I really wanted to love the food but I didn't. There were some items that were good but others were just meh. I give 3 stars for the food but 4 stars for the service. I believe the person who helped me was Leslie. He was so nice and pleasant and gave recommendations for a first timer. Appreciate his patience, easy convo and suggestions. Now for the food. The Garnaches were delicious. Definitely wasn't expecting them (they were given complimentary) but they were so good. Also, the spicy shrimp were delicious. The perfect amount of spice and very flavorful. Lastly, the cabbage is amazing. Sooo good. Unfortunately we ordered 2 dinners and one was missing the cabbage but it was really good! On the other hand, the panades were a major disappointment. Tasted like tuna inside an empanada shell. Very underwhelming and not flavorful. Same with the bean panades. Then for fried red snapper, the fish was good but for $27 it was not a very meaty fish. Lastly the rice and beans were dry. The stew beans were ok but lacked flavor. I've been hearing great things about Blue Hole, I just happen to be in the area and decided to give it a shot so lets dissect this. 1st the people working there were very friendly and pleasant. 2nd the restaurant have an open concept nice and clean plenty of room. Lastly I was seated immediately and the food came out about 5mins later what a waste of time and money. I ordered the stew chicken, rice and beans and potato salad Potato salad 3/5 Rice and beans 1/5 taste like day old rice Stew chicken 2/5 The 2 was for the broth of the chicken was very tasty, the chicken itself was overcooked and dry. I came here because a friend had gotten food from here before. I always want to try a good Belizean restaurant so I was excited to go. I got my staple which is stewed chicken.....minus the potato salad. I should have gotten potato salad instead because the cabbage salad wasn't too good. I didn't know it was going to be cabbage salad, I thought it was going to be regular cabbage....oh well. The salad had a lot of vinegar and pepper. I didn't care for it and didn't finish it. The stewed chicken wasn't that great either unfortunately. The chicken was dry and tough and there wasn't a lot of gravy. I didn't like the spices used for the chicken and I love stewed chicken! The rice and peas didn't have any coconut milk in them and they were mushy. I didn't finish much of my meal and tossed it. What was great was the customer service. The women inside were very friendly. They quoted me a wait time of 20 to 25 minutes which was a bit much so I came earlier than that and it was ready. I think they could use a sign that says 50 cents extra for card. I may come back to try the oxtails and potato salad but not too sure. I've definitely had better. read more

5 minutes agoNEW I visited this restuarant in June 2021 to honor - celebrate my daddy's 84th birthday and Father's day. He passed away a year ago. We has a pleasant experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was welcoming and warm. The staff was friendly, kind and attentive to our needs. The food was simply amazing. Had lunch here last Friday, and I wholeheartedly give this place two thumbs up! I highly recommend ordering the Sampler Plate of appetizers, which include one each of Salbutes, Garnaches, Tostado and Panades. We then ordered the Oxtail Stew, the meat was so tender, and the sides are basic but substantial (rice, plantains and potato salad). We also ordered the Fry Chicken-Fry (fried chicken and fries). The chicken was so crispy and fried perfectly, and came with a sauce that was great for dipping both the chicken and the fries in. I am definitely going to return and will likely try the Orange Walk Tacos and Jerk Chicken or some sort of fish next time. The manager Leslie was welcoming and friendly and the waitresses were also very nice and friendly. It has its own parking lot and the tables inside spaced nicely apart. I feel completely ripped off after spending nearly $100 on a terrible dining experience. We ordered two dinners, some fry jacks and tortillas and a few drinks. One of the dinners was returned half-eaten due to finding gnats in it. To make matters worse, there was a fly embedded in the top of my Pepsi can, the fountain Pepsi was flat, and a fly was found in my daughter's watermelon juice. Despite these issues, my fiancé ended up paying $95 for this awful meal. If I had known about the payment beforehand, I would have refused to pay for the rice, beans, and tilapia meal with flies in it. This experience ruined our evening, and we had to go elsewhere for dinner. When we brought the issues to the staffs attention, they simply said "see that blue light over there? We're trying our best to get rid of them but they're everywhere." Unacceptable on all levels!! I understand that they can't get rid of the gnats on their own, so maybe they need to hire an exterminator. It's unsanitary and disgusting to serve food with flies in it, drinks with flies in it and expect people to eat in an establishment with gnats flying all over. The restaurant needs to address this gnat infestation immediately to improve the experience for future customers. Additionally, the menu should clearly specify the type of fish fillet being served. I thought I was ordering red snapper but received tilapia instead, which I do not eat. When I asked the waitress what type of fish it was, she did not know. The service was also disappointing. Our waitress was unfriendly and made us feel like we were bothering her. When she came over to the table she didn't welcome us to the restaurant nor did she tell us her name so that we could address her properly. Despite this, she received a $14 tip, which was undeserved. Leslie was friendly, but I believe he should have deducted at least half of the total bill for the inedible food. Charging customers for food they couldn't eat is unacceptable. Would he serve food with gnats in it to his children? This is not a good way to do business. I chose to patronize this business as my parents are Belizean, and being a visitor from NY I thought it was cool how LA has a few Belizean restaurants but I made a mistake coming to blue hole tonight. They replied to my review agreeing that paying for inedible food isn't right and to call them directly and theyl issue a full refund, yea not happening. I called twice and keep getting the run around they have no intention on refunding me. We paid cash and don't even live in California and they know that. Leslie took $8 off the bill before we paid them as if $8 off a $80+ bill is acceptable when you have a gnat infestation. I'm reporting them to the Los Angeles county health department. read more

The food was absolutely amazing, delicious, & seasoned perfectly. I had the stewed beef and my partner had the red snapper. Im going to keep on returning for these dishes for the rest of my life. The restaurant felt like a beautiful Caribbean day with its inviting colors and extremely friendly and accommodating staff. Our server was so attentive, and considerate. And the manager was so kind to greet me and my family and have a nice talk with us about another amazing staff member in the back, Alberto, who is also a gentle, kind soul. DELICIOUS!!! Everything tasted fresh,well-seasoned,& not super high in sodium like so many other restaurants. Also loved the atmosphere..it was totally empty for dine-in! Lol. Literally me and my date were the only ones dining in. Loved the flower centerpieces,and the calypso music playing in the background. First the location was cute and welcoming. The Manager was pleasant and attentive. We tried the sampler tray, stew chicken and breakfast eggs plate...oh my God the food was awesome!!! And the fried jack melts in your mouth! I have to admit our Sunday outing was worth the drive, the value, and the time! For my first experience once this restaurant has reopened was HORRIBLE. I requested water for my 2 year old and never received it. Despite my repeated requests or crying baby I was told to wait. Sitting in a party of 14, 12 were feed while 2 of us waited for Chicken. Unexpectable! I requested my food to go and still waited. My stew Chicken and Curry Chicken was ready and everyone else at the tables had completed their meals. The waitress never apologized never!! Unfortunately I will have to drive out of my community to get Belizean food after all the wait the food was fresh. This is definitely the spot for good Belizean food! If you are in the southbay or surrounding cities, make it a point to try this place! The service is great and the owners and their staff are very nice. My personal favorite is the Fry Snapper and fish pandes.....you can also order sampler plate which has a few different Belizean finger foods.
