Haven't been here in a while. The food is better than it used to be. The service however was quite disappointing. We were charged $0.75 for a tiny side of ranch and when asked about the price I was told - "I don't make the prices, and they don't listen to me anyway." I ordered the fiesta burger which the menu described as coming with avocado and fresh pico. What I received was a nice looking burger with a slop of brown mush on top. Now...I love avocado, but I'm very picky about guacamole. When my husband asked if they could replace it with sliced avocados, we were told - "that is avocado. It's just mushed up." No offer to fix it or replace it. So I scraped the brown mush off the burger and ate what was left. It was decent. My husband and daughter's burgers were very good. So like I said, the food is good, and we will likely go back, but they need serious work on staff satisfaction it seems. Because that type of customer service speaks to poor management. I ordered the "Oh Spicy" Burger and was pleasantly surprised by how spicy it was! The sauce burned my lips... exactly what I want when someone claims that something is spicy. I liked that I could order how my burger was made. The medium rare was, indeed, medium rare. To me, it was a good burger for the price and there are no other decent burger spots around. I was not overly impressed with my trip here. Some of my family lives nearby and likes this place for their hamburgers (obviously). Maybe we caught them on an off day but our experience didn't live up to expectations after reading the great reviews. I had the bacon cheddar with onion rings. The overcooked patty was smaller than the bun which was overly toasted. The bacon was the best part and not skimpy - good flavor. The cheddar wasn't melted evenly so some bites were heavy on the cheese and others were light. The pickles were clumped in one spot/ not evenly spread out. The onion rings were average - not memorable. The fries were soggy. Because of COVID you get served in a bag which made it hard to dine-in. We were the only people there. The regular size drinks were small and no free refills. Y'all enjoy your local burger shop, but we won't be back. read more

Very good burgers! Not to be passed up. Fresh ingredients, well seasoned burgers. My ultimate test for any burger is "could I enjoy this burger as a stand alone piece of meat?". And yes, I could. All the other toppings/ingredients just add to the flavor profile. They offer plenty of variety. Be leery of dark restaurants....they are hiding something. The wife and I were in the Manvel area and found this place on Yelp and gave it a shot. On the wall just inside the door is a menu of all the burgers offered, you order at the bar and a food runner brings your order. I went with the teriyaki burger. It came wrapped and I was impressed at how huge it looked. I dug a little deeper, pretty flat bun, layer of onions, huge layers of lettuce, layer of pickles, pineapple ring and there is the meat patty...way down there...it was pretty thin. It was ok and the teriyaki sauce was tasty, just wish it was a bit more meaty. The fries had no taste, it was nice that they weren't salty but some sort of seasoning is in order. I went to this place based on all the good reviews *Obama voice* Let me be clear - I will NOT be back! First off, the "Dine in or Drive Thru" on the sign is wrong. The drive in is for call in orders only - ummm - that is NOT a drive thu! So I guess labeling it "Dine in or call and come to the window to pick up your order" would have cost too much on the sign? Hmmph!!! THEN - when I do go ahead and order then come back to pick it up, I had to CALL ON THE PHONE to get someone to come to the window - seriously??? And after all that struggle and effort, the burger was marginal at best - I have had much better thrown out of a window. The Burger Barn name says it all. It's a country-style bar in Manvel with some character that serves up a bunch of burgers plus more. I ordered the teriyaki burger combo with fries and a limeade. You don't see fresh limeade at many restaurants so that was a nice surprise. The burger was 4/5 stars while the fries were 3/5 stars. Compared to some of Houston's finest, like Bernie's Burger Bus, The Burger Barn is a bit behind but with that being said, serves some great burgers for the area. Went not long after it opened. Gave it a few years. Went back. Nice people, clean place, nothing to complain about on service, but look at the jalapeno cheeseburger photo. Cold, un-melted cheese. Patty is bland. Huge hunk of lettuce heart. I'd love for it to be a better option because I love eating at our local hometown places, but maybe at least season the patty with salt and pepper, don't put giant chunks of earthy lettuce heart on it and then make sure to put the cheese on the patty while it's on the grill so it actually melts.
