I am very excited to hear that Four Winds opened up another location in South Bend. Compare to the New Buffalo location, this one is about 15 minutes from Downtown South Bend. I visited the Buffet at the New Buffalo location a few years back, and the experience is pretty good. However, The Buffet at the South Bend location is quite a disappointment. I went in for lunch on a Thursday. Since it is the weekday, I do expected there will have less people in the buffet. And this may cause the down performance in term of both service and food quality. First on the service part, our server seems very nice and welcoming at first. But after we dine in for about 30 minutes, he seems to be disappeared and our table is pile up with all the finished plate. At one point, we need to move the plate to another table where had been checked out. Second is on the food part. Throughout the time that we were there, most of the food items is not getting refill. Moreover, I would say most of the food temperature is only warm, which make me think the food is not freshly made. From the food quality to the service, I have to sadly say that The Buffet at the South Bend location is really let me down. Maybe there are some other factors that take into consideration, since they only opened for about a month. Hope their service and food quality will be improve in the near future.

I'm shocked by the previous low reviews, because this place was by far the best buffet I've ever had! So many incredible options to suit all tastes. My friend and I were at the casino and were surprisingly doing pretty well so we decided to splurge on the buffet! At $28 dollars a head on a Friday evening, I initially thought it was a bit pricey... that is, until I was notified that it was BOGO free night. So I purchased my meal and my friend's meal was completely free! What an amazing deal especially considering all of the food which I consumed. I had: prime rib with au jus, mashed potatoes, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, a crab cake with spicy aioli, crab and shrimp seafood bake, cheesy creamed corn, carne asada, crab rangoon, sesame chicken, an egg roll and ribs. This massive amount of scrumptious food was (unfortunately) followed up by a scoop of sweet cream corn gelato, chocolate chip mint gelato, creme brulee, baklava, lemon curd cake with whipped topping and of course a trip by the chocolate fountain! Oh lord, I may not eat for a week! Who am I kidding, of course I will. But this meal will continue to be in my food coma dreams and I will definitely be back for future Friday nights!

Second visit... less impressed than the first visit. Attendants missing from their stations... Hand Sanitizers were all empty!! When I asked the hostess... she said they were on back order, but your server/table attendant had "wet wipes". Pretty absurd considering the attendant is busy waiting tables and not at your beck and call to provide those. A better choice would have been to place them near the hand sanitizers. . Food temp is hit or miss... Attendants are typically socializing with their neighbors. If none of these things ( service, food temperature, cleanliness) bother you... this buffet is your place!

The buffet was nice. The food was good and it was easy to maneuver. The only downside is it was smaller than the New Buffalo location. However, that casino is bigger.

The service was fantastic, even made a few jokes. The place is beautiful and the views are nice. Focaccia - $13 - I asked if this was house made bread, and they said yes, so I went with this over the Burrata appetizer. The bread was fantastic, and the whipped ricotta was delicious. It's simple but very good. 5/5 stars. Lobster Bisque - $15 - Good flavor, decent amount of lobster. I was pleasantly surprised how good this was. 5/5 stars. Cascade Salad - $9 or $14 - This was pretty good as well. A different family member ordered this and I was also pleasantly surprised again. It ALMOST makes me want to order it (if they didn't have lobster bisque). 5/5 stars. 16oz Ribeye with Black Truffle Butter - $78 + $4 - The sear was perfect, the medium rare cook was spot on, and the flavor couldn't be better (well, almost, because my Black Truffle Butter was more like wine butter). Here's my gripe, if you put something was Black Truffle Butter why on earth is there wine?! My body can't process alcohol (which is why I don't drink), and when I taste uncooked alcohol, all I taste is alcohol. So, this was my only gripe. I couldn't taste any truffle, just alcohol. I had to switch with my husband for parts of his New York Strip, and he took the parts of my steak that had the truffle butter. 5/5 stars, but the Truffle Butter 0/5 stars. 14oz New York Strip - $69 - Perfect sear, cook, and flavor. You really can't go wrong with the steaks here. 5/5 stars. Grilled Asparagus - $14 - Perfectly cooked, and not stringy. 5/5 stars. Au Gratin Potatoes - $14 - These potatoes everyone loved. Normally, I'm not a bread crumb topping person, but it works here. 5/5 stars. Mashed Potato - $12 - These are just typical steakhouse mashed potatoes. Smooth and good, you couldn't make them better, but they get outshined by all the other dishes. 5/5 stars. Creme Brulee - $9 - This was to die for. Whatever cream they use is so good. One of the best creme brulees you could ever get. 5/5 stars. I apologize for the lack of picture, apparently I was so excited that I just forgot to take one. This place is one of the best restaurants in Indiana. You need to go here. Just don't get the truffle butter, unless you like alcohol. Everything else is amazing.

The chive cream cheese is the best and they will give you more if you ask for it. We tried the ribeye, mushrooms, mashed potatoes, grilled broccolini, caprese and Casesar salads, chocolate cake, and mocktails. We tried the au poivre and hollandaise sauces as well. We did hope that they would have more homemade steak sauce options. The food was mostly good but the caprese had some mealy tomatoes in it and the mushrooms seemed to be cooked in oil instead of butter, so that was not good. I took the chocolate cake home and it was ok but not quite what I thought it would be. It seemed to be more of a mousse cake than a traditional 7-layer cake. Just ok for me. They do give you chocolate lava beignets at the end and those were good. They also brought over a whole new bread basket that we did not ask for and then wasted the whole thing instead of packing it up with our food, so I did not like that. Don't be wasteful. Overall, it was a good experience and we would go back to try some other things.

This Market is a year-round affair, so you can get Fresh Fruits and Vegetables (FFV) during the summer and fall months right from local growers; in the off seasons they purchase out of state FFV and thus are still able to offer better produce than one usually finds in the big supermarkets. This particular Farmer's Market is enclosed - as it would have to be to be year-round in the Midwest. There are roughly 50 individual sellers in the entire setup - which is laid out as a pair of stacked boxes - the middle being washrooms and the like. All the stalls face inside in a double row ... the center portion of the boxes being where sellers can back up their trucks. There is a little diner restaurant on one side that offers a bunch of nice meals - breakfast food and when we were there pulled pork nachos (yum). There is also a bakery stall. They have parking on site, but it is just barely enough for the crowds the Market attracts. We liked this market because it really was mostly FFV and not a bunch of stalls selling candles and the like. There even are a couple of stalls selling meat - at least one fresh and one frozen. Give this place a try and you'll like it.
