This bar hasn't officially opened when we visited on St. Patrick's Day. There was a soft opening event happening that was very fun. Everyone was dressed in green attire and holiday inspired attire. The bar staff was fast. I honestly think that is the fastest I've ever received a drink ever. I greatly appreciated that and I hope that continues to be a standard there. The bar was also large on the inside and the outdoor area was also spacious too. The bar had a LIVE band, which I enjoyed. They also had several TV's because most of the guests were watching one of the March Madness games. Additionally, they are located near a parking garage, so you don't have to ride around looking for street parking. I think the garage is only $5 too. Overall, I enjoyed myself and I'd visit again. read more

Five stars for our server, Erin, who went above and beyond. :) A group of us stopped by on New Year's Day, initially intending to catch a day tour from the visitor's center, but upon finding it closed made our way over to the Brick for a pit stop. Though we only ordered wings and some coffee to warm up, the real reason I'm writing this review is to give a shout out to our server, Erin, who called several tour companies in the area to check if any tours were running that day. If I could give zero stars, I would. It was the worst food I ever had. A simple chicken sandwich was so dried out, it was as tough as leather. I would recommend starving to death before eating here. Even frozen food is better. The only pros were the waitress, who was very nice, and the restaurant is clean. read more

Attempted to get a drink, I'm from Florida, I showed my Florida ID initially to the security, he let me in no problems. I then went to order a margarita at the bar & the bar tender checked my ID again & said it was "fake." I told her to scan it (which she didn't.) I then proceeded to show her my AAA card, multiple credit cards, & my OCPS teacher ID (I'm a 6th grade teacher in Orlando, currently on spring break visiting my brother.) Stopped by for a quick dinner after an event downtown and were greeted by the bar manager who was very chatty and friendly. We ordered the pretzels (it comes with 2) which were nice and soft and definitely HUGE that came with two dipping sauces. I ordered the 1/2 pound of boneless wings, which is a lot of wings! The boneless wings were crispy and buffalo sauce delicious. My husband had the cheeseburger egg rolls which he felt like were too greasy, but what do you expect from something deep fried!? Went here to watch the Hokies game and the bar was packed with fans! There is a drink special wheel that they spin each quarter - fun to participate in even if you aren't into watching football. Ryan, our bartender took great care of us and we didn't have to wait for drinks. We sat at the bar but there were hightops as well as regular tables for sitting. A few arcade games in the back. We came to check this place out last week for drinks and to play Golden Tee. The bartender was super friendly and the cocktails were delicious! We ended up staying longer to play a round of darts. I was pretty impressed by The Brick. It was Comedy Open Mic night and went on an impulse with a few friends to watch thinking we may see a couple people tell some jokes and as a bonus it was half price wine night. Really pretty spaceous bar and our server was very good at keeping us taken care of. To our surprise there were about 10 or more comics and some pretty darn good stuff. We are looking into making it to this monthly occurrence more often. It was too bright in there but maybe it was because the comics wanted that but seems like a better spotlight on where they were would allow the lights down some. We had several drinks and I had the fried pickles which were pretty darn good. They might could increase the size of the order a little bit but really liked them. My wife really liked the mini corndogs. REALLY LIKED! Overall a great experience and we will be back for something. It looks like they have special events on a regular basis including some live music so want to go back and consider it a 5 sometime in the future. IT was close this time. read more

Great food and great service! We came here during the 4-7pm happy hour and got great deals on drinks and food. The fried pickles and fried macaroni were amazing. The buffalo chicken sandwich was HUGE and my boyfriend loved jt. The veggie burger was perfect consistency and flavor and the Brick sauce goes great on the burgers, sweet potato tots, and fries. We brought my dog and the outdoor seating was covered and dry and the perfect spot to bring a pet. The staff was very friendly and quick! Today was my first time here and I really enjoyed it. I walk by this place all the time and only came today because a friend mentioned it. We had the appetizer sample which was really cheap, but really good. The buffalo shrimps were the best. I scrolled through the menu and there are a lot of other things I cant wait to try. This is a really awesome sports bar, laid back and chill. A great place to relax. Has outdoor seating with a couch and there is a dart area inside. Only giving four stars because the menu is very small, wish they had more options. Super basic fried food and sandwiches, which is understandable for a sports bar but the menu doesn't have anything unique to set it apart from other bars. The service at the bar was okay, I had to wait awhile for refills and my beer was sitting at the edge empty for ten minutes before anyone noticed and it was super slow so there should be no excuse as I'm in the food and bev industry. Who doesn't love The Brick? In the middle of the different parts of town; it's easy to meet up with my James Island, West Ashley and Mt Pleasant friends. Their fries are amazing, the veggie burger is the size of my (normal sized) face, and the bartenders are easy on the eyes (talkin' bout you Matty). In a city known for its great service and food, The Brick falls well short of the standard. In every single interaction, our waitress was completely overwhelmed and unable to meet our tables needs. We finally determined that we'd order multiple rounds of drinks and food at once in the hopes that 1 our of 4 of the things we'd order might actually hit the table. Nope-- our waitress would not end up putting in any of our orders. When our check finally arrived after 45 minutes of waiting for it, our waitress had to explain to us that she had accidentally given our tables tab to a neighboring table, but that this worked out in our benefit. However, she had to ask us (all 6) what we ordered individually. After going through the bill item by item 3 times and still not being correct, we just paid and walked away. I certainly will never return and know for a fact that no one from my group will either. A few pitchers of beers and wings shouldn't ever be this complicated. read more

Let me start of by saying I usually do not post reviews, but after a couple days I decided to write this. I started going to Bricks after they shortly opened. It is close to my job and convenient for lunch. My co-workers sang its praises and I thought I'd give it a try. I have been there several times and they were awesome. The food is a little pricy but worth every penny. I would eat there daily and sometimes would order take out for home for supper. I never had an issue until a couple of days ago. On Tuesday (give or take) I went in for lunch as I always did. I ordered my usual - Shrimp Po Boy, fries and a ginger ale. This time I asked for cheese on the sandwich with no seasoning on the fries because the seasoning is too salty (I have a salt allergy, also they tend to over season them). First I will start by saying they appeared to have a new guy in there. He appeared to be very sloppy, unshaven and seemed to not want to be at work that day. He took my order and announced that it was $14 dollars, $3 dollars more then it usually costs. I didn't say anything thinking maybe the price went up. I also ordered cheese. I did'nt want to be the "black girl" arguing over the price of my food with all of my collegues looking on so I held my tongue and handed him my money. He put my order in and when it was ready handed it to me. I asked him did they remember the cheese and mayo on the side. He looked and acted very annoyed and said yes. Again, I paid it no mind, took my bag and walked outside to the patio to eat. I became annoyed right away because I could see the seasoning on my fries immediately upon opening the box. I thought I would just eat the Po Boy and try to eat around the fries. I opened the sandwich and saw that there was no cheese on it. Again, I let it go because I was hungry and my break was almost over. I then went to put my lips to the sandwich and was overwhelmed by a pungent smell of fish. It appeared the shrimp was spoiled. At that point I did not want to eat the sandwich because I was afraid that I would get sick. I took my box and walked back inside. I went up to the waiter and told him the many issues with my food. He instantly became rude, snatched the box from me and threw it up on the server window. After whispering with the cook (who by the way immediately scowled at me through the window) he told me that they would make me another one. He walked away before I could tell him that I no longer wanted the shrimp, but would take a bacon Po Boy (although it was much cheaper- taking the lost *I was starving and my break was almost over at that point). When I finally got his attention to tell him this he became angry and told the cook. I could here the cooks agrevation as he refered to me as a "stupid person" but began making my sandwich. After hearing that, I told them never mind and I just wanted my money back for the food. The young lady at the bar tried to give me my money back but could not see my bill. To me he had appeared to not put it in. He finally walks up takes $11 dollars out of his apron (although charging me $14 dollars orginally), throws it on the counter towards me and walks away. The people sitting at the counter appeared to be horrified. I just took my money, left and have not been back. Look, overall I really like Bricks. Other then that incident I have never had issues with them. Usually the people are super nice. I don't know if the guy was having a bad day or what. If anything the management really needs to teach their staff about customer service. This orginally started with the fries. They are way to salty. Start with that Bricks and work your way up. True the customer is not always right, but when YOU mess up their order acknowledge it. read more

Up until closing the place was great. Good drinks, games, music. I will say some of the bartenders we're not attentive. One was fantastic the others were subpar. But once closing time came the staff started getting belligerent and threatening to forcibly removed us before close and before any of us closed out our tabs, which is unfortunate considering this bar has a mandatory 20% tip on unclosed tabs. This tactic may be to get the 20 percent without being polite or attentive to their customers. In short, good night out. Do not stay until close or it will leave you with a bad taste in your mouth. read more

One of four of the bartenders was attentive and good at his job and the rest were miserable and ignored me the whole time even though it wasn't so busy they couldn't serve me. 20 minutes before 0200 one of the bartenders was screaming shrill to get the fuck out. The bar staff is EXTREMELY rude at closing time. A female bartender yells in the most annoyingly shrill voice I've ever heard to "get the f*ck out" starting at 1:30AM then consistently every 5 minutes after, despite the fact that everything online reads 2AM. Security and barbacks are equally as rude, coming to each table and demanding that you leave around 1:45AM. Nice spot but definitely leave before closing (whatever time that actually is). read more

Not bad but not necessarily great either. I ordered the classic burger with bacon and a side of brick sauce. The brick sauce was really good and made a nice addition to the burger. The fries were hot and crispy just how I like them, but they were over seasoned. I mean there was so much seasoning on them I could not eat more than a few. My burger was pretty good, but about halfway through it started to taste really salty. May have been a combination of the bacon and the few fries I ate. I know they just opened so I'll probably give them another chance and just ask them to hold the seasoning on my fries. Update... I decided to go back and give the place another chance. I asked for my burger medium well and no salt on the fries. My food comes out and I can see overwhelming amount of seasonings on my fries, I was like ok I'll just eat around them. I go to cut my burger in half and notice that one side of the burger is sitting in grease and blood. Half of my burger was cooked and the other half wasn't (not sure how that happened). Not super impressive. I would give it a two but my husband enjoyed his burger so I upgraded it to a three. I ordered the hot bread'n'cheese which is essentially mass produced bread with a side of velveeta topped with green onions. We also had fried pickles, it was my first time ever having sweet fried pickles and it wasn't a welcome surprise. I do suppose that maybe sweet pickles are a southern thing? Not sure but I will definitely make it a point to ask for clarification on this in the future. read more
