We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The food was hot & seasoned well. The place was clean, much nicer ambiance than the Olympic we are used to. But what really stood out to us was our server Gage. Food was so good. I had the tortellini with chicken. The sauce in it is so good I wish they would put it on a pizza! It's large enough for two. The service as such is decent at Olympia's but it is simply a buffet style lunch establishment to me. Catfish is good but not exceptional, as were the veggies (tasted like they came from a big can honestly). The desserts I passed on because I was eating lunch and didn't want a sugar buzz then a crash so I passed but it looked delicious. You get what you expect to get here. Solid food, decent service. Nothing memorable in a positive or negative way. Great place to go for some down home southern fare, tea was delicious (a major plus for a place like this). read more

Had a good time visiting family at the Olympic steak house. Big salad bar which was all you can eat and came with every dinner entree and no up charge. Party of 28 and the one waitress was fantastic. She kept our drinks full, the orders straight, the kitchen brought the food out within 15 mins of ordering and nothing went back My only complaint is the lack of sound baffling as it was way, way, too loud inside. read more

When we pulled up to this restaurant, we noticed the exterior was beautiful. However, our experience inside was shaky. There was no one at the hostess stand and a lot people standing around. When we finally got seated after a bit of a wait, our waitress came to take our drink order. My husband is in his mid 50's and ordered a beer. Now we don't mind being carded at all-she probably has to check everyone's ID. But instead of nicely asking, she just said "ID". We weren't expecting it, and it wasn't a question, so he didn't immediately get his wallet. Luckily my son told us she wanted my husband's ID. We felt double old that our son had to decipher her "request". Then she really inspected the ID as if he was close to being 21. We were 21 before she was born. In any event, they were out of the beer he ordered. He asked a question about another and she said she didn't know and didn't offer to find out. So he drank water. It seemed like a lot of effort and she really didn't care. Ok all that, but the food - the guys shared a pizza and I had shrimp - was actually pretty good. We enjoyed the salad bar, and the prices were very reasonable. I think they need to train their teenage staff about customer service, though-that would have earned them 5 stars. read more

I stopped by Arlington location. I waited at front for 10 minutes, no one came to desk to seat me. I literally left and drove to the Oakland location for lunch. This is not the first time it has taken to get someone to the desk to seat me. I can say once I have been seated I have never been disappointment in the food. This isn't fine dining, but dining here is not a bad choice. Ordering from the menu is surprisingly good. The chicken sandwich is enough chicken to make two sandwiches really. Fries are well cooked and salted just right. They had a touch of seasoning, like maybe a Greek seasoning. Service is good and drinks stay full, so no complaints. Buffet is solid and the peach cobbler goes fast, so get you a bowl when it comes out. Only suggestion, as a big back, would be a little self serve ice cream like the one in Oakland, to go with the cobbler. Salad bar is great if that's your thing! My party decided to sit on the patio since the weather was nice, I started with the Easy Breezy cocktail which is a rum base and fruity. Appetizers we had fried green beans and jalapeño poppers, both were cooked to order, hot, fresh, and crispy and come with ranch for dipping. I ordered the steak and shrimp (medium) with a loaded baked potato and made 1 trip to the salad bar. Traveling cross country and really needed a good, hot meal. Found Olympic in Arlington on Yelp and decided to eat here. WOW, what a nice looking place, inside and out! We were seated by the host who was very accommodating, seating us where we could keep an eye on truck/RV...he was so nice. Our waiter was Oscar, super nice young man who just couldn't do enough for us. Soup & salad bar came with meal, was wonderful. Lasagna, great!! Chicken Parmesan, really, really good! I spoke with some local customers, you would think they were spokeswomen for the brand, LOL, just couldn't say enough and told me about another location they swear is even better!! Well, upon leaving, our fuel pump went out in our tow vehicle, OMG, and locals stopped to help as did a couple of folks from the restaurant, asking if there was anything they could do. The Olympic in Arlington is amazing! My Mom and I visited on Wednesday for lunch and sat in the bar area. The bartender had been there quite some time and always remembers us. It is a great family environment and the salad bar is the freshest that you will get anywhere. Their pizzas are always picture perfect and consistently the same every time we visit. Tried the chicken kabob and I wouldn't recommend it over the pizza. Their happy hour wine is good also. Worth the short drive from Oakland to have a drink with your meal. read more

Food is basic. I only ate off the salad bar. The lettuce was in big pieces & wet, but since i wasn't very hungry it worked for me. Others in my party ordered from the regular menu & stated that the food was ok. The wings & catfish & pizza were what most in my party enjoyed. We had a big party as we were celebrating an event. So we were all in the back room area. It was loud & there were two other groups were back there but it made sense because we were all able to be at long tables together. My husband and I have visited this restaurant on several occasions; the food was good, the service was great, and the ambiance was pleasant. Today was such a disappointment given the fact we had driven about 30 miles to have a nice Sunday dinner. We stood in line for more than 20 minutes, never to be acknowledged even with a glance from the hostess. So after about 25 minutes, we just decided that our business was better off elsewhere. I visited this restaurant twice on my visit. The pepperoni pizza I ordered was hot, fresh and quite affordable. I had that to go. I visited a second time for a sit down experience and decided to try the salad bar that folks were ranting about. I found that to be just average. The lettuce was sitting in water. So that affected my dressing consistency. Perhaps dry off your lettuce before plating the rest of your things. The salad was not bad-just not great. The soup of the day was potato. Greeted quickly, but the teenage waiter was very forgetful and had to be reminded several times to bring things. My husband ordered the steak sandwich and was brought out a small steak. When he inquired, they took it back to the kitchen, cut it in half and threw it on a bun. It was extremely tough and he could not eat it as a sandwich. I ordered the shrimp meal and was surprised when I was brought a plate of popcorn shrimp. My husband thought they had brought me a kids meal. The sweet potato fries are EXCELLENT and the cinnamon butter to dip them in made them some of the best sweet potato fries I have ever eaten. My daughter really enjoyed her calzone and it was huge. Partner and I were just passing through tonight and were desperate for a place to eat. It was 9pm and nothing much going on in the area except Taco Bells and gas station markets. We were lucky enough to find this place and were so nervous because they close at 9:30 -- but the staff did an amazing job accommodating us. We didn't feel rushed at all even though we were trying as hard as we could to be as quick as possible! We were sat immediately (of course, we were literally the only ones coming in) and our server came by very quickly. We ordered the chicken kebab plate and gyro plate, both with rice. I didn't realize the rice was one of the standard options for a side. Being from Boston and California we were used to paying $$$ for every little thing While waiting we added on the liver and onions just because we don't see that too often on the menu but always love having it-- couldn't resist. Bonus points for the salad bar that was included with dinner!! That was a surprise for us. As you can tell we came in with near zero mental preparation but it was so nice to get some fresh veggies in after two long days of travel. There was the regular iceberg lettuce, grape tomatoes, olives, shredded carrots, beets (which I still can't understand why salad bars insist of having beets), shredded eggs, but also a couple options for macaroni salad and another pasta salad. Six or so options for dressings, pretty standard like ranch, thousand island, vinaigrettes, possibly a blue cheese or caesar. The food came out blazing fast, piping hot, and absolutely delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Hot and juicy on the inside, a crisp char on the outside. The lamb and beef gyro was pretty standard. Rice pilaf is super comforting with meaty/mushroomy flavor. The liver and onion also came out very fast and was so good! The only thing I would complain about was that I needed to salt the liver quite a bit- but that seems to be more of a me-issue rather than a restaurant issue given the trend To top it all off the bill only came out to about $40-something. Huge bargain for us, coming from cities where that quality and quantity of food would cost at least $70. Add on the salad bar and it would be close to $100. The service was wonderful and they never even once made us feel rushed or unwelcome. But it was a two-way street, we were in and out in 40 minutes!
