We placed an online order at 6:56pm. Estimated time from time of ordering to be ready was 8:15pm (about an estimated hour and 20 min wait from them). I was already starving but assuming they are busy - ok, no problem. We get there, I go inside, and am standing in front of the bar for 35 minutes. Not one person acknowleged me as I awkwardly just took there the entire time. Finally I told them I was there and they said the kitchen is behind. I left and came back 20 min later. Waited 10 more min. All in all, our order for only 2 people took way over 2 HOURS. I can't see that ever being acceptable. I watched a waitress give a lady a hug inside the crowded restaurant as well. I watched the kid who put my food in the bag as he touched his face without a mask on. YUCK. Everything was unacceptable. Amazing!! We've been looking for a New Mexican restaurant and found this little gem in a town nearby. It was crowded on a Friday night but we only had to wait about 10 minutes for space at the bar to open up. The food is incredible. We got the ceviche for an appetizer and it was fresh, delicious and perfect for a summer day. I have been dreaming of it since. Then we ordered the enchiladas to share because we saw the huge portions coming out of the kitchen. The service is friendly and inviting. We can't wait to go back and try more! read more

Didn't get into having to dig out cash or card and simply added to our final bill. Ran into him the following day away from The Brick and he remembered us. Food was delicious. Quintessential hidden gem! Place is small and quaint on the inside but all the food packs some serious greatness. Handmade margaritas, with no mixers ever used, are a highlight and should be the first purchase in the restaurant. All the burritos are carefully crafted and unbelievably good. Went there to try out a place I heard about. Ordered the ceviche and let me tell you is was absolutely amazing. It was sweet a delicious and full of various types of seafood. I also ordered bbq chicken wings. The were crunchy and the sauce was delicious. The main entree was the Mexican skirt steak. It was delicious and sides, although small, were very good. Our 1st visit. The chairs are wicked comfortable. The food is awesome you can tell it's fresh from the start with the chips and salsa .. not sure why they ask "would you like more chips and salsa?" after we finished the 1st round in under 26.8 seconds. Wife had the tacos, she raved about them, I went the burrito route and was very happy. Only issue was the sick child that was sitting at an end table. She was talking to a server saying she didn't go to school because she was sick. I believe she was the child of someone that works there. We met a couple of friends here for dinner on a Friday night. There were four of us and we were seated at a six top. The food was good but nothing special in comparison to other Mexican restaurants I've been to. The first margarita I ordered was wrong but I drank what they gave me because the waitress was busy. Another person at my table ordered a margarita with no salt and got salt. We ate are our meals and had a couple rounds of margaritas with them. The waitress asked if we wanted anything else, we said no and immediately got the check. We paid the bill right away and were finishing up our conversation. Not five minutes after paying, one of the owners came over and asked us to leave because they had a reservation for the table. I worked in the restaurant business for 20+ years as a busser, hostess, waitress, bartender and prep cook and never, at any restaurant was It appropriate or was I ever allowed to ask a table to leave. I waited tables where the customers sat chatting an hour to two hours after their bill was paid. It was annoying and took up a table that I could have been making money on but that's just how the job goes. We were sitting there for FIVE minutes after getting and signing our slips and asked to leave. The situation should have been handled differently. When being seated they could have told us that a six top was open but had reservations at a certain time. We should have been given the choice to take that table knowing we had to leave by a certain time OR offered a different table when available. None of us will be returning since there are other options for Mexican with equal if not better food and certainly better service. read more

I get it was cinco de mayo and they were crazy I get it. I worked 8 years of my life in food service, I know all the prep you put into crazy days. Not too long of a wait to be seated.. like 20 mins.. what I'd expect today!! But once we were seated and ordered drinks I kid you not THAT took a half an hour!!!!!! UGH!! Food took a good hour at least to come out!! Wasn't that busy once we were seated. Us and another couple had the longest wait. My sister in law and I both got taco salads. I asked for no sour cream on my salad and got a big blob of it on my salad. Whatever I took it off just annoying after that long of a wait food was wrong. Also asked for sugar on rim of drink got salt. Salad was mediocre, not a lot of cheese and chicken and salsa on it. Didn't want to complain because at this point I just wanted my food. I feel more tired now after waiting 2 and 1/2 hours waiting for food then I did working all day. We have gone when wasn't crazy and was good but I'm all set for a long time now. read more

Ana-Karen was our server and she was terrific. Some servers are attentive and kind and mean it. That's exactly what she is. Dear owner/manager: give her a raise because, as the face of your restaurant, it's impossible to overestimate the importance of kind, competent and attentive servers. My wife and I brought our daughter and her husband here for her birthday. The portions were generous and the food was great. I had one of their house specialty pork dishes with rice, beans, diced (delightfully) red onions, guacamole and pico de gallo. Wife had the street tacos. Daughter had an amazing burrito and my son in law had a braised rib meal. Chips and salsa were fresh and the salsa was clearly homemade and unique. LOVE the rice. The pork was divine. Prices are generally all under $20. The decor is nice. Owner thanked us and bid us farewell. The food was fresh, hot and carefully made and plated. Love this place and we all look forward to going back soon. STAY JUST LIKE YOU ARE. Maddi's (in Worcester) got lazy fast; stay golden, Pony Boy. Two suggestions: watch the heat. Love this place! Somehow we never got around to trying it until a few years after it opened, and now we are making up for lost time and have been there on several occasions in the past few months. Both the food and drinks are made from scratch. My favorites are The Brick Tacos and the sugar-free margarita. We also love the fresh salsa and chips. We often make our own salsa at home, yet I'm tempted to ask them if I could bring a small container to purchase a to-go jar of their salsa - it's that good! It is tiny, and there is not a lot of parking, but we usually go earlier in the afternoon so that's never been an issue for us. read more

AMAZING... Second time back. Brick burrito is huge and tastes so good. We tried the Mojito's and those were the best I have had since I was in Miami. I had been looking forward to trying this restaurant for a couple weeks to celebrate my husbands birthday. In this peri-COVID-19 world we live in I knew we were required to wear a mask to our table & anytime getting up from it. We were treated nicely enough and placed a drink order and an appetizer. Looking around, the place was quaint and clean, but that there were reusable menus that looked in need of a wipe down. Our appetizer arrived from someone other than our server, we ordered lobster bites & ceviche. One of the lobster bites rolled off the plate and onto our table. He proceeded to use his bare fingers to grab it and drop it back on the plate. That's when we started to take note of the employees. The bartender and both cooks in the kitchen we not wearing masks at all. The owner, walking around the restaurant without a mask on but his black gloves, going in/out of restaurant never changing his gloves, our server had her mask on her chin when she was making drinks...both my husband and I work in medicine so we brought our concerns to the server, who apologized but did say the kitchen gets really hot...proceeded to mention the food being handled inappropriately by the young man and again she apologized. We realize that things happen and that this isn't the end of the world, and we were not being demanding in the least. Just expecting some semblance of standards. After 10m or so we watch the young man leave the restaurant and proceed to flip me the bird...the server had told him his mistake and I suppose he didn't take it well. Well that ended our adventure out to Sterling and we spoke to a manager who apologized but had said that the young man was "a good kid"...I was very much looking forward to a burrito that I will never have. Service needs work but much bigger picture is that they are doing our community a huge disservice by taking these health guidelines so lightly. Very disappointed. Wear your masks! read more

Stopped by this casual Mexican restaurant for lunch on a Sunday. The staff has been friendly and attentive on both occasions I've eaten here. The chips and salsa were decent, but not exceptional. I would have enjoyed one or two additional salsa for variety. For my entree I ordered the Brick Burrito which features pulled pork, rice, and all of the usual burrito goodies with a generous ball of guacamole dramatically on top. Delicious. I definitely recommend this fun and friendly place. A three-star rating for a casual food place is a strong recommendation from me. This is a cute little hole in the wall restaurant in the center of Sterling. It's cute and cozy inside. The food is made fresh to order. It was very fresh and delicious. I ordered the taco salad the first time but I probably wouldn't again. It's pricey and you don't get that much food. I was still hungry when I left. However, I decided to come a second time and ordered the chicken fajitas and they were so delicious. Served with plenty of food I left feeling satisfied. Definitely a great place to eat if you like fresh Mexican food. read more

First visit, Friday night. Quiet evening, not many customers. Staff was very welcoming, attentive and friendly. We started off with a margarita and mojito - both were perfectly made with fresh ingredients and top shelf booze - festively served up in fruit jars. Guac appetizer was great - fresh, nice portion, fairly priced. Fine homemade chips and salsa. Quesadillas and tacos were excellent - we ordered both with carnitas. Again, fresh ingredients (garnished with radishes - I like that!), tasty and generous portions. Thanks to Romina and Gabrielle we had everything we needed and there was absolutely no delay in service, as mentioned in earlier reviews. Absolutely great! House marg was fresh, from scratch, no artificial bs! Super friendly staff and the guy at the bar? Well you would never know he is not the owner! Fresh chips, fresh salsa which was not too spicy. Ordered The Brick Salmon, their signature dish. I was impressed that it was wild salmon! Salmon was unbelievably flavorful and the only bad thing I can say about the broccoli is that I wanted a pile more! I can't recommend this place highly enough! read more

Overpriced, food was nothing special (what little you receive) and service is sub-par. Ordered a Beef Fajita ($17) and a Vegetarian Fajita ($15). Never received any of the sides listed in the menu (rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream etc). Took 30 minutes to receive our meal; no appetizers ordered and we purposefully arrived early to avoid a Saturday evening crowd. Midway through the meal we asked the waitress for the sides that came with our meal. We were told that they didn't come with sides but we could order for an extra charge. We declined. After paying our check I happened to look at the menu by the cash register. When I pointed out the menu description included the sides, the waitress stated she had to talk to someone outback. She returned a few minutes later and asked if we wanted the sides to go. We declined. There was no offer to adjust our bill. As we were leaving, the waitress muttered an inappropriate comment which was overheard by a preteen in our party. Not worth a second visit . read more

The food was delicious (had chicken enchilada suizas), the servers were wicked nice, and the small size of the restaurant created a warm atmosphere. My only negative thought is the price. For a place like Sterling, it seems a bit steep in price, particularly for Mexican food. The Brick describes themselves as, "A little jewel of México in the heart of Sterling, MA." This is not hyperbole. The place just works on so many levels. First, the food is the best in the area, and that's high praise with tough competition like Zapata in Fitchburg. During my two visits, I've enjoyed the Brick Burrito and the Mexican Steak. Another reviewer mentioned the pork. Magnífico cerdo! The ribs appetizer is tantalizing, and the pork in the Brick burrito flavorful and tender. The Mexican steak was another taste bud pleaser and was cooked perfectly. Second, the margaritas. I recommend the Jalapeño version with a little added mango. Try a pitcher just to make sure. Third, the service. The staff seems to genuinely care for one another and the teamwork is noticeable. Our server, Diana was friendly with just the right amount of attentiveness. She was great to talk with and seems to genuinely enjoy her profession. Speaking of conversation, the owner, Victor somehow gets around to thank all of his guests, and while chatting with us, spoke highly of his competition. Finally, the ambiance. We arrived around 5:00 and the place was already hopping. The music, the Sox-Yanks on a big screen above the bar, and lots of conversation make for a fun and lively atmosphere. In a strange way, the noise level just seemed a perfect soundtrack to having fun during a very enjoyable meal. My only regret is finding out the place has been there for six years! Just moved to the area and heard from a local that The Brick had fantastic authentic Mexican food. I wasn't getting my hopes up since I've sought out real and delicious Mexican many times since moving east from Arizona over 5 years ago. I've always been disappointed. This was really, really GOOD! The margarita made from scratch was right on point. The warm, freshly made tortilla chips and salsa were the perfect appetizer. So far, so good. But how about the entree? I had the Brick burrito, their house favorite. Pork with verde sauce. First, it was HUGE. Definitely enough for two to share or to have lunch for the next day. And yes, finally!!! After years of looking for delicious authentic Mexican food outside of western US I found it. Everything tasted fresh and so very yummy. Although they are a little bit more pricey than your average Mexican restaurant it is so well worth it. They will be seeing me often! Oh, and my bartender's name was Karen (I sat at the bar to eat). After being seated and ordering the food it came an hour and 15 minutes later and one of the orders was wrong. The waitress only checked in once in the hour that we sat there. Went last night with a group of 8 people. None of us had been, but we all had heard about this lovely restaurant. We are ALL so glad to have found this gem!!! What amazing food, service and overall atmosphere!! The drinks were amazing...be ready to wait though as they are all freshly made. It is sooo worth the wait though! I had fajitas and they were amazing! Guac was good, nachos were great and the burritos were huge!!!! The Brick Mexican Grill in Sterling is a real find. It is off the beaten path unless you are a local, and if you are a local it is a great place to hang out. First i was surprised the Resturant is one of 6 (the only 6) businesses all connected on this little Main Street. Parking is on the street and there seems to be plenty. The inside is warm and very comfortable. Not pretentious at all. From the bar I had a strawberry margarita, they had many top shelf tequilas to choose from and that was a plus. The strawberries are mix is made in house and the drink was perfect. The food menu is large but not over extended. To cut to the chase, all items are made fresh, and to order. The mole sauce is made on premises and is delicious. The portions are generous but not over the top. The chicken enchiladas were excellent as were the fish tacos. The staff is warm and friendly and very tentative. Prices were not expensive i guess moderate is fair to say. I would go back there again and I recommend "The Brick Mexican Grill" to all.
