Clothes are fine I guess. Store is somewhat organized. However, I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN. the girls behind the counter (both brunettes with long ponytails) were SO rude and unprofessional. They were LOUDLY talking about their bf drama and about getting arrested?? While I was in the fitting room. So loud I could hear every word 15 feet away. I stood there for a long time waiting for someone to let me into a room. When I asked they just said "yeah yeah hang on." The person checking me out was really nice but it seemed the other girls were bullying them. The white girl with the long ponytail yelled "EXCUSE ME" behind them while they were checking me out and rolled her eyes. The other girl was loudly complaining to herself about how no one does their job right and "OMG I'm so annoyed right now." Girl I've worked in restaurants 15 years. Complain in the back like a normal person, not in front of the customer. Literally the only person acting professional was my checkout person (shorter, short brown hair, lots of cool bracelets.) what a disappointment. I visited Plato's Closets 3 times this year to sell clothing. It's a small store located across the street from JCPenneys. The parking lot is very small. The clothing in this store is very organized and of course they are well stocked since they purchase gently used items. The customer service at this store is good. The sales associate are young and friendly. They greet you upon arrival, and clearly state the selling process. This store claims that the only accept clothing in containers such as carts, totes, and storage bins. So, I have been turned away for bringing clothes in a shopping bag. But I have seen other sellers bringing clothes into this store in big garbage bags! So this practice is not fair or consistent in policy. They need to work on that store policy. I have brought totes in with about 50 items of clothing each time. My clothes are always new with tags and I purchased them from the junior's department of stores such as Macys, Carsons, JcPenny, etc. So my clothes are new and good quality. I can honestly say that this is not what they are looking for. They have never bought back any of my nice, higher quality clothing. They only want childish/ teenage looking, used clothing. It takes about 25 minutes for the selling process. They need time to pick through your unwanted items. The first time I sold at this store I made 35 dollars which is enough to buy a Family Size Beggars Deep Dish Pizza with sausage and green peppers. Very cool! They second time I sold there I made 18 dollars which was enough to buy a meal from Coopers Hawk. Pretty cool. The Third time I sold here I made 8 dollars, which was enough to buy some starbucks. Waste of time lol! So my advice to new potential sellers is to gather up clothes that look like teenagers would wear them. Sell them clothes that are gently used because they are not looking for new items. The clothes that this store sells look worn and are terrible shape in my opinion, so only take them used, raggedy clothes! Don't expect to make a lot of money. I would never purchase clothing here because I'm not into thrift items. I can tell you that their prices on these used clothes are kind of high for used items! I've seen shorts for $10, shoes for $20, and purses for $30. These clothes are for teenagers and young folks!!!! In conclusion, I don't plan on selling here again. It's easier for me to just donate these items to the Goodwill. The small amount of money that they offer is not worth the time or gas money. Lol story time.. I brought Nike techs in that I out grew. 9.5/10 out of ten for both jogging suits. Pants without jacket tops 8/10. Clothes fresh from the dry cleaners. I was denied for "droplets" of rain water. When I looked in my bag, everything was stuffed exactly how I put it in. It was a truly awful experience, I brought in two items of clothing that still had the tags on them, literally, namely, some pants from Banana Republic, and at least 13 to 15 other items of clothing, all relatively new or unworn. After I subtract it the pans from the two other items they offered before I realize that this BS company offered me four dollars for tag on low stain pants from Banana Republic with a $70 tag on them . I LOVE this Plato's Closet! I can always find a little something cute for myself and my daughters. You have to be patient in a store like this, though. Sometimes the racks are packed to maximum capacity. However, there is always a gem in there! I have gotten brand new shirts, slacks, scarfs, and purses for less than $5 or $10. One of the best days to shop at Plato's are during the "Grab Bag" events. This proves to be a really crowded shopping experience, but if you get there early, you will get THE BEST DEALS EVER! Come on guys, during the Grab Bag Event, you get every clearance item you can fit in that bag for like $10!!!! (see my picture). But, let me warn you, I believe the higher end, name brand items are well over-priced. This location often sells the WORST CONDITION UGGS or TERRIBLY PEELING NORTH FACE for inflated prices. But, at this location, you can also luck upon BARELY WORN UGGS or NORTH FACE for the same price! So, my advice is to be patient and stop in the store regularly to catch the real deal for the higher end, name brand items. Additional notes... This is a Great Store. The parking lot is not great. The staff are inconsistently friendly. The store is well-stocked. The items are typically in great condition (with the exception of a few things). read more

Awful! The staff is rude and dishonest! The store is stuffy, dirty and disorganized. The clothes look like garage sale clothes, very faded, and outdated looking. I left a bag of clothing of very trendy clothes for young women. Stuff from Dolls Kill, H&M, Hot Topic, etc. They told me they couldn't take it, that it was stained (no it was not, I take good care of my garments) and that it was outdated! My clothing was anywhere from 6 months to a year old and hardly worn. I left and checked my bag, the clothes were still folded and stacked the exact way I had brought them in! Don't waste your time going here and trying to make a buck! You'll walk out feeling insulted, and like you wasted you time and gas going there!... I'm not a shopper here, but I have sold plenty of new clothes with tags to them, and I will say that they are the least consistent PL out here. I don't know what kind of pricing format they follow, or if each girl there decides on their own, what they want to give you depending on their own taste... I sell my items online mainly, but if I need to get merchandise out of my house, so I can get new stuff, I'll take it there (all items are recent trends w/in 6 mos). Topically they give me between $3-$4 per workout/yoga pants (new with tags and retail range from $25-$45). Which isn't the best, but when you have 20+ pairs, it adds up, and I usually walk out with $50-$80. This last time I came in with over 35 pairs, all new w/ tags, and they offered me $22!!! That's less then .70 per piece!!! That's beyond ridiculous. I get that they have to buy cheap and sell higher to maintain their overhead, but that's straight robbery and a slap on the face. I mean I know they're hurting bad, and I wouldn't be surprised if they go out of business soon, but conducting business the way they are right now just shows that they're greedy, desperate, and could careless about their Seller's time, effort, and satisfaction. And I personally don't like doing business with ppl like that. I won't be going there anymore, and I'll be selling my items elsewhere. Good luck holding onto your sellers. I will never return here. It is such a scam. I brought in two bins full of clothes and they take five items and give me six dollars for it. The five items that they took cost at least 100 bucks when i first purchased them and they give me six dollars. Staff was so incredibly rude when I walked in. This place is an absolute joke. The clothes on their racks are pathetic and they turn down actual GOOD clothes. Today I went in with a huge box FULL of all kinds of items. Many name brands, BRAND NEW WITH TAGS Windsor, Bebe, Express, etc (just to name a few) and even some untouched Aldo and Guess shoes! They bought NOTHING. Said they had to turn down some of my items due to condition which is absolute bull because all of my stuff was pristine! Then another excuse was that it was all out of style. WHAT??? Um no. The crap hanging in their racks are out of style! While I was unknowingly waiting around to be rejected I did browse their clothes and I'm not even exaggerating when I say that I saw old faded MICKEY MOUSE shirts and Walmart brand clothes as part of their selection. Yet apparently my Windsor, Bebe and Express are not worthy to share the same shelves? Wow, okay. Noted. To be completely truthful I don't even think they went through all of my things. There's no way they would have turned down some of the things I had. Absolute clowns. This store is hideously run. I came here a few months back with a friend and the staff was awful back then too. I waited the hour wait I was quoted and came back. From the condition of my bins and bags that I'd brought, the girl at the desk saw 3 Eddie Bauer sweaters at the very top of the first bin and said nobody would want these old man men's brands and sent me packing. And people show up with 4+ bags (in garbage bags as well, and they claim to not bring garbage bags ?) and that's why the wait is so long. It's not efficient enough considering they don't have much staff either. I waited 2+ hours to get nothing. It's kinda disappointing, and then seeing what they sell is worn out and out dated. Plato's Closet ends up deciding to sell this item for $18 so much for shopping cheaper huh Even things that look awful that have scuffs, stains or rips, are priced almost the same price that you would get them if you bought them new. All items were new minus a few gently worn and CLEAN pieces. It looks like they only want to buy back garbage you can get off of the Kmart sales rack. Don't waste your time coming here. I went to Plato's at 2 and brought a whole basket of clothes. Place was so behind and there was like 2 workers. They told me to place my container in the back of the line of bags that was going past the door. They never told me I needed to fill anything out and I had to call myself to find out they didn't go through my stuff because there was no label that I needed to fill out. So I show up 4 hours later and my stuff is still sitting there and I had to fill out the form. I come back around 7 and they only took probably 1/10 of the clothes I had. Half of the clothing was from Plato's that I have never worn and they didn't take it. Said they had stains and were ripped and most of the stuff had tags and was in great condition. Tank tops, Jean shorts, basically everything I had picked out that a 17 old girl would wear. Great brands and stuff like that. Only got $10. Won't be going back there again. The fitting rooms were all closed when I went there at 2 and then all of a sudden they were now open when I came at 6. Same with the bathroom. Very annoying. They have a huge mountain of clothes sitting at the front it's a mess. Looking at clothes there you can't even push the clothes over because everything is so squished together. read more

Hi, I arrived to the platos closet today 10/9/21 at 5:22 PM, I was not greeted by anyone. I stood there while all the workers ignored me until eventually I was given attention, like I was bothering them. Ive been to platos closet before many times and know how it works. They told me it's a 4 bag limit, which I've never been told that before. I could tell they were already bothered by me even walking into the store for them to literally do their job. It took me about 4 minutes to fill out all the info and put all the stickers on my bag. They said I'll call you when it's ready. I left the store and not even a full minute went by when I got down the street and they called me saying my order was ready for pick up. I was extremely confused.... I asked her, the order I literally dropped off 1 minute ago? ... you went through it all already? And she said yes we went through it and it's old not the tags we are looking for. I responded and said, you went through ALL four of those large bags I just brought there? She responded and said they looked through the top of the 2 bags and it's not what we are looking for. I'm extremely upset with this situation. I drove an hour away just to go to this platos closet all to be treated extremely rudely, by who I think was in fact the manager of the establishment. They did not look through all the clothes at all, I have name brand items, new with tags, within 2 years old, that were mixed in with some items that could have been too old for them. The whole point of this place is to go through all items and pick the ones they want and they didn't do their job what so ever. They were too lazy to go through the bags. They were extremely rude to me the entire time and had by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They literally acted like I was a bother that they had to do their job. The women who helped me had a boot/cast thing on her leg, I did not get her name . She was an older, heavier set women with long dirty blond hair. It was my first time selling old clothes, and I brought in a couple of modern pieces to test the waters along with a friend of mine. After the sales associates said we had to wait an hour and a half for them to go through my grand total of two items, we knew that the store would likely disappoint. Not only did one of the employees openly mock me for not brining in loads of clothing, but when we came back we were told to wait an hour and a half more. In total, it took three hours. The efficient thing to do would have been looking at my clothing right away. It would have taken a minute. Instead of valuing our time, they prioritized all of the sellers with much larger quantities over what would have been a quick task. They rejected my friend's new pieces, and opted for a red sweater bought in 1991. I think that is very telling. I got an offer on a VS PINK hoodie for $5, which I rejected because of how rude the employees are. Needless to say, we will just donate to Goodwill instead of supporting this ungrateful business. read more

I went to the Orland Park , Il location to actually donate two brand new wallets purchased a week ago from Charming Charlie's. I was told one would purchase for 3 dollars and they did not want the other wallet. I then offered to just donate both wallets and the 3 dollars for the one wallet, I would Pay It Forward towards someone's transaction. I agree with all the costumer review about this trashy store. Their rate should be less than 2 stars (maybe 2 stars is enough for them). I went there 3 TIMES and I brought a nice and gently clothes with some fashion designer clothes also and they never except them. The last time I went there I give my items to the workers to check if they can except them or not, and then they told me that I have to wait 30 minutes to check them. I looked around the clothes that's on the store and they all seemed to be old and trashy clothes.
