Terrible experience. Sad to say that the owners of this hotel are highly unethical people and do…read morenot deal with customers in an honest way...and appear to be only motivated to take your money. I made the mistake of booking my reservation through a well known third party site but with the knowledge that the reservation could be cancelled without penalty. In fact, the confirmation from Orcas hotel specifically states that their cancellation policy is "flexible" and that it can be refunded if more than 7 days notice is made. However, after requesting the cancellation very far ahead, I got the classic run around where each time I called I was told that the person didn't have authority to make the cancellation and that the owner needed to Ok this. Finally, after multiple calls, an presumed employee spoke to the owner (didn't allow me to speak directly) and gave me a completely false reason that the owner could not approve the cancellation! Totally false and obviously contradicted everything I had been told in prior calls and not even consistent with the written policy on the confirmation. Avoid this place! Lots of better alternatives to stay on Orcas Island.

Such a stunning setting, wow!…read more I've had the pleasure of visiting Orcas at least once a year since I was a little kid, and finally had the chance to stay at Rosario Resort. While the rooms aren't modern, the views from the Harborside buildings are fabulous. What a lovely spot to sit out on the deck and have a peaceful breakfast. I enjoy walking around the property, and hope to visit someday during the summer to take advantage of the waterside adult swimming pool--one of the best PNW pool views I've seen. (There is a kid-friendly outdoor pool located at the center of the property, and an indoor salt water pool located adjacent to the spa that's open year-round.) The charming mansion is fun to explore, and the restaurant offers tasty menus items (with vegetarian and vegan options, hooray). Although it's fun to stay in different vacation rentals across the island, I'd be happy to come back to Rosario in the future. It's located conveniently close to Cascade Lake and Mountain Lake, plus it's not too much of a drive to get into town.

The mansion was (as people have said) shut down and there was just a bunch of trash outside of it. This also meant no amenities so the advertised pool/hot tub, etc. just not a part of it. -The room itself also has clearly not been updated in a while with old outlets, stained couches, and stained walls from the fire place? Honestly this stuff wouldn't really bother me that much had the price just been wayyyy lower. Hiltons offer way nicer rooms for half the price with real people there to help. I think maybe while they're renovating they should just offer price cuts but oh well. I did ultimately enjoy my stay and will be back to Orcas Island for its cute charm :)

Super kind and helpful with directions and everything else. Arrived and found our key, drove up to our room. Up a windy road and there are several buildings belonging to this same hotel. We were lucky enough to end up on the very top building on the top set of rooms. Great view! Our room had 2 queen beds, was nicely decorated, gigantic bathroom that had 2 sinks, clean room, and a balcony with a small table and 2 chairs overlooking the water. One complaint, the shower head had little pressure because it was so high up for us little folk.... by the time the water reached me it was like taking a shower in the rain... this seems to be common among hotels though... Other amenities include ice/soda machine in our little building and in the marina there is a pool, shuffleboard, tetherball, volleyball net, etc. Price is EXTREMELY reasonable considering what you get, they had a midweek deal that we snapped up and it ended up being some of the cheapest private accommodations available anywhere on Orcas at the time!

Along with great food, we had nice conversation with owner. He gave us valuable advices regarding islands, what to visit and generally about the life on the island. Definitely would stay here again!

Second, an Inn employee hit my brand new car (Mercedes Benz with 100 miles on it) while I was getting a treatment. As I was leaving, the Innkeeper or Manager laughingly told me my car was hit. I thought it was a joke because he kept laughing and telling jokes. He had not called to report the accident and didn't notify me until I was walking out the door to catch a ferry to go back home (live on island). I finally told the manager (or whoever he was) that thanks, but I wasn't in the mood for humor given the circumstances. I had to call the Police to make a report. The report clearly showed the employee was at fault. Given that we live on an Island, this is going to cost us thousands - not even to mention the huge depreciation on a brand new car. After some consideration, it seemed reasonable that perhaps the Inn would credit my stay given the circumstances. My wife called the Inn and spoke with the manager and owner. At first, they immediately hung up on her saying "we don't have time for this" - she was being very polite. Flabbergasted, she called back, and they said we don't care about your situation or that our employee hit your car. Call the insurance company. They were exceptionally rude about it as well. Finally, there are other accommodation options in La Conner. I highly recommend them over Blue Heron. People like this don't deserve our business.

We weren't disappointed: Bouillabaisse: This was our first time trying this dish, and it was the highlight for us. It was incredibly flavorful--exactly what we were craving. Spicy Prawn Mac and Cheese: It definitely lived up to its name! It wasn't "blow-your-head-off" hot, but it had a perfect, noticeable kick that really elevated the dish. Blackened Cod Tacos: These were fantastic. The cod was perfectly prepared and worked so well with the rest of the taco ingredients. We also enjoyed a couple of non-alcoholic drinks that hit the spot, though I'll admit that since I'm writing this a couple of weeks later, I forgot to snag photos or the specific names of the drinks! For the nature of the restaurant, we had hoped for our waitress to be more friendly and genuine. However, it felt like they just wanted to fulfill our order and be done. I ordered the South Sound Clams and Snapper Sandwich. Bathing in an umami-packed and rich Thai curry broth, the clams were tender and fresh with a bit of brine. Very good and shareable with one other person. The snapper sandwich wowed me! The bright escovitch and creamy avocado paired wonderfully with the snapper. Every bite was delightful. The house-made potato chips, however, were disappointing. They were thin, not crispy, and sticking to my teeth. If you can, substitute for fries or salad. Despite our subpar service, the delicious, well-priced food and beautiful scenery still make this the perfect date spot.
