We took our family of 5 and we all were so disappointed with the food. Really not a good experience anymore.

I will say; I have not been here DUE to the issue of room temperature food. Temperature control isn't simply a matter of personal preference; there's a real scientific basis for it. Maintaining a temperature of 140F. degrees or higher (for hot food) and 40 degrees Fahrenheit or lower (for cold food) staves off bacterial growth, since bugs flourish best in the "danger zone"--the interval between those two points. Management should be going around with a food thermometer before you wind up causing serious sickness. read more

I am very excited to hear that Four Winds opened up another location in South Bend. Compare to the New Buffalo location, this one is about 15 minutes from Downtown South Bend. I visited the Buffet at the New Buffalo location a few years back, and the experience is pretty good. However, The Buffet at the South Bend location is quite a disappointment. I went in for lunch on a Thursday. Since it is the weekday, I do expected there will have less people in the buffet. And this may cause the down performance in term of both service and food quality. First on the service part, our server seems very nice and welcoming at first. But after we dine in for about 30 minutes, he seems to be disappeared and our table is pile up with all the finished plate. At one point, we need to move the plate to another table where had been checked out. Second is on the food part. Throughout the time that we were there, most of the food items is not getting refill. Moreover, I would say most of the food temperature is only warm, which make me think the food is not freshly made. From the food quality to the service, I have to sadly say that The Buffet at the South Bend location is really let me down. Maybe there are some other factors that take into consideration, since they only opened for about a month. Hope their service and food quality will be improve in the near future. read more

Here for our anniversary. Decided to just stay on site and in the past have enjoyed the variety offered. The fried shrimp was delicious, very good size. However, not much else was that good. Good flavor but not 'Prime' and was not as hot as it should've been. I think it was sitting in a warming oven & was removed too early. The Mac & cheese had a good flavor but was not warm enough to eat. Everything we tried was not warm enough (including the 'heated plates'.....until we got to dessert- the apple cobbler was hot but the flavor was so-so. Our waitress, Susie, was excellent. Quick with our drinks & clearing plates. We usually go to the New Buffalo site and are thinking we should go back for our next visit. 2 stars for staff & cleanliness. read more

I'm shocked by the previous low reviews, because this place was by far the best buffet I've ever had! So many incredible options to suit all tastes. My friend and I were at the casino and were surprisingly doing pretty well so we decided to splurge on the buffet! At $28 dollars a head on a Friday evening, I initially thought it was a bit pricey... that is, until I was notified that it was BOGO free night. So I purchased my meal and my friend's meal was completely free! What an amazing deal especially considering all of the food which I consumed. I had: prime rib with au jus, mashed potatoes, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, a crab cake with spicy aioli, crab and shrimp seafood bake, cheesy creamed corn, carne asada, crab rangoon, sesame chicken, an egg roll and ribs. This massive amount of scrumptious food was (unfortunately) followed up by a scoop of sweet cream corn gelato, chocolate chip mint gelato, creme brulee, baklava, lemon curd cake with whipped topping and of course a trip by the chocolate fountain! Oh lord, I may not eat for a week! Who am I kidding, of course I will. But this meal will continue to be in my food coma dreams and I will definitely be back for future Friday nights! read more

I've been saving this claim for a rather special location and I figured that The Buffet at Four Winds South Bend meets this specification. This is one of if not the worst buffets I have ever been too. Before I start grinding into why I believe that, let me set a couple things straight here. The staff during my visit seemed friendly, I read people complaining about the service here and I would see that some people could be stressed out from the casino environment. Three of the various items I tried here were good enough for me to finish what I had on my plate, such as the Espresso Gelato, The Bread Pudding and The Cheesecake, but those are all desserts and who doesn't love those after a hard day of losing cash? Everything else I tried, from pork belly to schnitzel was just...bland...very bland. Every dish I tried except for the desserts here was nearly the blandest flood I ever has since I graduated from school. Almost every dish I tried I could only take one bite out of before my cravings went away like my cash in the high limit room. It's bad if a dish such as New York Steak has no flavor, no seasoning, no passion put into the cooking whatsoever, which brings me to my biggest issue with The Buffet. I understand that the casino clientele is mostly senior citizens, but considering how much money this place brings in from their slot machines, don't you think they could spend a little more money on their ingredients? Do the chefs there actually don't care about the product they are making or are they just subjected to price cuts just so Four Winds can bring in one machine to the high limit room? Nevertheless, it's a shame that a buffet which big potential decides to cater to the senior citizen crowd instead of optimizing on their profits and bringing in some high-quality dishes. The Casino, I will go back to, The Buffet on the other hand, I'd rather spend 26$ in the High Limit room and I recommend your cash stays away from this buffet. If you happen to obtain a 40$ Dining Credit, I would just use it at Copper Rock or Timbers. read more

Second visit... less impressed than the first visit. Attendants missing from their stations... Hand Sanitizers were all empty!! When I asked the hostess... she said they were on back order, but your server/table attendant had "wet wipes". Pretty absurd considering the attendant is busy waiting tables and not at your beck and call to provide those. A better choice would have been to place them near the hand sanitizers. . Food temp is hit or miss... Attendants are typically socializing with their neighbors. If none of these things ( service, food temperature, cleanliness) bother you... this buffet is your place! read more

Great selection! Everything from Polish, Chinese, Asian, and American entrees! I like my food hot; however, everything was just lukewarm. It seems this is typical of most all buffets however. What was truly amazing were the desserts!. Again, great variety - pastries, pies, and even ice cream. Coffee was exceptional! The table service could have been better. Dishes were not picked up and had to keep asking for refills on the drinks. Overall though, I will go back. read more

However the food was VERYYY disappointing. My egg roll was colder than room temperature, everything else was room temperature.. Nothing was hot. One person who was serving food to your plate did not no what they were serving, and they made that comment. I hope South Bend steps it up for just being open a week.. read more

The wife and I were at a private event at Copperock which had very good food and decided to come back and try the buffet. Nice hostess and wait staff but the Food was horrible. The slices prime rib was fatty, but ok. Most the hot dishes were overcooked, fatty, tasteless. Chicken was waiting in chafing pans probably for a long, long time. "Octoberfest" fare was meager, overcooked, tasted little like real German food. Salad was fresh. Fruit was fresh. Deserts were just ok. Creampuffs were good but probably a Gordens GFS product. Backlava was hard as a rock. Seriously, had trouble biting into it. Cheese cake was tasteless. Creme brulee was watery. Bread pudding was good. We went there on Wednesday, I will not go back!!!! Food was BAD!!!! . Cold, and no taste! The salad I made was great, lemonade was good too!!! When they first were getting ready to open they said was going to be like nobody has seen before!!! They were right, nowhere has food this bad!!! Most everything tasted the same, and I mean that. The only reason I gave one star was you can't give zero stars!! Ok here goes, I got a message from here offering two free dinners, thought no but went back anyway! Saturday seafood which is $46.00 each so bill would have been 92 and tax. Which is WAY TO MUCH MONEY FOR SURE!!!!!!! Crab legs were OK, rest of food the very same for both of us. Nothing had much taste, cold, just not a very good place to eat. Now I thank them for wanting us to give another chance, but the same is the same The Chinese buffets who served crab legs up on McKinley were better the food was warmer and it was a lot cheaper. Took 10 of my employees out for dinner. It was NOT good! The buffet is VERY small compared to the buffet in New Buffalo. The food was not good, not hot, and they ran out of things so they just left empty plates out (even when we asked them about refilling it). The desserts were not labeled (as they are in the buffet at New Buffalo) so one of my employees mistakenly got a dessert with peanut butter in it. Our waitress was awful. She brought drinks and just put them on the table (not in front of the person that ordered them). I told her that I thought the drink order was messed up. I visited this casino on a Wednesday night as it was BOGO for seniors and my friend qualified and invited be along. Its a very nice buffet, clean, and lots of options. Drinks (coke products and tea) are included in the price and brought by waitresses. Being it was a Wednesday, it was international night. I've later learned the only different from the regular buffet is there is an added Mexican section. In the center, there is a salad bar with a semi decent amount of selections. Starting on the left of the main buffet is the Chinese section. All of the usual items. They also have carving station which was serving tri-tip, carved turkey, and sausage. They also have ribs, pork chops, fried chicken, made to order omelettes, and all of the sides you could imagine. There is also a decent amount of fish options as well, such as fried fish and chips, fried clams, and crab cakes with a spicy sauce. There is also pizza. Now the buffet itself would be 5 stars for the selection, but the food just wasn't up to par. A lot of it was lukewarm, and tasted like it had been sitting for awhile. Barely anything got freshly filled the entire time we were there. Had we paid full price, I would've been upset. The waitress was awesome and the employees were friendly. I have heard that food, especially buffets at casinos was exceptionally good. This is not the case at this location. I tried a variety of foods seeking something good enough to conpensate the cost (BoGo) for Seniors. Much of the food was tasteless and bland. The only foods that did taste good was the bread pudding, two types, the Asian noodles, and American broasted chicken. I wouldn't pay $10 each for it. Perhaps their specialty restaurants are better. This had to be the WORST buffet and staff I have ever encountered!!!! To begin with we went to try buffet on seniors night. After we waited in line to pay and have dinner we were told we had to have club cards. I told them it said no where on web site I needed a card. But the cashiers thats the policy. I am handicapped but we then walked all the way to the other end to get a card. We then walked all the way back to buffet. I then had to drag out again my id to pay. At this point I asked for the manager and was told she was to busy to come and do her job. By this time I have been about 45 min. trying to have dinner. So I demanded to see her. When she showed up I was told that was your policy. I asked her to show me where that was stated on the web site which she was unable to do also. She was rude and just told me thats the way it is. This was our first and last visit. The food was cold and looked like it had been sitting for a long, long time. The roast beef was so tough we couldnt chew it. My husband had what they were calling brussel sprouts that looked like dried up peas. couple at the table next to us said the same thing. What a disappointment. First time I have ever had wanted to write a review for an establishment, hoping it is soon to be followed by positive remarks. I was at the Four Winds South Bend location with my brother and girlfriend and we couldn't decide whether to go too Kankakee Grill or The Buffet. We decided to go to the buffet being that the one in New Buffalo is amazing. Ive been telling my family just wait until the one in SB opens! We got our plates and went back to the table... I was very disappointed.. The friend rice, and lo mein both were room temp, and that was after I grabbed both from the bottom. I will say that the Elk Sausage which was under the heat lamp was amazing, as well as the desserts... If it was a $15-$20 buffet I could see this, but it wouldn't be ok.. I spent over $100 for the three of us, and all of us left dissatisfied. I wish I wouldn't talked to head rep immediately after, but I chose not too! I am banking on the food at this FW! Disappointed!!! Went Friday evening, to the cost of almost $60 for 2 people. The selection was minimal and almost everything was old and dried out. It was clear the food had been sitting out for quite some time. The few items that were fresher looking had no flavor. That was the carved turkey and prime rib and the mashed red skin potatoes. The potatoes were the best of the 3 probably due to the butter we put on them. Even the gravy was old and dry. Our drinks were empty but there was no employee around to get a refill.
