Haven't been here in a while. The food is better than it used to be. The service however was quite disappointing. We were charged $0.75 for a tiny side of ranch and when asked about the price I was told - "I don't make the prices, and they don't listen to me anyway." I ordered the fiesta burger which the menu described as coming with avocado and fresh pico. What I received was a nice looking burger with a slop of brown mush on top. Now...I love avocado, but I'm very picky about guacamole. When my husband asked if they could replace it with sliced avocados, we were told - "that is avocado. It's just mushed up." No offer to fix it or replace it. So I scraped the brown mush off the burger and ate what was left. It was decent. My husband and daughter's burgers were very good. So like I said, the food is good, and we will likely go back, but they need serious work on staff satisfaction it seems. Because that type of customer service speaks to poor management. I was not overly impressed with my trip here. Some of my family lives nearby and likes this place for their hamburgers (obviously). I am not a beef eater, so I opted for a grilled cheese (which I do not recommend) We had a large group so I know that can throw things off, but they got everyone's order ready and out on time except mine. When my order wasn't brought out I went to the counter to ask and they said it was coming right out, so I went back to my table to wait. And wait, & wait... I went back to check a 2nd time (most of my party was almost done eating) and they seemed annoyed I came back (seriously, how long does it take to make a grilled cheese??) they finally brought it out. Barely toasted breaded, with an unmelted slice of cheese in the middle. It was underwhelming to say the least. Maybe they were just having an off day, but I would not recommend ordering the grilled cheese, and maybe come here when they aren't busy or overwhelmed. read more

Be leery of dark restaurants....they are hiding something. The wife and I were in the Manvel area and found this place on Yelp and gave it a shot. On the wall just inside the door is a menu of all the burgers offered, you order at the bar and a food runner brings your order. I went with the teriyaki burger. It came wrapped and I was impressed at how huge it looked. I dug a little deeper, pretty flat bun, layer of onions, huge layers of lettuce, layer of pickles, pineapple ring and there is the meat patty...way down there...it was pretty thin. It was ok and the teriyaki sauce was tasty, just wish it was a bit more meaty. The fries had no taste, it was nice that they weren't salty but some sort of seasoning is in order. Staff was nice and if you check in on Yelp you get 10% off your order. Didn't check in until after we paid. The parking lot? Bring your rubber boots.... read more

I went to this place based on all the good reviews *Obama voice* Let me be clear - I will NOT be back! First off, the "Dine in or Drive Thru" on the sign is wrong. The drive in is for call in orders only - ummm - that is NOT a drive thu! So I guess labeling it "Dine in or call and come to the window to pick up your order" would have cost too much on the sign? Hmmph!!! THEN - when I do go ahead and order then come back to pick it up, I had to CALL ON THE PHONE to get someone to come to the window - seriously??? And after all that struggle and effort, the burger was marginal at best - I have had much better thrown out of a window. The onion rings were somewhat decent, but don't warrant a return visit under any circumstances - not even it were free, not even if Jesus was serving. BOO!!!! read more

Maybe we caught them on an off day but our experience didn't live up to expectations after reading the great reviews. I had the bacon cheddar with onion rings. The overcooked patty was smaller than the bun which was overly toasted. The bacon was the best part and not skimpy - good flavor. The cheddar wasn't melted evenly so some bites were heavy on the cheese and others were light. The pickles were clumped in one spot/ not evenly spread out. The onion rings were average - not memorable. The fries were soggy. Because of COVID you get served in a bag which made it hard to dine-in. We were the only people there. The regular size drinks were small and no free refills. Y'all enjoy your local burger shop, but we won't be back. read more

The Burger Barn name says it all. It's a country-style bar in Manvel with some character that serves up a bunch of burgers plus more. I ordered the teriyaki burger combo with fries and a limeade. You don't see fresh limeade at many restaurants so that was a nice surprise. The burger was 4/5 stars while the fries were 3/5 stars. Compared to some of Houston's finest, like Bernie's Burger Bus, The Burger Barn is a bit behind but with that being said, serves some great burgers for the area. Very good burgers! Not to be passed up. Fresh ingredients, well seasoned burgers. My ultimate test for any burger is "could I enjoy this burger as a stand alone piece of meat?". And yes, I could. All the other toppings/ingredients just add to the flavor profile. They offer plenty of variety. Update** The company messaged me to get details of the situation. After explaining that it was a computer issue, they offered me 20% off my next purchase. We went February 24th, the 20% off worked, the food was good and the tea was good, too. We're very happy it all worked out. ** My husband and I really love the burgers, here. They're fresh, made to order and delish. All the food is great. I wasn't a fan of their iced tea. Now, we usually order water for that reason...or a beer . My problem with Burger Barn has nothing to do with the food. It has to do with the service and their 5 star reward plan. I had received a text: "Enjoy 20% off of your next order, expires January 26". I save the reward, go to Burger Barn and the cashier (Myra? Mia? Something like that.) asks me for my number to look up the reward. She then says she can't find it. I show her the email showing that I had saved the offer. Nope, can't find the reward. Okay??? So, then what do I do? Nothing. There isn't anything for me to do, apparently. And she wasn't even helpful about it. Then, I get an email Jan 24: "Don't forget! Redeem your reward before it expires!" Brought home half of it for later! Had to try the fried bacon...it was actually quite tasty. Breading was light and not overpowering the bacon. Loved the fries, especially since they have a shaker of cajun seasonings in the table...that little kick is how I like my fries. I thought it was a little pricy for burgers...$27 for me and my two kids, but we did get the extra side order of fried bacon, and I had leftovers, so it seems like a great place to eat. Didn't pay attention to the whole menu, but I did notice they serve some bbq, mexican dishes, chicken fried streak, and have some interesting burgers (teriyaki), so a great variety for everyone! read more
