It's a big burrito for being on a medium flour tortilla. I got the fiancé a breakfast sandwich on a brioche bun (you can choose what bread you want; they even have gluten-free) that came with scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, and I added bacon for him (adding a meat was only $2, which is reasonable). As I said, I pre-ordered everything on their online ordering system. My order was ready when I got there as promised. The staff member who helped me was super nice and pointed out where the hot sauce (Tapatio) and straws were. They do have separate windows for ordering and pickup. If you order online, just head to the pick-up window. It is a little spendy (breakfast sandwich w/ added meat $10.75, burrito w/ added sausage $12.75, and two espresso drinks at roughly $8 and some change), however, everything is going up in price (Gas is up to $5.09 +), so take that as you will. Overall, it's a cute little spot nestled in a neighborhood. There is street parking, but it's in an area that isn't too hard to find parking, as it is further away from the very busy spots of West Seattle. I really wanted to like this spot, but it was 50/50 for me. The weekend special Reuben croissant was fantastic but the breakfast burrito was not great. Also, the menu on the wall is not super helpful because there are no prices listed for the base breakfast sandwich or prices for additional fillings or toppings. So if you don't ask for prices or look online (there's a QR code on the menu, I apparently skipped over this when ordering), you might end up spending a good chunk of change for your breakfast sandwich. It's around $8.75 for the base (bread, eggs, cheese) + $2ish per filling/meat + $1-3 per topping + Sauces are $0.50 Reuben croissant: asked for this warmed and the outside of the croissant was flaky and delicious, meat was yum, sauerkraut added a nice texture and acidity, and there was a sauce in there was was tasty too! Really enjoyed this one Super burrito: comes with eggs, bacon, cheese, black beans, sour cream, avocado, and salsa. It was tough to find the bacon or taste it because it was cut in small pieces. The black beans were sweet and they overpowered the whole thing with sweetness. The arugula didn't add much and was kind of annoying because it was clumped in one bite and hard to chew through. My partner and I stopped in on the way to the ferry during our vacation. It is a cute walk up window spot with pastries, breakfast sandwiches and coffee drinks and specials. Very tucked in neighbourhood vibe which was great. My partner really enjoyed their sandwich. I got an almond croissant that was a bit disappointing but still did the job. The coffee drinks were decent and did the job whist waiting for the ferry. I marked them down significantly because it was a Friday morning at 7:30am and there was a large trash container in the waiting area directly in front of their kitchen a/c exhaust and it honestly smelled like a decomposing body and all the hot air was pushing it out towards the sidewalk/street. I dont want to know what was in there but there's no way this establishment doesn't know about this smell and why would they even have this little dumpster right there rather than to the side or back of the building. It was vile and I literally had to stand and wait for my coffee half a block down the street and just pray we could leave soon! read more

Just moved over to West Seattle and I always love To find new coffee, breakfast spots! I came across The Birdhouse. This a walk-up counter spot. Seating out side but no inside. They are known for their breakfast sandwiches. They have breakfast and regular sandwiches. I got a "build your own" with sausage egg avocado tomatoe on a brioche bun. It was delicious. They also have this fire cracker sauce which I loved. Next time I come I want to try and regular sandwich or the salmon bagel. One of my new fav spots in west Seattle. Come check them Out. read more

The food was okay could have had more flavor, I'm not sure it is something I'd go get again but it was fun trying, for 15$ you can get a breakfast sandwich which is a bit steep but it is a decent sized sandwich. Loved this place that was 5 min drive from our bnb, my boyfriend liked it so much we went back 2 days in a row. He got their strawberry lemonade and breakfast sandwich on a croissant. I got a honey lavender latter which was pretty good, the smoked salmon bagel that came with dill creme cheese, cucumbers and pickled red onions which was pretty good. The second time, I had got the Henderson hash which was so good and bigger portion than I expected. A delightful spot to stumble upon while visiting Seattle. Even with a line forming, the staff kept things moving quickly and efficiently, making the wait short and pleasant. Seattle has so many cool little food establishments stuffed into hole-in-the-wall buildings, trailers, pretty much any covered space you can think of. The Birdhouse has no interior seating, just a couple of windows for ordering/picking up your selections. We stopped here a couple times during our work trip and enjoyed the excellent sandwiches here. We had the Firebird and the Farmhouse. The Firebird has smoked turkey layered with pepperjack cheese and lettuce with their own spicy hot sauce, set atop a scrumptious chewy jalapeno chedder bagel. The sauce definitely has a kick but it all melds together nicely. The Farmhouse is a turkey/ham/cheddar affair using a more traditional style hoagie bun slathered with a mustard/mayo sauce. Both were huge sandwiches (I had to save part of mine for later snacking at the hotel) and all of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. There are all sorts of coffee drinks here (natch, it's Seattle) and some dessert items as well. Great little place to stop in the neighborhood. Recommended. read more

My boyfriend said he was in the mood for a breakfast burrito before his bowling tournament today so in my Yelp-girlfriend-fashion, I searched for spots near us. The Birdhouse popped up as #1 and I have heard of this spot but never been here myself. The breakfast menu is extensive! They have salads, toasts, sandwiches, bagels, burritos, pastries, etc. I got a Smoked salmon bagel sandwhich and it was SO good! I loved everything on it but personal preference, I'd ask for no pickled onions next time. A little too onion-y for me which overpowered the rest of the toppings. My boyfriend loved his burrito and said it cured the craving. It is a walk up business so when we got there, they already had a line going. I would keep in mind that drinks come out pretty fast but food takes about 10 minutes.. or at least it did for us on a Sunday morning. The only flaw, in my opinion, is this spot doesn't have any matcha! They do have a pretty big drink menu which is amazing but I wish they had a drink for us matcha lovers. Pricy little sandwiches that are worth EVERY. SINGLE. PENNY. Serving size of the sandwich was great! No little sandwich served at this joint! They also dont short you on meat or avocado! Stopped by for brunch after getting out of the airport, and I was not disappointed. I was excited to try this spot as the pictures looked incredible and I love all things breakfast and coffee. I got the breakfast sandwich and the egg looked like a round microwaved hockey puck with 1 piece of a suggestion of shredded cheese on it and zero flavor. I got it on the brioche which also had zero flavor and a weird consistency. I adore all things coffee and tried one of their seasonal pot of gold and it had large crunchy junks of sugar ? at the bottom and wasn't good the profile said it would be pistachio with a touch of Carmel. I couldn't taste pistachio just a strange over sweet crunchy iced coffee. My partner got the hash and she finishes everything usually and she didn't like hers either and tossed over half of it, it looked tasty but needed so much seasoning. She tried the Mexican mocha and thought it just tasted like orange, she also threw this out after a few sips and we left hungry abd got coffee down the street. We were both really disappointed, we spent over 50 dollars to eat bland food in the car. Sorry but for that price I'd like to enjoy the food and be able to have a cute environment to eat it in. The line can get long, but it moves: *Cardi B - OK it's a cardamom latte, but I laughed out loud when I read the sharpie scribble on the side of my cup - "Cardi B." Visiting out of town and this spot is close by. I spent around $50 and to me it wasn't worth it. We had the Mexican hot chocolate and cappuccino. The Mexican chocolate was so spicy it was unbearable was so heartbroken I ordered their large only to waste it... the cappuccino also tasted very burnt. I ordered their grinder sub that wasn't a grinder at all but more like an Italian. For the price point it was a scam of a soggy sandwich. I've stopped in at The Birdhouse a couple of times before and really liked it, but now that I live up the street I have walked my dog down for a coffee and a snack several times- and I must say that they are consistently awesome! The coffee is good and so far everything that I have had from the breakfast burrito to the baked goods (including my favorite, the Monkey Business muffin) are always great. The Birdhouse will forever be known as "Bubbles" to me. I really like the vibe of The Birdhouse and would definitely recommend! When it's sunny, they have a bubble machine on in the background of their small building for ambiance. This all adds to Birdhouse's charm, and I couldn't help smiling when the bubbles started. I popped a couple of bubbles that floated by while drinking me latte. To order, it's basically a walk up window with plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy your coffee and breakfast. This makes it much more COVID-safe in my opinion and a good coffee spot. Coffee drinks typically range from $4-$5, and breakfast food items range anywhere from $7-$13. I would have liked my Chai to be spicier (as a personal preference) but it was tasty nonetheless. I also ordered a pretty yummy breakfast sandwich, too. They give you options for your breakfast sandwich makings (so I had the Everything Bagel with cheddar and sausage). The bagel tasted fresh, having a good chew and plenty of poppy seeds.
