    Spicy Eggplant with beef
    Christina R.

Clear signage stating Chinese Halal- I'm familiar with Uyghur cuisine but the waitress had no idea what that was so I'm not sure what their marketing strategy is. She was very attentive and the food came out fast. The only Uyghur thing I know that I ate was the smoked chili condiment. Good lunch even with leftovers to spare. I was full with a set: spicy eggplant with meat (I'm guessing beef since it's supposed to be halal tho classically it would be pork), white rice and eggrolls. Since I declined the chicken corn soup, they gave me an extra egg roll. Nice place -walkable from the dealer while waiting for a recall repair on my car. Better than the other alternatives in the mall.

Interesting concept which is Chinese Halal food with zero MSG's. I honestly don't mind if my food has MSG's, but it's nice to know there's an Asian option without it. Parking is plentiful. Inside is not too small, but also not very large and no outside seating. We ordered their spicy eggplant which was addicting to say the least! It went perfectly well with white rice. We also ordered their salt & pepper shrimp which wasn't too overcooked and perfectly seasoned. My favorite thing there is their spicy orange chicken and sorry if that sounds so basic -- orange chicken? But it's bomb. We also had their cream cheese wontons which had a lot of filling! Will comeback in the future for sure!

Great tasting food with great service on a dinner visit on 3/20/2026. Our faves are Shrimp with scrambled eggs and the Dry Sautéed Strings Beans. You cant go wrong!

Authentic Chinese restaurant located in Poway. Lots of traditional dishes with a specialty in their beef roll and sesame bread with green onion. Some of our favorites are the stir-fried lamb with cumin, filet mignon with black pepper sauce, and the seafood tofu soup. Portions are decent and prices are comparable to other similar restaurants in Convoy. Service can be mediocre depending on who you get. There is a man who we've had a couple times as our server and he can be rude and dismissive. Big parking lot shared with the adjacent stores, never had any issues finding parking.

The place has plenty of seating Fast and friendly service Authentic Chinese food..we.got the egg flow soup..garlic chicken with jalapeños and chicken friend rice. The quantity is good portion size. The garlic chicken had amazing flavor and spicy. I also got boba thai tea which was a big size.

Service is nice. The parking in front of the store is just 15 mins. We were looking forward to the handmade noodles ($1 extra), but they weren't chewy at all. It felt like they were already cooked once then cooked again. The broth was good and I like the pairing with spinach for the beef noodle soup. I kept getting distracted by the bugs flying around. Eventually, they were eating with us too (see review photo). Not a fan of pre-dispensed water sitting on the side with this many bugs flying around the store. Bathroom is a little dirty. Sticky ground. I would give them another chance but probably would not come here again. I feel itchy when I see so many bugs flying around in an indoor establishment.

This authentic Chinese restaurant is bright, warm, welcoming and very clean. Staff here very friendly and made fantastic recommendations on the menu. Wide variety of choices. The lunch specials here are the best value and excellent, flavorful dishes. Lunches here come with soup, egg roll, rice and a large portion of entree. The orange beef, green onion beef and 3 flavor sizzling rice soup were outstanding. We had a massive lunch for 4 people for under $60. Amazing. Value here!

A few days late, but I had to leave this glowing review about their service. I had ordered a meal and there was an issue for me with that meal. They said come back and we'll correct it for you and you'll leave happy! My meal was replaced and they threw in an order of egg rolls on the house and that made happy! I can't say enough good things about Ma's House. The food is out of this world as well.

Great service here! A group of us was in for dinner on a week night to celebrate a birthday. The waiter heard and brought out a slice of cake for us! It is not something they usually do, especially Chinese restaurants. The staff was really nice and friendly. Made all the difference between a good dining experience and a great one. We ordered a few dishes for dinner and had it family style. We like all the dishes we ordered. They were able to make modifications to the dishes. For example we asked for chicken chow fun instead of the usual beef chow fun. No problem! There are a lot of vegetarian options. It was one of the reasons why we picked this restaurant. One person in our party was a vegetarian, another was gluten free, another doesn't eat beef... there was something for everyone!

Chicken fried rice with chili oil

It was my first time having beef roll. It was not what I was expecting but I was defiantly plenty surprised. Sweet and tender and the veggies were really fresh.. I also had the chicken fried rice. With a little chili oil the rice was perfect. Can't wait to go back. The restaurant in Poway is also Halal.

    Terrible Kung Pao Chicken
    Dan E.

The highs and lows of Ma's House! While I spoke highly of their Orange Beef, which was exquisite, their Kung Pao Chicken was another matter entirely. It looked and tasted like it was cooked in a Crock Pot, rather than a wok. A soupy brown gravy, soft chicken and very little discernible spice heat. Completely devoid of any wok hei. Quite possibly the worst Kung Pao I've ever been served. The Chicken Corn Creamy soup this visit was very tasty.

Beef Noodle Soup (4/5) - the Soup and Beef were Meh, I've had better, but the noodles were fresh which was nice. Pork Soup Dumpling (4/5) - decent soup dumplings, the soup flavor was good, but wish there was more soup within each dumpling. But overall flavor was succulent. Chongqing Chicken (4/5) - def not a specialty, but tasty. I've def had better where the chicken was a bit more crispy and Wonton in Spicy Soup (5/5) - this was the standout dish, the spicy soup sauce was phenomenal and perfectly complemented the wontons. I'd def come back for this dish alone. Bonus - Chocolate Dumplings (5/5) - provided this as a free dessert, which TBH should be on the menu (if it isn't already), the chocolate flavor was so delicious and had the nice pork soup dumpling type skin. Service was very attentive as well - def better than your typical 'chinese' style service of quick/brusque servie - for sure. They repeatedly checked water/tea refills. Overall 4.5/5

Their pig shaped custard buns are also quite cute and fun for dessert! The menu is similar to that of Din Tai Fung, but at a much cheaper price, and their food quality is top tier. I ordered the almond chicken lunch special, which came with fried rice, wontons, and an egg roll. Everything was delicious. The egg roll had a lovely hint of curry, the chicken was flavorful without being greasy or overly sauced, and the vegetables were perfectly crisp instead of soggy. The fried rice had a delicate smoky flavor that complemented everything perfectly. I also added a side of hot and sour soup with wonton chips and was delighted. All of it tasted freshly made, which was easy to believe with the constant chopping sounds coming from the kitchen. It has total takeout or casual dine-in vibes: small, cozy, no frills, just really good food and friendly service. What makes it even more special is the heart behind it. It was $76. Ordered fried rice, chow mein, one shrimp entree, orange chicken and house chicken. My wife picked it up and noticed the house chicken was not in the bag. Had to drive back to the restaurant and was told I ordered house CHOW MEIN. (No, I did not! 4 of us were sitting here and the other 3 people overheard the order). So had to wait while they begrudgingly took back the house chow mein I did not order and made the house chicken entree. When we finally got back home with the now cold food, after 2 bites we threw ALL of it in the trash. The orange chicken and house chicken were inexplicably dried out and stringy, almost like jerky. They also put those 2 entrees, right off the open flame wok, in to PLASTIC FOAM CLAMSHELL CONTAINERS. The heat from the entrees literally melt and warp the foam containers, and the food tastes like plastic. These type of single use foam containers were banned - ILLEGAL - in San Diego FOUR YEARS AGO!!! WHY are they still being used here? The chow mein and fried rice were also horribly, chokingly dry. And the shrimp tasted very fishy, like it had seen better days. I live in the area and used to come here all the time, then stopped several years ago due to a HUGE downgrade in the quality of their food. It has now gotten even worse, if thats even possible. Panda Express, down the street, is 100 times better than this. It would have been less than half price of this place and WAY better quality.
