Got here at 7pm, didn't sit until 7:20pm. there's 2 hosts at the stand, one host was helping us, the other was helping another party, our host told us to wait a minute as we were standing next to the host stand. The other host said "you're in the way, move that way". It kinda made my blood boil a little when she said that. I didn't say anything since we were there to celebrate my birthday. 2 seconds later our hosts comes back and takes us to our table, the same direction I was standing and just been told to move..... Our server an older lady, was very nice and kind. She also had a very nice smile! I complained to her about the host and she said sorry on that hosts behalf and gave us complementary drinks which was nice of her to fix the problem. The Buffet at Hyatt took away the one differentiating factor of their buffet, which was that it was a Korean themed buffet with galbi, ssam, and other specialty dishes. Imagine our surprise when we arrived and saw that they had changed their theme 10 days prior without any notice and had taken away most of their specialty meat, replacing it with prime rib. The meat table was half the size and the options were sparse with no change to the price. The rest of the food was so mediocre and there was nothing we ate that stood out. The sashimi and poke were not fresh, the raw oysters were unappetizing creamy. The hot crab was good but wasn't available until near the end of our meal. The desserts were also not great and the ice cream they have in the container were all melted. Service was amazing as usual at the Hyatt Regency and was the only saving grace for the underwhelming food. All in all, this was a very disappointing experience. read more

At over $100 a person, I expected this to be the second. We came here to celebrate Father's Day, my birthday and our anniversary. Watching the sun set over Waikiki with live music in the background is the experience you'd hope for. If you're paying for atmosphere, this place delivers. The food was much more uneven. The sushi was surprisingly one of the strongest parts of the meal. Fresh, well made and worth going back for. I also appreciated that the shrimp cocktail was properly cleaned and cooked. Desserts across the buffet were mostly forgettable, but the complimentary anniversary/birthday cake they surprised us with was genuinely excellent and a thoughtful touch. The disappointments were unfortunately the items most people come here for. The prime rib looked beautiful but ate tougher than expected. Even the rarer slices lacked that buttery texture you hope for and the au jus was so thin it tasted more like seasoned water than a proper jus. The snow crab was the biggest letdown of the evening. It was overwhelmingly salty, to the point where the natural sweetness of the crab disappeared almost entirely. After a few legs, I simply stopped eating it. Service landed somewhere in the middle. The hosts seemed a little disorganized when we arrived and there was some confusion around our reservation. Our server was polite enough, but the experience felt transactional rather than warm. Drinks occasionally sat empty longer than they should have and for a meal at this price point, those little details start to matter. I left thinking this wasn't a bad buffet. It just wasn't a memorable one. For the money, I expected ingredients that spoke for themselves rather than a buffet built around volume. The view is wonderful. The sushi is legitimately good. We spent my birthday meal here and I was so ecstatic! First, this place gets really crowded really fast. I strongly recommend making a reservation. Second, the options are more limited but the quality of the food is really good especially if you are here for seafood and meat. The vibe is nice too - more intimate with smaller tables. Not much of a group setting but great for couples. My favorites: Snow Crab!!!!: it was so fresh and succulent. You can grab a cracker and a tool to take it out but honestly it comes out super easily. It was perfect with butter but honestly didn't even need it because it was so juicy. Would go again to eat crab. Galbi: Freshly grilled and perfectly marinated! The smell is always wafting throughout the hotel because of the open air atmosphere but it was so good. The buffet is a little bit hard to find. It's located in the Hyatt but all the way towards the top and top the back so it can be confusing. I had to ask someone for directions to get there. If you plan on coming make sure to make reservations otherwise you may not be able to get in. I didn't have one but told them I'm willing to sit at the bar, luckily she said she had a table but it was right at the front by the podium. I didn't mind. At first it doesn't look that big but they have several areas they can seat people. It was loud but not too noisy. I was seated right across a group visiting from Japan so it was entertaining to watch them drink and eat. My server was really nice, addressed me by my first name and came by often. I made sure to tip him well. There are several stations to get food from so you'll have to walk to different places. The roast and cutting station is closer to where you check in, seafood, sushi, and crab kind of near it, then you have the cold buffet area and a separate salad, fruit, and dessert area. Omg love this place! Came here for me and my bf's anniversary and my mom's birthday recently. If you reserve online there's a cancellation fee. I can't remember how much it is but I think it's around $35 if you don't show up. I haven't tried walking in but I'm sure you can. It's never really packed. I love the food choices, you have Hawaiian food, Korean food, seafood, crab legs, oysters and even a self serve ice cream spot. They also have a hand roll station! I'm not too big on crab legs but for anyone that loves that, this is definitely the spot! If you're celebrating something they do provide a cake or something that says happy birthday/anniversary! Which is really sweet of them. The waiters are super sweet and kind. The first time we went, our waiter had a German accent and he was amazing! The second time we went, our waiter took our picture and even set up the scene for us which is so awesome. It's partly outdoor and indoor, and I love the outdoor seating area because it's more of a vibe. It can be warm so dress lightly. I would say super casual is the dress code. But my family likes to dress up for special occasions. Parking can be an issue. When my bf and I came, we self parked and it was an adventure to find the place. When we came for my mom's birthday, it was a weekday so there was a line for valet, self park was full and we were scared we were running late so my bf stayed with the car until they were able to valet. On a whim, I came to The Buffet at the Hyatt for a weekday dinner with friends and I'm so glad we did -- I already want to come back with my family! We didn't make a reservation, but luckily we were able to get seated around 5:30pm. We got a table outside and had the best view of the ocean and all of the surfers as the sun setted. Good food, amazing views-- what else can you ask for?! Oh yeah, a Kamaina discount that's 25% off when you show your Hawai'i ID! To start off they have all the heavy hitters: snow crab, prime rib, hand rolls, nigiri, sashimi and all the fixings! They also have some Korean favorites like kalbi, tteokbokki, bulgogi, kimchi and all the banchan! Don't miss out on island favorites like laulau, lomi salmon, and I really loved the kanpachi they had served whole. For the crab, they have all the tools and even put a bucket on your table to put the crab legs and/or oyster shells. Pro tip: you can get a spicy ahi and salmon skin combo hand roll! I added some crab meat to that hand roll and it was my favorite bite of the night! Service is great- they are always coming around to pick up finished dishes and filling up water / drinks. Saw a lot of mixed reviews for this buffet but wanted to try it out to see for myself. We just booked a reservation ahead of time and it was super easy to check-in. I'd say that the food was all decent if you're paying the kama'aina price (~$60 per person), especially if you eat a ton of the expensive food. However, I feel like if you're a tourist paying the full price, I can see that it would feel super overpriced for what you're getting. I personally wouldn't pay ~$80 for it either. My personal favorites were the rosé tteokbokki dish at the Korean station and the crème brûlée. I'm not a huge fan of crab legs, but I tried some and they were actually pretty good. At least when we went, they weren't too salty at all which I saw a few people complain about in other reviews. The oysters were also delicious and I loved that they had a big bucket of mignonette for them too. One disappointing thing though is that drinks are an additional charge. For $60/$80 per person, drinks should be included. Overall, not sure if I'll be back anytime soon but definitely worth checking out at least once I feel like. For parking there's a self park option or you can pay for valet. When we went, self-park was full so we had to do valet but they ended up just giving us valet for free which was nice of them. read more

Date night done right. We don't usually do buffets like this, our usual go-to is the hometown spot with $16.95 all-you-can-eat, MSG-infused comfort food. But for date night, we dressed up and went for it at The Buffet at the Hyatt... and wow. That was seriously good. Like, we don't normally eat like this kind of good. Highlights? All-you-can-eat snow crab legs, oysters, shrimp, and prime rib? Yes, please. But the real stars for me were the fresh poke (ahi tuna) and the sushi that was super fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. And let's talk desserts. They had an amazing chocolate fountain with all the fixings for fondue: strawberries, brownies, marshmallows, the works. The tiramisu slices were soft, rich, and on point. But the real winner? The ambiance is stunning with a beach view. The sunset was spectacular. Now, on to the food. They have prime rib, snow crab, and oysters on the half shell as the stars. The prime rib was good, cooked well with horseradish and au jous available. Oysters were fresh and tasty with a vinegar sauce available. Now, for the major disappointment, The crab were large and looked good. One bite, and I felt like I bit in to a Himalayan salt block. It was so salty to the point of being inedible. The sides were just ok. They also had Korean short ribs which were tender, but, tasted like they had been marinated for a week. Salty and way over seasoned. My wife and I were very unimpressed. Finally, the cost...2 adults, 1 adult beverage for my wife came up to $200! Outrageous! This review was for the Thanksgiving lunch buffet. We aren't turkey or ham people, and being that there is just hubs and me, we opt for AYCE buffets which include crablegs and prime rib. All the other sides are just fluff if there is crab and prime rib for the taking. We've done other AYCE buffets and decided to give this one a try. The way The Buffet did it was you reserve your seating time, and everyone who was scheduled for that time waits in line to be checked in. (Side note: parking is crazy if you self park, some very tight corners and people in rental cars trying to navigate the tight turns--when in doubt, valet!) The line for the 1:30 seating was quite long, snaking around the corner and we were finally seated around 1:45 ish. We were seated facing the beach, which was quite lovely, but also in the full sun even though there was an umbrella above us, it only shaded part of the table. There was also a live musician, which was nice. Our drink orders were taken and we went to work. Round 1 for each of us included warm snow crab and sashimi. There was a server giving out the seafood, so it was a rather small portion, but it's AYCE, so I don't mind coming back for more. Round two was a repeat of round one and the server brought us a bucket for the shells. Hubs went for his prime rib and he looked grumpy as he sat his plate down. When I asked him what's up, he pointed at the prime rib and said "it's well done and they peeled off the part with the crust". He attempted to try a few pieces with the horseraddish and au jus. He was not a happy camper. I decided I wanted to see if maybe he just got a junk piece. I asked the carver if there was any medium rare pieces and he pointed to the meat and said "not anymore" the prime rib actually looked like roast beef, which was quite disappointing. I ended my meal with some sweets and some soft serve, and hubs was still not happy. I would possibly return for their normal service, as I understand the buffet is quite different. I don't really write reviews here but oh boy. Their father's day dinner is awful. I took my family of 4 to the restaurant and their main theme is snowcrab. Guess what? Their snowcrab is black color with funky sock smell. We took some of the cold ones and hit ones both awful. We tried to talk to our waiter about this issue and he just gave me a cup of cheap tea. We paid 115 per person with tax it's around $550 for 4 people I wont even go there again if the price is $20 read more

I want to emphasize that the service is top notch!! The seats are by the beach so I can watch the sunset, which is awesome! However the reason I gave them 1 star is because the food is overpriced and disappointing. For the price, I expect it to live up to the expectations. The fish is too fishy and I could not bear to finish the portion. The prime rib is just okay-ish but the sauce that comes with it is decent. The kimchi was too salty and did not taste like kimchi at all, very disappointing! The grilled vegetables are cold and have such thick cut; the mushrooms are super chewy I just ended up swallowing them instead. The hot dishes are not even hot, they're just warm; by the time I get to my table the food is already cold. The galbi short rib was so hard to chew. I came here with my partner on Monday night for a late birthday celebration. I called the hotel and was told that luckily, there was a 2-hour complimentary self parking (with validation) or a $15 validation valet fee. The parking is across the street from the main Hyatt hotel. Upon arrival, the hostess told us that they were a bit busy so we would need to be seated outside by the live performance (separated by a makeshift wall but we can audibly hear it). We didn't mind that and also mentioned that we were Kamaaina (25% discount). We were seated, then me and my partner got started right away. They have a decent variety of things: Station 1: - Sashimi, Limu Poke, Crab, Shrimp Cocktail, Oysters - All good ! Station 2: - Prime Rib, Potatoes, Kalbi, Bulgogi, Ttekbokki, and Sides (Radish, Kimchi, Lettuce) - All recommend, especially the Tteokbokku and Kalbi for me. Station 3: (Plenty of things but i'll mention the things i tried): - White rice, Fried rice, Hawaiian Chowder, Bao Buns, Carbonara, Vegetables, Lau lau, Sautéed Shrimp and Clams, Fried chicken - Everything above was good as well, although, the chowder was a lot of potatoes and the carbonara's noodles type was not up to my liking (hard to eat). My favorite was defiantly the sautéed shrimp and clams. Station 4: - Soft serve (mochi, red bean, and chocolate for toppings), chocolate fountain with honey dew, strawberry, brownies, and spongecake, baked brie, tiramisu, panne cotta, honey dew coconut roll, chocolate cake? - Everything was good, but the brownies were very clearly old, most of the desserts fell a bit short. - I also saw a roach run across the table where everything was, probably not the most appealing thing to see. Honestly the food was decent, nothing crazy but nothing to complain too much about. However, I personally heavily disliked the seating arrangement. We were seated outside which I didn't mind at first, but once the sun started to set it was incredibly dark. My partner said it felt like we were hiding or something. For about 30-40minutes of our meal, we were just sitting in the dark and very minor drizzling would start and end. Another thing was our table was shaky. We got that fixed once bringing that to our waiters attentions. Towards the very end of our meal our waiter did finally offer for us to move, we did as the rain started to become a bit more intrusive, but we were pretty much almost done. The reality though was the selection was pretty limited. And I understand that seafood is expensive and they had crab legs, raw oysters, cocktail shrimp. But $84 was reeeally expensive. The other items were pretty basic, salad options, a hot cooked section. And I understand I would never eat my money's worth of food ever, but at least the Vegas buffets had fancy desserts and a ton more options of food. Came here for the Father's Day buffet for $110 per person, and I wish we had chosen a different place. All the father's came for the crab, and it was extremely salty, to the point that it was inedible. We tried to eat it, but nobody could eat more than 1 or 2 legs. Looking around, we noticed that several other tables around us made the same comments. People took one taste and threw the rest in the buckets for shells. Everyone has high blood pressure nowadays, so we didn't want to risk it. 20% auto gratuity for poor service. Everyone drank so much water because of the salty crab, but it was only refilled one time at the end of the meal, after we asked for it because we were empty. On top of that, parking is ridiculous busy. Valet /drop off area gets backed up down the street, even though they cone off 2 lanes and have people directing traffic. I just felt bad for all the dads who had couldn't eat crab and had to deal with the traffic. 100% do not recommend. Waste money. Go to the Prince buffet instead. read more

Thanksgiving Buffet at The Hyatt - A Feast Worth Coming Back For After having such an all right experience here on Mother's Day, I had to come back and see what the Thanksgiving Buffet was all about--and wow, it did not disappoint. The spread was massive, and choosing what to try first was the hardest part. The seafood section was the star of the show. The crab legs were sweet and meaty, The seafood Chowder is the starter the sushi was fresh, and the salmon was unforgettable. Honestly, I could've stayed in that section alone and left happy. But then came the Korean station--such a fun surprise. The kalbi was tender and flavorful, the Korean rice and corn were delicious, and the bulgogi was so good I went back for seconds. Of course, Thanksgiving wouldn't be complete without the main event: the turkey. Perfectly cooked, juicy, and served with all the classic fixings. It felt like a true holiday feast. Been there about 4 times and the food, the service and ambience is good. They refilled or beverages often, very friendly and efficient waiters, took our empty plates often. The family enjoyed the crab legs galore! We always have a great time there. Lots of variety of foods. So no complaints! read more

Pretty good buffet, just that its outdoors (maybe something tourist like, but it was hot), a little hard to find, and parking is just weird for this hotel since its across the street. Food was pretty good and the price was excellent. Bartenders made some pretty good drinks. Would certainly come back as it is a good buffet for the price compared to a lot of others. I even like that they offer both hot or cold crab legs. Would definitely come back again. read more

Review long overdue . Me and 3 of my guests got food poisoning here !!! Complained while we were still there ...manager apologized , and told us he would take care of us next time we come and to call and make a reservation through him ( I won't go into how he told us to describe him as it's kind of derogatory) low n behold till this day ...I have tried multiple times and it's never happened . Lesson learned ...never anyone's word , and he should have just comp'd us that meal ! Until this day won't go back and will not recommend to anyone. read more

From answering the phone with a bad attitude, bad service, bad environment, food only prime rib n crab is good. The 2 or 3 hosts in the front. Don't know a thing about customer service. Talking loudly amongst themselves, but loud enough to where it was hard to enjoy meal. We had pile our used plates, for them to notice. Had to walk in n out the restaurant area to get to buffet line. Sushi, don't eat it, Lechon skin hard as a rock. The prime rib guy complain to me a customer, about work. Crab guy practically tossing the crab legs on the plate. Had to ask a few times for water to be filled. 9 of us, paying over 100 each. Service, food, n environment just didn't match up. Was more important for them to pack food for each other. We had the chance to try The Buffet at Hyatt this weekend for our Friendsmas dinner. Reservations can easily be made through the website. Highly recommend parking with the valet when you arrive, which is $15. You can look for parking in the garage or elsewhere but save yourself the trouble and park with the valet. Now on to the food. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't "OMG Amazing!" either. They had a small selection of different dishes: prime rib, oysters, crab legs, poke, tteokbokki, kalbi, Korean chicken, Alfredo pasta, sushi bar, mixed veggies, a banchan bar, and a dessert bar. I think my favorite out of everything was the tteokbokki. The Korean chicken was a bit dry. The banchan selection was pretty decent. The desserts were just ok, nothing really stood out. We all left stuffed but not satisfied. If you're looking for top quality dishes and more variety, I'm afraid this isn't the place. The layout of the restaurant was a bit weird too. It was quite a walk from our table out on the lanai to the buffet area. And the prime rib section was next to the hostess stand. So it was kinda shame walking in front of all the hungry people waiting to be seated to get some prime rib. Overall it wasn't a terrible experience, the food could be better. Love love this buffet. Definitely my favorite and for the price with Kamaaina Discount can't go wrong. No joke me and my husband ate here 3 times within the past month since the deal was soo good to pass up. Sushi, sweet crab legs, raw oysters and prime rib, yess pls!!! We valet our car at the hyatt hotel and it comes out to $15. I do recommend placing a reservation bc I've seen walk ins be having to wait way longer than expected. It super easy to reserve online and then they seat you right away. If you can catch the sunset view it's definitely sets the date night mood and beautiful way to end the night. It can get a bit loud since certain nights they have a private luau performance nearby but it doesn't bother us at all. read more
