Very comfortable bar that is near the beach. Bartender on a Sunday afternoon was very friendly and she really seemed to know what she was talking about when it came to beers. They had a pretty large selection of many different types of beers which I really liked. The one beer that I had was a Pilsner, but it was very heavy and hops to the point where it almost tasted like an IPA. I would be willing to go back if I was nearby again But I probably wouldn't go out of my way for this brewery. I did not try the food there but would be willing to in the future. read more

Great atmosphere ! Good beer selection. After spending 12 yrs in Colorado we are beer snobs and have struggled to find a a brewery in Va that we really enjoy. The Bunker hit the mark. The food was great especially enjoyed the she crab soup. We also ordered the southern hospitality burger. It was a very good burger. Beth was our server and she was great she was serving several tables but we never waited long for any thing. We had the Goat locker, the dare double and the choosy mother. Basically the dark and malty menus and we would order each again. We are here down the street at one of the local hotels and bc we were so tired from an 11 hour drive during a severe thunderstorm, we decided to unpack and stay in and enjoy the ocean view from inside. We have not been to the actual pub but the food we had delivered was AMAZING! So worth every penny and it's one of the few things that have gone right on our first family vacation so far! I highly recommend the fish tacos. There was a beer that our server recommended that was not on the menu. It was pineapple and coconut flavored. We went back several nights later and ordered the pineapple beer and suggested it to the couple next to us. I know flavored beer is not for everyone, especially fruit-flavored ones. Loved the vibes of this place! Close to the beach and had good food + beer. Our large group of 9 was seated quickly on a Saturday night. Everyone loved their food - and I especially loved the Cobb salad - huge portion and delicious ingredients. The tacos and the side bean salad they came with were a bit disappointing in size, but everything else was a hit. We had a later dinner and stuck around to find that there was an event in the back of the restaurant in the small venue (some sort of DJ) - so if you're looking for that, also seemed fun! read more

If you are thinking of trying this place in the beach- go ahead- you will not be disappointed. If you like flavor and a little different spice - then this is the spot. Beer was good...that was it. Service was okay, seemed like we had 3 different servers the entire time. Husband got the Mahi Mahi and asked for it rare and it came out so overdone it was gummy. I ordered the seafood pasta and it looked amazing but had so much red pepper it could kill a horse and only 3 of the mussels were opened up..not much I could do to open the others with plastic utensils. Ordered two growers when we were done eating and the server didn't give us any information about them; like the fact the growler itself was $6 plus the beer so we got a separate check for $52. At the end it seemed like server was just trying to rush us out because she had better things to do but the entire service only checked on us once maybe twice. Beers went empty and empty togo containers (because of wo flu) sat on the table. Don't think we will be going back which is a huge bummer because we were really excited to try it. read more

My wife and I went for a special event that was catered at the cadence hall. Everyone on staff was super helpful and accommodating of our requests. They had an awesome spread of all their favorites - bunker buffalo wings, bunker burgers, shrimp egg rolls, and loaded waffle fries. Staff rolled out ping pong tables, and corn hole boards for us. There was a large selection of craft beers with detailed descriptions on tv displays. This helped me choose between flavors and alcohol content. After calling and being told they could accommodate our large group we were then told they did not have room for us after we arrived. We ended up down the street at Esoteric and we are so glad that it worked out that way. The Bunker is alright, but the food, service and atmosphere at Esoteric were unbelievable. And if you want outdoor seating definitely skip the Bunker and head to Esoteric instead. We arrived 20 minutes prior to our arrival time told to us by the hostess over the phone after consulting with the manager. The manager then attempted to blame the situation on the young hostess throwing her under the bus and telling us "she is only 17, it's her fault". A respectable establishment would have taking responsibility for inconveniencing 20 people and offered some type of concession even if at another time. Regardless, Esoteric is several notches above this place and we are so glad we took our business elsewhere and will be doing the same in the future. read more

Great location for a brewery, really close to the beach. The space is really great for a break from the beach when you need to grab something to eat and drink. I ended up getting pretty much a flight of pints. Some of the styles probably needed a little bit more, but I'm pretty tough on beer--so take that into consideration. I did really enjoy their night vision stout. The wings were pretty good, and I was surprised how great the shrimp eggrolls were. Highly recommend those! Looks like the place is pretty good for large parties. Really appears that breweries are popping up a lot around Virginia Beach, but if you want one close the boardwalk, this is the one. Had a great meal and experience at this place. Was walking past The Bunker and happened to notice an employee on break outside. I inquired about their salads and was given an amazing description of what they offered as if I was sitting at a table. The friendliness and knowledge of Rachel convinced me to drop of the 90% unfinished dinner from across the street at my hotel and head back to try it out. My salad was amazing and the atmosphere of this place is as well. Rachel is awesome. She works the bar and has been here forever. Came back for lunch today, had a Bunker Burger and a few beers. Everything was excellent again and Beth at the bar was amazing. While perhaps a few dollars more than other local spots, this place serves quality food with amazing service and excellent craft beers. Beer was good. So give them a 4 out of 5. Food was okay so 3 out of 5 for food. Burger was thick but mostly bun and jalapeño burger was a little too sweet for my taste and overcooked. Got side salad instead of fries with a basil vinaigrette. Not sure how vinaigrette is consistency of mayo but tasted okay. Biggest issue I had was how slow it took to get beer and food so 3 out of 5 for service. Server was attentive but it was 45 mins after ordering until we could eat. Price was a little high for the overall quality and experience. Two flights and two meals was $60 plus they added 20% gratuity on top of it. So overall, meh. read more

Was looking for a decent place to grab a bite to eat while in VA Beach and came across this place. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. The service was great as was the food. I ordered the tuna tacos. I saw a review on here that said there wasn't a lot of fish in their tacos and the fish was over cooked. I did not have that issue.
