I was very excited to try this place on recommendation of many of my friends. Unfortunately that experience was soiled within minutes due to the worst customer service I have encountered ever. Let the record show that Jarrod in the bar is a 5 star man unfortunately working in a 1 star skid mark of the Moab dining scene. We were staying at the La Quinta inn directly across the parking lot and came in to escape the rain and sit in the bar. Unfortunately my horrible experience started before I even sat down. The hostess literally did not acknowledge me in any way shape or form aside from an awkward glance so I decided to seat myself in the bar (where I was greeted immediately) while I waited for the rest of my party. A few minutes later I asked the hostess if she had seen the group I was checking in with and I she only shook her head no as opposed to asking a few basic questions such as how many? Man or woman? Really anything but instead I was stonewalled. Out comes the manager DIEGO who told me to check the patio. There's two problems with this joke of a response. 1: there was a wall of water outside (I don't care that it was covered DIEGO, As a manager I hope you are not seating people outside during a thunderstorm.) 2. when you have less than 10 people in your restaurant and bar combined I expect you to know off the top of your head if someone is sitting on the patio. From here DIEGO begins to gossip with the hostess about me and another member of my party that joined me. We would have left right then and there if the weather had allowed but we ducked into the bar and wrote this passive aggressive review. DIEGO, Let me make this very clear for you. At the end of the day whether you like it or not you are in the industry of Hospitality. If you can't act hospitable (let alone friendly) you can certainly find another job where you can act like the subhuman you are. read more

We are here twice while here for a week. Service the second time was abysmal as it took over ten minutes of waiting at the front desk for someone to acknowledge us. Food was tasty (burnt ends, Turkey, Tri-tip, with sides of slaw, sweet potato, beans). Price point was good. read more

I did the pick two bbq. Got the pulled pork and 4 chicken wings. My husband got the prime rib. It could have been warmer.

Great BBQ menu and service. Really good brisket and the cob salad was a generous serving. Popular and crowded but worth the wait.

Carnivore's delight! all meat dishes excellent, save the most expensive Prime rib dish (pale and somewhat fatty). Pulled pork, chicken, brisquet, sausage all mouth watering for our slightly drunk, physically spent crew. Gumbo side was great, too. Fairly good waitress/hostess scenery, but we got the way older sweet and sassy one (like the bbq sauce per Jonna's self-assessment ). She was efficient, highly competent and gave just enough direction to our long table, to keep things flowing. Came to Moab with 8 other men in a book club to ride mtn bikes and discuss Legends of the Fall. Lots of calorie expenditures on various local rides. We are visiting Moab and happened upon Blu Pig for dinner tonight. Baby back ribs tender, succulent and flavorful. Philly cheesesteak sandwich was delicious. Meat sliced very thin and had nice smoky flavor. Sautéed peppers and onions added to already great sandwich. Our waiter Paul was attentive and friendly. Can't ask for much more than that. read more

I read the reviews before going. They were mixed. We ordered brisket and burnt tips. The tips were good, the brisket was over cooked and very dry. When I got home I read the reviews again and the owners comments. Issues at this restaurant are not new and worse yet not fixed. Lousy service, good food. Out of the beer I ordered, asked 3 times for spoons for beans, told cornbread was in oven and 10 minutes later when it arrives its warm not hot from oven. This is a very good steakhouse. At first we decided that it is a very noisy bar here and we didn't want to go here. But when our regular restaurant will have us waiting for 45 minutes, we decided to go here. It did not turn out noisy. In fact, they have two rooms. One is a noisy bar and the other is a quiet little room with some jazz music coming from the other room. The food was great, and I ordered a pork rib rack. It tasted great! My family all ordered steaks and it only cost us 120 dollars with tax and tip! And also they gave us a bowl of free fries (makeup for a baked beans that never turned up) to enjoy. This is a very good restaurant and I really recommend it if you are hungry! My tummy is so full from eating that pork rack. Great food! Really appreciate it! ;) read more

Stopped through on our way to Arizona. Turned out to be a great, quick lunch. Do yourself a favor and order sweet potato fries with the Ancho Mayo. Coleslaw - too much mayo. zucchini appetizer - too much batter. Couldn't even taste that there was a green bean in there. Pulled pork - I rarely eat meat so when I do, I expect to be reminded about how much I've been missing out. This place didn't do that. The BBQ sauces at the table were good. read more

Service was awful, food was Ok, and drinks took forever. If you enjoy your server acting bizarre, yelling at guests that request a side of dressing, and making you feel unwelcome than you will love your time at the Blue Pig. If service matters to you at all I suggest dining somewhere else. They do offer live music most nights of the week, which is what drew us in, however the one man band that was playing that evening was AWFUL. Not very good. Prices were way too high for the low quality food and service. Our server was really awkward and didn't check on us very often. She also brought us a pitcher of water and empty cups and told us to pour for ourselves... I wouldn't mind at a cheaper restaurant but the Blu Pig charges more than enough to warrant better service. I ordered the slider sampler for my meal, along with some sides. The pulled pork slider was pretty good, the brisket was ok, but the turkey slider was still cold (it was clearly refrigerated and they forgot to warm it up before putting it on the bun). When we asked the waitress about it she offered to bring it to the kitchen and reheat it for me. For the prices they charge, I would expect freshly cooked food, not leftovers pulled out of the refrigerator and microwaved!! read more

We had high hopes for this place,especially since we were starving. The service was poor and slow. The sandwich we ordered was soggy from them placing it on top of juice from one of the side dishes ordered. My chicken dish was tough and not very hot when I received it. Overall, the food wasnt very good. The restaurant was very cold and the server mentioned the heat was out again. Of all the local non-chain big box restaurants this one has been the most disappointing. We wont return or recommend. read more

My Dad, our friend, and myself walked into the bar and sat down. Fifteen minutes later and still no one had spoken to us yet. It seemed like a rather slow night so we found this unacceptable. I cannot speak to the quality of food. As for the service, it was nonexistent. I made an executive decision to leave and find another place to spend our money. Nice looking place but the BBQ pork was like what you get out of a can, meaning hardly worth the comment let alone the price. The smoked turkey was dry and tasteless, kinda "old". When I mentioned the inedible turkey they gave me a free piece of pecan pie which turned out to be burnt and grainy, again not really edible. Was just passing through Moab and needed a place to eat. The Blue Pig was a well suggested place that is open on Sundays. Stopped in and ordered the Big N' Nasty as an "appetizer" then ordered the Burnt End plate. The Big N' Nasty was big enough to fill up both me and my wife before we even had a chance to eat the main course. Had to pick at the burnt ends but it was delicious. The sides, fired okra and fries were very delicious. The only thing that made this place a four instead of a five, was for being a southern comfort bbq place the choices of bbq sauces were lacking. The traditional was just a shot of plain bbq sauce, the sweet and tangy was a little too sweet and the mustard vinegar was too vinegary. Overall this is a great place to swing by and enjoy some big plates of southern comfort bbq. Prices may seem high but for the amount you get they are just right. read more

Great food and great service. We came on a busy night and they were a bit shorthanded. They let us know right away that it would be a few minutes before they'd get to us, and throughout our meal they were very open and honest about how long things would take. The food was awesome. I split two entrees with a friend, and the turkey was delicious. The pulled pork was great as well. BBQ sauces were kind of run-of-the mill, but the sides were super - we had gumbo, sweet potato fries, fried okra, and hash brown casserole, and none of those things was a mistake. read more

Look, here's how it is. Ratings are relative, right? If this place was in Salt Lake it'd be three stars at best, and if it was in Texas it'd get two stars and a bunch of hate mail. But you didn't come to Moab for the food. You came to Moab because it's one of the most incredible places on this incredible planet. The pulled pork was completely without rub or bark. Only the decent mustard sauce could save it. The brisket was like sliced ham with a smoke ring. The fried okra was more fried than okra. But the drinks are decent, the atmosphere is great, and if you're lucky you will hear some solid blues (Lisa Mac and the rebels of something? They rocked it). So if you're tired from your epic bike ride and feeling too hungry to cook up something yourself, check out the Blu Pig. It's one of the better meals we've had in Moab. read more

The food was great we went here 2 times while in town.. The first time we sat in the bar section to hear the live blues music which was great but had slow service from our waitress.. The other time we had great service from our waitress in the dinning room section so maybe it just depends on who you get for wait staff.. We came here for a late lunch. A little surprised that the only 'BBQ' lunch sandwich was pulled pork, like no chicken or turkey sandwich, but it's OK. My husband got the pulled pork and it was really a nice large sandwich and came with a side so he got fries. I wasn't that hungry... just got the gumbo. I'm not from Louisiana but have had good and bad gumbo and this was good! They have a few beers on tap (I got the IPA) and a huge selection of bottled beers. All in all it was really good! I wouldn't go out out of my way for this place, but it was next to our hotel and pretty reasonably priced. Food was good, my turkey sandwich was a little dry, but the fries were delicious. We wanted to avoid the live music, so we ate on the patio. It seemed a little cheap out there and could have used a few misters to keep it cooler, but it was quieter and private.
