Overall, we've enjoyed coming. Nachos and pizza are our favorites, lots of tvs for football games. However, tried to go in at 10pm (according to google they close at midnight, yelp says 11pm) and they had chairs on tables and were mopping the main dining area. I have been many times and I try to love it...but I can't. the service is terrible! waiting around for a drink or to be noticed is infuriating. multiple servers standing around and not paying attention to the patrons. the food is inconsistant. The comps for gaming is terrible! Beers are comp'd if under $9 yet most beers are $9.50, no matter how much I bet. super disappointing. We love the location since we reside in South Reno. South Reno definitely needed something of this sort. We tried quite a few apps and I was pretty impressed. The loaded fries, cheese curds, jalapeño pretzel & spicy heat wings were all good. We also tried a pepperoni pizza and the Asian Spicy Chicken sandwich both were also good. The Staff is very friendly and service is very good. Their food could use some improvement. I have eaten there twice in the past couple of months. I had the Fish and Chips one time, they were terrible. Overcooked,greasy with very little Fish,mostly breading. Last week I decided to try their Chicken Tenders. They were overcooked, almost burnt and very greasy. I understand it is fried food but they tasted awful, almost as if the Oil was old or something. Their Burgers and Pizza are normally very good. Jessie is the best! We had our first experience here for brunch. The food menu, while limited, still has a great assortment. We ordered one or everything. Each dish was perfect and as requested. I had the breakfast burrito which was wonderul. The drink menu was well created. We had the nest bloody mary's. They come with bacon, jalpaeno, olive and celery, with a spicy, salted rim. Jessie was very attentive, personable and had a lot of good suggestions for us. She made the day even better. My nephew, 10 years old, was with us and she was amazing with him too. Brand new place, so I gave it a month to get the kinks out. Went there with my wife for lunch, and was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of food and service. Fish & chips were excellent, served with a malt vinegar aioli which was unusual, but good. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Pricing... that's really my only gripe about this place. I've seen the other reviews about the service and how slow they are but I was there to watch the football games so I was in no rush. Our servers both times we went have been pleasant and personable. When I got my food, I wasn't disappointed by it, but more so the check i got at the end. For my girlfriend and I, it was $86 + tip. The "happy hour" was nonexistent as we tried to look it up on their website and it said "ask server" for times". We went around 1pm and the server said Happy Hour was 4-6pm. We looked at their Happy Hour items just out of curiosity and they're still pricey. Ambiance is alright; they have a huge selection of beers to choose from. My suggestion is to go to Flowing Tide just up the street. We got 3 beers for $10 during their happy hour. Even BJ's at the Summit, their happy hour looks great compared to anything from the Brass Tap. read more

Third visit to The Brass Tap was just as enjoyable as the first two! 10/10 would recommend everything we've tried so far: buffalo cauliflower, pretzel, loaded brisket fries, cheese curds, wings (the brown sugar bourbon dry rub was fun). My brother said the chicken patty on the asian bbq crispy chicken sandwich was the best he's had in Reno and a table next to us agreed. We didn't order off the brunch menu but the hangover burger looks epic. Super nice bartenders and the table seating is semi-family style so we've sat with fun strangers a few times. Discovering a new fav brewery (Paperback... get the Bunny with a Chainsaw!) thanks to their huge tap selection has been awesome, too! read more

I finally was able to make it into The Brass Tap because every time I go by it was packed! Now I know why! My son and I decided to go there earlier on Friday afternoon to get a jump on the crowds around 4:00, but even then the inside seating was full. No problem, we were able to sit outside with the heater and still feel somewhat like we were inside with the open windows to the backside of the bar. Honestly, it wasn't bad had it not had a touch of snow in the morning, however we did see a table open up within 10 minutes and we moved inside. This was lucky because it was a big fight night and crowds were getting bigger. The Brass Tap is a great venue for sports viewing as there are TVs everywhere! The layout is optimized in my opinion to handle as many people as possible given the size of the place. The service was spot on too as our server was checking in with us at a good clip and very friendly. We shared the BBQ pork mac 'n cheese bites, which were nicely prepared and smothered in cheese...that's a personal preference for me! The B\blackened cod tacos were also very tasty with really good flavor. Of course there are tons of beers to choose from, including cider and other cocktails. The server was very nice. But I never love a holler from across the room "sit wherever you like" there were a bunch of servers just hanging out so they could easily greet you at the door. We ordered the app with queso guacamole and salsa, it was pace salsa from a jar and such a small portion of each dip. Also had to ask for silverware after our food already came out. The wings were good but the Brussel sprouts were mediocre at best. I also ordered food to go and it wasn't until I got home that I realized my entire entree was missing. Solid 2ish stars. Still going through their growing pains I would guess. The place was really busy on the evening we went. Good to know that it's seat yourself after reading other Yelp reviews but crazy not being notified by any means when you walk in. Nothing in the entry, just a busy restaurant to walk in to. Grab whatever empty table you can find, even if it's dirty! That will probably cause issues down the road when you have 4 people camped by your table because they see the server bring your check. It's cramped, we sat on the parking lot side and both sides of the table were hard to get in and out of without disturbing the neighbors. The happy hour mystery was what bothered me the most, well almost. The menu said to ask the server about the hours, we did, 4-7. They were so busy I wouldn't have wanted to inconvenience them to ask what pints were on happy hour. They have so many beers why would they want you to ask what pints are on happy hour?? Ridiculous that the menu just said selected, your staff don't have time for that. Needless to say, none of our beers we ordered were discounted. And even more of an annoyance was the $9 beer I ordered came in a 10oz pour. Wife got the same 10oz but in a different variety. No way I would have ordered if I would have known it wasn't a pint for that price...but the menu didn't say. My educated/experienced guess was likely in a 12oz glass but they were in such a hurry to pour it I was lucky to get 10oz. That was the kicker!! Food was a 3, burgers were decent and cooked as ordered. But they came dry, no condiments. Cooked medium is hard to get in this town these days, so thankful for that. Wife's fries came out hot but soft so when I ordered later in the evening I asked if they could make mine crispy. Yes, we can do that was the response. At least the small fries were crispy, the larger ones still soft. Meh. Maybe we'll go back once they've worked out the bugs...hopefully they work out the bugs. But in all honesty, I think they'll keep doing what they do because they're the only place on that end of town offering what they do. Good spot for people that don't mind putting up with the downfalls because they don't want to drive 5 or 6 more minutes up the road. read more

I usually don't do this but feel management needs to know. We had "brunch" that is what they called it. Signage outside. Sign on door. We'll waitress wasn't sure but ok yes. The memos deal didn't exist "we don't offer bottomless memos" the food was so salty I couldn't eat it at all. They need to honor the sign! And serve food that doesn't taste like a salt sharper. This spot just opened in south reno. I stopped in to try their burgers. The ambience is very sports bar, with big screen TVs lining the walls, and slide open walls that create this open air space with the patios. No one greeted me when i walked in and it was a bit confusing on whether this is a "seat yourself" place or you are supposed to wait for a hostess. After making eye contact with several waitresses who didn't come over to seat me i just kind of wandered over to the bar and took an empty seat. Then i was instantly greeted with menus and drinks. The menu is pretty routine pub food. I opted for the basic cheeseburger, but they don't really have a basic burger. I ordered the pub burger, hold the bacon, tomato and pickle. I hate paying for stuff that i don't like on a burger so wish they had an option without bacon. The burger came in 10 min and was very good, although the single slice of cheese was so thin it was mostly lost on the burger after melting. Also, the burger didn't come with onion or any mayo, ketchup, special sauce or other condiments. So i had to use the small cup of ketchup that came with my fries to dump on my burger. I wasn't the only one with this problem as i saw many other small cups of condiments coming from the kitchen. They need to resolve this because it is irritating when you are eating dry fries because you used all the ketchup on your burger. I'm not sure why they can't just have bottled ketchup at the ready. The crinkle fries were good and i ordered my burger done medium and they actually nailed it so i was happy about that. Overall it was a good burger and fries. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. The price was a bit on the high side but if you are enjoying the ambience and/or watching a game it is probably worth it. If i was just going for the food, i would probably opt for another place that has a more complete menu. There are several close by. Net net, this is a nice addition to south reno. I think it will do well with the younger, athletic crowd and i predict it to be a vibrant meeting spot. read more

Walked in as a single woman. Sat at the bar, was not greeted for over 7 minutes, no smiles and VERY MINIMAL eye contact. I felt like I was a burden being here. When someone with limited eye contact finally did ask me blank faced, oh you still havent gotten anything yet?" I said no not yet, just waiting my turn". I asked for 2 samples and I felt the eye roll and like I was a waste of their time. Yes, I may have come in just prior to shift change, but that just means I was exposed to more staff.(no one wants to be here) Looking around at the guest, (thinking maybe its me) many had empty or close to empty glasses, waiting for boxes or someone to even look in their direction to get their attention for service. Watched others arrive and "seat themself" as their door sign says, I watched them get frustrated waiting for an obscene amount of time to even be noticed....maybe its not just me. The staff here gives off the vibe they hate being here. I doubt ill come back even though the beer I had was made VERY WELL. It's obvious from the crowd that this new place is becoming a popular hot spot in the area. Some friends and I stopped by for a drink and to share some appetizers. Service was great! Our server was friendly and recommended some good beers and ciders on tap for us to enjoy. We decided to indulge in the BBQ pork Mac and cheese balls and guacamole/chips to snack on. The Mac and cheese balls were SO good! It's on the heavier side, but worth it. The guacamole included a couple jalapeños which gave it a nice kick. One friend ordered a BBQ burger while another ordered chicken tenders. No complaints on their part and they looked tasty. We went here the other night. The place was packed. We were lucky to find a high top table outside. There were tons of TVs and they had baseball game on. You could see the game (or anything they play) from any seat in the restaurant. The high top tables outnumber the low tables. There are only 8 low profile tables. The bar area is a huge 'L' shape and also opens to the patio area. Restroom areas were clean. We also were aware that it's opening week. So we were expecting some hiccups, but not like this. My water glass had crumbs inside at the bottom and our first little plates that came out were dirty with pieces of food still on it (shredded cheese or what looked like that). Our servers were great and friendly, but seemed overwhelmed. It took over 20mins for the table next to us to have 4 glasses removed and cleaned from the previous group. Drinks came out very slow and not all beers listed were available. Unfortunately, their pizza oven was broken and they ran out of fries so they gave tater tots as a substitute. The food was decent and they had lots of options. The happy hour menu didn't blow us away. They didn't have a drink of the week yet, which was odd considering we were just told all their menus come from corporate. We ordered buffalo cauliflower, boom boom shrimp (happy hour menu), and chicken wings basket. We had ordered the chicken wings extra crispy and not sauced, but wanted a side of sauce. When the wings came out they were sauced, no blue cheese dipping sauce or coleslaw that is supposed to come with the basket, but it did have the side of buffalo sauce. When we asked for the blue cheese that was supposed to come with it, well, it took 10mins to get that and we got charged for it. While we sat there the place got packed again, which is great for their business. Unfortunately, even though there were no seats available the staff member at the door was still allowing people in and giving them one free drink voucher to each person. This one couple came in and caught us off guard. They asked to sit at our table. It was awkward and we just said yes. It was uncomfortable because we were being served food and trying to have our own conversation. Normally I wouldn't mind if it was a large communal table, but it was a four seat high top. They kept interjecting into our conversation, which was annoying and they were frustrated because there was no server coming over to take their order or even acknowledge them. So they got up and left after about 10-15mins. FYI - this is the second couple we had seen leave due to no one coming over to them. In the future maybe let people know an estimated wait time and not let folks just ask customers to sit at their table unless it's a communal table. It's uncomfortable for all parties and makes for a poor experience. When we asked for our bill the server said she could take payment at the table which was fine. She didn't show us the bill and just swiped our card. We asked for a receipt and she said she had to print it to another location. We waited for a bit and then stood up to go, she came back to the table and said have a great night. I said thanks and again we asked for the receipt. She immediately went across the room to get it for us, which wasn't a huge deal but we were waiting a bit for it. In general, it's a nice location, great atmosphere, decent menu, staff were friendly (but might be understaffed). Despite the issues we pointed out to our server we never saw a manager come over and apologize or speak to us. Again it's opening week so these things are bound to happen. They're hopefully still working out the kinks. I do plan to return in a few weeks to see if everything has improved from week 1. I'd say give it a try, but maybe wait a week or two. I'll review again after my next visit and I'm hopeful it will be better. read more

This restaurant had only been open for less than a week. The owner said to us, "We are more a bar than a restaurant. Grab any open seat." So we did. We grabbed a seat and sat. There was no table service. The couple we sat across was nice and their food looked amazing. Sadly, I can't really review this place at this time. I'll make a full review next week. Stopped by The Brass Tap yesterday. Had a beer and fried pickles. The bar area doesn't having any machines, but it looks like there could be gaming in the future. Not sure what vibe we were expecting, but it had a sort of boxy / generic kind of feel. Decent selection of beer on tap with an up to date menu of beer on hand (printed daily), and a decent selection of basic bar food menu. The fried pickles were pretty greasy tho, and probably wouldn't get again. Service was good, but when he brought our beers, we were asked if we were only getting the 2 beers and no food (we had to remind him we ordered the pickles). It's a little out of the way for us, so not sure if we will be back, but if you live in the area, it's probably a nice add-on of places to visit. read more

Went to this place a couple weeks ago and it was busy but food was awesome. Had streak nachos, boneless wings and tots. Went back today at about 2:30 pm. Not busy at all and the food was awful. The tator tots seemed to have been cooked and than cooked again see picture below. Boneless wings were not fresh and ranch dressing was not ranch. Some kind of dressing with funky taste. It's a shame but typical here when places open they are really good and than they go downhill! read more

Nice spot, open air feel, not sure what the focus is because some of the TV monitors were set to other than sports stuff. I stayed basic and went with the chicken tenders and fries....$17, it was good, really wanted sliders, don't have'em. They did have happy hour beers but in ridiculously tiny glasses.
