My body does not tolerate gluten very well, which is a shame, because I love breads, cakes, cookies, etc. I don't have Celiac, but I am gluten sensitive. This spot is perfect for me. I usually get the keto bread. It tastes like regular bread, but the texture is a little softer, moisturer, and more crumbly than whole wheat bread. The texture is not odd at all, just different. My hubby even likes this bread. It makes great sammies and perfect toast. When I walked into the store, there were lots of treat samples at the front counter. The nice young lady working that afternoon didn't even bat an eye as I taste tested almost all of those samples. LOL! I ended up also getting a slice of the "COW" (cake of the week). That week, the COW was candy bar cake. It was a wonderful well balanced treat. I find that I can't tell that their cakes, cookies, pies, and many other items are actually gluten free. They are simply delish! This bakery attracts even avid gluten eaters because you can tell a lot of care and quality ingredients go into their goods. That is the telltale mark of any good bakery. This place is in a small strip mall. There is adequate parking and I've never had to street park unless it's holiday season. I was so excited to go to the bakery. My favorite dessert flavors are chocolate chip, lemon or blueberry. I went in hoping for either a big beautiful chocolate chip cookie likely made with either almond flour or coconut flour or a yummy lemon bar. I was said to see mostly cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies that had about 4 visible chocolate chips per cookie. No thank you. I was pleasantly surprised to see the bakery also has a case filled with prepared foods as soon as you enter. The food refrigerator is just to the left of the entrance. I came here in the morning and the bakery was empty so I had plenty of space to look around. They have plenty of baked treats in the front display or in the refrigerator. The lady who served me was friendly and shared with me how the business came into existence. The prices for the cookies are $1.50 and the cookie is a decent size. I had the vegan sugar cookie that tastes like a graham cracker and a gingerbread cookie with the golden milk latte. The cookies were delicious, especially when warmed up.The golden milk latte can have sweetener added to it, so I chose hazelnut. The Tiramisu cake (NOT tiramisu, just a cake that kinda tastes a bit like coffee) was extremely underwhelming. I came here because of the good reviews and wanted to get something sweet for my vegan friend on her birthday. This cake is $55 before tax. At that price point, it MUST taste good! This does not. More importantly, it honestly does not taste like tiramisu. If it had been labeled "light coffee cake," I think I would have been more prepared and less disappointed in what we ate. Overall, this is my third time coming to Unrefined Bakery in the past 3 years, and I've never enjoyed their baked goods. I've avoided leaving a review because I thought "well, maybe I just got the wrong things." But now I can confidently say I've tried a lot of their items, and there is always an odd aftertaste and they never really get the taste of the food right. There are other places with vegan options that are both cheaper AND much tastier. It's just really disappointing because this is a bakery: you think they'd focus on ONE thing and do it really well. I would not recommend this place to vegans or people looking for dairy free products. There are definitely better options out there such as Planted Bakery (vegan), or even Spiral Diner's bakery that I'd recommend over Unrefined Bakery in a heartbeat. The inside of this shop is pretty basic , not a lot of decor. That may make or break the experience for some . I would be ok with that if the cupcake won me over . They only had vanilla and chocolate left , so I opted for the vanilla . It was not what I expected . I had my mouth ready and it tasted very much like cupcake bread . I came in to check out the keto treats and it was an average experience. On the plus side, the displays are maintained, but products are little bit difficult to tell what's keto from other types of products. I also like the fact that Frozen items had ingredient labels, if not the standard nutrition facts to understand net carbs, calories Etc. It's inexplicable why prices are only "upon request" ... designing a customer-friendly menu should be a high priority for a place like this ... as should be having your staff provide enthusiastic customer service. It's hard to be impressed with a business when the staff looks bored and one is lounging on top of the counters when customers walk in. I had to ask about every single item; it turned out that a small cookie is $5. Why? One core Improvement would be to clearly label every single baked item with ingredient information, whether it contains nuts or simply coconut flour ... why not even carb count, fiber or net carbs? Unrefined provides a tonedeaf ketogenic shopping experience and an expensive one at that. I enjoyed my $5 cookie, but not enough to return for another. Frozen treats are simply not appetizing looking, for example, what is called chocolate cake is a small, under-filled cupcake without icing ... I can bake dark-colored tiny cupcakes. Why would I pay a premium for a treat from a bakery that doesn't value making their goods look appetizing? Or one that doesn't share enough detail for me to know what I'm choosing either fits my macros or won't deliver an insulin Spike? read more

Gluten free and corn free? It was so delicious! I was beyond surprise at the moistness of the Chocolate cupcake and the icing was perfect not too sweet. Their sprinkles cookies are to die for. My friend can't have any corn so she has to avoid things that have cornstarch and baking powder. This place was so responsive when I asked. Great company!! Awesome customer service.
