    Breakfast sandwich watermelon salad
    Andrew M.

This was our first stop when we arrived to Asheville. All the food looked tremendous but we decided to stay with a simple breakfast sandwich. My girlfriend got the watermelon feta salad and loved how fresh it was. I chose the potatoes and they were very good. Super crispy but soft on the inside. The croissant was buttery and warm. Overall a great breakfast sandwich.

**January 2026: Thursday Late Morning Visit** My friend and I were lucky to have found free parking on New Years Day, but a lot of restaurants were closed. I noticed that Blackbird Restaurant was open and was enticed by the "chef owned" and "farm to table" signs so we decided to check it out. We were a party of two and were able to get seated right away even though it was pretty busy. We were there around 11am so the menu was specific to brunch offerings. After pondering the different options we decided to split two dishes - the Creole Shrimp & Grits and the Corned Beef Hash. Our waitress Campbell was wonderful and delivered both dishes with a smile. ENTREES -Creole Shrimp & Grits ($19) The shrimp was grilled nicely. To me the gravy and grits were very muted. So for me I'd probably skip it next time. -Corned Beef Hash ($19): Between the two dishes I preferred this one. The caramelized onions and maple glaze gave the hash a sweetness to the crunchy potatoes. The eggs were cooked perfectly sunnyside up! The ambiance leans trendy, hipster brunch vibes. Overall, I enjoyed my meal here!

Went to the Blackbird for brunch. Started with a coffee that wasn't bad and for my main, I decided on the Corned Beef Hash. It arrived looking amazing. The portion size was very good. The corned beef was well seasoned and the potatoes, peppers and onions were well cooked. The only drawback was the glaze. It took over the meal at various points so next time I will do the glaze on the side. The service was very good. No complaints there. Good experience overall.

Corn Beef Hash with Medium Eggs (it will change your taste for Corn Beef)

A Must-Try Gem in Asheville - Black Bird Restaurant Food: I didn't expect to be ruined for life by corned beef hash, but here we are. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash with eggs cooked medium, and it was absolutely exceptional. You can tell they make the corned beef in-house -- perfectly seasoned, tender, and paired with a hint of mustard that adds just the right amount of heat. The potatoes were cooked to perfection: crispy on the outside, soft and buttery inside. Honestly, I'm not sure I can enjoy corned beef hash anywhere else after this. We also ordered the beignets and the goat cheese omelet, both incredibly fresh and made with ingredients that were clearly at their peak. Every bite tasted intentional -- ripe, balanced, and delicious. Service: Our server, Jacob, made the experience even better. He was genuinely warm, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever hovering. The hostess who greeted us set the tone from the moment we walked in -- friendly, welcoming, and professional. We had originally planned to eat across the street at Chestnut, but the atmosphere there felt cold and uninviting. I'm so glad we followed our instincts and came to Black Bird instead -- it was the total opposite: warm energy, great service, and food that honestly overdelivers. Ambiance: The ambiance was lovely -- music at the perfect volume, comfortable seating, and an overall vibe that makes you want to linger. Price: Prices were super fair for the quality and portion sizes. If you're in Asheville, don't miss this place. Great food, great people, great energy -- it's the kind of spot that turns a meal into a memory.

We had come into town for a get together and didn't know a place to eat. They had great meat free options like veggie Wellington it was delish. The pork chop Yummy, everyone was happy. The Farm to table mission was decorated around and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Our drinks were wonderful and our server Jill hooked us up with advice about the menu and happenings in town. We had a very satisfying dinning experience.

    Goat Cheese Corn Pie

This place is a MUST experience. The Goat Cheese Corn Pie is an original and out of this world! Probably top 3 meals I've ever had. My wife and I also had the Wellington with is also so unique and wonderful!!!

Service and ambiance was successful. I got the goat cheese omelet (three eggs with garlic herb goat cheese, roasted tomatoes, local greens, and caramelized onions) with Sunday potatoes, sausage, and GF toast. The strawberry jam I put on the toast gave it great flavor, but it was more soft than toasted. The potatoes were beautifully seasoned and slightly crispy. The sausage was moist and flavorful beyond belief. The flavors of the omelet were harmonic, but the eggs were a little too buttery. Overall, this was the classic brunch I was looking for.

We have walked by this restaurant several times and have always seen it busy, so we decided to check it out when my parents were in town. My dad likes a steak, and I'm a vegetarian. This restaurant was perfect for us both! I was very impressed with the vegetarian section on the menu. I ordered the beet and zucchini stack as an appetizer and the goat cheese corn pie as an entree. The beet and zucchini stack was a fresh take on a typical beet salad, especially as a stack. I liked that it had the crunch from the nuts and some cheese on top. I loved the goat cheese corn pie, though. It was warm and very filling! It was very creative with the mushrooms and kale to dress up the pie, which felt more like a shepherd's pie-type of pie than the quiche-style pie I was expecting. What a great dish! The service was friendly and patient. I am happy the waiter recommended my entree dish from the veggie selection. I also really liked the decor, especially the outlines of birds on the walls. I would definitely come back here again!

The seafood eggs Benedict was amazing. I love that it's on a biscuit and the biscuits are to die for! Highly recommend this spot!

We had plans to go to another restaurant up the street for brunch; however, found parking right outside of Blackbird. Curiously, my husband looked up their menu just to check it out and it took about two seconds of looking to sell us on changing our brunch plans! And I'm so glad we did! This is certainly an elevated brunch spot, so, although there were plenty of people dressed "down," we still felt a little under dressed. Our server was wonderful (I wish I would have gotten his name). I love that they serve French press coffee, I am a sucker for some good tasting strong coffee! We ordered the shrimp and grits and turkey sandwich. About 40 minutes went by without food and me noticing others who came in after us getting served before us. We are pretty patient people so we just rode it out. Our server came over with a plate of steak and eggs and apologized that there was a mix up in the kitchen and wanted to offer us a free snack while we waited. The steak was great and we appreciated the gesture! My sandwich was phenomenal. It had turkey, warm Brie, and a cranberry mayo. My husband's shrimp snd grits stole the show, though! The sauce was the best tasting creole sauce I've ever had! We will certainly be back and highly recommend!

    Wagyu hash
    Victoria S.

Had a fantastic wagyu hash breakfast bowl here. PERFECT for a morning after meal. If you prefer something on the lighter side, then the fattiness of the wagyu may not be for you. For us, it was hearty and delicious! The potatoes soaked up all of the fat and added to the heartiness of the bowl.

The service was super nice and helpful. The restaurant is a cool mix of old bar and modern diner. The food was average. The grits which I came for had a good flavor and consistency, yet it contained corn kernels. The eggs were scrambled to a good texture. The biscuit was super hard on the bottom. The weirdest thing was the condiments were not brought to the table .. I had to ask for butter, salt, sugar, and pepper. I will be back because I think this place has potential. We'll try again.

    Eggs Benedict
    Ricky R.

You should come here if you like dehydrated leftovers. My eggs Benedict was awful. I came here visiting from Florida and saw that this restaurant was highly rated for breakfast. But, it did not measure up to expectations. I got the eggs Benedict trio. One with pork, one with a crab cake, and the last one vegetarian (Greek). The pork was like a rock on the edges, which is absolutely from being recooked. The crab cake was just awful. It seemed the same like something that had been cooked more than once. Crab cakes im used to are soft and moist in the middle. This one was dry and hard throughout. The greek style vegetarian one was by far the best one, which is the one I didn't even want. The corned beef hash was dry. The mustard served with it was VERY strong. It was okay, but the dish was mostly potato, which they try to hide by slapping an egg on top. This experience was wildly disappointing. Our server was very good and attentive. The staff were all very helpful and kind. The ambiance was okay.
