Review of the boat slip Provincetown
    John P.

I have been coming to Ptown for 35 years What a rip off the boat slip happy hour has become. $5 entrance fee And when I order s cocktail -- $7 Give me a decent size glass please (plastic)---/ ----And a decent shot of vodka I doubt I will ever return. And if I do I order a beer at least I'll get that in a can.

    Enjoying drinks and the view.

Wequassett has been for many years among the best properties I go to in the US (or internationally…read morefor that matter). Every single time we visited, the service has been impeccable and I find it hard to think about any other resort that can get even close to Wequassett. The grounds are perfectly kept and the rooms have been recently renovated. And although, there's a trend even with classic high-end resorts (St. Regis, J.W., Ritz-Carlton) to make their renovations a little too modern for my taste, Wequassett successfully kept their old school charm. We always stay at their Signature Water View King rooms (and book well in advance as there's only a few of these) so I can't speak of other room types. The amenities are flawless and even though the main pool gets VERY crowded during summer weekends, the pool attendant always found 2 chairs for us. My only recommendation for this property is to have a backup plan for the main pool. Perhaps installing a deck and adding some more chairs there to accommodate more guests that prefer the beach vs. the pool.

Sincerely the best of any resort we've stayed at -Genuinely friendly staff -The cleaning crew was phenomenal and didn't miss a spot The not-so-good: -Paper thin walls. We were woken up multiple nights because the upstairs guests were walking around. Yes, plain footsteps - not even stomping - were very audible. For close to 1k a night, this shouldnt have happened. My cheap grad school duplex apartment didn't even have walls this thin! -Friction prevented us from giving the resort more money. There's room service but no menu in the room and it wasn't easily found online either. And we were so ready to drop a good amount of money on poolside drinks and food but nobody waited on us both times we were at the pool. (They did happen to wait on the social media star who was present, which was very obvious, and we made eye contact with another family who shrugged because they hadn't been waited on either.) And finally the coffee shop closed at noon. We would have happily patronized the shop for a treat and a coffee and were disappointed to find it closed so early. -Our perception was that there was nothing going on at the Wequassett. We stayed in June (and received the May newsletter; perhaps that would've given us more info if we had the correct one?) We had expected the poolside bar to be open. Maybe some live music. Smores for the kids by the fire (we would've purchased this.) So many opportunities for improvement! We stayed at the cliff house in Maine last year and there was a number displayed around the resort that you could text and they'd send a message with info about was going on at the hotel that week! Such a memorable touch - Wequasset could consider something like this. All in all, not awful, but not blow-your-socks-off fantastic, either. Just plain average in the realm of resorts.

BED BUG NIGHTMARE - Health Risk, Hours of Cleanup, and Management That Doesn't Care…read more On our second night at this hotel, we discovered the unthinkable: bed bugs in our room -- confirmed by urgent care. We immediately alerted the front desk, only to be told to "send an email." No urgency. No concern. Staff admitted they had no authority to help, and the manager was nowhere to be found. They moved us to the room right next door, and then -- unbelievably -- proceeded to fumigate the infested room while we were next to it. We spent seven exhausting hours doing laundry, sanitizing every surface, and trying to make sure we didn't take the infestation home with us. After multiple attempts to reach the manager, we finally heard back two days later. Her response? There was "nothing she could do" beyond offering us quarters for the laundry and to cover our urgent care copay. No refund. No real apology. No accountability. We found clear evidence of bed bugs between the sheets and mattress. It was disgusting, traumatic, and completely avoidable. But even worse than the infestation itself was the total failure of management to take responsibility or make this right. This used to be one of my favorite places to stay. But now, after being treated like this during a health crisis, I can't believe how little they cared. If you value your health, peace of mind, or even basic human decency -- do not stay here.

Only real negative I found were the beds. A bit to soft for me and should be replaced. Parking is plentiful in front of the hotel and more across the street in their other lot. Hotel sits right on their private beach with Red Jacket sister hotels along side. Plenty of beach loungers, towels and umbrellas. Attendants take care of everything. Very nice clean beach so take a nice walk. The pool area is nice with a bar and food close by. The staff is very attentive and friendly. We were having such a nice time we added another day to our vacation. Price for the room is reasonable for the Cape. We booked the "beach front" 1 bed 1 sofa bed room. In the pictures online it looked like our room had a door for the bedroom for privacy. NOPE! It was 100% open and the main bed was directly in the mini kitchen area. So that meant no privacy from our kids. There's no toaster or a microwave but there's a stove that can boil water in seconds. Since there's no rugs and no small area rugs, the floor gets incredibly sandy. I would recommend bringing a broom or swiffer.

The drive to Plumb Island through Newburyport was the perfect introduction to our romantic, north shore getaway. Being from Phoenix, we look forward to our cold, winter adventure each year and neither of us had been anywhere north of Boston before. Before our arrival, communication with the Blue was informative and hand a personal feel. Obviously, the Blue caters to summer beach-goers, and the reserved parking area near the hotel would definitely be a huge plus for folks competing for parking spots, but in winter, there are very few people or cars on the entire island. The Blue is a quaint little hotel nestled on the beach in a neighborhood of New England beach homes. We were happily greeted at the front desk by Blue staff and the General Manager. They tendered to our every need and surprised us with a fabulous fruit and chocolate anniversary gift waiting for us in the room. The room was beautiful with a classic and modern beach feel. Sliding glass doors open up to a wooden deck with a fabulous view of the Atlantic Ocean. We could hear the crashing waves while sitting inside beside the gas fireplace to read. It was magical! Also magical was the bed! We haven't slept that well in years! The bed was so comfortable and my wife loved the pillows so much that she bought the very same ones for home the day we returned. And don't forget the two hot tubs! There is nothing quite as enjoyable as relaxing in a steaming, bubbling hot tub while it's snowing all around you. Honestly, the "hot tubs available" filter was probably what highlighted the Blue to me during my search for this trip. One hot tub is on the second floor deck, overlooking the beach and the second is hidden under the pine trees at the end of a short sidewalk across the street from the main building. Both were large enough for probably 6 people, clean and well maintained. Again, it was February so we had them all to our crazy selves the whole week. The beach is beautiful! There is direct, private access from the second floor of the Blue, via a wooden boardwalk. The beach is sandy with very few rocks. I didn't see any seaweed or anything washing up on shore, but it was February, so I didn't expect to see a whole lot of anything living coming out of the water. Every morning we enjoyed a beautiful sunrise over the ocean while we drank some local coffee delivered direct to the room. Oh yeah, breakfast! Each morning the staff dropped off and adorable wicker basket with fresh, local breakfast offerings plus that wonderful carafe of coffee. We had different breakfast each day, to include quiche, overnight oats, fresh fruit, biscuits, and bacon. Just the right amount for the two of us and we couldn't wait to see what breakfast surprise would arrive each morning. Although Plumb Island may feel remote from the business of the Boston-metro area, the location was great for dipping down to Salem without hitting any traffic, or popping up to New Hampshire for a sleighride through the forest. One morning, after a small nor'easter blew through, our SUV got stuck in the parking lot snow. No worries! The General Manager of the Blue came out to hail down a plow and personally helped push us out. Now that's service! Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Blue -Inn on the Beach to anyone looking for a romantic beach getaway. If you're looking for a less Metropolitan vacation with the proximity to get to Boston in under an hour, the Blue can't be beat. We will definitely be coming back. Maybe even in the summer next time!

We waited about 25 minutes to be sat for lunch at the restaurant in the hotel and they were so understaffed it took a while just to get waters. I got the steak tacos for lunch though and those were literally to die for I've been dreaming of them since. The pools were overrun by teenagers not being watched by their parents because all the parents were in the bar line or just not paying attention, felt bad for the lifeguards who kept having to literally yell at them and blow their whistles while they continued to not listen. At around 11/11:30PM I ended up in the hallway confronting a group of teenage girls who were literally screaming their heads off for whatever reason, I was trying to get my toddlers to bed and they wouldn't sleep because the girls in the adjoining room were just such a nuisance. However after telling them if they didn't keep it down I was calling security and their parents (who no surprise were at the bar), they kept it quiet the rest of the night. So overall we had a good time, room was nice and comfy, pool area overall was great aside from insane teens and drunk parents. Probably won't be back again anytime soon though.

What could be wrong, you ask. Well how about the fact that it was a nonstop weird sales pitch to try to get us to buy a time share. Let me back up. On check in, we were greeted by an unfriendly guy who clearly hates his job, and we were told to wear red elastics so we could be identified as guests when we were in the pool, etc. If we didn't return these elastics at the end of our stay, we would be charged $5 per elastic. For $5, I could buy a bag of red elastics and hand them out all over town. So anyway, right off the bat we were treated like children who couldn't be trusted. We were also given a piece of paper to put on the dashboard to prove we could park there. It wasn't enough to give our license plate and make and model of the car. And the rules continued. Rules upon rules. Only one beach towel per person per day. If you don't return the beach towel, you'll be charged for it. Cheap bastards! Nice resorts have piles of towels available for guest usage, but sure, I'll dry myself off after exiting the pool and then carry a damp towel around for the rest of the day. The pool rules were excessive as well. No diving, no running, no glass, no food, no fun. I mean, I get it, you don't want people to get hurt because you're liable. But then why have us sign a lengthy waiver form on check in? I get the need for rules, but the sign to the pool area was just a big list of don'ts. There was no restaurant, no bar, and no beach chairs to use. The private beach was about 20 feet of sand with fences on both sides and big signs with more rules. No trespassing! No running on the stairs to the beach. Etc. But what really takes the cake is the activities room where three desks are located. We went in on our first morning and were looking around - couch, tv, glass windows showing the patio area - when suddenly a guy behind the desk catches sight of me and my husband, and says "Sir? Excuse me sir?" And proceeds to ask if we will take 10 minutes to listen to a pitch about buying a time share. I think his name was Walter and not only was he sexist and rude, but pushy as hell. We said no thanks, we weren't interested in a time share but he wouldn't take no for an answer. He kept trying to convince us and said "all of our owners are very happy!" Maybe so Walter, because they have all drunk the koolaid at ocean cult on smugglers beach. Time shares are scammy and if we ever wanted to consider one, we would not pick a place with no restaurant, limited towels, sexist staff, and rules against fun. Really, this place has some nerve. It was basically a more expensive motel 6. My husband returned to the room to grab something, and found the room phone ringing. Wouldn't you know, it was Walter calling, wanting to know if we had heard the good news. My husband told him, again, no thank you, we don't want a time share. And that was the extent of our stay. It made me feel gross and in need of a shower. This place has potential. Get a restaurant onsite, or at least a bar. Heat the pool maybe. Provide beach chairs and more than one towel. Fire Walter. Be polite to your guests. Be welcoming, stop charging ridiculous fees. Ice cream socials are a cute idea, but don't charge $5 each for a bowl of Hood ice cream (yes I asked where it was from. What a great opportunity to support a local business. Nope.) It's great that they have movies you can borrow and crafts you can partake in (for a fee). But nothing could make up for the way we were treated and the things this place is lacking. We won't be back Ocean Cult. And we definitely won't be purchasing a time scam.
