Located within a plaza of stores, it was pretty easy to find the bakery. My boyfriend and I parked right outside then walked in. It's a cute shop with a glass case displaying all of their mochi flavors - there was a lot of options! I knew immediately it was going to be difficult to make a decision. I asked the lady working at the counter about their most popular flavors and she gave me some direction. From there, I picked out which flavors I wanted to try the most! I got chocolate, strawberry, mango, strawberry daifuku, and red bean with soybean powder on the outside. They have some instructions on how to maintain the integrity of the mochi, so as soon as I got home I put them in the fridge, That night, I was finally able to dig in! The mochi was very soft and had the perfect texture. I made sure to sample each flavor and was so stuffed. My favorite had to of been either the mango or the red bean with soybean powder. However, there were all very delicious! If you find yourself in the area, it's definitely worth giving this cute mochi shop a go! :)

The service has always been good, and they are consistently fast and helpful with their customers. They have a huge selection, but of course, you can't forget their famous strudel--definitely something worth trying! This place is also special to me because they made my wedding cake back when the original owners were still around. It's great to see that the new owners have continued the tradition while making a lot of nice upgrades to the business. I can really appreciate the improvements. Overall, great quality, good service, plenty of selection, and a business with history. It may cost a little more, but in my experience, it's well worth it. Definitely worth stopping by and giving them a try!

My sister usually picks up our orders for parties and events. My biggest issue with Hans & Harry's has always been the inconsistency. I'll try something that is absolutely delicious, order it again, and the next time it's just not as good or doesn't taste as fresh. Then I'll move on to something else, love it, and eventually have the same experience. I still keep coming back because they have such a huge selection and, when something is good, it can be really good. Unfortunately, the inconsistency in taste, freshness, and quality can be disappointing. The cherry turnover has been my one reliable favorite that has never disappointed me. Today I ordered a custard pastry shaped like a turnover and a walnut cinnamon braid. Unfortunately, neither tasted particularly fresh, and both were very doughy. The custard filling itself was delicious, but the pastry was much more like a sweet bread than the light, flaky pastry I was expecting. When I asked the employee about it, he didn't really explain that it was more of a sweet bread; he simply agreed that it was fluffy. Had I been craving a sweet bread, I might have enjoyed it more. The walnut cinnamon braid was even more disappointing. One bite was enough for me to decide it wasn't worth the calories! I wanted that first bite to be full of cinnamon, butter, and walnuts--the kind of bite that makes you immediately want another. Instead, it was bland and doughy. Unfortunately, I've experienced the same inconsistency with their cakes and fruit strudel, which I order regularly for parties. Sometimes they are absolutely to die for, and other times they're just not that great. There's obviously a reason I continue coming back: Hans & Harry's has an incredible variety, and I know how good their desserts can be. I just wish the freshness and quality were more consistent from one visit to the next.

We were searching for some retro candy for an upcoming event. The warehouse isn't huge, but it is big for a candy store. It is really for buying cases of bulk candy. It is not a cutely displayed vintage candy store, but it also does not claim to be. It was a really good place to get the bulk of the candy we needed for the event. Everything was sold in large amounts. We picked up some items such as jawbreakers, candy cigarettes, Big League Chew, and Now and Laters. I did wish some times came in more of a variety pack and that others came in slightly smaller portions. We did decide to buy some of the items elsewhere because we simply didn't want that much of one flavor of a certain type of candy. I think it is a great place to buy candy in bulk, though I do think the variety could be a bit better. All in all, it was a useful trip for us to prepare for our event.

The icing was better on the chococream, but the cake was pretty dry and didn't have much flavor to it. On the other hand, the cake part on the chocobombon was moist and the cherry gave a nice flavor, but the icing was way too sweet. Pretty pricey for less than average cakes. They have a big variety of cakes all ready to go in their cake display. I chose the chocobombon since they didn't have any all vanilla cakes and this one had some vanilla in it and my husbands favorite is vanilla. I really liked that they had candles and cake decorations as well in the store and I bought a few Birthday embellishments which were all $1 each, great price! The staff was nice but not too friendly when I was trying to find out more about the cakes and flavors, I had to read the labels since she didn't provide me any details. The cake was just okay, it was very dense and a bit dry. The marshmallow frosting was a little thick and the overall flavors were definitely different but not sure I would get this flavor again. I would like to try a few more flavors and maybe a tres leches cake to see how those are. It is located in Chula Vista in a small shopping center, limited parking available.
