Cape View Motel - "water view"

    Cape View Motel

(PLEASE READ ENTIRE REVIEW)…read more Staff: 5 stars Motel: 1 star My expectations were off, so I want to make sure future travelers are not confused. Despite costing over $200-250/night and boasting "spectacular views" of the bay, this is not a decent motel, nor are the views spectacular (or even acceptable, given the website description). If you're on the second floor, you DO have a view of a fence, some AC units, neighboring trees, and the bay in the far, far distance if you stand in the corner of the porch and squint (see photos). Other rooms have views of the concrete parking lot. Please note that you can book an *entire cottage* in Truro/Wellfleet on the water for the SAME PRICE. Cape View is a run-down motel on a busy street with trucks rattling by all night. The appliances are ancient, the floors and furniture are at a 45-degree angle so things roll off tables, the paint is cracked and peeling (photo), the ceiling is wavy - looks like the roof may be leaking?? - and our door handle was falling off the door. Folks are permitted to smoke on the back patios, so our room often reeked of cigarettes. There are no table lamps, just fluorescent overhead bulbs. The deluxe and kitchenette rooms are handy, but somehow the owners of the Cape View Motel haven't heard of the climate crisis: you'd think they'd have some actual mugs, plates, and silverware rather than just disposable plastic crap. We're 2.5 years into the pandemic, kids. The planet is on fire. It's 2022, won't you please join us?? The worst part is their refund policy. When you show up and discover that the motel doesn't look anything like the photos - that there is no "spectacular view" as advertised - that nothing is new, modern, or pristine, as advertised - that the street noise sucks - that the pool looks nothing like the website pics - you are simply SOL, because the owners have decided that there are *no refunds* once you've seen the crappy rooms. Since their refund policy is buried on the website, I include it here: "Cancellations received 20 days prior to arrival and up to 3 days prior will be charged the full amount of the deposit. Any cancelations within 3 days of arrival will be charged the full cost of the reservation." THAT SAID, the staff here is amazing. The woman who gave us our keys when we arrived greeted us warmly and was always lovely to be around. She sent confirmation emails, gave us info about local restaurants and beaches, and was available for all questions. The staff dealt with every issue quickly, professionally, and kindly. The owners are incredibly lucky to have this staff, as they are the saving grace of this place. This review would be much worse without them. TL/DR: Cape View is a shabby roadside motel on a busy street with no views to speak of, priced well above what it's worth. The staff is amazing as is Customer Service, but I highly recommend renting a cottage or an Airbnb instead.

The next two nights I was in a queen size efficiency, and it felt much better to be in there. It had more windows and space plus basic kitchen supplies. I appreciate that this motel was across the street from the shuttle to Provincetown and that you could walk to the beach. The staff was very helpful. I didn't spend too much time at the private beach, but I did enjoy eating meals out there and looking at the view. My only criticism is that the hot tub/pool seemed like it needed cleaning. I'm embarrassed for Sally who wrote a comment here. She seems very hateful.

This is a motor inn on the Cape.... Every place I've ever stayed down here is a bit outdated. I think the people Who write these bad reviews were just pissed about the loud neighbors and the low seats that are eye level to the wooden balcony. Just stand up and you can see the ocean view? Lol. I love It here the hot tub and pool is awesome and they redid the pool room. The AC runs pretty good. Showers are old but who really cares.. I'm here to have a good time and enjoy the beaches, not here to take a fancy shower. Beds are big and comfy. Staff is nice and keeps out of your way. The owner has always been super nice and helpful.

What a lovely hotel! I stayed here w my daughter for a girls getaway, Mon-wed. We booked a room w…read moreno ocean view but was happy to be upgraded to a room w ocean views. The hotel was fairly quiet not crowded this first week in June. And all adults which was refreshing. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The continental breakfast was perfect, fresh red grapefruits, good quality breads for toasting, hard boiled eggs, assorted juices and coffee, they even had almond milk, fresh bananas, cereals, I loved the unsweetened greek yogurt, peanut butter and spreads. All well done and clean dining area w pretty views. We played tennis on the hard court which was fun, they had racquets and balls but they could use a fresh can of tennis balls. The water pressure in the shower was somewhat low but manageable. The views from the room are beautiful and we caught an amazing sunset right outside our back porch. The location was perfect, just 5 miles from Ptown and many beaches close by. Great time of year because we didn't have to pay beach parking fees. The pool was beautiful too, u can see the ocean from the pool, but u can't walk to the beach, the highway is there. I wish the pool was heated, otherwise it's quite nice. The beds were comfortable not too firm or soft, just right, but the pillows almost too big and puffy. I always bring my own pillow so I was fine. Complimentary take home slippers was a surprise. There were pool towels and bag if you forgot your own. Overall a great stay and I would definitely return and recommend!
