Every thing that I heard about The Biscuit Joint is absolutely true. lol Being that I am a huge lover of all things biscuits/ biscuits and gravy and that we kept hearing about how bomb the food was here, my friend and I just had to go check out The Biscuit Joint to see for ourselves. I ordered the OG breakfast sandwich, biscuits and gravy, and an orange juice to drink. My friend ordered some scrambled eggs, hash browns, and some biscuits and gravy with an orange juice to drinks well. As soon as I took my first bite, I immediately knew that we made the right decision eating here. lol The biscuits were so buttery and fresh and the gravy was super rich in flavor. I saw this place on an Instagram reel and knew I had to visit! I love that Midtown is growing! The menu is small, but really good with rotating specials! The inside is also quite small. I think the intention is probably more for carry-out service. They have maybe 10-15 stools total? A handful around the bar top, where you can watch them prep your food, and a handful at the two windows. Visited the Biscuit Joint which is located in an area which I suppose you could call "up and coming" on Washington Avenue - basically around where Downtown West turns into Midtown. It's awesome to see a new business in this area. And the fact that it's breakfast? Even better! I still miss Red Oak on Washington Ave, so I was very exited to try this place. I had places to be this day, so I actually did pickup for this order, via "Toast". My wife wanted to try the TBJ Cinnamon Roll but for some reason this was marked as "sold out" on the Toast app, despite folks inside ordering it when I went to pickup the order. Not a big deal though - there's always next time. I picked up the OG sandwich (pictured) along with the loaded tots with Chorizo, and finally the Dally P. The OG was the best thing I had. Very good homemade sausage patty, amazing biscuit. It was perfect and worth a visit just for that sandwich. The Dally P was "ok". I didn't love the chicken patty which while I'm sure it's fresh, gave a pre-packaged perfectly round vibe. It had an odd taste and just wasn't for me. The loaded tots were good, but EXTREMELY salty. I didn't finish those either. Honestly though, I would go back for the OG alone - which was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had in a long time, and to try some other things on the menu. A couple misses for me but you're not always going to like every single thing. Verdict: Def worth a try. UPDATE 5/26/24: Tried again on 5/26 and again got the OG again and this time tried the Papa as well. Both were quality, the Papa could have used a bit more of the sweet sauce (Juke I believe it's called) to offset some of the salty. Keeping my original rating - good but very heavy/salty. Wanted to try out this breakfast place. It definitely did not disappoint. Sage and mushroom gravy was outstanding as the sage provided a level of complexity and the mushrooms some meatiness. I don't eat pork so I was very appreciative of the gravy. The biscuits were flaky, yet dense and luscious. The biscuit sandwich was outstanding. Loved the bread and butter pickles actually could've used a couple more on there to be honest. The Calabrian chili cheese sauce tasted delicious. My only complaint was a bit pricey as the gravy and one biscuit was eight dollars while the biscuit was 14 dollars. But I also knew what I was paying. It wasn't like it was hidden lol. The homemade sausage patty on the OG and the house Juke Jam on the Papa, made what was already a great biscuit, absolutely phenomenal Service- Ok, sometimes you get good service, but we were so lucky this day to get not only a happy, helpful staff, but they were also super cool, had great tips for the local scene, and an all around superb service. Decided to do a take out order for breakfast. The service was very quick and I was able to get our food in less than 10 minutes. I was a little skeptical of that but the food was still hot and fresh and not as it had been sitting under a warmer. We ordered the mushroom gravy and biscuits and the roasted chicken gravy and a side of tots. You get two biscuits cut in half with the gravy. My fiancé said the tots were the best he ever had and I would have to agree. Nice crunch and amazing seasoning. The mushroom gravy was my favorite. It had great flavor and the biscuits were not as fluffy but were flaky to a certain degree. The roasted chicken gravy was good but just way too salty. These biscuits are fantastic. They are very moist and not too dry. I think I told my friends 5+ times how good my sandwich was. It was bacon egg and cheese with peach jam and a side of aioli. It was pretty good and flavorful (to me), although not typical biscuits and gravy and was off putting to my partner for that reason. The syrup addition wasn't bad....just odd. My main gripe is they were blaring club beats at 10 AM. Please turn down the music! Terrible ambience for breakfast and the bar we sat at was pretty dirty. Altogether it was like $25 for a total of three (3) biscuits which felt like a rip off since the space was so annoying to sit in. I wouldn't write this place off, but at least know what you're getting into. Staff was nice. First, the establishment is sparse - no tables, only bar-tabletop seating, so take out might be your only option. Fortunately, I was the first customer and had no problem getting a seat. The food was very good. The Scouter is nothing special, but it does what it's meant to do - simple and good. They cooked my 3 bacon strips connected together, so I had one big strip, but the quality and taste were both very good. The orange juice was bottled Florida's Natural, so it was fine. Popped into the biscuit joint while visiting STL after seeing some local foodies post about them on Instagram. This place is legit. It's small, definitely set up more for carry out but there is a counter with some seating to dine in, which is what we did. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. The biscuits were perfect, buttery with a little crumble and a nice crust. The pairings for the sandwich toppings were well thought out, the flavors all went together and created a perfect balance. My least favorite item was the cinnamon roll but honestly it just had like a strong clove (or maybe anise?) flavor which is not my preference but others may really enjoy it. It had a really nice texture and glaze. The staff were all very friendly and it was cool to see the chefs whipping everything out. We even got to see some items being prepped for later in the day. We are regualrs at omen coffee right next door, and every time we have gone biscuit joint always has a line out the door! We finally decided to go, and I'm glad we did! I think going a bit later in the morning must be the key, as we showed up around 1130 and there was no line. The space is super cute, the staff is super outgoing and friendly, and the food is tasty! They gave us a free cinnamon roll, which was fantastic. Definitely a bit different than a standard cinnamon roll, as theirs has star anise and clove in it. We will most definitely go back! They only have counter top seating so that could have been a problem since Sue is in a wheelchair. After we ordered, they had us go next door to Omen coffee shop. We ordered coffee and juice there and they brought our food to us. In both locations the staff went out of their way to help us, pushing the wheelchair from one location to the other. Checking on us midway to be sure everything was good. The only problem is typical of older neighborhoods the street parking and sidewalks were not in the best repair and somewhat difficult for a wheelchair to navigate.
