I'm late posting, but placed an online order from That's My Rez Sandwich Shop a few weeks ago. We ordered the pueblo deli sandwich and the mesa turkey club. Both were phenominal sandwiches! The pueblo deli had black forest ham, smoked turkey, and bologna with green chile, lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese and we added a green chile mayo and the mesa turkey comes with smoked turkey, bacon, swiss, lettuce, tomato, cucumber we added green chile mayo and pickle spear included with both sammies. They both were thick, hearty ans so flavorful! We ordered them as a combo that comes with and ice cold beverage and bag of chips. Is it worth the drive, and price, hell yeah! We are looking forward to going back!

Got our food ordered @ Birria Estilo Zacatecas, and headed to the Boba Lounge while we waited. 2 out of the 3 of us had never had Boba so she explained and "oh my"!!! Food came and...heavenwe'll be back!!

***Review for "XO Waffles and Crepes" *** NEW BUSINESS*** I was hungry but really couldn't decide on what to eat. A condition that affects millions of adults nationwide. This is an "adulting" challenge no one warns you about in grade school. Anyways, I narrowed it down to comfort food. Then waffles popped up on my phone. Gotta love AI and its creepy, stalker ways. I went to the Block in Rio Rancho. It's a little food hall located at the Enchanted Hills Shopping Center behind Petsmart, but don't get concerned. No animals were harmed in my quest for waffles. I hadn't really been over there before, and this is when I discovered XO Waffles and Crepes! The food was amazing and settled my adulthood dilemma of what to eat. I got a sweet waffles because I earned it, but they have savory options too. Johnny is the operations manager and had a cool NY accent. He was great and friendly. Matt made my order with speed and precision. I was thinking to myself, "Self, you made a good choice for once!" It looked just like the picture (which is more than I can say for any dating app interactions.) The waffle was delicious and visually beautiful. Who knew waffles could be such a treat. So go take your "adulting challenged" self to XO Waffles and Crepes and make good choices! Highly recommend!

This is a nice little space up in Rio Rancho. Some friends and I decided to check it out just for fun. It's a bit of a haul from the foothills so I don't see myself going super often, though it looks like it has a great set of events and things that happen fairly frequently. If you haven't been, go check it out. There are a good number and variety of food options and little shops. There's still some empty spaces there, so it will be interesting to see what it's like once it fills out.

We discovered THE BLOCK while visiting our son in Rio Rancho on a Friday night. My wife and I chose El Chamo Arabe Express, as both of us have visited Venezuela. We had empanadas and sweet plantains. For our taste the empanadas were ok, the dough was too thicker and oily. On our next visit, I would enjoy some cocktails on the Top of THE BLOCK cocktail bar. The venue concept is great and had fun enjoying the live music and view of the Sandia Mountains.

Top of the Block bar is really nice and has a great view. Restaurants are average. Might check it out again for a band but otherwise not much happening.

I absolutely love The Block and highly recommend it. There's so much to do in summer. This winter, they have trivia night and other activities up in the bar area where it's nice and warm. My favorite pizza of all time is Thicc - wow!!! Absolutely delicious. I will continue to frequent and support the restaurants and of course the upper bar!!

This place is new to Rio Rancho. It's no Tin Can Alley but I think it has more of a family friendly atmosphere. I have yet to try the crepes. Pizza or tacos but I'm sure I will. It's always clean, heaters throughout, tables and a stage. Hope it makes it!

Saturday. November 2, 2024. Dinner. Went here for a dinner date with my wife. Unfortunately, a lot of the shop spaces were still vacant. See attached map photo. They opened September 13, so I expected more or all of the shop spaces to be occupied. From November's calendar of events: Sunday 10 AM yoga, 12-3 pm games activities for kids 12 and under, and a live band at 5 pm. Mondays nothing special. Tuesdays 10 am yoga, comedy at 8 pm. Wednesdays 7 pm movie. Thursdays 7 pm trivia. Fridays 10 am yoga, live band at 6 pm. Saturdays 10 AM yoga, 12-3 pm games activities for kids 12 and under, and a live band at 7 pm. Since we visited on Saturday we watched a cover band called Static Groove band. They played some old school r and b classics. This band has very good technical musicians and a very energetic front man. We watched the band from the Top of the Block bar, which has a beautiful view of the Sandia mountains. This bar was a huge let down because of the extremely limited selection. Canned beers, $6, were: Sandia watermelon cider, Steelbender compa, Santa Fe Octoberfest, and Bosque Scotia. Draft beers, $7, were: Santa Fe 7K and Bosque's Elephants on Parade (they were out of this one so only 1 tap beer). They had 5 wines from Sheehan winery. These were $8 a glass for Pinot Gris, CAB, Cielo Dulce, Syrah and a Rose. They had 7 mocktails, which you could add alcohol to. These included Blueberry Mojito ($7), Creamcicle ($7), Rosemary Paloma fizz ($6), Sunrise ($6) and a Mule ($6). With the outstanding local breweries, they need more beers and beer styles on tap and canned. I had two different bartenders since we ordered 2 beers each. The male bartender just handed me the can, but the female gave use frosted mugs to pour the beer into. We ordered burgers from the Stackers Burger company. This stall was located below the bar. They had a selection of six burgers and a chicken sandwich. These ranged in price from $10.25 to 12.25. They had fries and tots ranging in price from $5.25 to $14.99. They had shakes for $7.99 and floats for $6.25. I ordered the Oklahoma Fried Onion smash burger for $123.25. This burger was juicy and large. Very filling with the order of green chile queso fries we shared. These had spicy green chile and lots of cheese for $11.50. We both enjoyed the food. I think that if the Block can attract more businesses to fill the empty shop stalls and can greatly increase the number of drinks at the bar and make the service uniform, they could attract more customers. Hopefully they make these changes soon.

It's got something like a dozen different food outlets to please everyone. There are a couple of bar setups, too, that looked like fun. (We took these to go and went up the sandia tram and ate at picnic tables overlooking the city) Everything we ate was really good, and reasonably priced. And there are very many vegetarian options, and at least a few vegan ones, too. People say parking can be a hassle, but we didn't experience that. First off, we ordered the vegetable egg rolls for an appetizer, I do not recommend them since they are frozen ones. They were tasteless while the interior of these rolls were mushy, though the duck sauce was quite tasty it could not overcome these appetizers. Our entrees came next, my husband asked about the serving size and he was told a plate only fed one person, not true. The plate serves two. Anyway, the Kung Pao Chicken has really good flavor, was spicy and served with a side of steamed white rice. My husband's entree was Orange Chicken and nothing spectacular about it. But what will keep us from ever going back was that as we sat in the restaurant eating I started to smell cigarette smoke. It became more pronounced and I realized they were smoking in the kitchen and had the door open to where we were sitting. With that revelation my husband quickly got us out of there...the cigarette smoking inside the kitchen is a total dealbreaker.

Her food is superb and it is great she has a full time location for us to savor it. We went on New Year's Eve, and she had a special fried rice with huge shrimp and crab meat that was to die for. Yeah, $40 for one plate but it was huge and super delicious. We also had her Turmeric noodles with chicken, also outstanding. While very busy, Chef Nath came by our table to make sure we were happy; such a lovely person. Thai food in Santa Fe is hit or miss, usually miss. Not with Chef Nath; she is fantastic, and we look forward to coming back. Maybe we can sample her amazing soup at the next "Souper Bowl." Now, in terms of the rest of Chomp, it has almost as many 'misses' as hits. I tried a slice of pizza a co-diner offered me, which was very good. But the wait time for a pizza was 40 minutes! This illustrates with Chomp, and you'll hear this from many other reviewers: it takes far, far too long to get your food than you might expect. If you are OK at the bar (we are not drinkers, so no), you may not mind waiting a long time to eat. But expect this to be the case. Early (5PM), not many people, but we were still told a pizza would take 40 minutes. Chef Nath's food took about that long, but it was worth the wait. The issue is, unlike a restaurant where the timing of ordering is under control, at Chomp, someone may have placed an order for a lot of pizza or Thai, and you're going to wait, wait, and wait. The BBQ place was dead; I don't think I saw one person order from that station. The reviews I read may be the clue, but I would expect they would be able to serve food quickly IF it is good; I don't know, didn't try, and never will. I doubt we will go back to Chomp, other than take out of Chef Nath's food again. It's a nice venue, but you can call it a food hall and food court (which you can find at the Mall); I'm not that impressed with the concept. I am an old fart, so maybe for the younger crowd, this is 'cool'. However, the fact that Chef Nath offers her outstanding food is a reason to go there.

Seems this Sensational eatery used to be a bus but lost it's wheels and is now permanently parked in the #2 spot just off Central Ave on the sunny El Vado open air patio/plaza. Bein' a fool for a Cubano sandwich, I succumbed to the moral obligation to order these friendly folks' Spicy Cubano version with parmesan & truffle chips on the side. When I got home & opened the to-go box I was duly impressed at the generous size of the sandwich. The handful of homemade lookin' chips was adequate at filling its corner of the container. From the first bite, the spicy aspect was not inside the sandwich. While well flavored, the Scoville scale on that sammie was on the low end of heat, particularly for the Burqueño crowd. However, the large'ish pepperoncini spiked to the top of the sandwich was the nuclear blast bringin' a little scorched earth policy to the party. We're talking nasal clearing, eye watering, tongue shrivelling, throat chokin' thermal overload. It was so good!! The flat bread on the sammie was chewy & sturdy enough to corral the layers of beef, ham, cheese, and pickles without degradation or deteriorating. The red chile mayo was super sparse, to the point of almost non-existent, and left me wanting for more to jack up the heat a bit. The beef was okay to good, being subtly spiced which let the umami taste shine through. Ham was of the water added variety so offered decent texture & moistness to the filling. But the smoke note in the mix was a soft one, not intense with the acrid attack often found in dry cure hams. Pickles were okay to good. Cheese was likewise okay to good, though not as spicy as I would hope for from a pepper jack cheese. The parmesan & truffle fries were of the sturdy sort. The good news being that they were surprisingly non-greasy in spite of being mottled in a pinto pony pattern of oil saturated patches across their surfaces. My fingers remained delightfully free of napkin dabbing while devouring the chips. The bad news being that they tasted like pretty much standard home made potato chips found everywhere. I didn't pick up the parmesan funkiness or pungency on them at all. So the chips were sort of a 3 star affair & just okay being crunchy, fried, salty enough without overdoing it, and not greasy. With the Cubano & chips being about a 3.5 star situation, it's the friendly cashier lady & cook who make Street Food Sensations a solid 4 star affair. I found them to be friendly and welcoming and fun. So kudos to the staff for being a bright addition to the sunny atmosphere of the El Vado eating scene.
