I started coming to TriniStyle back in 2019 and I hate that it's taken me this long to write a review. THIS is home cooking!!! You can feel the Caribbean energy in this place. Everyone is SO nice and there are some few regulars I've seen over the years The food? Incredible. I've had my fair share of patties, the roti (chicken and shrimp) as well as the bowls to accompany my doubles Doubles: I recommend the channa and I usually get (1) + a bowl or (1) + a chicken/shrimp/veggie roti The roti are big, low-key you can share but I'd recos getting 2 doubles or 2 parties to keep you full In terms of parking in the little square, parking is definitely a little tight - I usually park on the street and have no issue + freedom to chill and eat in the car

I was so excited to find a Trinidadian restaurant in LA! Parking is tight, but I lucked up with a spot. The establishment is cozy, with some seating inside and in front. It fits perfectly in the community. Service was great, the young lady was super helpful with the menu options. The wait wasn't more than 10 mins on a Friday afternoon. The beef patty was delicious. The doubles with the pepper sauce transported me back to my time in Trinidad! The shrimp roti was very yummy as well. I'm so happy I found this place! I'll be back for sure!

Pholourie, Doubles, Sorrel, buss up shut with pumpkin, channa, and cury chicken.

Went again and the food was honestly very disappointing. The best part was the curry chicken. The doubles didn't taste like real doubles from back home. The mango in the chow tasted sour. The buss up skin tasted like they reheated frozen ones and it didn't taste fresh. I also had got oxtail and realized that I shouldn't have. The service was great though! Could just be an off day but I felt like I wasted my money.

Had to stop in and get me a proper Trini meal. Islander to Islander I luv the similarities we share and instant connection. Doesn't matter what island you're from. That's exactly what I got here. Island vibes and genuine kindness. I luv hearing Trini spoken here. I asked for 6 Pholourie. Next time it will be a dozen. So soft like little pillows. You will get addicted in the best way. I had to try a Buss Up Shot plate. Omg luv it. Now I know anytime I'm in the area I'm getting all of these to go. Topped my order off with Doubles. Doubles and the chutneys and did I say Doubles? The best DOUBLES in LA. Can I have 5 please? So yum. I think the stray dogs across the street are bust'n a wine coz they're so good! I had an herbal drink called Mauby. It taste like an island. Love this place and the workers are all super sweet in that lovely Trini way. Love them, luv this and omg try their food! I'm coming back to try the oxtail, fish and callaloo. Mel M Yelp 25:4

Brings you right back to the islands! Friendly staff and an easygoing vibe -- just like Trinidad! You can't go wrong with anything here. The doubles and roti I tried were absolutely the best.

Love this Trini eatery! Decided to check it out when my TriniBagonian friend was visiting. So glad I did because now it's one of our go-to take out spots when I'm not cooking. The roti with curry goat and the oxtail are my favorites. Doubles is also quite good but I've had better in NY.

Food is made to order. Chicken and goat Rotis are authentically prepared with bones. Yum.An island vibe for sure. Not open everyday so get in where you fit in. Highly recommend!

I waited for the weekend for this place to open, and I was not disappointed :) I got the beef roti with mauby. The roti is so flavorful, and the mauby was refreshing. I totally recommend!

Short story: The roti is good Long story: So I lived in NY for 9 years and developed a love and taste for a variety of of Caribbean food. It's no secret that it's hard to find good Caribbean outside of East Coast. When I find a gem in the west, it is a huge deal. This is a great Trini spot for roti at the very least. Veggie Roti: i like my roti savory and this had a sweetness to it from one of the squash they used. I didn't love that as i expected lots of yummy curry potatoes and some other veggies rather than sweet squash in the mix. That makes this a 7/10 for me based on what I can compare it to. However, the size was a it should be along with the cost (in comparison to NY spots) so that's a win. I paid $14 with tax. Chicken roti: they do prepare the chicken and got as is with bones (my sister didn't see the sign but I did) i don't recall them doing this in other spot I've had so that's different but she said it was good, juicy yet not messy. She'd come back as well. Her roti was i believe $17-$18. It's a good place to get Roti or doubles on a Saturday. They have a rotating menu with specific items on Fri-Sunday from what I read so that's definitely interesting. Also, the staff was your typical dry energy Caribbean lady which is a standard rather than an offense when you visit Caribbean spots. The men are usually more extroverted as opposed to the women. I already told some friends about this spot and would come back to try the shrimp roti and other items.

My favorite Caribbean restaurant in Los Angeles! Came here today with two friends that were visiting from the islands and they needed their food fix. First off, the service is great. We were able to talk to multiple staff about the restaurant and other things and the conversation was definitely pleasant. For food, I got the chicken roti and doubles while my friends got the oxtail plate. The portions are huge and everything was delicious. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza and has plenty of parking on the street, as well as the plaza. It overall had a laid back vibe in which they play Caribbean music. There is outside seating if anyone chooses to dine in. I will be back!

The atmosphere is usually chill, which is another reason I enjoyed coming here so often. The food is genuinely delicious. I've had the salmon, and I'm a big fan of the wings and the juices. I used to come here regularly, and I liked the place enough that I even chose them to cater an event for my job. I gave them a specific headcount and explained how much food we would need. They assured me that everything would be taken care of, so I trusted them and put a lot of hype behind the restaurant. Unfortunately, the catering experience was a major disappointment. Not only was our order late, but there was barely enough food for everyone. After being clear about the number of people attending and trusting their team to properly prepare for the event, it felt like they completely dropped the ball. I had recommended and hyped up this place, only for the experience to be subpar and for several things to go wrong. It honestly felt like they played in my face, especially after assuring me that everything was handled. I would have given this place five stars based on the food and my previous experiences, but that catering situation left such a sour taste in my mouth that I haven't returned in quite some time. Loyalty should mean something, and it's difficult to continue supporting a business when you don't feel respected or valued as a customer. The food is still delicious, and I truly enjoyed this place for a long time. But after that experience, I don't think I'll be coming back. I'm sorry, because I really wanted to continue supporting them.

Both were amazing and I had it over rice, as I am not a fan of Roti. It is not a spicy curry like I am used too in Jamaican or Indian style dishes, which is a wonderful change as it seems the older I get I cannot take the heat. Instead it is creamy, and dare I say sweet. While it needs nothing, the tamarind and mango chutney are both worth a try. The truck also lives up to its name serving your food almost immediately after ordering. I had to take away a star for their portion size. It is not a full lunch even though they offer small and large. This comes from someone who does not eat much! I expected to order the large and maybe have some left overs (Most Caribbean portion sizes are a lot bigger and include sides like cabbage, salad and/or plantains). I could see the plates were served in a styrofoam container with three pockets. So my expectations were a lot bigger. As soon as I picked it up plate was noticeably light. They only use the main pocket and it is barely full. I expect more from a large portion of anything. I have a picture with my fork sticking in it for reference. It taste amazing but leaves unsatisfied and yearning for more.

After craving Jamaican food for what feels like forever, I finally decided to search Yelp on my way…read morehome from working in LA and came across The Taste of the Caribbean in Long Beach - and wow, this hit the spot in a way I've been missing for too long. For context, I've always loved Jamaican food and even have family who make incredible, authentic dishes, but I haven't had anything close to that in a year. So my expectations? High. My craving? Even higher. I ordered the jerk chicken dinner with peas & rice and cabbage medley, and some plantains - to go. First off, the service was amazing. The woman who helped me was genuinely warm and welcoming, and you can tell she cares about what she's serving. When I ordered, she asked if I wanted the jerk sauce on the side and made sure I was okay with the spice level when I said no. That attention to detail matters. The food came out quickly (it was mid-afternoon and not busy), and everything stayed warm all the way home--which is always a win for takeout. Now let's talk about the food: The portion was generous, the flavors were on point, and everything tasted fresh. The jerk chicken had that perfect smoky, spicy kick - exactly what I was hoping for. The rice and peas and cabbage medley were a great balance to the heat, and the plantains were sweet and perfectly cooked. I did notice another review complaining about the spice level being too high... and honestly, I had to laugh a little. Have you had jerk chicken before? It's supposed to be spicy - that's the whole point. Personally, that comment is part of what made me choose this place, and it delivered. If you don't like spice, jerk might not be your thing - but I'm sure there are milder options if you ask. Bonus: they offer online ordering and delivery through Uber Eats and Postmates, which makes it even easier to get your fix. Overall, this place brought back the flavors I've been missing for so long. I'll absolutely be back - and probably sooner rather than later.
