First time customer. Stopped in for a to-go order and got the jerk chicken and rice with plantains and fry jacks. I'm used to jerk chicken and rice and this did not disappoint. I appreciate that. There's a good amount of sauce with it. I've never heard of fried bread before. I was actually hoping they had festival bread, but this was an interesting alternative. it's fried but soft and perfect for dipping into the sauce from the chicken. I've been visiting Belize for the past 10 years. Visiting doesn't mean I'm an expert but having spent so much time there I got to miss the flavors of Belize. I was shocked to find this restaurant in Gardena! The fillet was seasoned so well. Not too "salty" but wonderfully subtle in the flavoring. I'm a fan of the rice and beans, the taste is earthy and the texture is both "tough" and chewy at the same time. It's a specific texture that's just so good. The plantains! I. love the crust that was on the outside and how wonderfully mushy the plantains were on the inside! If you're a fan of fried doughs (every culture has something fried) then you'll enjoy the fry jacks. I enjoy mine with a little bit of butter and jam. Service is very casual and laid back. If you've traveled abroad you know many cultures are not about rushing you through your meal but checking in on you to make sure you're enjoying and that's the service you get here. I've had homemade Belizian food but this has expanded my cuisine horizons. All dishes listed were delicious however the stewed chicken was a bit salty but edible. My favorite was the hash fish and creole bread. Definitely Caribbean influence yet unique flavors from Belize region. The sour sap juice was refreshing and balanced in sweet flavor. Called in an order and only took 15 minutes. I forgot to ask for etxra gravy poured on my rice with ym stew chicken. Flavor was great. Came with potatoe salad and plantanos. I picked up my order and had an hr drive home since i dont live in the area. The food smelled amazing and i was so hungry that i attempted to eat some on the way home. only NO UTENSILS WE PACKED!!! If you are new to the food of Belize this is a great introduction and if you are well versed you will enjoy it. Owner is from Northern Belize so some of the dishes are influenced by southern Mexican food. The most typical dish is rice and beans ( not beans and rice ) with stewed chicken. My favorite dish here is the tamale. This is street food in Belize but totally unlike a Mexican tamale. It's 3 or 4 times the size of a Mexican tamale and it's an entire meal with all the major foods groups wrapped in banana leafs. The thing has corn, veggies, chicken and pork. The staff is attentive but not too friendly. This is a common even in Belize. This is the kind of restaurant where you will be visually frisked by other patrons when you walk in. There are 50 thousand belizians in Los Angeles and there are simply trying to determine if they know you. It's polite to simply nod. Oh ! Feel free to ask questions. The taste of Belize! Went with family for lunch. I ordered a pink lemonade and the grilled shrimp with potato salad, stew beans and rice and plantains. Was craving some Belizean food and decided to finally check this place out. My friends and I went to Belize last year and have been trying to find some stew chicken as good as the one we tried. The stew chicken came with large portions of sides and the meat was so tender it fell off the bone. The person who took my order was friendly and even gave me a free Pepsi. It was my first time trying Belizean/Caribbean food, and it was amazing!! I ordered the fry chicken which came with rice & beans, plantains, and a side salad of choice (I got the potato salad). We also got a side of panades. The chicken was SO juicy that I didn't even need to use the sauce. The fry jacks had a hint of sweetness and surprisingly paired well with the chicken. The panades paired so well with the pickled onions. Everything came out fresh and piping hot. The inside of the restaurant had a "topical" vibe and the music being played was very fitting. The service was amazing, there was only one person working but he made sure to check up on our table several times. It was a long drive to get here but worth it. She took my order and phone number, told me it would be about 20mins. As soon as I pulled in the parking lot I got a text my order was ready! Whattt watch customer service ok I'm already impressed. I ordered 2 sampler platters, a Stew chicken plate , and added a slice of bread pudding and a powder bun. I only ate the sampler and bread pudding the rest was for my dad. A local gem of a restaurant! This place is named after a location in Belize and serves some of the most authentic belizean food you can find in LA. The owner also serves the food, and imports many of the ingredients from LA itself. This is the only Belizean spot that I really enjoy other than Little Belize, but The Blue Hole is def my #1 pick. I have also tried their oxtails which are tender and yummy. Food is good, prices are fair, ambiance is nice and very clean, service is super friendly and very polite but needs to be trained so they can be more efficient effortlessly and don't miss the little yet most basic things like bringing the utensils from the beginning of the meal, or bring the bill at the end of the meal.
