Used to come here all the time, but after this last experience, I'm done. What should've been a simple drink order turned into a rude, hostile interaction with a bartender for no reason, followed by us being refused service and kicked out--after fully cooperating and not causing any issues. Even worse, management couldn't be bothered to come address it in the moment and instead doubled down afterward without hearing both sides. This also wasn't the first issue with that bartender, which makes it pretty clear nothing is being managed the way it should be. At a certain point, it's not a staff problem--it's a leadership problem. Plenty of better places in Rio Rancho that actually know how to treat people. read more

Tried out the block a few weeks ago. Got a falafel wrap/sandwich it was delicious great flavors and generous serving of fries! Love all the options from burgers, pizza to boba! They have lots of options for anyone in your group lots of veggie options too! Love the space lots of seating indoor and out! So festive right now too decorated for the holidays! The Block has the opportunity to be an amazing local hub for Enchanted Hills but I worry that it won't be successful long term without some changes.I really wish they would add an arcade for example-something you can do with or without kids even when there aren't events going on there. The food places seem to come and go so try to not get too attached to one restaurant. I think the issue there though is pricing. I know it's pricey everywhere now but they need some things more affordable for families since Rio is such a family based community. Even the ice cream place charges $6 for the tiniest scoop of ice cream. The pros though-I love the seating there, love the stage for music and events. Nice large fake grass area. They have bathrooms, it's super clean there, security, etc. It can be so awesome with a few additions and changes. read more

I'm late posting, but placed an online order from That's My Rez Sandwich Shop a few weeks ago. We ordered the pueblo deli sandwich and the mesa turkey club. Both were phenominal sandwiches! The pueblo deli had black forest ham, smoked turkey, and bologna with green chile, lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese and we added a green chile mayo and the mesa turkey comes with smoked turkey, bacon, swiss, lettuce, tomato, cucumber we added green chile mayo and pickle spear included with both sammies. They both were thick, hearty ans so flavorful! We ordered them as a combo that comes with and ice cold beverage and bag of chips. Is it worth the drive, and price, hell yeah! What a great addition to Rio Rancho. We have been here a couple of times and love how pretty their lounge is and how friendly their staff is. You have a gorgeous view of the Sandias while sipping on your cocktail and having the freedom to choose from the variety of food options the food hall downstairs offers. They have fun events like trivia night, movie night, karaoke and so much more. We're excited to be back for trivia night. They make a mean manhattan and old fashioned! read more

This is a nice little space up in Rio Rancho. Some friends and I decided to check it out just for fun. It's a bit of a haul from the foothills so I don't see myself going super often, though it looks like it has a great set of events and things that happen fairly frequently. If you haven't been, go check it out. There are a good number and variety of food options and little shops. There's still some empty spaces there, so it will be interesting to see what it's like once it fills out. read more

We discovered THE BLOCK while visiting our son in Rio Rancho on a Friday night. My wife and I chose El Chamo Arabe Express, as both of us have visited Venezuela. We had empanadas and sweet plantains. For our taste the empanadas were ok, the dough was too thicker and oily. On our next visit, I would enjoy some cocktails on the Top of THE BLOCK cocktail bar. The block is really close to my house. The rent charged businesses must be high, as many businesses have come and gone. The prices for many food items are through the roof and not affordable for most families. They do events there to draw in visitors, so I know they are trying. Most times the place is a ghost town. They still have not found the right balance to have people return often. read more

I visited The Block for the first time this weekend. It's a nice indoor/outdoor space. I was happy to see they have a good amount of indoor seating because who wants to sit outdoors when it's super cold or hot? I absolutely love The Block and highly recommend it. There's so much to do in summer. This winter, they have trivia night and other activities up in the bar area where it's nice and warm. My favorite pizza of all time is Thicc - wow!!! Absolutely delicious. I will continue to frequent and support the restaurants and of course the upper bar!! read more

Saturday. November 2, 2024. Dinner. Went here for a dinner date with my wife. Unfortunately, a lot of the shop spaces were still vacant. See attached map photo. They opened September 13, so I expected more or all of the shop spaces to be occupied. From November's calendar of events: Sunday 10 AM yoga, 12-3 pm games activities for kids 12 and under, and a live band at 5 pm. Mondays nothing special. Tuesdays 10 am yoga, comedy at 8 pm. Wednesdays 7 pm movie. Thursdays 7 pm trivia. Fridays 10 am yoga, live band at 6 pm. Saturdays 10 AM yoga, 12-3 pm games activities for kids 12 and under, and a live band at 7 pm. Since we visited on Saturday we watched a cover band called Static Groove band. They played some old school r and b classics. This band has very good technical musicians and a very energetic front man. We watched the band from the Top of the Block bar, which has a beautiful view of the Sandia mountains. This bar was a huge let down because of the extremely limited selection. Canned beers, $6, were: Sandia watermelon cider, Steelbender compa, Santa Fe Octoberfest, and Bosque Scotia. Draft beers, $7, were: Santa Fe 7K and Bosque's Elephants on Parade (they were out of this one so only 1 tap beer). They had 5 wines from Sheehan winery. These were $8 a glass for Pinot Gris, CAB, Cielo Dulce, Syrah and a Rose. They had 7 mocktails, which you could add alcohol to. These included Blueberry Mojito ($7), Creamcicle ($7), Rosemary Paloma fizz ($6), Sunrise ($6) and a Mule ($6). With the outstanding local breweries, they need more beers and beer styles on tap and canned. I had two different bartenders since we ordered 2 beers each. The male bartender just handed me the can, but the female gave use frosted mugs to pour the beer into. We ordered burgers from the Stackers Burger company. This stall was located below the bar. They had a selection of six burgers and a chicken sandwich. These ranged in price from $10.25 to 12.25. They had fries and tots ranging in price from $5.25 to $14.99. They had shakes for $7.99 and floats for $6.25. I ordered the Oklahoma Fried Onion smash burger for $123.25. This burger was juicy and large. Very filling with the order of green chile queso fries we shared. These had spicy green chile and lots of cheese for $11.50. We both enjoyed the food. I think that if the Block can attract more businesses to fill the empty shop stalls and can greatly increase the number of drinks at the bar and make the service uniform, they could attract more customers. Had a great time Friday night with love music and the fireplace tables. I ate at Lotus and Lemongrass. Had the Lotus Pho. Amazing! That dish is going into my regular rotation. Service was excellent and for the size of them meal the value for my money was perfect. read more

This was the third time I have been to The Block and a different experience every-time! Either way, great space, great vibe! It was a crowded Saturday night when we went, boba was a must! Consistant and delicious! Out of regular boba but still good!! The whole reason we went was for the burgers at Stackers but to our surprise it was closed!!! Two of the main restaurants were closed on a Saturday night! We ended up enjoying the weather and company, sipping boba before we headed out for dinner. Will definitely come back though!!! read more

This place has incredible potential. I'd like to go there when the weather is nicer. The outside area is beautiful. Because it was cold and in the evening we were upstairs in the mostly closed off bar area. For some reason they couldn't close one of the garage doors upstairs which meant depending on where you sat, it was cold inside. If they can't close that door, then they need to get some heaters. The bartenders worked hard and were really nice but they needed more help. There are various restaurants you can go to get food which was nice. This is a place where you get up and order and pick up everything including your drinks so if you want to be waited on, this is not your place. We attended brain game trivia which was tons of fun! This is just for the bar, Top of the Block. Bartenders have no supervisor on site. They basically do what they want even when many customers wanted air conditioning on a very hot day, they opened the doors/windows. This is not acceptable due to the very hot weather. I have been coming every week for over a year to play team trivia. I will not return and will not recommend this place to anyone else. Very disappointed. read more

Got the opportunity to check out The Block with a friend the other day. I was impressed with the scope of it. A lot of the shops are still unrented and a couple of the places aren't open yet but they have a schedule for yoga, live music, comedy, and movie nights. Lots of seating and friendly people. They even have a place for food trucks to park. The Boba place was excellent we got key lime pie shakes for dessert from them. Tart and refreshing just like key lime pie should be. I believe the two shakes ran us $14. We got chicken and waffles from Kukri chicken. My friend got his "Inferno" level hot and I got "mild". The guy explained mild as Cayenne pepper hot more flavor then heat and I would agree it paired perfectly with my fresh waffle, whipped butter, and syrup. My friend was happy with the deathly hot of his chicken. I think the two chicken/waffles and drinks were $25. I didn't feel like anything was exorbitantly priced and was happy with what we got for the money. I'm excited to see how this comes along. It's certainly nice to have a space like this in Enchanted Hills. read more

First time visit. There's potential. Needs more business. But unfortunately the tables were all in need of a good wipe down.

The Block has so much potential, but they're falling short. The new bar "Top of the Block" is a beautiful space with a fantastic view, but they're falling short have a terrible beer selection, no featured mixed drinks, and no real reason to hang out. On top of that, the prices aren't competitive with nearby places like Bosque and Turtle Mountain. As winter approaches, they're really going to have to give customers a reason to visit. Yoga and movies aren't going to do it. Good luck, Block. read more

The food is the best in Rio Rancho. Mediterranean food is cravable. Chicken sandwiches and burgers are huge.

I was in town visiting some friends and decided to check the place out based on the views. I went up to the top of the block and really liked the atmosphere. I kept it simple and got an old fashioned. I forget the girls name but she knocked it out of the park with the old fashioned and her service! Disappointing after so many delays. Way overpriced and too many vacancies. Why grand open with so many empty spaces?. Top of Block still not open? Who runs this place? Investment group needs to reconvene on their strategy - new operator/director and opening strategy. Guarantee they are gauging their tenants which explains vacancies and ridiculous pricing. First off, the food is overly priced which I assumed because the rent for that place is a lot. Secondly, The Top Of Block, on their hours outside of the doors states that they close at 1:30am. My trivia team were playing at The Top of the Block last night. We sat in the south alcove. The bartender named DAllas came over and opened the garage door full up because he said people were hot. We asked him to open it only a crack but he would not listen to us. It was about 30 degrees outside. We talked to the only other table in the alcove and they said they were not the ones who complained. We asked DALLAS very nicely if we could reach some sort of compromise but he wouldn't listen just talked over us. So, after 8 years of playing Brain Gang Trivia we got up and walked out half way through the game. read more

Top of the Block is amazing! On Friday's they do live music now. Overall great atmosphere and a bartender by the name of Dallas is a delight! He is always smiling and happy - it's refreshing. So I've tried 3 place here the kuri chicken, los taco and chamo arabe. The food was pretty good at all place but holy mole the wait time are I unreal. I mean like 30 minutes + for a sandwich and its like $20 and small! Taco spot was normal time* but unfortunately when you have new to food businesses this is what you get. Food is was overpriced, and every vendor is missing 1/2 menu selection. 3 pc chicken tender, a lemonade (cause their soft drinks weren't available), and fries before tip was $25.
