I wish I would have found out about this place sooner. I was in town for 12 weeks and stumbled upon this place my last few days. I love how bright, friendly, and welcoming this cafe is. The employees are the sweetest, and they serve everything from coffee, to beer and wine. This place is outstanding. The decor is so cute and unique, everyone that works here is on point with their customer service, the food is absolutely delicious. We tried the corn cakes, the hashbrown breakfast, seasonal lattes, drip coffee, and the pumpkin spice donut was one of the best donuts I've ever had. We have been eating here once a week for the summer. The food and service have been excellent every time. The food is always fresh, even their macaroni salad is made in house. And if they have apple pie - take a piece home with you. There is outdoor seating with plenty of distancing. If you're in Joseph you have to stop here. The CUTEST cafe I think I've ever been to. We had the Cricket and Plain Jane breakfast sandwiches, both of which were fantastic. They make their own English muffins for the sandwiches, which are a revelatory experience. We also had the blueberry basil waffle, which was also phenomenal. The outdoor seating is super pleasant on a nice day too. Everyone working there was also very kind and welcoming. Don't drive by this place without at least stopping for a cup of coffee. I was hoping to be delightfully surprised by the branding of bistro and bakery. Their food is on par with what I can get in the deli department of a grocery store. Their bread and pizza dough are not homemade so I don't get the "bakery" advertising. They offer a basic fare of sandwiches and salads that I could easily make at home. I think a great niche for them would be adding some vegan options. I do love the vibe of the place and how it is decorated. So glad we found this place when visiting Joseph and the Wallowas recently. Enjoyed our breakfast there so much that we came back the next morning after another place in town we attempted to try was too busy. And we may have also stopped by to pick up a scone on our way out of town the day after that. :) Everything was so tasty and the super flavorful but not too spicy iced chai was perfect on a hot summer morning. Wow! This place is fantastic! We stopped in yesterday on our way to the lake and had a delightful lunch. There were 6 of us and our food was delivered in just a couple minutes and boy oh boy, what a treat! A couple of us had the Muffuletta sandwich (the special of the day) and what a treat that was! Love this place! We went twice during our short visit to the Wallowas. First for a bit of afternoon pie. Don't judge, that's how we roll. It was delicious! Not pretty- I kinda got the dregs being the afternoon and all. But delicious nonetheless. The crust was absolutely amazing! I had berry pie hubs had apple. The Apple looked like it had the requisite amount of cinnamon- hubs was pleased. Then, on our way out we stopped for breakfast and we were once again very pleased. We both had kind of standard breakfasts, but they were very good! Eggs over medium for me ( which more often than not, are not cooked correctly) these were perfect. The hash browns were yummy and the bacon was perfectly crispy but not over done. Hubs had scrambled eggs and I heard him "mmmm" as he ate them and he said he liked the hash browns ( which he can usually take or leave). We both also had a cinnamon bun ( so good) and coffee. The place is super cute and well appointed. Open modern concept with lots of space, light, and color. See pics (I'm a much better writer than I am a photographer, so apologies in advance). I'm pretty stingy with my 5 star reviews but I have to say this one almost made it. My only issue was that the coffee was really bitter and I wasn't a fan. Please understand this is only my taste. I'm sure others might love the coffee. But for me, it missed the mark. I had to add a little sugar ( which I haven't been doing for awhile). Anyway, I totally hope this place is able to make things work in this climate (covid/wildfires) because I would love to revisit in the future! read more

Came to eat breakfast, unfortunately it was too late. So my wife and I settled on some sandwiches. My wife's sandwich was fine she stated. I had a panini. It was first ever. It was wonderful. The bread was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and tender inside. It was the ham and cheese with Dijon one. I'd order it again. the restaurant was nice, high ceiling gave it a open air feel, lots of windows. The cinnamon and sugar donuts were the best I've ever had, and I've had many. Even my son liked the donut I brought home for him. Which was amazing in itself. The decor was eclectic and homey. Can't say about the restroom. Never used it. The staff was ok. Not very talkative a little standoffish, but I don't go for the banter. Definitely going back for breakfast. That's the key, it's worthy of a return visit. If not for the donuts alone. We come to Joseph every year and this cafe is new since apparently last January. My family and I tried it out in July, the first day we arrived from Portland, and loved it. All the food we had (breakfast sandwiches, waffles, coffee cake), was amazing. Flavors were balanced and food was very fresh. Coffee was excellent! Attention to detail here was spot on, and the place was very clean. We came back multiple times during our stay and were never disappointed. If you come to Joseph, this place is worth a try. I was impressed on two recent visits. In addition to espresso, nice place for bfast, lunch, snacks. Ample portions, very reasonable prices. Soups (especially mushroom) are great homemade quality. This place is difficult. I came here with my family after we spent time camping. And so my expectations for this place after someone recommended it to me were pretty high. I came in with my chin up ready for a nice meal after being very disappointed after waiting almost an hour for my order of the bacon, eggs, and whipped butter with maple syrup waffle finally came to me. I was too surprised how much they ruined it. The bacon was inside when one of my family member who ordered a strawberry Nutella waffle has the berries on top of the waffle. I mean, how does one get bacon inside a waffle when someone else is getting berries on top of their waffle!? And don't even get me started with the horrendous eggs. I had to wash out the taste with eating it with my syrup. I truly find this place very difficult. The customer service couldn't even be any worse due to my sister ordering a waffle with strawberries. For 10 minutes later they said they were out so she got it with bananas. Then another 10 minutes later they were out of that too! This place was not worth the wait and the prices were even worse. 12$ for something I can make, homemade, for 5. read more

Unfortunately, my salad ended up being sub-par and they neglected to tell me they were out of beans before I put in my order.
