Love this place, was super bummed when I heard the old place (El Patron) had shut down but was relieved to see some of the reviews here mention that Burrito Factory kept many of the good things about the old restaurant. I always get the Factory Burrito, and I think it's actually improved since the changes! It was already one of my favorite burritos in San Diego now it might be my favorite. The salsa bar has a great selection, but I'd be careful with the chili oil (my favorite) if you can't handle spice. It's very hot. read more

I had the shredded beef burrito. Not much shredded beef but more beans than I can handle. To top that, almost every bite was a whole bay leaf... three in total. At that point, it was making me sick. Didn't get to finish the $13 buck burrito. Nothing special about it except for the amount of bay leaf. Super Sergio is still the best. Their condiments were 3 out of 10, the spicy carrots with jalepeno tasted like canned ans not fresh. Service is ok and the place is clean. Will not come back. $13 bucks for a can of beans and beef you have to see with a microscope. Not worth it. Don't forget the bay leafs. read more

This place has great food- however the girl who answered the phone was extremely rude. When we asked about getting two different enchilada sauces she just said NO. Then we asked again and she said no we don't do that. We then tried to pronounce 'Adobada' to order one of the street tacos and she laughed at us. It wasn't just a snicker, it was a full out laugh as though she was making fun of us. This is really unfortunate as we had just discovered this place and really liked their food. We were in the area and decided to give this place a try. We are vegetarian leaning vegan and lately I've been challenging myself to only order and cook food free from meat, dairy, etc. They had a veggie burrito on the menu so I ordered it and asked for no cheese. Now a veggie burrito is pretty simple and the ingredients tend to be fresh. The bad news about this is if any component is lacking it's noticed. In this case I bit into my burrito and it was crunchy. I thought maybe I just got a hard bit of rice or something so took another bite and that had lots of crunchy bits! Clearly old overcooked rice. We took the burritos back as they were both that way and they remade them. The second batch of burritos weren't crunchy but I noted mine had sour cream in it, though sour cream isn't listed as an ingredient! Fortunately I'm far from a strict vegan but this was disappointing. Overall if a "burrito factory" can't get burritos right it's in trouble. And that's where I'll leave this. It tasted decent but I value consistent quality highly and I'm not confident you can get that here. The service was really good. Thus 3 stars. read more

I went here for the second time yesterday and it was good. The service was nice and they were fairly busy which is always a good sign. I love the variety of options on the menu as well as the salsa bar. I am a sucker for a good breakfast burrito any day of the week. Mine was alright but nothing to write home about. My wife got the carne asada fries and they were alright as well. The star of the show though was the fish tacos that we got. They were fantastic! Next time I go I am going to get each taco they have to offer and try them. I am confident and also looking forward to updating my rating to 5 stars after. read more

DO NOT ORDER THROUGH UBER EATS. Spent $30 for lunch - I work 4 minutes away and got the notification that my order was ready, so I clocked out for my lunch and drove to come pick it up, when I told her I was picking up my order the woman at the counter said they "don't do UberEats" I showed her my phone and order with their address and was obviously confused. Apparently they were "too busy" and "got a-lot of orders" and waited until I showed up to tell me. I got charged! On their end they can cancel the order but instead they selected to notify me that my order was ready?! I wasted my time and lunch break driving there when they could have called or canceled on their end. Ridiculous. Had to call UberEats support to get my money back. read more

Came in this morning and customer service was terrible. Greeted with short phrases but still gave all due respect. Ordered the steak and bacon breakfast burrito. Nothing special about it, but very bland. I got my food last after everyone that came after me in the restaurant. I said thank you, but was dismissed by a "good bye". The salsa was wonderful. The diablo burrito was meh. Mostly rice and beans, neither tasted fresh. My burrito was made so quickly, I doubt any of it was cooked fresh. I also hate when there are pockets of sauce in a burrito rather than it being equally distributed. The white sauce tasted like cream cheese and it was all in a clump mid burrito. For the west coast, this wasn't up to the quality I've had elsewhere, I can make a better burrito at home. Probably won't be back. read more

I'm a gringo who speaks little Spanish. A few weeks ago I ordered the hashbrown breakfast burrito, which was delicioso. However, the gordita behind the counter, who was eating her breakfast when I entered this fine establishment had an attitude right off the bat. I placed my order and sat down. After that, she immediately grabs her food and brings it back to the kitchen where I can't see her. She then tells the cook in Spanish to fill my burrito with habernos and then laughs about it. My burrito is ready, she brings it out to me, tosses it on the counter, and says "Here you go". I grab my burrito, look her in the eyes and say "Thank you". As I'm walking out the door this lady says "Bye pinche werro". I shake my head and continued out the door. read more

This was our go-to place when it was El Patron. I was a bit hesitant to try TBF after it opened, however, I've been back several times and am not disappointed. The service is friendly, the burritos and quesadillas are amazing and very filling. I do miss the hearty soups that El Patron used to serve, but aside from that, TBF hits the mark. read more

We love or should I say "loved" the Burrito Factory. The last couple times weren't as great as the times before but we thought we'd try again last night. Unfortunately, that will be our last time. We ordered a carne asada burrito and 2 beef enchiladas to go. The 2 beef enchiladas had zero meat. The plate was mostly pico de gallo on the side which I love but very little beans and rice.
