The service at this establishment tonight was horrible. My bf and I with our 4 kids had to wait over an hour for our food to come out. We got seated at 6:11 pm and at 7:20 pm I had to request to speak to a manager b/c we didn't even received our appetizer. Our server Art did not check in to provide an update on our order either. We watched 3 other tables that got seated after us get their food before us. When the food came out my food was cold and missing a side. One of our orders was a request for no mushrooms but we got it anyway. The baby at the table got her grill cheese sandwich 10 mins after everyone got their food. But the kicker is that the manager offered to give us 50% off like she was doing us a favor. She called me a liar in front of my kids when I expressed my discrepancy with the entire experience and told me I don't have to come back. She was completely rude and disrespectful like we were looking for free food. Unfortunately we had to explain to our children that the experience tonight is one example of how black people are sometimes treated when they are only requiring what's expected. Check your surveillance and your check in process and you can verify the time we came in, sat, the time the order was placed and the time it was received - its was over an hour. The monkey balls and Crab Stuffed Mushrooms were amazing. This was some of the best food we had in St Pete's! As a browns fan, I wasn't thrilled to eat at a Ravens bar but the food was too good to pass up! read more

The service at the restaurant was exceptional. We the opportunity to visit 2 times on our trip we hit outdoor seating and dining indoors. During our initial visit, a staff member named Brodie served us remarkably well. His suggestions for drinks were taken into consideration and they indeed lived up to expectations. Another employee, Tracy, performed her duties remarkably, going over and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable dining experience. The food quality was good, meeting our expectations. We are locals and want to entertain our guest who come to St Pete to visit and enjoy some good food and have tried this place five times hoping for some greatness but wow the service is horrible! I've lived in St.Pete my whole life with family on Sunset Beach/PAG since forever. Somehow I've never eaten at The Brass Monkey. It was Memorial Day Weekend (Sunday, 5/29/22) and we didn't want to eat at the yacht club. So, we found a free parking spot along Eighth Avenue and walked on up. To start, it's a Ravens bar. They have one of the nicest hostesses who offered us inside seating as well as a sunny table outside. We opted to wait for a more shaded table on their outdoor patio overlooking the beach. The inside is loud which is expected if you are there to watch a game and grab some wings. But, who really comes to the beach to sit inside on a beautiful summer day? Once seated, I looked through the extensive menu. I fish offshore a lot, so I skipped ordering fish this time. Although when I come back, I'm grabbing a crab cake! We ordered the jerk chicken starter that's served with a homemade Caribbean sauce, yum. Then two Caesar's. I had the seared 10 oz Ahi Tuna as my entree. This place does not disappoint. The portions are huge, the owner is NOT greedy as you'll notice by the fair pricing and the staff is super friendly. Our drinks stayed full. Everything that passed our table looked delicious as well. Why 3 stars? Because of stubbornness. --- --- --- It's always frustrating when a restaurant has good food, but they just absolutely refuse to acknowledge that they have a problem with their service. Brass Monkey's kitchen is far better than their 2.5 overall star rating, but if you look through the reviews, there are about 20-25 mentions of bad service. I wish I could understand how management continues to allow this to happen. I hope they turn things around, but the key is to read feedback from the general public: please re-train your servers or find a better crew! Our server would disappear in the back for 20+ minutes at a time. I believe she only had one more table, as the restaurant was definitely not busy. At one point when she came out from the back, we could see the imprint of a chair on the back of her legs. Yes... she had been sitting so long, the chair was molding her skin. Numerous times we would ask for something like an extra sauce, a refill, or even for the TV to be changed from an infomercial to the Rays game. Almost every time, we waited an inordinate amount of time. I really hate slamming a place due to one bad experience with service, but as I mentioned, it seems to be a fairly normal experience based on the reviews from others. It's very odd... almost like management doesn't even care. As for the food - the garlic parmesan wings were awesome! The old bay wings were solid, and I would definitely give them another try if I knew that our voices were being heard about the service. read more

Horrible! Got seated right away and it was 10-15 minutes before we had to ask the hostess if she could send someone our way. My friend got the chicken Buffalo sandwich - pretty sure she's going to be sick later.... It came out of a can and then they poured Buffalo sauce on it. I so very desperately want to give this four stars. It's a Baltimore bar in Florida. Legit, the best of two worlds. The menu looked like something I'd see back home. Hometown pride is in full swing here. The drinks were fruity and good, and let me not lie. My crab cake was honest to god awesome. It was a real crab cake. Not an imposter crab cake. The old bay fries were spot on. The waiter was also the best. Francis I think. He was terrific. The three stars belong to the hostess, who gave me the impression that she didn't really care about her job. It took us an hour to get seated on a Thursday, even tho we were next on the list and at the bar. Apparently the key is to be in her face constantly. It took another hour before our food came out too. I've never waited that long in my life for a crab cake. And while not a slight, but rather a suggestion: look into carrying Maryland beers. Update for my previous review below: Id love to see the owner(s) stop being keyboard warriors and instead of giving excuses as to why things arent working and saying they care about the customer's experience online and show they care in person in their restaurant. Place was packed, but don't let that fool you. It's not an "ode to Maryland cooking" like the owners say so. I should have known this place was going to be an unpleasant experience when the host, Leilani, told us it was going to be a 40 minute wait with an attitude like she didn't want to be working. We put our name and number down anyway and walked the beach. 40 minutes later, we returned only to have the host tell us she tried calling. We never received a missed call. Luckily, we were able to be seated by an awesome waiter on the balcony right away. He was the highlight of the entire experience. Serving honesty and helpful insight on the menu. The waiter told us what NOT to get because it wouldn't be good and the kitchen wouldn't be able to handle it. I appreciated that and strayed away from what he told us not to get. However, the items he did recommend were not the best either. Fish and chips, served with "amazing" tartar sauce....out of a foil packet. Crab cake sandwiches that were very dry and not seasoned well. A philly cheese steak where the bread fell apart because it was so saturated from the meat. We waited quite a long time for our food as well. Over an hour. It wouldn't be a bad wait if the food was exceptional, but it was sub-par. This place no doubt makes great money based on its location and incredible view. It would do the owners well to put some of that money back into the business with some fresher ingredients, employees excited to be at work, and a kitchen with cooks that can handle the orders coming through it. It would have been nice had the owner come to all the tables and apologize for the long waits as well, showing the customer they care, but to each their own. The only thing this place has going for them is the location overlooking the beach. The food is average at best and oh boy everyone gets a bag of ruffles. We started the grueling process of ordering appetizers at 7:15 got them at 8pm. Ordered our dinners at 730 received them at 8:45. Don't mind waiting for good food but waiting over an 1.5 is ridiculous. The service is horrible, and it really all starts in the kitchen. Wont be back. read more

We finally tried the Brass Monkey and we are a bit sad that it took us so long to try it. The crab dip is amazing and it was really good on top of the blackened grouper. The monkey balls were delish. The fried shrimp is big and good but I would skip the shrimp for the crab dip. Glad we shared, it was a lot of food. Sarah was our waitress and she is a great one. Caribbean Wrap is really excellent. Not too dense, which I worried, the Caribbean sauce adds a nice spice. The beer is old people beer - no craft just pee. #1 thing they can improve. Didn't experience slow or bad service. Kind and prompt. Most importantly children get hats they can color on with crayons. Adults do not automatically receive these hats. Out on the deck they had fans going and the breeze from the ocean made it quite comfortable. One of my sisters got the ahi tuna appetizer, the other got a grouper sandwich. Both said they enjoyed what they got. They looked pretty good too. I got a Pork on Top burger, which has cheddar cheese, bacon, and bbq sauce on it. It was yummy but a little over cooked. Great spot overlooking the bay. Family owned and operated. Great atmosphere, very friendly and welcoming. A great casual spot for excellent seafood options including the best crab cakes I've ever had. Also great for go to comfort bar food and a cocktail. I've sent many friends from up north for a recommendation for their trip and have had 100% of them take the time to thank me for it. The decor is a little chintzy and run down, but the food is pretty good. All of us in our party got the grilled grouper ruben. That's what we typically order every time we return to Pass-A-Grille. It's very large sandwich where each half could easily feed one person. This is an upstairs restaurant. The outdoor deck facing the West overlooks the Pass-A-Grille beach, so the evening sunsets look amazing. read more

We are Marylanders living in Florida & we were really hoping to finally find a decent crab cake. We drove for an hour to get to your restaurant. Sadly, we ordered the crab cakes & they were not good at all. We also ordered crab dip which was better, but needed some Old Bay seasoning. We did enjoy the Maryland decor.
