Service was absolutely terrible ... took 20 mins for someone to notice us and my boyfriend had to ask the waitress to come over. We were out for a Valentine's Day dinner they sat us side by side against the cold windows in February.. and all you can see is pitch black.. when we finally got to order our orders were terrible. My boyfriend got the mushroom risotto and it looked like it was out of the box and it was way over cheesed and cooked. I got the New York strip asked for medium rare got medium well.. the potatoes were definitely out of a box and cold .. only thing fresh was the green beans and mushrooms.. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! Took 10 minutes to acknowledge us standing there waiting to be seated and there were only 2 other people in the whole restaurant. (I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WERE SO EMPTY FOR BREAKFAST!) Finally seated right next to the bar - they took our drink order immediately. However, they blended and made our drinks at the bar and then left them sit there on a tray for over 20 minutes without bringing them to us. We were literally 5 feet from the bar! When they finally grabbed the tray that held only OUR drinks, they walked right by us with them and went all the way on the other side of the restaurant and then set them down on an empty table while they took another table's order! Then they LEFT THEM SIT on that empty table for another 10 minutes!!! Unbelievable!!! When they finally got to our table the ice was all melted and the drinks were watery. WE LEFT AFTER 1 HOUR AND 20 MINUTES. NEVER GOT OUR FOOD! The view was excellent, the food was average however the service was awful. There were 2 waiters outside, neither had a sense of urgency and spilled old fashioned over me and the table for which they did not wipe up or compensate us for. We needed to ask for ketchup, dipping sauce for chicken fingers and the soda that came with kids meal for which they charged us for. Forgot the plates for the pizza so that took a bit for them to bring out. My wife provided feedback on the service to the manager and at no time did she offer any compensation for the spilled drink and only if he hadn't refunded the soda. It was apparent that this wasn't the first negative feedback and she commented that their bad reviews for the 2 waiters makes them seem to get worse than better. If a business needs to staff up from foreign countries, make sure they know the expectations of being a waiter. You need to hustle, have personality, service skill set and the manager should be out there coaching them to success. read more

I can't in my right mind recommend the Boathouse. The atmosphere was so stale and militant. All the servers seemed stiff and not happy to be serving anyone. We had to ask a few times for our sides before they finally brought them. The food was mostly pretty good. The Philly cheesesteak that I had was less then fantastic and would not recommend it. Our server never came to our table after the food was served, never refilled our waters or other drinks. Instead they were far more interested in hanging out at the front host station, laughing and carrying on with their coworkers than waiting on their tables. Even without the poor service, the atmosphere was pretty bad, no music, no energy nothing there made us want to stay there. It was really sad. It was our daughters birthday and she picked out this place. It was rather heartbreaking to see that she was super disappointed. So much so that she wanted to leave about 15mins after we got there. We had even said to our waiter that it was her birthday and that she was excited to eat there. We saw other parties come in the front door and about 2mins later walk back out. HOLY SWEET BABY JESUS BAD SERVICE Walking into this place was like we came in after hours only to be greeted by the glow of the lights from the bar. Walking in and sitting down we looked around in disbelief till a ponytail wearing skinnier Fabio came and asked us " what can I get you " well plenty of thoughts ran through my head and how to respond but I chose to shut my mouth. The bartenders overall demeanor was piss poor and I could imagine we were stopping him from doing something in the back. My wifes drink was a rum and pineapple and I had a margarita. So 15 minutes later and he came back I noticed he had no sense of humor about my " good place to open a bar " comment. Waaay overrated. The view was stunning but the breakfast was just plain bad. I had French toast. The server didn't bring out syrup or better. When he finally did, the butter, syrup and my food were cold and super bland. My girlfriend had an omelet. It was pretty good but she said the hash browns sucked. The service was mediocre. Our waiter didn't seem to have much of a mastery of the English language, either that or he was just not too bright. The bloody Mary's were watered down and bland. Upon arrival we were greeted and asked to follow to our table. The restaurant is small but very cozy. Dimmed lights and the view makes it very romantic. We were served bread and butter to start. It was very delicious. I have 2 small picky eaters and the server was very understanding and patient. When my daughter changed her mind of her food order, we received change of meal within couple minutes. All our meal, from appetizer to the entree and my Margarita was AMAZING . Beautiful setting on the Wisconsin River, The Vue could be so much more. Ordered a gin and tonic - but no tonic water.....how hard would it be to send someone to the store and pick some up? Our party ordered a Philly Cheese steak (ridiculously salty), Miso ramen with chicken (tough stringy chicken, frozen vegetables and overly salty broth), chicken marsala (tough chicken and again overly salty) and fettuccini alfredo with shrimp (guess what....salty). Wait staff was attentive and worked hard to please but they were certainly understaffed in the dining room. Mary the hostess was a gem, one of the nicest ladies you'll ever meet. Hope they can get their act together - so much competition in the area, they are not in the discussion for "where to eat" in the Dells. read more

Bait & switch. Not worth your time. The views are great, sure, but my goodness is this over priced with horrible and slow service. The $13 Vue Burger was sub-par with only grilled onion and cheese (not anything like the photo or description they provided which included lettuce and tomato). The $14 Grain Bowl mentioned avocados in the dish, but they were never seen. And the salad... don't even get me started on the $15 Caprese Salad!!! This arrived at my table and I was in complete shock, in a bad way. I should have been warned by the waitress or I should have looked up photos of this salad before I decided that 3 tiny cherry tomatoes would be my dinner meal. Not to mention, we kept waiting for our drinks and had to remind the waitress of bread and water after waiting 20 minutes. Good luck to you if you come here. The views from the dining room are amazing. I can't say enough about the filet. Cut it with a fork if you want, and it melts in your mouth. We were seated promptly, our order was taken in a timely manner, and the courses arrived hot and in a reasonable amount in time to finish appetizers and salad. Me, my husband, our son, and our 2 god kids checked into this hotel for my sons birthday. The hotel was beautiful and great. Had breakfast here the next morning and the food was nothing to rave about. The server was nice and friendly. He handled all of our problems but I wasn't satisfied with the food. The mimosas were AMAZING. My potatoes for my breakfast were cooked so hard that they weren't potatoes anymore. My husbands steak was well done when he asked for medium but they replaced it. The food wasn't seasoned well. The other food issues were smaller but too many. Overall the view and the service were great but the food just wasn't up to par. I give them props for fixing the issues the best way they could. I wouldn't completely count them out. read more

We live in Wisconsin Dells and have now had beverages and dinner four times at The Vue. The first three times were enjoyable, although the service in the dining area was never that good. Our last visit 7/27/2019 was disappointing. The appetizer menu no longer has shrimp cocktail, which was previously a bargain and fabulous. In addition, the cheese platter is now half the size it was and double the price. Service in the dining area continues to underwhelm. The Vue is no longer high on my list. read more

This hotel doesn't value their guests safety - especially female guests! My two sisters and I stayed at the Vue for a weekend getaway. The second night we stayed we were repeatedly harassed by a man in the middle of the night. He was butt-naked and kept knocking on the door and trying to use his key to gain access to our room. To make matters worse the front desk worker even accompanied the naked man to our door because he insisted it was his room. The front desk worker repeatedly knocked on our door saying we needed to open our door and speak with them. After we told them they had the wrong room (through the door because it seemed like something was shady and we didn't feel safe opening the door) they continued to ask us questions such as "are there any men in there". I ended up calling 911 because I didn't trust the hotel and we continued to be harassed by the two men. The next morning we went to the front desk to share our concerns with what happened the night before and while there was initially some concern for what we experienced the receptionist began to ague with what we told her. When we said that the man repeatedly came back to our room she said that it wasn't noted in the report, as if to say that we were exaggerating. When I told her I called the hotel but they didn't answer before deciding to call 911 she told me I dialed the wrong number (I used what was on google when I searched them online). After the fact I called them to tell them that we just want our money back so we can move in from the situation they said that the best they could do was refund 50% of our stay... really??? I explained that not only was the situation unfortunate but the front desk worker actually made the situation worse and made us feel more unsafe. Even though the incident happened on the second night we stayed, the whole situation tainted the trip. Our weekend getaway was ruined by the incident. Further, it is clear through the way they handled the situation that they don't care about their guest sense of safety or resolving incidents that take place at their hotel. read more

We stayed at The VUE hotel in the middle of July. The restaurant website tells you they are all booked.. no reservations available. Wrong... call the Restaurant to make a reservation and they tell you that you have to call the front desk... they don't do that from the restaurant. Call the front desk... they are not quite understanding English... and tell you that the hotel is booked for the night. Tell them you are trying to make a reservation for the restaurant... Oh just come on down... and talk to some one there, you should be able to get right in... sort of a comedy of errors. The food was mediocre. They forgot my salad, took 20 minutes to bring the catsup for my fries..which were cold by then. Waitress kept disappearing ... and the Bruschetta had a hot spicy oil in it that was not on the list of ingredients, making it inedible. They ask how you want the fish cooked..(salmon) and it was ordered MEDIUM but came out very well done... over cooked. Lastly horrible "spacing" of courses... Seated us with menus, then no one for 10 minutes (they were not very busy) finally she shows up, takes the orders... and about ten more minutes.. water and beverages. Wait some more.... then bread. About 5 minutes later theappetizers show up, followed in about one minute the entrees. Then wait 20 minutes for the catsup to arrive. The next morning we tried to do breakfast... but they were short handed and were told to sit at the side, and he would try to work us in... there were 4 tables seated at the time. I usually don't leave reviews, but this was the worst service I have ever experienced. My family checked in late and had dinner and it took 2 hours to get our meal. Salads came first drinks came last. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because they were understaffed even though the restaurant was not busy. Came back the next morning for breakfast and the same service occurred again. Not busy, careless staff, but ok food. If you are on vacation and want time to explore, plan on this place chewing up at least two hours of your time for simple meals. read more

Me and my three friends stopped by for a bite of breakfast. We ordered the avocado toast, which did not taste like avocado and was very plain. We ordered the french toast and the buttermilk pancakes which were both dry and of poor taste. We also got the breakfast platter and the hash browns were mediocre, the eggs were plain and very oily. Last, the fruit cup included a cut up strawberry, four blueberries, two grapes, and a piece of pineapple, all of which tasted a bit spoiled and was four dollars (ridiculously). We each got juice which was good (orange and pineapple). On the other hand, our waiter (Seven) was very nice and the service was good even though it was just us and another family in the whole place. The view of the lake was nice and so was the layout of the restaurant. Overall I would say our experience was mediocre to poor and I would not go again, but it's not the worst place in the world for a last minute choice. read more
