There was a live band outside that we stopped and listened on the way out. The food was pretty good as well. The Bangers and mash were good. The wings were really good. The burger was a preformed patty so it was just regular but i can't complain. The fish and chips were also pretty good. The potatoes could've been cooked a little more as they were a little flimsy. We went during the World Cup and the inside was busy! They were able to accommodate our party of 6 just fine. They had live music outside and the dinner rush. They have valet parking in the lot which is nice as it isn't very large. The service was great and the food was really good! I got the Shepards pie with Irish bread and it was so good. Visiting va beach and this is easy to walk to on a warm evening. We were in time for happy hour and a band waa setting up. We were able to get outside seating with shade - bonus. We were Promptly greeted, placed drink orders and then had a short wait for them to arrive. We ordered fish and chips, nachos with beef and a murphys burger. Where do I begin...check into Embassy Suites--dog friendly, but nothing on-site is...not even a chair ouside at the end of an outside bar. They recommended Murphy's...I'm 1/3 Scottish anyway and was wearin' a Guiness hat so walked a bit down the Boardwalk. Murphys--great outdoor patio...really big, shaded areas, fire pits, nevermind the beer. Speaking of that, $2 off happy hour UK beer (Guiness, Kilkeny, Harp) and 1/2 off wings--but the blow your mind order--75 cent oysters...and HH is 7 days/week. I'm sold. Went to Murphy's Irish pub twice. The first and second time that the wait staff was very nice and provided us great service. The atmosphere was nice. The first time I ordered wings and the vegetable of the day. Everything was great. I also ordered the pretzel which was fresh and huge. The second night I ordered nachos with chicken, which very good. The chicken was seasoned well and the toppings were abundant and the pico de gallo was fresh. I also ordered on the second night crabcake sandwich and coleslaw. The crabcake was very fresh with crab. I enjoyed the meal. I'd recommend this restaurant for the service food and atmosphere. Outdoor seating is available. They have in the background someone playing music and the whole vibe of the place was amazing. read more

I decided to come here and watch the world cup and the place was so packed that people were just standing shoulder to shoulder to watch. Despite it being packed the service was still good. The drinks and pretzel were not bad and the atmosphere is great to watch a soccer match. read more

Stopped by Murphy's Irish Pub at the oceanfront for lunch on a Saturday. Right off the bat, the place just feels like it would be a fun experience. Tons of space both indoors and outside, plus big fire pits out front that would be perfect on a cool evening! If you're into people-watching or just want some ocean air, their patio is a solid spot to sit. We sat at the bar outside. Inside, there's a huge bar and plenty of tables, with that classic pub vibe with Irish touches everywhere. I started off with a Kona (they have a pretty solid beer list with local and international options), while my friend went traditional with a Guinness. For food, we tried the fish and chips and chicken tenders. The fish was fresh and flaky with a crispy batter, served with a tasty tartar sauce, and the fries were hot and just salty enough. Nothing fancy! A lunch full of classic comfort food done right. The chicken tenders were a hit too. You can tell they weren't your usual frozen type, and clearly made in house, juicy with a crunchy breading. Good for sharing or if you just want some pub food with your drink. Service was friendly and quick. Staff seemed to genuinely enjoy being there, which makes a difference. Prices are what you'd expect for a beach location, but the portions definitely don't disappoint! If I could give this place zero stars I would. Although the food tasted fine they advertise their she crab soup as award winning there was barely any crab in it! We ordered raw oysters which finally came after we were finished with our entrees and we refused them. When we asked several times about the oysters they kept saying they were shucking them now. The calamari was cold when it came out. We continued to have empty drinks and having to flag the waitress down to get them. We were very vocal in voicing our concerns and another waitress kept walking past shaking her head like we were in the wrong! This place could have potential especially in a resort area and the owners own an oyster farm but we won't ever be going back to find out! read more

Happy hour review!!! We ordered the wings, sliders, and a dozen oysters from the happy hour menu. The chicken wings were awesome!! We did 5 Jameson bbq wings and 5 old bay wings. They came out super hot and were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Perfect wings! The sliders were fine. The slider of the day was meatball. Nothing special. The oysters were very fresh. Absolutely INSANE on St. Patrick's Day! Definitely expected and definitely appreciated! Between the fantastic musicians, green beer and Jameson, we had an amazing time and will be back again! Of course the wait was long for a table to have some dinner but once we were sat the service was top notch and the food came out relatively quick. Good thing because we were needed some base!! We all had something different, some was great, some not so great! The egg rolls were devoid of any flavor, maybe with some 1000 Island it would be better? The honey mustard just didn't go well, too sweet. The best meal on the menu has to be the Bangers & Mash, it was delicious and everybody absolutely loved it! The burger was small but cooked nice and the fries were nice and crispy outside, soft inside. The Reuben was good, the corned beef was just really lacking much flavor. It was really chewy. The sandwich itself wasn't even grilled. It was disappointing. Two people in our party got wings which were not crispy at all and hardly had any sauce in them. My bestie and I tried Murphy's Irish Pub for their Champagne Breakfast when she first moved to VA probably 14 years ago and were very much impressed so we decided to try them again for Jeepfest this past weekend. This experience was a little lacking for me unfortunately. First off they weren't busy but there was a large party in the same area we were sat which might have made things a little dicey for the wait staff. Who knows. Either way we waited 30 mins for our meal after it was placed and my son was getting a little "hangry". Our waitress was not attentive to my friend's drink the entire time we were there until it was time to leave and then I think she realized her error because she was being extra helpful. As far as food: I ordered the bangers and mash. The mashed potatoes and gravy: delicious. The sausage: great flavor once I cut off all the burnt outer parts which whoever plated tried to cover with gravy. Didn't eat the green beans so no comment on those. The inside of the pub was just like we remembered, the decor and wood burning fireplace were wonderful. We may be back for another breakfast next time we are up, just not lunch. read more

Visited here on a Saturday 12/02/2023 to celebrate my sister's birthday. She wanted to somewhere with live music and Wonderland was playing and I knew she would love them. We got there around 8p and it wasn't crowded yet, we were able to get a four top that was near the kitchen and was a perfect spot to watch the band and hangout. Our waitress Jessica was busy but she did great considering how busy it got when the night went on and my drink was never empty. I ordered the Jameson Baked Oysters and the Fish & Chips. I read previous reviews that these were really good but I unfortunately found them to be a little dry and the oysters to be a small. The fish & chips dish came with cottage fries which I had no clue what those were I thought they were gonna be waffle fries but they were not and they were nice crispy addicting pieces of fried potatoes that I could not stop eating. The fish is Cod and looked to be fried quite nicely and a few bites were but after a while I noticed that the batter was not quite cooked near the middle, which I ended up just eating the batter that crispy. Not sure I would get that again and will probably try something else next time. I also had a half of an Irish Egg roll and that was very tasty and will definitely make sure to order that next time I visit. It was fun Saturday night and Murphy's was rocking! read more

My Most visited, most appreciated establishment, while in VB. This place has it ALL. Went there on a Friday night for lots of drinks and some great outdoor live music. So much fun. This place has a large outdoor seating area and usually someone is playing great music.... How do you go wrong, with that? You can't. Food, happy hour specials are a win win win! I always like to sit at the bar in places like this and the service at the Murph's was awesome, never an empty beer glass, just kept them coming. We were in town for the weekend. We were looking for a spot that was playing the Thursday night football game. Not only was Murphys playing the game, they also had pretty awesome food. We were able to walk there from our oceanfront hotel (super convenient). They have an outdoor bar with TVs which is perfect for agreeable weather. They also had a great band playing live. We chose to sit inside because it was a little chilly. The inside bar has large screen tvs and played the sound for the game. Our bartender was more than accommodating. Neither of us had authentic Irish food so we were pretty excited. I ordered the shepherd's pie and he ordered fish and chips The food was pretty good, but let me pause to highlight the chips. What in the world?! They werent fries, they werent wedges, they werent potato chips....I dont know what they were or how they cooked them but they were the best crisp potatoes ever. read more

Great service as we were greeted immediately by the hostess who sat us quickly. Our waitress Abby was very friendly and quickly took our drink orders and just as quickly took our order off the Happy Hour menu. It's half off on the wings and certain appetizers, so that was great! We ordered wings: naked, Old Bay, and mild. They came with either blue cheese dressing or ranch and we chose the blue cheese. We sat by the fireplace, which was nice because it's still pretty cold outside. The place is very nicely decorated with Irish decor reminiscent of the pubs in Ireland and pennants of our Military branches, Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force! As we have a condo on Virginia Beach we always look for places to eat hoping to find great food and atmosphere! Well we found that place at Murphy. First the have Happy Hour from 3-7 pm. The oysters are .75 each during this time, and they have their own Oyster Farm on one Eastern Shore. Not one piece of sand was found in my whole dozen. They were super fresh, very nice size, and so far the best I have ever had and I have had a lot. If your from Great Britain the food is pretty close to what you would find in an Irish Pub or restaurant across the pond. My husband is British is always looking for something from Great Britain to eat, and he found his Bangers and Mash, the second night he had shepherds pie and it was absolutely loaded with meat, and the potatoes were so delicious everything about this place is great. I had fish and chips one night and then had their fried shrimp and their fried shrimp taste just like it was brought in from the ocean. It was so good. We highly recommend this place. The waitresses and waiters were absolutely the most pleasant people to wait on you they're always making sure you are fine And they also have Guinness beer on top.! Big race coming up and St. Paddy's so when we arrived to complete disorganization I was a bit disappointed. Four bars tabs did not allow use of any other than were they were opened. Entire back deck not heated or open..... 30-40 wait was actually hour and half! Outside was not set up for use chairs removed to allow more standing volume for race weekend.... Music in the radio at the outside bar music on at rear bar both different stations and live music playing at the same time making it impossible to enjoy any of it! Had to order take out to be served while waiting for a table. Ended up leaving because it was anything but fun or enjoyable.....They need to be a lot more organized and demo some understanding of the clientele having 60+ years old sitting on the floor is just not cool. read more
