Ok folks, or should I say down home country folks. LOL. So staying at the Moxy hotel which is a few doors down from this amazing place. Good thing as the spirts they serve will keep you wanting more and more. So if you have to stumble back to your hotel, it's better that it's only a 3 Doors Down, (RIP, Brad Arnold) live local music makes this place an even draw than what I first thought. Came for a yelp! tasting and tour event after walking by this place a million times Im glad I finally was able to experience the place. We started out on the second floor, which overlooks the giant copper still and tasting room and had a cocktail made with bourbon from their collection. Next, we headed downstairs to the tasting room where we were guided through a tasting of bourbon small batch, bourbon, blood orange vodka, and spiced rum. Big Machine Distillery & Tavern is a gem. As a Californian who visits Nashville often, I can tell you their spirits are world-class especially the vodka. What really sets this downtown location apart, though, is the hospitality. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and safe, which I really appreciated as a solo traveler. They have a great setup where you can bring in food from the nearby food trucks to enjoy with your drinks. I'm already looking forward to my next trip (and my next bottle haul!). read more

This was one of the coolest experiences we have done while traveling. We got a great education on bourbon, got to identify our likes and dislikes, and then got to do several blends to ultimately make a blend of exactly what we each liked best to take home. We were so happy that we bought an extra bottle. Our Taste Guide, Jim, was so very knowledgeable and patient, with lots of great stories. We hated to leave and cannot wait to get back. Shout out to Penny the support pup for continuing to check on us during our time in the tasting room. The bartender, a Nashville born unicorn started our visit off right. The vibe was perfectly laid back and exactly the start we needed for our Nashville weekend. This was our favorite stop during our Nashville weekend! We are in our late 40s, so kind of over the Broadway scene. It was the perfect spot to have a few drinks and be able to hear each other (also, great people watching outside their windows). Great vodka drinks, excellent old-fashioned with a bunch of options for whiskey. The flight was pretty cool too. I'm not a fan of whiskey, but my husband is and he really enjoyed it. Just wish they had food or something to munch on. That was my only "complaint." The music was great and at the right volume. We actually came back twice in one day - once in the afternoon and once when we came back out at night because we liked it so much. We joined the Big Machine Brewery & Distillery for their "Blend Your Own Bourbon" class. As a surprise for my husband's birthday, I knew immediately that I'd chosen the right place when we walked off the busy Downtown Nashville street and what felt like back in time!! The ambiance of the place was amazing: cool, classy, and exactly what I was hoping for. The music was even perfect--not blow your ears out country, but soulful. Gruff. Low key. Like my husband. It went well with his glass of bourbon, he said, which he enjoyed while we waited for the class to begin. The class was led by a very knowledgeable, capable, friendly guy named Jim, who immediately came to our table upon hearing this was a surprise for my husband. Jim not only led the class in an exceptional experience, but thanks to his expert guidance, we walked out with not one, but TWO bottles of amazingly different flavored bourbons! My husband has already asked if we can do this for his birthday every year, lol. Whether you're visiting Nashville from out of town or are just coming for a night on the town, I cannot recommend the "Blend Your Own Bourbon" class--and Jim, our fantastic guide--enough. We stopped in here to take a break from the loud music. Surprised to see they offered a whiskey flight to sample their own whiskey. They make their whiskey from locally sourced grains so not just some sourced whiskey with a new label. I wasn't real found if the whiskey but it definitely had a unique taste that you may love. They had a few limited addition bottles available to taste for $100 a pour and a special edition for $20 a pour that is $500 a bottle. Big machine brewery and distillery has become one of my favorite spots when in Nashville. It is located right off of Broadway has great unique cocktails and drinks, and always has live music. You can walk their entire facility in which they make their own delicious spirits. I absolutely love the fun frozen drink options they have as it sets them apart from most spots in Nashville. They have some typical bar food menu options as well. Their frozen vodka lemonade is delicious and they can add any flavor you want to it (strawberry, watermelon, etc.). This time we tried the cookies n cream bushwacker which was delicious a straight up milkshake infused with alcohol. After visiting a spot across the street we wandered over as we were intrigued by the distillery sign. This is a business that is local to Nashville and makes their own spirits. They had a small ground floor with bar and a few tables that looks into a small distillery operation. They offer whiskey flights which my partner tried and I grabbed a seasonal drink which was really good. Bartender was nice. Musician playing was good. Just a single guy with a more acoustic vibe. They have a small upstairs that you walk through to get to the bathrooms and you can overlook the distillery space. I think it had a couch or two and a few barstools. I would definitely check this place out as a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the honky tonks. read more

Very much enjoyed their explanation of their unique distillation column and the opportunity to taste a variety of their products ranging from vodka to gin to whiskey. We signed up for the tour, we walk in and the tour guy goes are you looking for the bathroom.We are group of girls, we say no and he turns to the whole group of guys and says "Oh boy". During the whole tour, he only spoke to the men of the group and ignored us. He made a joke during the tour saying "women belonged in the kitchen" and laughed. The most disrespectful tour guide with the biggest ego. Save your money and go to a different tour or bar. The singer downstairs was so loud you couldn't even hear what he was saying about the process of the liquor. Don't bother coming here. Biggest waste of time. read more

When most people think of Big Machine, they most likely think of artists like Rascal Flatts, Sheryl Crow, and many others, who would have guessed they are in the vodka business. There are some distinguishable differences that make this joint stand out from the rest down the street, personality and the room that houses the quaint and picturesque micro-distillery. The staff are all great to talk to, even the door staff. The vodka tour is a good experience and an opportunity to sample a lot of vodka and although I am not a vodka drinker, I was impressed. This is definitely one of the better places you can up at along Broadway, stop in and set a spell, just don't bring up the topic of Taylor Swift. Cheers! read more

We were greeted by the front door girl who was in bright pink with glittery eyeshadow & super peppy, which set the mood- she seemed genuinely happy to be at work checking id's, which I loved. We sat at the downstairs bar where they had live music. We ordered drinks and wanted some small bites, but they said we had to order food upstairs. My girlfriend went upstairs while I ordered our drinks. We enjoyed ourselves a lot- the love music was taking requests and they sounded great. I got a mojito and my girlfriend got a whiskey Moscow mule. They have many sizes of mules you can order- one that needs a minimum of 4 people to order (it's $80). We would definitely be back, and we loved that it was as crowded as all the other bars we walked past. Upstairs was a bit busier than downstairs. read more

I recently purchased a bottle of the borchette bourbon from Big Machine Distillery in Nashville. I went directly to the distillary after ordering one online because every one was telling me that they would not ship in the state of tennessee. I returned home and 3 days later I received a bottle from the distillery from UPS. I have contacted them via email and they will not return my emails. I asked at the distillary if they could do a return there and they said to respond to the email I received to confirm my purchase which I did. Now I have 2 bottles of expensive bourbon and I only need one. They do not return emails! read more
