Stained glass in the lighthouse dining area
    Kristin C.

I found this on Yelp looking for a restaurant near my new home. We live a bit out there. When you pull up it is absolutely amazing. The castle, the boat, the gift shop. There's even a lighthouse (that's where we had our lunch) Amazing home style cooking and friendly waitstaff. Definitely a bucket list check off kind of place.

    The light house room.

This restaurant is in the back of Soloman's castle. You can eat inside or outside. It's cute that you have to walk thru a ship. Service was great and the menu had plenty of choices.

We finished the tour, ending in the boat, which greatly enhanced the dining experience, having learned details. Mr. Solomon made the 16th century Spanish galleon about six weeks after open heart surgery. The stained glass is beautiful. The cypress and pine were hand-hewn by him. It is warm inside on a hot day but there is the option for garden seating. We ordered the southwestern chicken salad (large, fresh, artsy with a face looking back at you) and the meatloaf (only "ok" wouldn't order again). The apple oatmeal crisp pie with cinnamon ice cream was luscious. The banana split was beautiful and like the ones of yore at an ice cream shoppe. They had two new servers who were just learning so refills, check quickly served were not happening. The food came out quickly though. Prices are great and the menu is available on line. Mr. Solomon himself was dining when we were there and we enjoyed talking with him. His daughter, Alane runs the restaurant and is also a neat lady. This place is not "elegant" nor "gourmet" but is full of character and whimsy and a nice break from the beaten path.

Friendly service, Green salad with shredded chicken was ok, needed more than one packet of salad dressing and a bigger plate so the ingredients don't keep falling on the table. The walnut pie was excellent

Great homemade meals in a friendly and unique atmosphere! The Chicken Pot Pie with spinach casserole was great! The Meatloaf my wife had tasted great! My daughter got a hot dog off of the kids menu and it looked pretty good too!

What a fun experience! This place is definitely worth the trip. The atmosphere is delightful. Enjoying a warm breeze, while sitting under a canopy of trees. The live jazz music playing in the background, who would've expected it! Whitney was our server, she was very informative about the restaurant and it's history. She was warmhearted and full of smiles. Portions are on the larger side so plan accordingly. The boat in the moat is definitely off the beaten track but worth a visit!

There was plenty to take home and have a second meal, and she said it was all delicious. I ordered the soup (clam chowder) and house Caesar. The soup was nice and hot and tasted great. The salad was good, though a tad heavy on the dressing. A general note about Miller's and its kids' menu: I have eaten at a few of these places around the state, and I find their policy about adults eating off the kids' menu to be weird. Some servers are fine with it and some claim management won't let them allow you to order of the other menu. Most items on the kids' menu cost about $8. The (adult) meatloaf is $8.50. The fish and chips are $7.99. So, what is the big deal about an adult ordering off the kids' menu if the costs are the same? Some of us don't want a 1/2 pound burger. The kids' menu has a 1/4 lb. burger. Also, we sometime dine with our disabled nephews, and they usually prefer "kid friendly" dishes. I wish Miller's would review this policy.

I got the butterfly gin drink again and as always, it is 10 out of 10. It isn't too sweet and it packs a punch. My husband got an old-fashioned and enjoyed it. For our Mains, I got the pear salad, which was great. I didn't add any protein because my younger son got the grilled chicken kids meal with french fries. He only eats half the chicken so I got the other half. My older son got buttered noodles and a side of fries. It was very good as well, he liked the buttered noodles, but stopped halfway through, so I wouldn't be surprised if he chooses another dish next time. He does love the fries. My husband got the chimichurri steak which he should get every single time because it is delicious and my younger son eats a ton of it as well. This time he got the vegetable of the day and mashed potatoes as his sides and enjoyed both. Parking is a breeze because there is a lot of nearby street parking. It is only about 15 minutes away from LEGOLAND, so I highly recommend if you're in the area skip all the chain restaurants and come here instead.

She had the Breakfast Burger with fries and I went with the skirt steak and eggs. Both were excellent. The steak was cooked right and the whole plate came together well. Service was a little slow, which kept this from being a perfect visit. We also happened to be seated near one extremely loud patron, which made the room harder to enjoy, though that is obviously not the cafe's fault. Even with the slow service, the quality of the food is what matters and Lucille's delivered. We would come back.

Well-versed on the menu and a very pleasant lady. It's certainly not a fancy place and it looks like it's been around for a while, but it's the kind of place where you might like to hang out at the bar. Everyone there seems to be friendly and you get that comfortable feeling. We had a variety of food items, some better than others but nothing below average. Really good salads, as you can see by the pictures, a nice job on the chicken wings, a BLT that was pretty tasty; the butternut squash soup was OK, pretty thick and not hot at all. One was returned to the kitchen to be heated up. There was a chicken dip that really didn't hit the spot, and the tortilla chips that came with it seem to be past their prime. As for the fried mushrooms. I found them pretty much ordinary. A nice surprise were the brussels sprouts with balsamic and goat cheese. Really really good. Overall, I would give the food about a 3 1/2 stars at the service five stars so what averages out around four stars. Like I said it looks like a nice place to hang around and have a couple of beverages and a little something to eat.

It has several privately owned restaurants that are solid, and this is one of them. I love a good breakfast so off I went! Arriving- These fine folks are on the outskirts of the city on Route 17 South. They are super easy to find. Depending on which way you come in, you'll be driving by citrus groves, cucumber fields and cattle ranches. If you're really lucky, you might see a bear! They are in a dilapidated plaza with no presence at all, but parking is plentiful and easy. Pro Tip- Route 17 might freak you out a little. It's a divided highway but it's divided by 1000 feet of homes and businesses! Often you can't see the other lanes! Atmosphere- There is none. It's an old building with old fixtures and furniture. There are many booths with hard, uncomfortable wooden seats with no padding. Can you say, "Butt ache!" Pro Tip- CASH ONLY so come prepared! Customer Service- Excellent! My server had worked there for 8 years and was a pro and it showed! Food- Stand southern, American menu with no surprises. I ordered a Ham & Cheese Omelet with potatoes plus coffee. It cost me $12.80 pre-tip. The coffee was hot and good. The potatoes were piping hot and not greasy. The omelet had plenty of fillings, but they were all packed in the middle with empty ends and that annoys me a little. However, it was very good, and the overall breakfast was solid. This is a hard one to rate for me. It probably should be 3.5. There are plenty of places nearby with a better atmosphere and equally solid food. I'm going with four stars because of the stellar service. Just remember to bring a pillow for your butt!
