This place should not be missed if you are in Langly. I went there twice on our weekend excursion because once was not enough for me. The first time I had the grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. But this was no ordinary grilled cheese, this sandwich was made with raisin bread.... what?! Crazy but so good! Creamy, gooey cheese with a bit of sweetness from the bread. Delightful! We came back for brunch the next day. It was packed and we had to wait for awhile but that's expected for good brunch spots. They have a strawberry rhubarb bread that is to die for and again my meal was awesome & unique. If you are looking for a place with good, classic food with a creative touch, this the place for you. My wife and I came to Whidbey Island for a weekend getaway at a friend's house, who recommended this place. We were only on the island for a weekend but ended up coming here twice. Everything is nice about this place -- charming area, friendly and kind staff, and the food is very delicious, with some very unique items. I particularly loved the seared oats. If you are an oatmeal lover you will love this. It was warm, with almost a grilled taste and was topped with yummy cinnamon apples and a cream sauce. My wife enjoyed the tuna melt with caesar salad. my wife got the burger and I got the mash the burger was excellent says my wife I thought the mash was OK, there wasn't much corned beef and the way ti combined with the cheese was not exciting. I am glad I tried it but I still prefer the usual way of making corned beef hash I also thought $15 for the mash was too much for the amount of beef it had. read more

Unfortunately, I wasn't super impressed with this place. There was only one lady running basically everything- serving food, collecting the bill, seating people, answering the phone, etc and you could tell she was very stressed out, and therefore wasn't necessarily being the nicest. But I get that it was from lack of help and not anything on purpose. The main reason I gave 2 stars was the food, it really wasn't very good. I probably wouldn't come back. So charming and cozy!!! we ate here twice for dinner during our stay on the island. The food is delicious, portions are generous, and the staff is all super friendly and welcoming. Excellent cocktails from the bar too, we had 2 variations of a hot spiced apple cider that were amazing ( among several other mescal cocktails). The chef here is young, energetic, talented, and creative. They do everything in house on site. Be prepared to be wowed, my girlfriend and I can't wait to go back. We stopped by this place a few days ago during a weekend getaway. Covid atmosphere: ample covered outdoor seating with heat lamps, limited indoor seating. Staff all wearing masks. Food: we had fried muscles as an appetizer which were incredible. My partner had the fried chicken sandwich and fries which were good and satisfying, but not necessarily anything special. I had the three digit grilled cheese which is a sharp white cheese and bacon on three slices of cinnamon raisin bread. Well I appreciate the juxtaposition of sweet and salty, the flavors became overwhelming about halfway through. I probably would not order again. we went on a Saturday and it was quite busy. -- some one came up and said the hostess will be with you in a while --- when the the same person came up minuets later he said you can sit in side if you want ---we repeated and asked if there was a table open on the patio--- the host /server said i dont know let me look-- he came back and said there is a table out there but i have to clean it ----okay thank you------- when we were seated out side there were 3 clean tables to be sat at and we were sat in the only one in full sun----- this is okay as i like sun but not so much the hub=== while we were debating about leaving we saw-- a customer ask again for ice for his drink and someone send their food back at it was prepared wrong-- and a third table ask again if they could please have their bill --we decided to stay since we had driven over 4 hours and needed to eat and the pizza place was on a hour wait-- i asked what ipa they had on tap and again the server -who moments ago was the host said -- let me go look i dont know --- seems to me you should know your menu-- maybe its me??- we decided to stay-- i had a Caesar salad and the hub the Cuban sandwich -- it seemed to me we had top rated ingredients thrown together by the 3rd string team--- my husbands sandwich wasn't event pressed and toasted in the manner of a Cuban -- yes it had been hit with a press for seconds and in fact was soggy-- and poorly made-- it had a scoop of potato salad about a 1/2 of cup maybe and then it had half of it removed == i had the Caesar salad and in it was micro greens and spinach mixed into my salad-- not life or death but certainly cross contamination --- i have to say again the ingredients and the menu were top notch-- the people working were not. "The Mash" is - supposedly- a corned beef hash but I only found one little sliver of corned beef that looked like it could have been from a lunch meat pkg at a grocery store, but it was too small to know for sure. The waitress wasn't very attentive, only coming back to our table to remove plates, but I'll chalk that up to COVID. Sigh. They have been MUCH better in the past. As with many restaurants, due to staffing shortages, due to wait times can be longer than normal. The wait is worth it! It was super busy and the wait was long (especially bc of our group size, so that was expected), but they did their best as fast as they could to sit as all in a corner together! I got the chicken roulade special and it tasted fresh, was cooked perfectly, and had a great presentation. Just picked up a piping hot bowl of clam chowder from The Braeburn in Langley, WA. Not only is this one of the best clam chowders I've had, but it's also gluten free! Being celiac, the only other place I have had gluten free chowder in the past several years was at a restaurant in Seaside, Oregon. So, this was indeed a treat! The Braeburn even included gluten free toast for dipping! The chowder has just right amount of large chopped clams, and chunks of potatoes with the skin still attached. It's not overly starchy, with just the right amount of creamy broth. Oh my goodnesss - what a spot for brunch! A group of friends and I came to the Braeburn on a Saturday morning around 10:30 and were seated within 10 minutes. Expecting a long wait, we were pleasantly surprised! The ambiance and vibes of this place are very homey and cute. It's an excellent spot for a casual brunch. Our group ordered the Huevos Rancheros, Eggs Benedict, Stuffed French Toast, just to name a few. Each of the meals were tasty and delicious with hearty portions. The French Toast was absolutely to die for. We split it among our group simply because it was so rich and filling. It might be too sweet and overwhelming as a main breakfast item, but it was incredible to share. A family run place for sure with farm style decorations inside with a twist of artistic feels. However, the place didn't feel very clean. Anyways, we ordered 3 different things Weekend Brunch Special - Egg benedict's with crab meat (4/5) : This was the best out of the 3. The egg benedict's were made perfect, the yolk runny and all and everything on the plate complemented each other perfectly. Th crab meat was a lot, maybe it was canned... not quite sure. Steak and Eggs (1.5/5) : Eh, what a disappointment. Steak was harder than beef jerky. Potatoes were burnt as heck with wayyy too much seasoning on it. Maybe cause it wasn't what they usually specialize in, but the dish was unacceptable. Just left the steak alone and ate the eggs. Pesto Chicken Sandwich with apple coleslaw (2.5/5) : The sandwich was good but the bread wasn't really toasted which made it less appetizing. Coleslaw had no taste to it at all.
