First time here. We were greeted with a friendly "Hello!" from the smiling young woman behind the counter. I especially noticed the cleanliness of the place. My husband and I both ordered the chicken shawarma plate, which included rice, hummus, salad with tomatoes and pickled turnips, garlic sauce and a large pita. We received our order in less than 10 minutes. The portions were just right and quite generous without being "too much". We left feeling very full. As for the quality of the food, it was all fantastic! The rice was perfectly cooked, the hummus was smooth and a little oily. The salad was fresh with crisp veggies, the chicken was tender and juicy (and plentiful!) and the garlic sauce was strong and amazing!! Everything was seasoned to perfection. I had three people recommend The Broilers for a good lunch while having my car worked on last week, so why not? Located next to a Subway sandwich franchise and adjacent to a very busy four-way intersection, The Broilers serves its entrees via cafeteria-style (in my opinion) with plates upon dining in. I had the chicken shawerma plate with hummus and vegetables, which was a safe bet considering that this was my first time at this location. As expected, the shawerma was fine, and the vegetables were extremely palatable. The hummus? Well, it was okay, yet nothing to do cartwheels over. I wound up taking three dips of it with bread and just dismissing it as so-so due to it having a very bland taste at the time. With a bottle of water, the meal costed just over $11, which was not bad at all. The seating area is sufficient and comfortable, and you will see quite a bit of traffic during the lunch hours of 12-2 pm. I noticed that there were quite a few people coming in to pick up to-go orders, which is a good thing. Despite the ratings I decided to try this place out because 1. I was starving and 2. Gyros sounded good for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Gyro plate which was Gyro meat over a bed of lettuce, tomatoes and onions, served along with a side of hummus, rice pilaf and 2 pitas all for about 14 bucks. I honestly though it was delicious. It came with some garlic sauce and cucumber sauce. I would def come here again. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the gyros meat, although tender, I feel was sliced from the spit and broiled which crisped it up on the edges and was more crisper than uber tender and fresh as it should be. 4 stars. read more

This Broilers is definitely way better in regard to flavoring than the other one I visited. The kebab was absolutely to die for and the Yalanchi tasted just like my grandmother's. I really liked it here... A LOT. The only reason I gave it a lower score was because the girl at the register who took our order was very rude and very loud. When I was placing my order she kept cutting me off to ask me questions instead of waiting until I was finished ordering. She seemed to be a bit on the grouchy and defensive side which didn't really sit well with me. Anyway, regardless of Ms. Grumpy Pants... I am still going to make return visits. Wow, today was the worst experience I've had at a Broilers, and the one to put me over the edge regarding continued patronage. I ordered the chicken plate, my husband the beef. The bill was nearly $25. If someone charges more than $12 per plate for fast food it had better be outstanding. This was not. The flavor was not awful, that is the best thing I can say about our meals. My chicken was nearly shredded, the pieces were so small. For some reason, the pita was wet on one side and hard on the other. My husband was even less pleased than I, he thought the beef was quite bland, lacking much taste at all. Ummm.... don't make fun of me. I normally order my "gyro" at Jack in the Box. And the only other time I would eat it, is when my mom would make it for me. So when I ordered it here, I was slightly surprised that I got lamb. I know, I know, shut-up. The gyro comes with cucumber, lettuce, tomato, onion, the dill sauce and LAMB on the pita. At first bite, the sauce seemed too overpowering, but I got used to it, and it ended up being pretty yummy. As for the lamb, okay, it's good. A little bit more soft than my usual chunks of beef, but eatable. :) I ate it warm, but my sister told me that cold lamb tastes like butt. I'm not quite sure what butt is supposed to taste like, but I kept on shoveling the pita in my mouth before it got cold so that I wouldn't find out. read more

I always get the gyro plate and it doesn't disappoint. My husband always gets the chicken shawerma plate, and this time he wasn't too pleased. Maybe his portions were shaved from the center portion of the chicken breasts (they're stacked up on a vertical skewer, then shaved off) as they were nearly flavorless shards of chicken. Couldn't taste the normally yummy seasoning/marinade. The portions are always generous and you won't leave hungry. This has always been one of my very favorite restaurants in Fresno, I picked up salads, extra chicken and a large hummus to take to a friends house in Coarsegold. Such a bummer to find there was no hummus in the bag when we got all the way up there. On my way back down to Fresno I called to see if I could run in and pick up the hummus they owed me. They told me no, and that the chef remembered putting it in the bag. What?? I thought she was kidding, I still have the bag because we only ate one salad and there is still no hummus in it. It's been years since I visited a Broilers and was in the mood for something a little different today. What I remember was a tasteful and large plate of food, delicious chicken, and fresh pitas. Today will be a different memory. I know things are tough for restaurants right now, but there's nothing less appealing than multiple signs up front laying out every quarter, seventy five cent, and dollar upcharge. The food is great, the single star review is service. I have been to this location a few times since it's close to my work and the service has been awful every time. The girls that work the front clearly have no idea what customer service is. Both girls are behind the counter doing other things while people enter and stand in line waiting to order...they say nothing and continue to do their task. Finally one of them will look up and say "order" as though you are interrupting their day. They ask you nothing, tell you nothing, and seem as if you have completely derailed their day by coming in. *updated: came in again, been about a year from my last visit and little has changed. The service is just as bad as it was a year ago. I didn't post my initial review becuase I don't typically like to post such a negative review, but todays repeated bad service was it. When we are in the let's- not- cook mood, we frequently go to Broilers. They say they are open till 8 pm. We decided we wanted Broilers tonight. We tried to call it in but no one would answer the phone. So we drove over there. We arrived there at 7:35 tonight. People are in there but the door was locked. We flagged down an employee and asked to get in. They said no. They are closing early tonight. This is the second time we arrived within the posted hours to be locked out. I normally enjoy eating here but my last visit will have me thinking twice before returning. Came here with my fiancee on 6/22/22 at 738 PM. The workers were more concerned with conversating with each other and pushing out our order quickly before their 8PM closing time-- hinting that we should not be eating inside and starting to turn all the chairs in the dining room upside down on the tables. My fiancé kindly asked if we could eat outside and we were told of their closing time again. STRIKE 1. We bought drinks, except the soda machine for their Sierra Mist was out of syrup. No lemons either sitting out for the iced tea I decided on. Kindly asked the girl at the counter if I could get a few lemon wedges for the iced tea. Was told they don't carry lemons? Funny, I've had my iced tea with lemons always here before. STRIKE 2. We finally get our food and have no choice but to take the food we just ordered and eat in my fiancée's truck. We get to the truck when I discover their is no ketchup in the bag for the fries in my order, not was it even offered before we were given our food--forcing me to walk back inside to this dreaded place. STRIKE 3. We wanted to enjoy a nice dinner out, but we decided to take the food home to eat vs sitting and eating in 90+ degree weather outside in a truck. When we got home, the beef in my meal was as tough as leather hockey pucks. Epic fail on all levels possible. Absolutely disgusting food! I don't understand how there called Mediterranean when the food is not even close to Mediterranean. The rice are awful and they use jasmine rice and the chicken (they only give you 3 peices of kabob chicken) too salty and oily. The gyro tastes like a subway sandwich. Do yourself a favor and avoid!
