Have been coming to Brass Monkey for 15+ years while vacationing in Pass-a-grille & never have had such bad service as we did tonight...poor waitress had to keep apologizing for kitchen mess ups...took 1hr 1/2 to receive food & that's even after we asked for it to go...used to be my favorite place to eat at Pass-a-grille but it's no longer...need better management & kitchen staff need to be trained better...after all these years I can definitely tell ownership has changed...management needs to make sure customers are happy with service & not rely on wait staff to make up for kitchen mistakes. read more

The Brass Monkey was a cool atmosphere with average food. My daughter had the burger with crab and cheese on it, and she described it as the best she'd ever had. My husband thought the seafood and corn chowder was divine. My fish and chips wasn't noteworthy, and the cheese pizza, although pleasing to my daughter, was described as a good pizza on a "lunchable" pizza dough. The teriyaki wings were "ok". Our server was really friendly, and overworked. We watched her serve half the restaurant on a busy Memorial Day weekend. We were tired just watching her as she zoomed from table to table. Not much of an experience with her, because she was so busy that she was walking away from us as we were speaking to retrieve our request or the next customer's request. Came for a couple of beers and some nibbles. Kind of surprised they didn't have more local beers available. That was a bit disappointing. HUGE menu. We decided to share a couple steamed appetizers. The mussels and the shrimp. The mussels were OK. Broth was good as was the cheesy ciabatta that comes with it. But the mussels kind of lacked flavor and may have been a tad overcooked. The shrimp were big. They are covered in a lot of Old Bay which is totally unnecessary as the shrimp were fantastic with the cocktail sauce on its own. Service was pretty good. Food was okay when finally got it. Waited an hour as our waitress, Jen, disappeared after taking our order. When ordered we our food we asked specifically for our appetizers to come out first. After watching 2 other tables served eat and done we still had no food. Obviously their wait staff did a much better job. Finally had to go inside and ask bartender where our waitress and food was. She immediately brought our food out, all of our food at the same time. appetizers and meals which obviously had been sitting under the heat lamp for at least half an hour. Beef jerk chicken and the potato skins were so sitting under a lamp that they were dried out. As well as our entrees. Waitress looked like she was on crack. Then she disappeared again for another half hour. Had to ask the bartender inside again where's our waitress we need the bill. She then immediately came out asked if we needed boxes which we did and went to give us the bill that she looked at it said up not your bill gave it to the other table disappeared again for half an hour. We all went into the inside bartender and passed our waitress we needed a receipt. He went and got her she said I gave you your receipt we said no you gave the other table a receipt so we waited another 4 minutes for her to figure out what the hell to do. All in all a lunch that started at 1:30 ended at 4:30 3 hours mostly waiting for service. Thank God we had great company to entertain ourselves. read more

We ate there tonight while visiting st Pete's and we were very disappointed in the service. We got seated around 7:15. Ordered our food fairly quickly and we didn't get it until an hour later. Our server didn't check on us so we didn't have drinks. We sought her out but couldn't find her Because we were a party of 7, which is considered a large party, we were charged 20% gratuity. Very disappointing since the service was slow and the food was mediocre at best. read more

I was with a group and we ordered the monkey balls (small crab cakes) wings & fries for appetizers and for my meal and for my entrée, I ordered the Assawoman sandwich. Really enjoyed my visit here today. This restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of a two-story building and has an impeccable view of the Gulf waters and beach. I'm a Baltimore native so this place hit the spot for my cravings for hometown fare. Tasty onion rings for appetizer. House salad with HUGE broiled crab cake, made like they do in Bal'mer. The owner noticed our group's Orioles attire (as we had just come from watching game at The Trop) and stopped over for a visit. Highly recommend! I've been here a handful of times and it's been pretty consistent with service. I like to sit on their patio outside. It's never too busy and they usually have outdoor seating available. There are beautiful views of the beach. This place has one of the best chicken salads I have ever had! Heavy on the chicken and lighter on the salad. It was the house salad with jerk chicken. Three giant juicy tenderloins atop a bed of lettuce and tortilla strips. I also had a specialty drink with rum and a floater. Too sugary for me but I don't typically like tropical cocktails. A few family members and I decided to come out for food and libation on St Patrick's Day knowing it would be a busy evening, especially combined with Spring Break. The wait staff was super helpful and our food and drinks were served quickly The bartender made me a delicious " Razzin" martini that almost tempted me to have another!! A nearby table (outdoor balcony) started with one complaint after another. A member of our party commented that he thought they were going to try to get free meals... and darned if they might have!! Had an unpleasant first time experience at this restaurant. Got seated quickly outside with a nice view of the beach. Cocktails came no problem. Ordered clams on half shell which were very small and rather tasteless. 10 minutes later a large group of rowdy, loud, cursing teenagers sat next to us. I couldn't hear my husband across the table from me. I asked the hostess if we could move to another vacant table at the other end of the porch. She said no. When our waitress returned to our table I explained I was uncomfortable with this loud group who was constantly cursing next to us and asked her if we could move to one of the 2 open tables. She said sure! So we moved. A minute later she returned and said sorry, she made a mistake and we have to go back to our original table. WHY?? What's the difference?? The hostess comes over and rudely tells us to move back or leave. I asked for the manager, who came by and said we can't just switch tables. Our waitress had said no problem! We paid for our appetizer/drinks and left. This is a loud, rather trashy restaurant which doesn't deserve my money. Painfully slow to get your order in. Every table full, and a 55 minute wait on a Monday night. Two servers for the whole place. Looking around, is only one table on the patio with food on their table. Not a good sign. This means their kitchen is getting murdered. It's been 30 minutes to get an appetizer. Unfortunately, it seems like they're suffering the fate of many businesses these days..... they can't hire anyone no matter how badly they want to. Stay away because the price to experience ratio is way out of wack for the foreseeable future. This will be about a 2.5 hour ordeal. Owner needs to get his rump in the kitchen. Good finally came out. Cheese steak was not warm and was rubbery while the bun was rock hard. Seafood combo platter was good but the food temp was questionable. Rest of the food was edible with warm to cool temps. Fyi- it got really busy later-after 6:30 pm. We were not really hungry so we only shared a pepperoni pizza and a crab and artichoke dip. The pizza was a decent size, with lots of cheese and pepperoni, however, it was a little on the greasy side. The dip was ok- the artichokes were cooked very well, the cheese was nicely crusted on top; I just didn't really see the crab part of it. It must have blended with the creamy slightly greasy filling under the cheese. If I had to guess, the cheese was the source of the grease. I wanted to taste the crab. Would I come back? I would say that 1 in 10 restaurants who claim they specialize in crab cakes actually live up to their representations - and have excellent crab cakes. I'd say that 2.5 to 3 in 10 restaurants who claim they specialize in great burgers actually have excellent burgers. The Brass Monkey falls way short of their representations. Our crab cakes were dry and somewhat bland. And yes, I know I'm "picky." Mrs. W had a really nice piece of tuna cooked perfectly. One of our friends had the grouper Reuben, and he thought it was really good. It looked great! Our highlight was our server Alex. Great easy-going attitude and attentive. I might go back for the grouper Reuben, but there's no excuse for a bland and dry crab cake. Pass on this crab cake if that's why you're going. read more

The crab cake reminded me of the crab cakes in Maryland. More meat less filler is key and they nailed it. They have fresh squeeze juice for your drinks which makes the in my mind healthy lol so if your looking for less traffic than Clearwater but still want to enjoy then nice view this is the place to go. read more

I went here after fishing with my parents, because we were in the area. We didn't know it was a ravens bar, which is fine, but it was overwhelmingly loud in there so we sat outside. The wait staff was good, polite and not overwhelming. First we ordered drinks, 2 beers and I ordered a orange grapefruit crush, which had absolutely no flavor whatsoever, I decided to order a beer for my second drink. Then we ordered the jalapeno poppers, which were supposed to have chipotle cheese inside. They were plain frozen poppers with salsa and sour cream... The meals were crab cake sandwich, which was ok, I've had much better. The burger with American cheese, which was good. Then the blackened tuna sandwich, and I don't feel tuna and blackened seasoning go together, as the seasoning overpowers the fish. Though a bit on the salty side from the type of rub they use but good all the same. Don't get this meal well done because it will be dry. Try to get it medium well. Tuna is best served moist in my opinion. The menu will keep you interested in trying several items at one seating.
