I have visited Tiki many times over the last 2 years and have always had a good experience. Today, my concern was not with the food overall, but specifically with the happy hour oysters. I understand every restaurant has its own procedures, but I was surprised when I simply asked if the oysters could be disengaged from the shell before serving. I was told, "We don't do that here," and was then advised to use my fork. The reason an oyster knife exists is because separating the oyster cleanly from the shell takes a quick, precise cut -- it is not the same as trying to pull it loose with a fork. This was a small request, but it made a big difference in the experience. I even have a picture showing part of the oyster muscle still attached to the shell, which is exactly what happens when it is not properly released. The oysters themselves were good, and I would still rate them 3 out of 5 stars. My hope is that management understands this was not a complaint about the oysters, but about a simple gesture of service that would have taken only a moment and made the experience much better. read more

Somewhat crowded, as it was a beautiful evening ( 7:30-7:45) on a Saturday, although there were several tables available -- and I am assuming that's why service was slow. Our server was nice, but we rarely saw her....and had to wait a minimum of 15 minutes each time: had to wait once seated, for her to take our order, and she came by well after our food was done...then had to wait 10-15 minutes for our check. We only had one drink and 2 apps and was there for just about 90 minutes. So much for a quick bite. We will most likely not come during peak hours. The good: Got to catch a great sunset and have a tasty and healthy dinner ( ahi and pineapple chicken quesadilla )...the accompanying salsa for the latter was good and we wanted more than the tiny cup it came in, but since no one came to check on us, the taste of the quesadilla decreased. read more

What a gem! The warmed lobster roll was outstanding, and had generous chunks of sweet lobster lightly tossed in warm butter and served on a perfectly toasted, buttery roll. So rich, juicy, and flavorfl! I had to take one to go! easily one of the best lobster rolls I've had in a while, and the portion was really generous. The drinks were also top tier. Its hard to choose which was my favorite. The service was prompt, and courteous, despite having a large party. Ambiance is beautiful. First, the Blue Hawaii. The menu literally says "discover what lurks inside this shark infested bowl" -- reader, I discovered it. It lurks. It lurks HARD. $29 for a triple-size cocktail you could legally register as a swimming pool? Reasonably priced. I'd pay that just for the cherries on top, which were arranged with the dignity of a Vegas headliner. The frozen cocktails in general are a steal. Pina Colada at $11, Lava Flow at $11, Hawaiian Mai Tai at $10 with a *dark rum floater* like it's just casually showing up to the party uninvited. I had a Cou-Cou Cooler and now I understand why it's called that. I am, in fact, cou-cou. Ordered the Florida Pork Nachos because I am a patriot. The mojo pulled pork, jalapeño queso, pineapple pico -- at one point I made eye contact with the flamingo on the menu and I swear he nodded at me like, "yeah, brother. yeah." Also got the Tiki Bleu Burger. Bleu cheese crumbles AND bleu cheese mayo. They're not playing. This burger has a position on bleu cheese and I respect that. My friend got the Warm New England Lobster Roll. She has not spoken to me since because she's still emotionally processing it. $33.99 well spent. Saved room for the Banana Butter Cake like the menu BEGGED me to, and I'm glad I listened because it has the audacity to be that good. Only complaint: the Yuca Fries upgrade is $1.99 and I feel like that should be illegal. Just charge me $5. Stop being so reasonable. 10/10. The flamingo knows what he's doing. read more

We were in St. Pete for an appointment and afterwards it was time for Lunch. I had seen rave reviews of Tiki Docks Skyway. The restaurant is located in the Maximo Marina  just West of I-275. We loved the location and decided to sit outside by the water and enjoy the view. The menu has lots of great choices including - Bourbon Glazed Salmon. Grouper Sandwiches, New England Lobster Rolls, and assorted Salads just to mention a few. We both chose the Blackened Grouper Sandwich, mine with French Files and hers with Yuca Fries. Both choices were excellent. All in all we found the Tiki Docks Skyway a great location for lunch. Visited this establishment on a Saturday afternoon. Beautiful outside seating area and tiki bar. Menu has lots of great options. The service was great very attentive. The only issue was my order came out incorrectly. The server quickly assured me that they would bring a new correct order out to me. Whoever was the hostess on Monday night on July 27 was very rude we walked up at 9:20 when we know the place closes at 10 o'clock and she goes the kitchen closes in 10 minutes which doesn't make any sense. And I feel like as someone who also works in a restaurant you do not tell customers that the kitchen closes in 10 minutes you're just steering customers away from the restaurant. You walk up to this bigger than life Tiki hut designed building. They have an enormous amount of outside seating and a ginormous bar covered Tiki style outside as well. The decor an artwork on the walls tell you everything you need to know. The waitress was attentive and friendly. Once the food arrived ( lobster rolls) we dig right into them. I met a few friends for lunch on a Friday. Not crowded at all. We all got the warm lobster roll. It is the one that is with drawn butter versus celery and aïoli. It is $33, and worth every penny. They give you two very soft Toasted split top buns, I moved all the lobster meat to one bun and left the other bun and ate french fries, but do as you please. The amount of knuckle and claw meat in the lobster rolls was insane. The butter comes on the side and mine was so juicy and tender, but no additional butter was needed However it would have made it super indulgent. Finding a decent bite in South St. Pete is an expedition through a culinary wasteland But the Tiki docks is no mirage, it is a welcome culinary oasis that delivers. The vibe is extra chill under the tiki hut which offers bar and table seating. While they do have tvs typically tunes to sporting events, this is emphatically a hang out and chill bar with sports, not a sports bar. And for those days when the outdoor temp is hotter than the sun, there are a smattering of indoor tables with free flowing AC. My favorites are the Cuban, Caesar salad with shrimp, steamed shrimp. They also have excellent burgers and pulled pork but the stand out and unsung hero is the FRIES -- fat and crinkled, they deserve their own fan club. You can wash down all this heart grub with delicious libations and they offer a full bar that includes crafty tropical, specialty drinks, as well as old faithfuls, and a full array of beer, wine, and seltzers. Came with our large family of 17 people and had a wonderful experience! It's always hard to know how a restaurant will handle a large party with several separate checks and they did amazing! They were able to accommodate a gluten allergy and dairy, soy, and corn restriction and seemed confident. Some of the best wings that I have had in the Tampa Bay Area. They are baked and then grilled so you get a nice char flavor. The location is perfect and the drinks are cheap. We try to support our local businesses to include Tiki Docks. Haven't been here in a while primarily because it is so up and down with service and food quality. You would think management knowing it's post Thanksgiving and foot/boat/car travel will be increased, staffing would be prepared. Not even close. A few years ago the manager was Tommy Pape. He had his struggles with maintaining quality staffing, but it appeared to try to do his best by touching tables and correcting issues. This place is a potential gold mine. We will try Tiki Docks again. Sure hope they figure it out. read more

Boy does this place feed you!!! I ordered the mixed fish basket (shrimp, grouper bites and scallops). Cooked perfect. Portion was huge, So much however I needed a doggie bag. See pic. My mother ordered the fish and chips and I honestly thing they gave her half of the entire fish. The batter on the cod was perfect. Had lunch at the Tiki Docks....the location is fairly nice, near the water on the end of a marina with no real view of the water. There's three seating options - inside with AC, patio seating and the actual Tiki bar. The menu is fairly standard for the restaurants in the area - heavy on fish dishes and lots of MP on the menu. There's a greeter sitting outside to direct traffic which wasn't really necessary today but I'm sure there's time when the place is full. We were seated and ordered a couple drafts. Ordered a half dozen oysters on the half shell, chicken tenders and a funky burger with pineapple. Oysters were small - probably the smallest I've ever had. Tasted fresh and were on ice with horseradish and cocktail sauce. The chicken tenders were okay but just okay. Serving size was good but just bland. The burger was different - there were flavors from the pineapple and sauce that was on it but the texture of the meat was weird - if I had to guess it was ground extra fine and pressed really tight. What an amazing experience here today! We were seated inside, and our waiter was attentive and happy to answer any questions. The key lime cocktail hits just the right spot. The shrimp toast is finger licking good. You can never go wrong with the nachos or the blue cheese cheeseburger. I actually also enjoyed seeing all of the staff working together so well, having fun and laughing. It lightens the mood of the atmosphere in the restaurant. The food was very good. Ahi tuna and chicken finger appys were very good. The tuna came with a corn relish that was a very nice compliment. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits which were everything I expected as were the salads that the ladies had and my friend had the fish tacos that satisfied.
