It was my first time here and I was a bit skeptical because of the low reviews but I definitely was very happy with my food and service! The fish tacos were delicious and huge. My sister loved her breakfast too. Sadly, the weather was absolutely terrible to the point of us having to leave and pack up our food so we didn't get to explore the location which was beautiful! The whole place was very family oriented and it seemed like there was quite a bit to do. I would recommend this place! read more

Buffalo Grille was already going downhill since they moved from the Buffalo Speedway location. Under new ownership we will not be returning. Pros: simplifying the wall menu and removing the TVs. Cons: everything else. When placing our order, I pointed out the very large cockroach crawling across the all tile wall behind the cashier. She looked and said, "oh" and then asked for my order. The removal of the drink/condiment/utensil station also meant no more cosy side by the fireplace. Its one big open room now. We used to come mostly because the kids liked it but they couldn't even finish their food. Instead of fruit on top or the side of the pancake--they had strawberries in the batter--resulting in undercooked wet spots. The hash browns they previously loved were coated (no exaggeration) in black pepper. None of the adult dishes were good either. All of them looked and tasted like the cooks could care less. There is no love at Buffalo Grille. read more

Good location. Abundant outdoor seating. Inexpensive, especially for the area. Those are the positives. The food, in my opinion, fell short. Undercooked over easy eggs with runny whites. That's just nasty. Undercooked hash browns too, which are of the mass-manufactured, pre-frozen kind not cut at the restaurant and quite devoid of flavor. I give them credit for not pre-salting the hash browns though, this is appreciated. Bland, small English muffin without "nooks and crannies". And yes the bacon is thick cut but it was tough like shoe leather and tasted little better. Kitchen service was speedy but considering how things were undercooked that's par for the course. Also, you have to go inside to place an order - there is no wait service at all - inside or out. I guess this is good enough for some but I was disappointed. read more

First off - dog friendly outside in the patio area and the sidewalk. Second - the omelet doesn't look pretty but it's mucho delicious. It was more of a scrambled egg medley of stuff and my stuff was grilled onions, tomatoes and sausage. I also had the lovely big biscuit - homemade, fluffy and good. The omelet was exceptional also, but that wonderful homemade biscuit was so lovely. Fluffy just add some more butter and jam of your choice- oh happy day! Back to the egg scrambled omelet, very good, onions very well sautéed and the tomatoes were diced nicely. Plenty of sausage so nothing skimpy here. I had plenty to share with Cleo and she also approved of the omelet and the biscuit. They did not have a dog bowl but did provide a take out container that I used for dog water. I would definitely return for the non-traditional omelet. read more

Great place for lunch! They have a delicious Buffalo burger I usually have it w sweet potato fries! It's my absolute favorite. The sweet potato fries are crunchy and soft, absolutely mouth watering. Also, first time trying their fried okra which did not disappoint! The place has outside and inside sitting, the staff is always making sure the restaurant is clean, usually sweeping and immediately cleaning tables that are freed. This place is a very good to go to anytime of the day! Morning menu and lunch menu. It's huge inside ! And they have a seating section outside as well. When you first enter there may be a line but they provide paper menus as you see in the pics to read before you make your way up to the cashier at the front ! It is also displayed on the walls ! The pork chop were DELICIOUS. Crunchy and moist ! I honestly could pass on the Mac and cheese..potatoes were very good! The breakfast order was delicious hash browns weren't so eye appealing but tasted very good ! The bacon. Omg that bacon! Definitely recommend! Staff was very nice ! Buffalo grille is more of a get up on your own and grab your drink,napkins, and condiments. No one was walking around all the time checking on anyone. Which I'm okay I'm with personally. Houston favorite of mine of 20 years for a casual diner spot. I'm also a coffee lover and the cinnamon coffee is their signature.

The best thing, they serve breakfast all day. Wonderful fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy thick bacon, and English muffin. This is our favorite.

I used to love buffalo grille, but it's gone downhill since the new Adair ownership (unfortunately cliche I know) Maybe I went on a bad day: The person I was with ordered eggs and they were overcooked. She went to send them back and we realized a lot of people had sent theirs back, so had to wait again for food. The pancakes weren't as good as I remembered. A rubber-ish texture. The workers seemed flustered understandably, and wasn't a good experience for anyone. This place lost its touch. I'm going to empire cafe instead. read more

A while back we had a really disappointing experience with the food and the fact they'd removed the chilaquiles from the menu. The manager responded and said they'd added chilaquiles back to the menu. I can happily say they're back, and I actually think they may be better than the original! Small change with the spicy tortilla mix as it seems to have a bit more chunky, but it works well. It's fantastic and everything seems to be back to normal. Well done Buffalo grille and thank you for adding the chilaquiles back. So good. read more

So so sad about the new ownership!! The food is HORRIBLE now. I used to love this place and had lunch there once a week when I worked around the corner. They used to have the best chicken salad sandwich in town and now it's awful. Ordered today and the entire thing was bad. They completely changed the recipe and it's terrible. And the fries were sloppy and undercooked. Only enjoyable part of my meal was the bottled Mexican Coke. Won't be back. So sad after so many years read more

Huge portions of calorie-rich comfort food in a casual atmosphere. I've gone a couple of times with friends after church and tried the tamales with chili and the chilaquiles. One dish is enough to last two, if not three meals! Everything really is bigger in Texas. Sunday afternoons are pretty busy, but I've always been able to find seating. When your food is ready they say your name over the sound system, which can give the place a bit of a bustling, chaotic food. There are TVs inside as well as a cozy fireplace. Food portions were large, service was fast, and the ambience was everything like a diner. My favorite is their breakfast!

Buffalo Grill used to be an unpretentious place where you could get a consistently good and large plate of food. With the acquisition by Adair the consistency and portions have definitely taken a hit. The standby "3B" of eggs with cheddar and bacon now often comes with mostly uncooked bacon and just a smattering of cheese. Portions which used to overfill a plate now leave lots of empty space on the china. No more marmalade. One piece of toast. Some things change for the better. Not here. read more

The service from Mariana and Kat was great. Both were nap friendly and helpful as this was our first visit. We made it time for Happy Hour which was a plus. The shrimp were delicious, cornbread was really good, the baked potato was humongous and delicious, the chicken fingers were delightful, the Chicken Quesadillas were good , but not spicy enough. Overall the 6 of us enjoyed the atmosphere and the food and will return. We do recommend stopping in. They also had a live band playing soft tunes. read more

My husband and I came here for brunch on Sunday morning, and this was our first and last visit. The food was awful. I had a build your own omelet, and the eggs were overcooked and rubbery. We also ordered a blueberry pancake to share, and it literally still had raw batter in the middle. Then, my husband's hashbrowns appeared to be grayish instead of the crispy brown outer edges you'd expect. Our table was near a wall where there was a cockroach crawling up it. We moved to a different table, then looked at our gross unappetizing food, and decided to just leave and eat somewhere else. I wish I had taken a picture of that roach and the raw pancake to post. Awful!! With all of the food offerings in Houston, The Buffalo Grill doesn't feel the need to step things up a bit by serving good food, nor do they care about the cleanliness of the establishment. I'm about to run afoul of many Elite Yelpers who have not been as kind to The Buffalo Grille as I am about to be. Typical to my reviewing a business I try to look optimistically at the establishment not because I have any particular bias for any particular business but simply because I understand the value of sweat equity, try to find the the essence of what the founder was trying to convey, evaluate objectively the service and examine thoroughly the product. In the case of the Buffalo Grille I find it hard to imagine that I have not reviewed it for as many times as I have been there especially when I lived in Bellaire. The Grille has been in operation at this location for (and I just looked it up) 34 years which is an achievement in Houston when many restaurants last about the equivalent of the life-cyle of a blue bonnet which if you are not from Texas is not very long. You might think that perhaps that Houstonians are like lemmings and follow each other because the alpha leads them (BTW lemming mass suicide is a contrivance of Disney-look it up) which is anything but true, especially in this area of town when it comes to restaurants. Secondly, on weekend and some weekday mornings there are still lines and Houstonians are not known for their patience...drive during rush hour if you doubt me. The breakfast faire is quite eclectic, tends toward Southern but includes Tex-Mex or versions thereof, has delicious pancakes and biscuits and gravies and grits...etc. Remember I have been there many times so it is difficult for me to suggest a specific meal as I have had many and they are all reliably good and reasonably priced for both the quality and serving portions....and have bottomless coffee options all fresh brewed. The staff is exceedngly efficient, cashier/order taker, cooks and bus staff which is all there really is since they call you to the counter to retrieve your own food...with the exception where they have made a mistake...I have seen them bring food to the tables. Lastly, the table situation. They are not the table police-people do cut in line (told you Houstonians wre not patient) and have a party member grab a table before they even put in order so yes...admittedly...sometimes people don't follow the rules which is neither shocking nor reason to critcize, the food is good an people want to have a table wherein they may consume said food...it is indicative of the quality of the restaurant...and how popular it is. read more

We visit Buffalo Grille about once a month or so. We used to love the chilaquiles & bacon here but it seems the new management has changed the recipe of the chilaquiles & we aren't big fans of it anymore. The proportion of eggs to the tortilla chips is very unbalanced (there are too many tortilla chips now, less egg, pronounced sweet tomato flavor that didn't exist in the last owner's recipe & the sour cream is runny). The bacon strips were fatty but not crispy at all. I also noticed my child's pancake was undercooked where the fruit pieces were located (how incredibly unappealing to have spots of raw pancake batter on your pancake). I guess we have to find a new favorite brunch place. read more

My wife and I have been going to Buffalo Grill once a week, for many years. They were great. For the past month or so, their coffee has been cold. They can't get their vendor/supplier (Duncan) to respond to fixing their equipment. They have messed up our orders several times, and we have complain each time. Reading what you said, I agree that it is about time for us to go elsewhere. We've given them plenty of time to correct their problems. I am sure that they will miss our big (20%) tips. We'll try again in a year, or two. As the saying goes, "Ignorance is bliss." Also, I just read this on Nextdoor-Bellaire app. "I just had breakfast at Buffalo Grill, what a horror. I simply ordered 2 eggs with hash browns and toast. The eggs were done fine, the hash browns were a gray greasy mess, my piece of toast was rock hard, you only get 1 piece of toast, The word fresh couldn't be used for anything on my plate. The toast is probably made early and left waiting to be ordered. The first plate I returned because of the gray potatoes only to get a second piece of rock-hard toast and more gray potatoes. Good for a diet. The food was inedible. I've been watching the place go downhill, I have been there many times, I will certainly never go back. It is NOT what it used to be." What is going on? This place has been around for a long time and has a loyal following, especially for the police and neighborhood locals. I've visited a few times over the years and obviously they don't really have the long lines like they used to. There is a Money magazine clipping near the restroom from like 1987 where they were listed as Best Breakfast in Houston. Since that time, the number of breakfast spots in Houston has exploded and BG can't really ride on that horse anymore. For me and many others, Buffalo Grille may be more convenient, dependable and comforting. Their portions of American food are large and the prices are fair. Nothing I've ever had made me say wow, but I've always left with a full stomach. Tip: If you're ordering juice for breakfast, get the large! The small size is ridiculously small. read more

Went there yesterday for lunch with my wife and older daughter. Been going there for lunch and breakfast for over 20 years. But this is the first time I have been back under the new management. Sad!! Not the same people, not the same food. My go-to was #13, which was two grilled chicken breasts smothered in cheese and pico with a side of spanish rice and cornbread. It is not on the menu. And the new huge menu is missing prices. No longer meatloaf and several other items. I selected the club sandwich, my daughter had the BLT with okra, and my wife had a hamburger steak with okra and fries. Usually know for their great bacon. The BLT was two sad pieces of toast with tomato and lettuce and just a hint of bacon. The club was not the typical triple stack, but just two pieces of bread with turkey, and again, very little bacon. My wife's HB steak had only onions, no gravy. This version of the Buffalo Grille is forgettable. Why mess with a Houston institution!! read more

Service is EXCELLENT! Food is average quality at best! ALL is cooked in WAY TOO MUCH "old" grease!!! Mostly all Sysco pre-prepared foods just heated up, not much original, or of food grade quality, or dietary choices such as keto or gluten-free. Such a shame this Houston restaurant "institution" in keeping with their traditional options should offer in this modern day more quality foods like angus / grass fed burgers and alternative dietary options like keto and gluten free! read more
