First and LAST time I'd come here. Disgusting doesn't begin to describe this 'food'. My waitress was basically on roller skates, she just dropped things as she rolled by. My fried chicken was so fried you couldn't chew it, and I think it was 20 years ago that the oil was changed. So to anyone driving on 30, please just keep driving because this place will only make you wish you didnt have taste buds. Mmm the taste of burnt, old grease, nothing like it. Avoid this place and go somewhere else. The food was just very mediocre. The turkey dinner turkey was very dry and grainy. The "filling" was just mushy bread. The gravy was the usual over salty yellow glop. They left off the cranberries. The vegetable sides - brussel sprouts were just steamed nasty old grandma brussels. We usually enjoy our visits here and the wait staff are friendly but at breakfast this morning we were seated in a booth next to another filled booth. I thought they were to be spaced. Also our waitress refused to pull up her mask. Made a great chin cover. When my husband said something to another waitress she said something to our waitress and she purposely did not wear it back to our table. If the health department would stop in or a patron contract Covid this would be one of the places to check. It's sad because they were doing so well. I am finishing my lunch as I write this. It is my first time eating here. This restaurant is just past where US route 30 reverts to a regular highway from an expressway coming from the East (eg Philly area). I had haddock in a creole sauce, my wife had chicken souvlaki. Both were GREAT. The fish, a strange dish for the PA "Dutch" area, was perfectly done and FRESH! Two entries, 3 sides & coffee all for less than $20 with wonderful service. First of all I had no idea this was an "INN". My receipt was for the Brass Eagle Restaurant. And that is what I was looking for on Yelp. Since this listing is already here, I'm not going to change it. I went with friends because it is going to be our new halfway meeting place. Perhaps we hit it on a good day? Perhaps we were having such a good time, enjoying our own company, oblivious of everything else, that I am giving it 4 stars???? Nope. The place was clean, our server was pleasant, efficient and left us alone when we extended our stay beyond lunch. My friend wanted the chicken salad sandwich, but I reminded her about the last chicken salad sandwich she had at the last place we ate at. She looked at me with one raised eyebrow. And I said, don't you remember? It basically was mayonnaise with some chicken thrown in. Hmmmm. So when the waitress came to take our orders, we asked how much mayonnaise was in their chicken salad, the waitress asked us if we wanted a sample taste before we ordered? My eyes nearly popped out. I had never heard such a thing. Of course we wanted a taste. She came out with a little cup full of chicken salad and all three of us agreed it was fabulous. One of us got the sandwich and the other-(who was going to get the shrimp salad- changed hers to the chicken. What a nice gesture to offer the sample. I had the crab cake sandwich with a Kaiser roll. The crab cake was delicious. Though I'm not sure if they understand what a Kaiser roll actually is. I'll skip the roll part next time. I didn't know it, but the plate came with a huge portion of fries. So did the other sandwich. We were too full for dessert. All three of us have already decided we are going back here. Oh, there are two parts to the restaurant. One is the big open room with the bar portion, and then they have a separate smaller room off to the side. It is much quieter there. read more

Looks like a restaurant but when you look at the menu you realize you're at a diner. Food was ok, my husband had the meatloaf which he said was good. I had the Greek spinach pie, it was ok, I've had better. The garlic bread was a soggy mess. Salads were fresh, baked potatoes were hot and cooked right. Because the place was so nice, I didn't realize until after I ordered it was a diner and not a restaurant. I might have ordered a sandwich instead. We were so disappointed by the food. My 2 year wouldn't even eat his ravioli. My haddock was extremely dry and our seafood sampler app wasn't good. However my husband thought his Alfredo was pretty decent. We have friends that love this place, so we go occasionally, just to be with them. Lots of tables, so it's pretty quick getting seated. Service is what I would call average, but the food definitely leaves something to be desired. Most of the food we've had there is bland and over cooked. I've had the turkey club, and it was so dry, I almost choked on it. The chicken cheesesteak has no flavor. Without the au jus, the roast beef would be inedible. Open face roast beef is terrible. At breakfast, eggs over easy turn out over medium, and home fries are dry and bland. About 10 minutes away, on 340, is the White Horse Luncheonette. Smaller, sometimes a bit of a wait, but never had a bad meal there. read more

Used to love this place but as of late it's also slipping. The portion sizes of our favorite dishes are getting smaller and smaller and they don't seem to care about the quality of food they put out for take out at all anymore. First of all this is not called "Brass Eagle Inn", it is called "Brass Eagle Restaurant" or "Brass Eagle Restaurant and Sports Bar" as they have a sports bar in the rear of the restaurant (they may have another one on a lower level but we didn't go down there). Second, this business has several web pages, review pages and social media pages and none of them seem to reflect the correct (posted) hours for the restaurant so I suggest if you are planning to go in the morning or in the evening past 7 pm you call to find out their hours on the day, until somebody gets the correct business hours up. We decided to stop on a Sunday night as we have passed the place several times driving between Dub C and Lancaster and thought it looked like a possibility for a quick meal. According to the websites, the restaurant and sports bar were supposed to be open until at least 10 or 11 pm (some of them said the bar would go till 2 am). When we arrived we found the upstairs sports bar completely empty/ dead/ closed and the restaurant was closing at 9 pm. As it was only 7:45 pm we figured that was still enough time for us to eat so in we went. Although a couple tables were in there finishing meals, the (mostly very young) wait staff appeared to be already getting ready to close up although it was over an hour before the posted closing time, and the hostess seemed none too thrilled to see us (threw our menus on a table), but then two more tables of folks walked in right after us. My husband then tried to order a cup of coffee (a diner staple) only to be told by the wait staff that they "had just thrown the coffee out", despite its being over an hour to close. He changed it to iced tea instead. I ordered a bowl of the homemade soup (lobster bisque) and my husband ordered the daily special which was a hamburger steak in gravy. I also ordered a piece of apple pie and ice cream. Our waitress (very young, blonde ponytail) was very nice, food came quickly and she checked up on us several times throughout the quick meal. The soup was very good, and I tried my husband's side dish of potato salad and it was also very good. His hamburger steak was not to my taste but he liked it and it didn't seem bad, just not what I would order. The ice cream was decent but the pie was some sort of caramelized apple tart that had obviously been sitting in a refrigerator and not warmed, and it was cold and very rubbery. We overheard a weird encounter between the couple with two young children eating next to us, and the waitress (different person from our own waitress). This place being a bar they kind of push having a drink with your dinner. Apparently the man had ordered a drink with his meal and then partway through the meal tried to order a second drink, only to be loudly lectured by the very young waitress along the lines of "who's driving home? You have little kids and this drink has two shots in it!" blahblahblah. This couple came in after us and were eating like a foot away from me and nobody seemed inebriated or irresponsible, it was a normal family meal talking about normal stuff, looking after the kids etc. Furthermore the man was eating a full meal with a drink, not pounding shots, and he didn't seem to be anywhere close to too much. The fact that he has kids should also not have come up because if he is so drunk he needs to be cut off by the bar then I wouldn't want him driving kids or not, but two drinks with dinner didn't seem excessive to us. The couple were obviously taken aback and the man annoyedly said to forget the second drink and the waitress began apologizing all over the place. After she walked away I overheard the couple talking about how weird the encounter was and I agree. I sure will not be ordering a drink with my dinner in a restaurant where the waitress is going to loudly lecture me on the alcohol content like I'm the town drunk and other people eating can hear. Do they do that with their bar patrons, I wonder. After that we just wanted to get out of there so we paid and left and as we were leaving at about 8:30 another couple came walking in to eat and my husband saw one of the staff making an upset face behind their back, obviously because the restaurant would now have to work right up till close or beyond to feed these folks. Tough luck buddy. I might eat here again because the food apart from the dessert was pretty good for a diner, but I will be sure not to go in the evening after 7 pm. Cleaner and neater than your average diner, though that's basically what this place is. Nice wide selection of meals. None of them are great, but they are all solid and enjoyable enough. This was the first time here. They had dinner specials and for 9.99 I got sausage pasta, I chose 1 side and a side salad... I could've chosen 2 sides.. I've been at the Brass Eagle many times in the past and never had any issues. I will never go there again. They rip you off on steak purchases! I ordered steak and eggs this morning for breakfast for $15.95 and the breakfast and the service were fine. My issue was with the bill, there was a $2.00 open retail charge added to my bill. When I asked about the charge, they said that it was because I ordered steak. There was nothing on the breakfast menu about the additional charge for steaks. It's not like the steak was grilled or had any additional treatment, it looked like it was fried on the griddle with the eggs. I know $2.00 isn't the end of the world, but they should tell you about it ahead of time! It's just the principle of it. I feel like I got ripped off today. Stay away from their steaks unless you don't mind additional charges for just an OK steak. I won't make that mistake again! read more

Decided to give it a try for dinner in the restaurant. It was just ok. I had the French Onion soup. The onions weren't caramelized at all which is a critical fist step for making a quality onion soup. Broth lacked richness, the cheese was good. I then had the Prime Rib, rare with baked potato and a side salad. The salad was ok, typical greens, two each of red onion slices, cucumber slices and cherry tomatoes, with several croutons. The Prime Rib was cooked perfectly rare but was dry which came from the heating up on a flat top grill with no au jus either in preparation of service. It did not look very appetizing. The bake potato was over baked. My girlfriend had the butterfly shrimp which she said was good. The definitely could be a better place but was definitely a diner with butter served in the little portion cups, dressing and sour cream served in soufflé cups with lids. Service was good. While the AFC playoff game was on in the upstairs bar, there were about 10 patrons at the bar watching the game, no evidence of a full time bartender nor any management presence. I went here with my sister and my boyfriend on Saturday. The place was nice and clean, and I had heard good things about the restaurant so I was excited to try it. The entrance area and bar area were very well kept and had a very pleasing ambiance. As a server, I felt like if I worked there, I would be very proud of the way it looked. We were greeted right away and shown into the room and told to "pick wherever we wanted to sit." I wish we had chosen a different section. I ordered the chicken finger platter with a double side of sweet potato fries and a side of ranch. When the waitress told me that I could have 2 sides, I asked that she double up on the sweet potato fries, she rolled her eyes and said "You get two sides." and I said "that's fine, I'll just take another order of sweet potato fries." She rolled her eyes again, looked at my sister and said "There's one at every table." and walked away. I am not sure what I did to this woman, but the entire meal, I was treated very poorly. My order came out and the chicken tenders were burnt, and my "double" order of sweet potato fries consisted of no more than 10 wedge fries, and when I went to dip my chicken tender in the ranch, there was a hair in it. My sister had ordered a hamburger and my boyfriend had ordered a Chicken Pita. Both really enjoyed their meals. I didn't complain, figuring any complaints would be met with another eye roll. I asked for the bill and the woman brought it, ignored my outstretched hand and set it on the opposite end of the table. I grabbed the tab and when I went to pay the bill, I gave the woman my debit card (on the back, where the signature line is, I always write "see ID"). She came back and said "Can I see your ID?" As if I was trying to pull one over on her. I handed her my ID and she rolled her eyes again and gave it back to me. When she brought back the card, she again ignored my outstretched hand and set my card and the receipt on the opposite end of the table. She murmured a"thank you" and left.
