Hi Everyone! I wasn't sure what to expect when I found The Black Rooster Bakery on Yelp. It had great reviews, but so do so many other bakeries. Well, let me tell you this place is amazing! It is a quaint little bakery, down a breezeway in a strip mall. The baked goods are tip top and the service is even better! I had the monkey bread and a simple croissant. I've never had monkey bread before and it was out of this world. The croissant was light as a feather and spectacular! This is a fabulous bakery! Customer service is awesome and the baked goods are "over the top" delicious. To find them, you will see an entryway between the shoe store and a restaurant that reads "The Lunchbox" (their alter ego lunch section of the bakery). Walk all the way down that pathway and you will see "The Black Rooster Cafe" sign. I was a kid in a candy store and got a good sampling of treats. Today I got a pecan coconut cookie, 2 handpies, a sausage roll, a salted caramel bar, 2 biscuits, and monkey bread. In the past, I've also gotten loaves of their sourdough bread. You can not go wrong with what you get. It's all so delicious! They also serve coffee and there is outdoor seating. Autumn weather has finally arrived, so I'll have to head back and sit on the patio and enjoy more pastries and a coffee, or a lunch sammie if I arrive during lunch hours. My man brought home a box of treats, and in it were a raspberry cream croissant and an apple galette for me, and honestly, I can't remember what he had for himself (ok, it was a plain croissant and an apple galette for himself), because..let me just say..*clears throat* THESE ARE SO FREAKING DELICIOUS!! And somehow, they aren't heavy, at all. Talk about dangerous, because I ate the whole apple galette in one sitting, and while I shouldn't have even done that, I could eat another. I had the raspberry cream croissant for the next day's breakfast -- absolutely perfect with coffee. He said the place is clean and cozy (not really much room for onsite eating), and everyone there is so so nice!! Hidden gem. After realizing there was an inner courtyard that lead to the entrance, a nice bakeshop was found. A large selection of baked goods prepared onsite made selecting a breakfast treat difficult. The coffee cake was moist and just the right amount of sweetness. The bacon and cheese puffed French croissant was tasty. There was a selection of other breakfast items on new menu. Friendly patient staff. This bakery is a hidden gem in the Fort Worth area. I placed a pickup order online and was excited to try many items on their menu. They have very limited open hours, so I wanted to make sure the items I wanted were still available on that Saturday morning. I had a little trouble finding this place when I went to pick it up, but it was tucked away in a shopping center. I think I'm in love. I walked in wasn't really busy I was looking for a chocolate croissant for my coworker and I came upon this bakery. I walked in I was immediately greeted and offered a sample of a prosciutto and asparagus croissant which was great btw. I ordered a chocolate croissant, jalapeño bacon biscuit and an almond croissant. I will definitely be back for the biscuit it melted in my mouth best biscuit I had in so long and you can tell it was made in house I absolutely loved the biscuit. I have been wanting to try this place directly since one of my favs (Ascension) carries their pastries. I came at the end of the day (their physical storefront is only open once a week for a 4 hour window) and there wasn't a ton to choose from. A new Black Rooster location opened up along Camp Bowie and I knew I just had to try it. It was a bit challenging at first, but after a couple laps around the building, I found their store front in the little pocket next to the Lunch Box. It faces the little outdoor patio area which seemed like a great place to enjoy their pastries if the weather is nice. I ordered a maple walnut scone, a peanut butter jelly croissant, and a berry almond croissant. I've never had peanut butter with a croissant before, so the PB&J croissant was a new and pleasant surprise. Let's just say I'll never be content with a plain old PB&J sandwich for lunch ever again. I'm a huge fan of maple and brown sugar pastries, and their maple scone did not disappoint. But my favorite pasty of the bunch was the berry and almond croissant. With a generous layer of fruity jam, plenty of almond slices, and a sweet flaky crust, this alone makes me want to come back for another visit! read more

As a first time customer it was quiet disappointing. Seeing how everyone else was catered to and had their pastries warmed up served on plates, meanwhile ours were just placed in a box and handed over to us. I had to go back in ask for a plate, I had to figure out how to use their commercial warmer to warm up our food myself...chocolate and Almond croissant were good, the ham/swiss, and the hand pie were not very good. read more

The black rooster has the best pastries.. hands down. After finding the bakery at our local farmers market we started going to their brick and mortar location on Camp Bowie every Saturday morning. It has become such a fun ritual. It appears to be family owned and run. The ladies that run the counter always have a bright and welcoming smile. We look forward to seeing them every weekend. ***Important note: both locations are currently open only on Saturdays from 8am-12noon*** I was just there this past weekend to pick up my pre-ordered chocolate croissants. OMG. These were the best croissants I've ever had... beautiful crust, tender interior, and creamy, high-quality chocolate inside. It's important to go early and get these when they are ultra fresh. The people there are very friendly as well. Also note this location is a bit tricky to find. There is no sign you can see from the street. Look for the "Lunch Box" sign and walk down the exterior corridor to the courtyard from there. read more

Very cute and tasty cafe that is also connected to the lunch box restaurant, I have yet to try their food but it looks good and is always packed when I walk by. The good: about this place everything looks and probably is fresh made and delicious, their latte is pretty cheap at $2.50 for like a 16oz if I remember correctly, and their biscuits with jam are the bomb! The bad: it can be hella expensive, like $4-$5 per pastry, which I understand they are fresh made and good so it is worth it it just adds up quick. read more

I ordered the TCU Turkey. The lady who brought it to me even called it that but it was the Texas Turkey that I was served. The bread edges were very dry. The sandwich was good but not what I ordered. I do not think I would order the Texas Turkey as the flavors were bland and sandwich dry. I might go back to try what I actually ordered, the TCU Turkey. I also ordered the coconut pecan cookie and the berry gallete. I have tried a couple bites of the gallete. It is good. I ate the entire coconut pecan cookie and it is AMAZING. I bought one for my mom also but it may not make it to her this evening. Lol. Staff was friendly. We loved the Lunchbox! Very delicious. Affordable and better than most breakfast places in town. Their strength is definitely in the food. However, the service wasn't great. I never got my water and they added .75 cents to my latte for a flavor I didn't order nor receive. The staff that served us were not friendly. It was like we inconvenienced them to serve us. But, I'm sure it's not like that all the time because the place was full. Hoping they'll be friendlier when we visit in the future. read more

This place is a little difficult to spot, hidden inside the shopping plaza off Camp Bowie, I'd say easiest way to find it is, look for Olivella's and when you do, look to the left of the entrance and you will find a random alley to walk down and when you do, that's where you will find The Black Rooster Cafe and The Lunch Box. Plenty of parking around the plaza. When you get here, the dining area is not huge, but you just order at the counter. The only cashier was busy making coffee for another party and after looking around, I found a stash of menus right in front of the cashier's area. The menu doesn't give too much detail as ordering, the lady gave me some options that weren't listed in the menu and she didn't quite know all the options and had to read them off the screen to me. I got myself an iced vanilla latte and it was pretty tasty! I'd say that was solid, however I ordered the corn beef hash, but I guess she misheard me and brought me out a corn beef sandwich instead. I didn't complain and just went with it. The sandwich was good for a no frills kinda sandwich. The edges of the sourdough was a bit tough but other than that had good flavors. I wouldn't order that again but curious to try the other options the had to offer. Snagged a pastry box for an early meeting. Box was ready at 8:15 as promised. Friendly service and a great vanilla latte to go.
