The Brunch Spot is really good! I loved my French toast and eggs. They have a bakery next to them which has cookies, muffins and all sorts of goodies! I like what they did with the place too. This is truly a family restaurant. Especially if you have an elderly family member. It is easy to enter the parking lot. Handicap spots are available under shade trees. Quick walk to the front door. Smooth sidewalks... no cracks or tripping hazards. Tables close to the front door. Restrooms are clean and large. Lots of natural light. Staff is friendly, helpful, and patient. Food is really good. I visited on a Sunday after church (11:00 am). The place was packed so I was expecting a wait and really good food. Sadly, I got the wait but really bland food. I was by myself so they sat me at a window bar seat and left me alone for 20 minutes. No one acknowledged me at all. Ni water, nothing. Just when I was about to get up and leave, a waiter came and asked if I had ordered yet? I ordered a coffee and the chicken & waffles plate. The coffee came right away. The food was another 15 minutes. The chicken was okay, rather greasy. The waffle was bland like they forgot the salt in the batter. I saw the waiter twice, when he brought my coffee and my order. I got the dine and donate meal; two eggs, one pancake, one sausage , one bacon, one ham slice with a side of 2pc chicken with an orange juice. Orange juice was goooood. Chicken seasoned really well. Really crunch. Pancake was 10/10!!! Idk what they put in the batter but it was amazing. Nice spot. No long wait, at the time I went. Prices was decent OH, I got the dine and donate bc I thought it was great that they donate 20% to charity. Hopefully that's what they're doing. Customer service was amazing also. First let me say our waitress was a 5 star. Nadia provided great service and made up for the restaurant's short comings. Food and drinks were descent. The shrimp and sauce were flavored, but oil sat on top of the grits, and the grits had no seasoning at all. The sauce and shrimp had flavor. Service would have been a 1. We were first seated and last to have someone come help us. Then my friend noticed we weren't seated with everyone else. Literally ppl coming in were seated over in the "whites only" section. They literally were all white ppl...lol. we were black n Mexican, tell you it be your own ppl. Idk if that was intentionally or what, but not a good observation for a first time. I'll go back to see if it was just a fluke. My other friend and his wife went back to back and recommended other items to try. This was my first time at the Brunch Spot. I saw this place consistently pop up on my "For You" page on TikTok. It seemed to have great reviews so I added it to my list of restaurants to try. My niece told me she tried it and it was okay. So, I went in with hesitation because I've heard mediocre reviews. So, i told myself if this place gives off IHOP food (and I'm not a huge fan of ihop) then my review will reflect that. The food was exactly that, just mediocre. The waiting system is dated because they write down your number & name and will call you if you don't do a reservation. So, i said after they told me it was going to be a 25 min wait, this food better be worth the wait. I waited 30 mins and was seated. Our waitress was Ashley, which she did a good job. I just wish we would have already had our silverware and condiments before we got our food. The food was placed on our table but we had to ask for silverware, more syrup and hot sauce. My mom wanted coffee with hazelnut creamer. They didn't have hazelnut cream for coffee but Ashley suggested other options. My mom just canceled her coffee order. I ordered the waffle plate which the waffle was good but soft. I notice everyone is doing reviews on here and showing they get a full strawberry on the waffle, but they gave me half a strawberry which i didn't make a big deal out of it but im just curious why we got bare minimum effort. My niece had the chicken & waffle which she said it was alright. But my other niece had the Latte (hazelnut & caramel) and she said it was good and My sister had the grits and omelette and said it was 9/10. All of the other food we got (which was the chicken/waffle, pancake plate and waffle plate) was ihop approved in which we still could've gotten it from ihop. Overall, i was going to give this place a 3/5, but it wasn't until the owner came over at the end to check on us was when things got weird. She was friendly but when she asked us if we tried the shrimp & grits, my mom told her she was allergic to shellfish. This doesn't mean she doesn't like seafood (which people don't listen to comprehend the word ALLERGIC) for she would eat it if she wasnt allergic. The owner kept saying her dad can eat catfish and salmon as if that should apply to everyone. Her tone was a bit abrasive and my mom hates when people don't listen to her when she tells them she's allergic to shellfish because it can be deadly. So, if you wanted us to try the seafood and the smell gets in my mom's lungs and she has an allergic reaction, what would you do? I'm sure you don't want to go out business when you just opened. So, i would suggest to be more sensitive to customers when they open up and explain to you why they can't eat something when their allergic. It's giving because we are black, she thought we would order it. Not all black folks eat catfish and overall seafood. I won't come back after that. Her daughter did a good job waiting our table. I just can't do the owners condescending tone. The parking is so limited and tight. I've lived in this area for a while and knew the parking was questionable when i saw they were bringing this restaurant to that area. The chairs in the back are very hard, uncomfortable and you'll be sliding down them. I can tell they didn't put much thought into the spacing or seats. My son took us here for an early Father's Day meal. Saw good reviews. First parking is daunting task here. It is a small place that is a bit packed with tables . The interior is clean and tidy but the lighting is a bit dim and feels cave like if you are seated not by the windows in front. I had to use my iPhone flashlight to see the menu. We greeted by our very polite young man, but he seemed a bit awkward and unsure of himself and at times a bit hard to understand because of the background noise of the other tables so close by. To be fair I'm a bit hard of hearing. My son got brunch bowl, husband waffle plate with scramble eggs and bacon and I got the veggie omelet with grits and biscuit. My son had asked for no mushrooms and the add ons of avocado and bacon and cheese. When our food arrived we had no utensils, no syrup, no butter for the waffle and none of the add ons my son had requested on his breakfast bowl. When they brought utensils we were given only a fork in a plastic sleeve.. Our server at this point had kinda of disappeared and we had to ask for coffee refill from other servers. When we asked for syrup, butter, hot sauce and strawberry jam it was brought fairly promptly but the hot sauce had tsp left in the bottle and at some point they had to come and get the strawberry jelly for another table.. not sure why they seemed so hard pressed for condiments. So service needs some improvement although no one was rude and someone was always close by to back up the holes in the service. The food however was very good and tasty. My husband's waffle was cooked to his liking and he is very picky about his waffles. My veggie omelet was packed full of fresh veggies, my homemade biscuit was nice a flakey and my grits were creamy , buttery perfection . The owner, Tabby came to all the tables to engage with her customers and she was absolutely lovely. I would come back again cause the food was delicious and reasonably priced but I hope you could make sure all your ducks are in a row when it comes to service. We really did not see our server much after we got our food until we paid our bill but again there were other servers nearby that were very responsive to any of our needs. read more
