We had friends visiting from out of town and they requested a brewery in Virginia Beach. We knew we needed one with food and in the end chose The Bunker Brewpub. The photos of food and beer selection made everyone happy. We parked across the street in one of the lots where it was $10. It was easy to park there especially since it was off season and trying to find two spots close together this just made it easier. We were seated instantly at a perfect table set for our party of 8. We glanced at the menu making our selections. Various things were order like beer flights, fried oysters, fried pickles, a burger, fish tacos, crab dip, she crab soup, crab cakes and so much more. Everything was amazing. We were impressed by the kids Mac and cheese. It was not some skimpy Mac n cheese. This family appreciates when restaurants put thought and work into a kids menu like they do the regular menu. I had the crab cakes and those were delicious, just the right crunch in the outside and flavorful on the inside. It was paired with Broccoli. The fried oysters were placed on top of a pickle which was an added treat. My husband enjoyed his fish tacos and my friend enjoyed her crab sandwich the bun really added to the sandwich. Really nice little brewpub. Young Veterans makes some great beer, and its nice to have a spot to drink it right at the Oceanfront; way more convenient than their original location near Oceana. We just opped in for a drink and a snack and really enjoyed ourselves. The crispy oysters were unique and delicious. My wife isn't much of a beer drinker and they had a great selection of ciders, seltzers, and a full bar so both had good drink choices. We checked this place out for dinner during our visit to Virginia Beach. It's down one of the side roads near Atlantic and Pacific and seemed like a chill spot. We chose to eat outside where they had a couple of tables to enjoy the nice weather and people watching. Beth was our server and she was very friendly and attentive. We chose to get an order of shrimp egg rolls and shared a Southern Hospitality burger. The shrimp egg rolls were really tasty and I loved the avocado ranch sauce that came with them. The Southern Hospitality burger was also yummy. It had pimento cheese, bacon, and fried green tomato and made for a nice flavor combo. It seemed to be cooked a bit beyond the medium we asked for, but it was still good. The waffle fries were crisp and pretty tasty. We also enjoyed some of their beers which were great. This is a real nice place for my and my family to grab dinner together!! A really awesome entrance where you walk in like a big garage warehouse that turned into a restaurant. My party of two arrived at peak dinner time- 6 pm. There would have been a 15 minute wait to be seated but we lucked out and scored the last two bar seats. Bartender chris was phenomenal! He was individually taking a party of 11's orders so they wouldn't have to wait an hour. Chris is everything you want in any job. Friendly, fast, and good. Dude rocks! Don't know what he makes but he's a gem and should be given a financial pat to keep him on side. The gal bartenders were awesome too. And the COOK! he kept bringing out orders that were exceptional! I found myself at the Oceanfront this evening at dinnertime and I saw a sign at The Bunker Brewpub advertising a Virginia Beach version of a Hot Chicken Sandwich. This place is located at 211 21st right below Peabody's. This is a large space that has a wonderful military theme honoring our men and women in Uniform. Tonight they were not busy but my server Silvia was very attentive and helpful with menu questions and suggestions but I had my heart set on the Hot Chicken Sandwich for $14. I started out with a cup of She Crab for $6. This was one of the best She Crab Soups that I've ever had and I enjoyed every bite. They even topped it with a generous portion of crabmeat which just made it all the more special. The Garden Salad was very good and it was served with a lemon vinaigrette. The Hot Chicken Sandwich was in a word, amazing. It was served piping hot and it had a terrific combination of crispy goodness and spicy flavors. It was served on Sourdough bread with House Made pickles, provolone cheese. This is a large Sandwich and I couldn't finish it so I took the other half home with me. I really like this place and I'm already planning my next visit. Loved stopping in late on a Friday. They had both a room for parties and for individuals. I sat at the bar and had amazing service! Super friendly bartender who recommended good local brews. Our first stop in Virginia Beach. We wanted seafood but also craving draft beer, and this place boasted a menu of both. Not too far away from our hotel (Country Inn & Suites), so easy hike. This spot has 3 outdoor tables and a pretty large indoor area. Two separate dining rooms, with one in the back hosting a stage. Their bathrooms are in the far back and they even have signs joking that bathrooms are a mile away and a half mile away as you get closer. Assuming they do have live music here. The patio seating is tight but nice. We opted for that since inside was a long wait. Our lamp heater went out due to the strong winds. They seemed to be short staffed, bc we didn't see our waitress for some time and she forgot our crab dip. Other than that, it was good. I started with a flight: lite lager, blonde ale, wheat ale and stout. Was not a fan of the black is beautiful stout (blah) or the lite lager (my gf said it tasted like bud light, which I think bud tastes better and I hate bud). Don't recommend either. The wheat ale was good, almost like a Hefeweizen. The blonde ale was the best. I also had some of my gf's Das Yummy, which is a sour and best sour I've had. Also, their Hot Pursuit was the best pineapple habanero ipa I've ever had. Both were in cans but WELL worth it. You could actually taste the pineapple and feel the habanero heat. For food, we did the she-crab soup (very good but salty) and crab cakes plus mahi mahi. My crab cakes with fried green tomatoes and collards were perfect. Honestly, the collards were my favorite part. Could've been 5 stars had they offered up oysters here and had a beer on draft that I loved. BUT those two canned beers were outstanding. After being inundated with a wealth of options for seafood, a nice brewery was what I was in the mood for. Low and behold, this place seemed like a perfect way to end an evening of happy hour hopping. And to our surprise, it was trivia night! Food (4/5) The mussels were solid and the beer selection was great. I do think that that guest beer with the Pineapple Milkshake flavor was divine, but all their beers were on point where I would give it a solid 4 on the beeradvocate scale. Service (4.5/5) I was slightly worried about sitting in the back room, but we were able to hear the trivia answers clearly and the waitstaff was attentive. Cleanliness (4/5) It's a simple brewpub but doing everything it can to stay Covid-safe. If you'd like to avoid larg(ish) crowds, I'd sit in the back Ambiance (4/5) I loved seeing hints of homages to local groups when walking in. We work in the bar industry and support all of our locally owned bars, we showed up at 3:30 today to buy tickets to the show tonight, they had a bar crawl going on, we asked security how we could buy tickets, they were still on sale online, we were told to come back when doors opened, when we came back it was sold out even though online it still says tickets are available at the door, and we weren't allowed to buy tickets to attend the event. Manager wouldn't even come outside to talk to us about it, great customer service! 10/10 would not recommend. read more

If you like a hazy IPA this is the shiznits of beer. Then she recommended the bone in pork chop, as I don't like seafood, and man!! This thing was off the chain!! Decided to stop in to this place because it had a military themed brew/pub. The atmosphere was amazingly decorated with various military gear to compliment the name. The bears are named in a military theme also. We did flights to try some of the different beers and I could only say I liked maybe 2. The food was great and a nice selection of burgers, tacos, and finger foods. The service was great and staff were friendly. They sell merchandise from their beer lines and brewery but we're on the pricey side. They have small posters that would have been cool to frame, but were out of my price range. We parked across the street for 2hrs for about $4.00. Overall, great place to visit, eat, and drink if you are military or veteran. read more

Food was delicious - some of the best we got in Virginia Beach. I got the crab cakes, fried green tomatoes, and green beans, which had a good portion of crab cakes and plenty of actual crab meat. The fried green tomatoes were perfect, crispy and crunchy and with a nice tangy sauce. The green beans were cooked to perfection, still snappy. Beer was good too, especially the sour. But I have had better crab cakes from local fisheries where I am from as well as for a cheaper price (2 patties cost $40). I was eating in a group setting, but from what the rest of the building seemed like, the theming was consistent and nice and our private room was spacious and seated all 30 of us comfortably. The server we had was able to deal with all our split checks well and was able to get our food to us in a timely manner. The hot chicken sandwich had some decent flavor but it was HEAVY (even realizing you are getting a fried chicken sandwich). The pickles actually were the star of this one for me, ended up eating maybe half. Also had the fish tacos, these were pretty rough. The tortilla seemed old stale and packaged. The fish was a very small portion covered up by heavy battering. The waffle fries seemed to have no seasoning, were a bit limp and soggy as well. I grew up in Virginia Beach and when I came into town for the Neptune Festival we went to several of the old favorites. On our last night we wandered into the Bunker since its veteran owned. It was hands down the best meal we had on our trip. We got the fried oysters, mussels, and the crabcake platter to share. It was all great but the crabcakes were the highlight for me. They were almost all crab and served with perfectly cooked fried green tomatoes. The place has a laid back vibe and multiple seating options-- bar, couches, and tables. Avoid the tourist traps on the Broadwalk and head the two blocks to Bunker. read more
