We had the chance to try The Buffet at Hyatt this weekend for our Friendsmas dinner. Reservations can easily be made through the website. Highly recommend parking with the valet when you arrive, which is $15. You can look for parking in the garage or elsewhere but save yourself the trouble and park with the valet. Now on to the food. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't "OMG Amazing!" either. They had a small selection of different dishes: prime rib, oysters, crab legs, poke, tteokbokki, kalbi, Korean chicken, Alfredo pasta, sushi bar, mixed veggies, a banchan bar, and a dessert bar. I think my favorite out of everything was the tteokbokki. The Korean chicken was a bit dry. The banchan selection was pretty decent. The desserts were just ok, nothing really stood out. We all left stuffed but not satisfied. If you're looking for top quality dishes and more variety, I'm afraid this isn't the place. The layout of the restaurant was a bit weird too. It was quite a walk from our table out on the lanai to the buffet area. And the prime rib section was next to the hostess stand. So it was kinda shame walking in front of all the hungry people waiting to be seated to get some prime rib. Overall it wasn't a terrible experience, the food could be better. Looking around, we noticed that several other tables around us made the same comments. People took one taste and threw the rest in the buckets for shells. Everyone has high blood pressure nowadays, so we didn't want to risk it. 20% auto gratuity for poor service. Everyone drank so much water because of the salty crab, but it was only refilled one time at the end of the meal, after we asked for it because we were empty. On top of that, parking is ridiculous busy. Valet /drop off area gets backed up down the street, even though they cone off 2 lanes and have people directing traffic. Last night on the island and my birthday. Didn't want to go out and just stay in hotel and eat. I decided on the buffet as it accommodated all our palettes. Husband enjoys seafood, Son loves Asian food and for me I'm easy had me at prime rib. The fresh seafood bar was great husband got his moneys worth eating fresh oysters and sashimi. He said for a buffet he was surprised how fresh it was. Do avoid the section where they do the rolls(across from bar). I think because the area was hot seems my son said rolls and wrap was not good. The prime rib was amazingly tender my son ate his moneys worth there too and I agree. The buffet is more Korean and did have luau food too. My experience is rather so so.....after surveying the whole restaurant I realized there was hardly any, kamaaina, local waiters or waitress working here. There were all of Asian descent. I'm not a racist, but if you're looking for local style, good fun relaxing, atmosphere with a few laughs it ain't here because of no Local waiters or waitresses seem rather serious and Business minded....., we got the check what I didn't like, and it bothered me was the charge extra for each fruit punch, beverage, for children and Kamaaina kids that we brought with me who wanted all fruit punch they charge four dollars for each fruit punch even if they wanted a second fruit punch there was no free refills so each kid had consume at least $12 worth of fruit punch and that kind of bothered me for it so-called buffet. They should've been comped with the beverages with that being said I won't be coming back to this place Anymore. It was too Asian and Chinese for me with no local flare and to business minded, turn the table over as fast as they could so they can get someone else to be seated. Celebrated with the family at the Buffet at Hyatt. Not many buffets are open since Covid, and this place is ok, but not the best. They have a Kamaaina Discount, and a long table for 10 of us. Atmosphere is great, except it is right along Kalakaua and you can hear the cars and loud bikers pass by frequently as we ate dinner. They have separate stations -hot foods, cold foods/salads, prime rib, seafood and dessert. The raw oysters, sashimi and shrimp were fresh and delicious, but the crab legs were cold, watery and messy, and salty. The hot foods were hit or miss. Almost everything in this restaurant was very salty. Parts of the prime rib was very salty as well as the Kalbi and bugolgi, that I couldn't eat it. I didn't try too much of the cold foods. I tried the Prime rib again and had the middle, and it was not as salty as the ends or sides. The desserts were pretty good. I liked the teramisu and matcha cakes. The icemilk didn't have much flavor, and the other cakes were just ok. Service was excellent. Our waiter busy, but took time to tend to our needs and was very friendly and personable. The lanes in their parking lot is very narrow and hard to find parking space. It is also from the restaurant, and is free for 2 hours. You can also valet, I think was for $15 plus tip. Bring your stretchy pants my friends...you're going to want to have room because you just won't be able to stop when all the food looks this good! The Buffet is a seafood/Korean BBQ buffet located in the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa. For $84 (plus 20% discount for kama'aina), it's quite a deal for all that is offered. I loved that their salad bar consisted of banchan (Korean side dishes). There was kim chi, beansprouts, steamed eggplant, spicy takuan kim chi, japchae, tofu and sesame seasoned spinach. It was so nice to see that as an option as you don't see that as an option at other buffets. My favorites from the hot food station were the rice cakes & Portuguese sausage and the deep fried shrimp. My eyes were intrigued by the Korean fried chicken, but it was a bit underwhelming when I ate it. It was a bit dry when I bit into it. My friend said she usually really likes it, so maybe it was just an off day. There's a BBQ station with kalbi short ribs (cut into small pieces making it easy to eat), St. Louis pork ribs and shimeiji and king trumpet mushrooms. There's also a carving station with Korean magic dust spiced prime rib. Don't miss the sushi station that had made to order hand rolls, as well as pre-made sushi rolls cut up on the side. Just around the corner from that are the snow crab legs, oysters, ahi poke and shrimp cocktail. You MUST save room for this to truly get your money's worth from this buffet. And last but not least, the dessert station. By this point I was beyond stuffed, but there was an ice cream machine! I just couldn't resist. They had vanilla and mango flavors. There were also cones and assorted toppings to go with it. The dessert station also had a chocolate fountain with assorted fruits that you could dip. There were also other various desserts you could choose from like ube cheesecake, pineapple cheesecake, custard, Neapolitan cake, carrot cake, sponge cake and brownies. I had to pass on trying any of those. My stomach just couldn't handle any more food. This buffet can also be paired with their Na Lei Aloha hula show that takes place on Sundays - Thursdays on their Na Lea Terrace, which is right next to The Buffet. We thought our waitress was friendly and attentive. As others have noted, the layout of the restaurant is a bit odd, as the different stations are small and isolated from one another. For example, the carving station was located by itself next to the host's station. It was also strange that the Regency Club entrance was in the middle of The Buffet, resulting in a few close encounters (near misses?) between restaurant and club patrons. However, the dining area has stunning views of the beach if you choose to sit outside on the uncovered terrace. Self-parking in the Hyatt Regency parking garage was a nightmare due to the narrow ramps, bad sightlines, and small spaces. Get ready to put the car in reverse if you encounter another car going up or down. Very fresh but not very sweet, there are sauces to go with it all - Korean meats- the short ribs was great and had the lettuce for wraps - prime rib: it was tender and pairs well with their creamy horseradish - seafood chowder soup was amazing - the salad bar: had the usual mixed greens and had soba noodles and other Japanese pickles toppings. My Uncle treated us to Dinner here. This place is not really handicap friendly. Hard to maneuver wheelchair thru the aisle and table and chairs. I really didn't get to try alot of of the banchan or veggies. The prime rib, kal-be, limu ahi poke, sashimi, hamachi, lomi salmon, spicy ahi hand roll, & Salmon wrapped hand roll were tasty and delicious. The crab legs were good, but salty. The Lilikoi Margareta was ok and the Diet Pepsi was good, and the coffee was good too. The Ambiance was nice and the sunset view was good. There was a live band playing Hawaiian Music next door. I didn't really get to enjoy the different foods or try the jhap chae. The plates are too tiny and heavy which is difficult to carry for some handicapped people. 5 stars for our server GQ! my husband made dinner reservations on 2/7/26 at 5;30 for our 15 year anniversary. we showed up at 5:25 and was seated right away. We were greeted by our server, GQ who had a very professional and friendly attitude. He gave us our drink menus and recommended his favorite things to eat there. Before we got up to head to the buffet line, he quickly explained that we had 90 minutes to enjoy our food, explained the reason for the bucket on our table (for our crab shells, and any type of trash) and gave us some wet wipes to wipe our hands. He also pointed out where each foods were located which was great so that we dont waste a minute looking lost. We ordered drinks with him then went off to check out the food! We first went to the seafood bar to get all our fresh seafood. Crab, oysters, sashimi & shrimp, I like the fact that there was a employee to serve the seafood because he was really fast and gave just enough for each person. We sat at our table to enjoy the seafood and GQ was there to make sure we had enough wet wipes and our drinks were filled. As soon as we finished and left our plates, he was there to clean and wipe our table so that we could have room for more food. the food was awesome and the drinks were delicious. Since my mom is a buffet lover, I took her to an all-you-can-eat spot for her 65th birthday, and it was perfect! Everything was delicious, but the kalbi, crab legs, and oysters were definitely the highlights. We were really impressed with the service--our waiter June was super attentive, making sure we always had water, napkins, and quickly replacing our plates. Oysters were quite briny and the sauce options were seriously lacking. The temaki station was just ok and sashimi was mediocre. The hot food items seemed to have been sitting out a while based on their dry texture. The meat carving station (prime rib) was strangely located, but kalbi was pretty good. We mainly stuck to the snow crab and the prime rib for our main meal with minimal side. The snow crab was some of the best I've had where it easily came out of the shell and I could have sat there all day eating it! Service was good and they let us do our own thing once we had ordered drinks and were eating. We made a reservation before (recommend) and requested a view so we were seated right on the patio overlooking Waikiki beach and sunset. 10/10 would recommend and would go again! My family celebrated an early Father's Day at the Buffet. Making the reservation online was easy, 2-hour self-parking across the street was very convenient and free with validation, instructions for navigating the buffet was clear and straightforward, and we really appreciated the 25% discount for Kamaʻāina. Overall, we liked the variety. The seafood was fairly fresh and we especially liked the handrolls, crab, and oysters. The desserts were decent, but some of the meats were a bit salty and tough. We also really loved our server, who checked in on us quite often. The only thing that didn't work well for us was that we were located in the outdoor heat, quite far from the food and my dad is handicapped, so it was quite difficult for him just walking to the table. First of all, it's a buffet. We were there to celebrate my daughter's and my birthdays. I should not have been shocked but when did parking with validation get so expensive? $20 for 2 hours with tip. I guess when you're in Waikiki, you pay for Waikiki. The valet was very warm and friendly and kindly provided us with directions to the restaurant. The ladies at the host stand greeted us but were not over the top because one was complaining about her back aching. But they seated us in a timely manner based on our reservation time. It was not raining and the wind had settled down so it was a nice evening on the lanai under the umbrella tables. There was a nice assortment of foods to choose from. My hubby particularly enjoyed the prime rib, sashimi, oysters, and spicy ahi/salon skin hand rolled sushi. For me, there was chilled snow crab legs, fresh poi lau lau, kalua pork and lomi salmon and kalbi. My daughter and her boyfriend selected a little bit of everything and enjoyed tasting everything. As form my friends, they enjoyed the warm kale mushroom salad (it was yum), fish, with the sushi, crab legs and prime rib. The thing that we all enjoyed for dessert was the fresh fruits and chocolate fountain. The things that fell a little flat there were the brownies and the soft serve. It was too icy and didn't taste like soft serve. More like really icy ice milk. The one thing my daughter enjoyed was the decadent rich chocolate birthday dessert that they served us. We could not let any crumb go to waste! Our server, Pam was helpful but she was crazy busy. The drinks were ok $6 for iced and hot teas and $9 for a beer. For the price, if you're a kamaaina, be sure to have your local ID, they give you 20% discount if you present it at the host stand when checking in. There is an automatic large party charge of 19%. So if you're local, it's a good thing that they give you 20% if you show your ID. Overall, it was a nice experience for all of us with great friends. Will we visit again? Made reservations online and we were seated right at opening/5pm. The buffet has a lot of options, I couldn't catpture it all in photo and didn't even get to try everything. There are 6 main areas: 1. Crab and oysters (cold bar with snow crab legs and goose point oysters). The shellfish was fresh and they have a bar with drawn butter and mignonette. The snow crab was sweet! 2. BBQ meats: kalbi, steak, pork belly and grilled hamakua mushrooms. They offer lettuce dipping sauce to include salt mix and gochujang. They used to have grilled prawns but didn't have it today. 3. Hot station with whole fried fish, garlic shrimp, Korean chicken, crispy pork belly, kimchi carbonara, veggie bibimbap, and more! There is also a soup area. 4. Cold station with tofu, salads, potato salad, kimchi, pickled cucumbers, chopchae, and seasoned daikon. 5. They also had a kimbap and hand roll station. 6. The last is the dessert bar with a soft serve ice cream station. My favorite was the cheesecake and the chocolate fondu with strawberries and pound cake.
