The food was okay and nothing special at all. I ordered the BLT and the kids cheeseburger. The burger was nothing out of the ordinary the fries were very bland. The bacon in the BLT was very greasy. Overall not the best the waitresses were nice though. read more

Three of the four band members kept a cig smokin all night. Surprise their lungs could project a sound. Pretty good sound from their cords though. Plan on dropping your clothes at the door when you get home. Not a bad idea anyway....have her drop hers as well. Great wild bunch a patrons on a Tuesday night. A mix of locals and a couple Canadians. Two gals without their hubbies kept feelin asses. Working on requests and good at it They never took a break all night. 5 stars for the band! As a tourist from up north, this is the dirtiest, most redneck place I've ever seen. The entire bar smelled of smoke-- the server was smoking cigarettes while taking an order! It was dark, and the decor looked straight out of a horror film. You know the ones; where mutant rednecks skin people alive or something. Scary. The staff was obnoxiously loud and rowdy (banging some metal thing on the ceiling). On top of that, they only had TWO drink options: mystery light beer (they failed to mention the brand) and white boxed wine. So I drank white boxed wine... that was very water down... in a beer mug... with ice. read more

Probably the strangest bar experience I have ever had! Came in and walked up to the bar to order a drink. The bartender (very rudely) stated that I couldn't order where I was standing. I asked where I was permitted to order. She pointed two feet down from where I was standing. So I scooted over a couple of feet. We asked if we could see a drink list. She told us they have one wine and one beer. My friend ordered the beer and tasted it. She discreetly told me that it tasted like water so I ordered the wine. They served the boxed wine in a beer glass with ice and a straw! Since it was a beautiful night we took our drinks outside and stood by the railing. A gruffy looking bouncer came up and rudely stated that we weren't allowed to stand up outside. We went inside. There was a lively band and started swaying to their music. Not even full on dancing. Another employee came up to us and told us that we were not permitted to dance! At a BAR! Where there was a BAND! At this point it was just becoming hilarious. While I will never go back to this establishment at least it made for a funny story to tell! We couldn't figure out if we were at a bar or a confederate church camp! read more

If you are looking for a Saloon on the boardwalk, you found it! Cash only (with ATM inside), beer only pub with live music. We found the resident band, The Bounty Hunters, great guys!!! Beer is good and cheap (we had 4 per person) Bartender and waiters are nice and friendly. Bathrooms are clean. The place is completely Country Western themed. We will be back. read more

It ain't the food, and it ain't the beer, it's the EXPERIENCE that gets 4 stars from me! First of all the Bowery doesn't serve food. Food is served at the restaurant next door named Duffys at The Bowery. When my wife and I visited on a Monday night we had already eaten, so we can't make any judgments on the food. The Bowery only serves 4 things; beer, wine, cola and water. The bartender made that pretty clear and my wife picked up on that right away. I'm not the most attentive person to details in the world so I ordered a Coors Light for her and a Budweiser for me. The puzzled look on the bartender's face puzzled me, but I finally figured it out- there are only two choices of beer here: take it or leave it. The beer is an un-named unknown brand, and to me it wasn't really all that good. But it's the experience that makes a visit to the Bowery worthwhile. Lee Travis & The Bounty Hunters pay here 6 nights a week and are very good and very entertaining, combining a mix of requested songs with country classics, honky-tonk, new country, and rock-n-roll. Just So You Know: * $3 cover charge to get through the door. * They'll tell you that they don't get paid to work there, so they often mention the tip jar, and even bring around a tip bucket a couple of times during the night. We didn't mind that, everybody needs to make a living, the entertainment of the band and watching the crowd was worth it. * Our only real complaint seems somewhat petty, but others have mentioned it too: the VERY annoying harsh metallic banging sound frequently all night long. There's a pitcher hanging from a chain over the bar and far as I can tell, the bartenders whack this with a bat to signal the servers that a drink order is ready for pickup. read more

My sister and I were walking the boardwalk trying to find a place to eat supper. We came around the rear of the building and when we turned the corner we could hear some excellent honkey tonk music playing. We decided that we had to check it out. Walked in ordered a couple of brews and forgot completely about finding a place to eat! Instead we drank dinner and enjoyed the show The Bounty Hunters put on! We had a kick ass time and went back the next 2 nights before we had to head back home to Cincinnati. I can't wait to go back to Myrtle Beach and visit The Bowery and listen to The Bounty Hunters. The fact they open before everyone else is one of the biggest plusses. Most open at 12 and we decided to eat at 1130. For a party of 12 that can be a challenge; not for these guys. Went there late afternoon looking for a good happy hour. Staff was disengaged, not very friendly. To be honest, they all seemed whacked on something.
