Stained glass in the lighthouse dining area
    Kristin C.

I found this on Yelp looking for a restaurant near my new home. We live a bit out there. When you pull up it is absolutely amazing. The castle, the boat, the gift shop. There's even a lighthouse (that's where we had our lunch) Amazing home style cooking and friendly waitstaff. Definitely a bucket list check off kind of place.

    The light house room.

This restaurant is in the back of Soloman's castle. You can eat inside or outside. It's cute that you have to walk thru a ship. Service was great and the menu had plenty of choices.

We finished the tour, ending in the boat, which greatly enhanced the dining experience, having learned details. Mr. Solomon made the 16th century Spanish galleon about six weeks after open heart surgery. The stained glass is beautiful. The cypress and pine were hand-hewn by him. It is warm inside on a hot day but there is the option for garden seating. We ordered the southwestern chicken salad (large, fresh, artsy with a face looking back at you) and the meatloaf (only "ok" wouldn't order again). The apple oatmeal crisp pie with cinnamon ice cream was luscious. The banana split was beautiful and like the ones of yore at an ice cream shoppe. They had two new servers who were just learning so refills, check quickly served were not happening. The food came out quickly though. Prices are great and the menu is available on line. Mr. Solomon himself was dining when we were there and we enjoyed talking with him. His daughter, Alane runs the restaurant and is also a neat lady. This place is not "elegant" nor "gourmet" but is full of character and whimsy and a nice break from the beaten path.

Friendly service, Green salad with shredded chicken was ok, needed more than one packet of salad dressing and a bigger plate so the ingredients don't keep falling on the table. The walnut pie was excellent

Great homemade meals in a friendly and unique atmosphere! The Chicken Pot Pie with spinach casserole was great! The Meatloaf my wife had tasted great! My daughter got a hot dog off of the kids menu and it looked pretty good too!

What a fun experience! This place is definitely worth the trip. The atmosphere is delightful. Enjoying a warm breeze, while sitting under a canopy of trees. The live jazz music playing in the background, who would've expected it! Whitney was our server, she was very informative about the restaurant and it's history. She was warmhearted and full of smiles. Portions are on the larger side so plan accordingly. The boat in the moat is definitely off the beaten track but worth a visit!

The server was miserable and treated us terribly. She rolled her eyes multiple times at us and was rude to my son when he ordered his food. He wanted a Cesar salad and wings and after he ordered the salad she moved on to my daughter. After she was finished he looked at me and said "I didn't get to order my wings". I told her that he also wanted wings (eye roll) and she said "well, I didn't hear him order wings, so I didn't HEAR HIM". He is 12, he isn't a little child, and the way she interacted was horrible. Food came out and we never saw her again. She never refilled drinks and she avoided our table like we were the plague. Then, LOL I asked the hostess if they could do something for his birthday and they said they would let our waitress know. I joked with my kids dad and step mom that she's probably going to be farther annoyed that we asked, an lo and behold, she came over to the table and said "yeah, we don't do birthdays here". The website literally says "celebrate your birthday with us!" ‍ We were trying to talk to a manager on our way out, but she told us they were too busy to talk to us. We are from out of town and this experience would have never happened at our Millers. Crazy overall.

The Angus burger is so flavorful and was cooked to perfection! My friend's buffalo chicken salad was delicious and enough for three meals. Can't fault a single thing. We take a trip to Legoland every now and again and every time we do we come and eat dinner here. We have loved every single meal. This time I branched out and tried another drink, I tried the sincerely, Lucille. It is vodka with fresh strawberries and basil, and it is amazing. Future Christina this is your new go to drink. My husband got his standard old-fashioned and enjoyed it. For food, I got the chimichurri steak, next time I should remember to get the chimichurri on the side just because my younger son didn't like the green stuff on the steak. The chimichurri is delicious. It was cooked perfectly at medium rare, I got their homemade chips as one of my sides because my kids wanted it. Their chips are so good that was definitely the way to go. I also got green beans which were amazing as well. My older son got the kids mac & cheese with a side of fries. I even loved his mac & cheese. It's definitely not the Kraft mac & cheese. My husband got the barbecue plate. He had mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes and loved all of it. My younger son ate off of all of our plates and we pretty much finished all our food. My younger son then got a dessert of vanilla ice cream with Oreos and he scarfed it down. We've never had a problem getting a seat here because it is a good size restaurant. The staff is very friendly and the food comes out pretty quickly. If you're anywhere close to this restaurant, you should be eating here.

Most plates were like less than $10 and usually came with two sides and bread. I had their hamburger steak meal. The meat was cooked perfectly. I asked for (medium rare). The mashed potatoes were really-really good (not Instant)! All for ten dollars. BTW, you may read in the reviews that they only take cash. That was true until about six months ago. Now they do take credit cards with and 3% service charge. I'm only visiting in Wauchula for a little while, but God Willing I'll be back before leaving town.

It has several privately owned restaurants that are solid, and this is one of them. I love a good breakfast so off I went! Arriving- These fine folks are on the outskirts of the city on Route 17 South. They are super easy to find. Depending on which way you come in, you'll be driving by citrus groves, cucumber fields and cattle ranches. If you're really lucky, you might see a bear! They are in a dilapidated plaza with no presence at all, but parking is plentiful and easy. Pro Tip- Route 17 might freak you out a little. It's a divided highway but it's divided by 1000 feet of homes and businesses! Often you can't see the other lanes! Atmosphere- There is none. It's an old building with old fixtures and furniture. There are many booths with hard, uncomfortable wooden seats with no padding. Can you say, "Butt ache!" Pro Tip- CASH ONLY so come prepared! Customer Service- Excellent! My server had worked there for 8 years and was a pro and it showed! Food- Stand southern, American menu with no surprises. I ordered a Ham & Cheese Omelet with potatoes plus coffee. It cost me $12.80 pre-tip. The coffee was hot and good. The potatoes were piping hot and not greasy. The omelet had plenty of fillings, but they were all packed in the middle with empty ends and that annoys me a little. However, it was very good, and the overall breakfast was solid. This is a hard one to rate for me. It probably should be 3.5. There are plenty of places nearby with a better atmosphere and equally solid food. I'm going with four stars because of the stellar service. Just remember to bring a pillow for your butt!
