Probably one of the best places to dine in the Monument area. Very bijou style premises with dining on multiple floors of a converted house. Good to call ahead to get reservations as can be busy. My son ordered lobster ravioli which was amazing, yes I stole some! Tasted great, and had a fresh taste to it. I ordered salmon which was perfectly cooked. It did take a very long time for our meals to arrive, but when they did eventually arrive they were worth the wait. read more

Good food in Colorado is hard to find and WOW! They know how to do good fish. My hubby ordered the special and I'm sad I didn't. The waitress said fish is on the specials so the chef can keep it fresh. We enjoyed a bottle of Mija Sangria. Nice summer drink. The atmosphere is probably the best for Monument for an upper end restaurant. Something that was seriously needed. If the rain was not coming down, the patio would have been perfect! read more

I was surprised. A friend suggested that we have lunch at The Bistro, and it was fabulous. The wine list and cocktail menu were wonderful. I had a delicious Cosmo, with a crab cake that was mostly crab, followed by a delectable salad with feta, grapefruit, mandarin oranges, and avocado. The dressing was inspired. What an amazing belated Valentine's Day dinner at this cozy, charming restaurant! We should have taken photos but I was enjoying everything so much, it never crossed my mind! My hubby and I both splurged on filet mignon that was perfectly cooked, tender, juicy, oh my! Our waitress was very attentive and accommodating. The red wine blend was lovely with the meal. Crisp green beans and scrumptious mashed potatoes were perfect sides. A great surprise was the chef preparing a flaming spinach salad for a neighbor's dinner. The huge flame warmed the room and awed us all. Then, surprise, he shared a bit of it with us! That is what you call above and beyond! Can't wait to return! read more

This restaurant is located in the heart of downtown Monument. It's a gem with plenty of creative food and drink options. It's not the cheapest on the block - expect to pay anywhere from $20-35 for an entree. **And I believe The Bistro should include prices on its online menu.** But great ambiance, great food, plenty of drinks to choose from and a professional and knowledgeable waitress (I wish i could personally credit her - we were upstairs on Saturday evening - 2/24 - for a 7p reservation) make this the perfect place of that special occasion. read more

I've been going here from the beginning after Wisdom Tea House moved out. As a Monument resident, I was over the moon excited to hear our town was getting a restaurant with a real chef, (guy from Joseph's Hatch Cover I believe) that serves food crafted on site. (None of that chain restaurant re-heated from the freezer kind of stuff.) Bistro on 2nd is the GO-TO-PLACE FOR REAL FOOD IN MONUMENT!! Thank you for taking our food scene up a few notches. I love the food here! Tasty, reasonably priced, and cooked by a chef. That's all I want from a restaurant but the atmosphere and outdoor area is just amazing too! We stopped in here for a quick late afternoon snack. The service was okay: we were seated promptly since there were only 4 other people sitting in the patio. We ordered the charcuterie board and one chunk of cheese was delivered with green mold in it. Although the server took it away with a apology and brought a new board (this time with no green cheese), there was nothing about it that made it great. Items in the board were disappointing: olives, pickles, two different types of cheese, two types of meats, mustard l, a few olives, and olive tapenade. I've been going to this restaurant since we moved to Monument in 2017 and have seen this place go through a number of chefs; some not very good. However, Chef Cruz is there now and they are now putting out some really memorable food. Let's talk about the fish chowder. I'm from NY and I will put his fish chowder up against any chowder I've had there and I've had some excellent ones. Everything I have had I loved. He does brussel sprouts with dates and it is so delicious sometimes I go there just for that. And let me tell you if you like a nice charcuterie board, they have one that will blow you away. It's in an old historic house and it's very charming with the different rooms. And to add to it, the service is just amazing. Wine list is interesting and quite reasonable. Oh so disappointed...The menu pictures here on Yelp are from 2-3 yrs ago and not reflective of the current selections. The food was decent, but not what we expect for the price. Duck confit in the tacos was dry. Elk was overly seasoned. Sadly we won't be back. This is a quaint and very interesting restaurant. It is located in an old, perhaps haunted, house that is over a hundred years old. They did not tear out all the walls to make one mega-room, which we really liked. They have a number of small rooms, formerly bedrooms, with maybe 4 tables in each, and that made for a much quieter dining experience. They certainly serve on the main floor, but we ended up on the second floor. It has a narrow staircase to get up there, no elevator/no dumbwaiter, and our server did a fantastic job taking care of us despite his going up and down the narrow stairs, too! We asked about the rumored ghosts and our server got the restaurant owner, who entertained our small room of tables with what he's experienced. If you are lucky enough to catch him, it's a very interesting tale. We started off with the blue cheese-stuffed dates wrapped in bacon, and they were fantastic. We also got crab cakes, more my husband's taste, and he said they were some of the best he's ever had. I ordered a delicious salmon salad that was a very generous portion. It came with cranberries, avocado, bananas, mandarin oranges and a delicious dressing on the side. I felt like it was very healthy and exploding with flavor. Husband got a turkey and brie sandwich. He thought it was good but not great, could have had more brie in it. Fries were excellent, and they weren't stingy with the catsup! Husband tried a "New Fashion" drink, a take on an Old Fashion. He wasn't impressed with the bourbon used or the size of the drink. Friend got an open-faced turkey sandwich, which was almost like a Thanksgiving dinner on a piece of bread! His wife got a caesar-salad with chicken wrap or sandwich. Her first impression was that it did not look like what she was expecting, but after one bite, she was very happy with her selection. Both friends gave high praise for their entrees. Our two friends had eaten here the week before, and were so impressed with it that they wanted to come back with us 5 days later! read more

For a town the size of Monument, this place has a lot to brag about. It's not 5-star Michelin rating good, but it's dang good just the same. I had the elk filet the first time and it was excellent. The second time we went (Valentine's Day) I had the pork chop and it too was excellent. Great service, cool if slightly quirky atmosphere (both times we were led upstairs in what appears to be an old turn of the last century residence with low ceilings and period decor). We love it, and it's our official "special celebration" restaurant in this area! Kudos! read more

The food was very bad and the service was worse. My steak was ordered medium well and the picture below shows what I was served. Upon telling the server they removed half the price of my meal, when I clearly ate next to nothing. I didn't touch the dry baked potato and I ate two asparagus stalks and two bites of my undercooked steak. We will not be back. I would strongly recommend any other place. read more

This place is so cute and the menu is fantastic. Having lunch on the adorable patio and a glass of wine. We are driving from Denver south and I asked my husband to find a place to eat - he told me he was mapping us to Village Inn and we pulled off and I was not having it. He laughed and said he was kidding and just down the rode is the beautiful Bistro and great patio with great food and wine! He had me thinking we were going to eat at a chain. Blech! This is far from that. The service is fast and friendly and I am very happy with Hubbys find to get us off the road for a bit and fuel us up. Parking is on the street - but it is a cute little town. We are going to stop in Monument from now on instead of the Springs when we drive South - because there is zero wait here on the weekend at 11 am and we can't ever get in for breakfast at a patio cafe there. read more

We met friends here last Friday. Kevin was our server and he was awesome. The Brussel sprouts were very good. My friend and I had the fish that was on special. It was very light and delicious. My husband had filet and our other friend had the Elk. Everyone loved their food. The location is very easy to get to from I-25 and the restaurant looks like an old converted house. My wife and I are here for an anniversary dinner while visiting Colorado Springs. The atmosphere was warm and intimate. The service was friendly, engaging and attentive. Now for the food! I ordered the chicken piccata was absolutely delicious and flavorful. My wife order the lobster ravioli which was also very good made for those with a preference of al dente. The menu had good variety on food and drinks. I strongly urge you to try the wine made from lemons, it is surprisingly delightful and refreshing. read more

Nifty little place--it is in an old house and supposedly has ghosts, if you believe in that sort of thing, I don't. I felt sorry for the servers, they don't have a dumbwaiter and we were on the second floor. And typical of old houses, the stairs were steep and narrow. The ambiance was great. The drink was slightly disappointing, I had a "New Fashioned" and the bourbon just did not make it through. It was a small drink also. "The food was lousy, practically inedible, and the portion was too small as well." Not the case here. the turkey and brie sandwich with cranberries was a full portion and the cranberries gave it a tangy taste. I didn't sense much brie flavor or texture. The little quibbles I had with the brie and the New Fashioned were overwhelmed by everything else, especially the attention to great service without being a nuisance, so I still rate the Bistro five stars. read more

This is a local, boutique restaurant. A converted house - cozy, quiet, and even a bit romantic. A local favorite and many consider a hidden gem. Unlike chain restaurants, the menu changes often with chef offering new and different dishes. We stopped in and the server told us it was a whole new menu as of that day, and they hadn't yet tried the dishes. Entree's: We ordered the Spaghetti and Meatballs as one, and Chicken Alfredo as the other. We also started with a wedge salad and a cup of lobster bisque. The lobster bisque was delicious, and almost a touch too rich. A cup was plenty, and it was thick and full with bits and chunks of lobster. 5/5 Wedge Salad. Lots of bacon and creamy blue-cheese dressing with chunks of blue cheese (hard to screw this one up). 4/5 Chicken Alfredo: Chicken tender, and seasoned very well. Not salty but you could certainly taste the seasoning. It was not over-cooked (which is common in the chain places). The Alfredo sauce rich and creamy - 5/5 Spaghetti and Meatballs: Torn here folks. When I see the word "Meatballs", that's exactly what I expect. Golfball sized or even bigger, i expect some big hunks of seasoned and cooked meat I can sink my teeth into. In the case, it was mis-named. It's spaghetti in a rich, beefy Bolognese sauce. Don't get me wrong, still rich and delicious, and an ample serving. But I was disappointed there was no solid ball of beef to satisfy my carnivorous desires. I brought it to the attention of the server, who seemed to have my same expectation - I was brought out an additional cup of the beefy sauce, but it wasn't what I had wanted. Soooo. The dish was delicious, but it was a letdown because of the misleading name. 3/5 Both main courses were to come with garlic bread but were served with toasted Italian bread instead. Dessert: Chocolate Mouse Cake. Simply yum. 5/5 Service: Quick, attentive, friendly. 5/5 Overall it's a four star. I'll try it again, and I think you should too. read more
